Reviews of The Range
K. M.
Another lovely lunch at our favourite place, we love it here&had our wedding reception here, it was amazing. Outstanding food & great staff, highly recommended 👌 beautiful surroundings 😁
H. C.
A great selection of almost everything! Can usually find what I want although on this occasion a bit disappointed at the limited choice of duvet covers....just nice to have a browse and get new ideas.
Large arts and crafts section.
L. S. A. M.
Large variety, I'm a new range shopper & was pleasantly surprised with the variety of goods, the staff are very helpful. I wasn't allowed to take my basket to my car (I had large items to carry) so the staff members helped me to my car.
R. T.
This shop has to be the worst for not labelling up the price on items. They stock alot of different things, seasonal, home bits, gardening and now lots of food. But finding out how much something costs is a right pain, always a long queue at customer services to ask. Also, the staff must get fed up being asked as in my experience they are not happy about it. Shame as I said they hold alot of stock.
C. C.
Full of nice decorative items, cooking utilities and storage container. Has a nice range in the iceland section. And the staff are always kind and helpful.
T. G.
Great prices and stuff you didn't know you needed. Good idea having Iceland in store. Hope the escalator is fixed soon
B. B.
Plenty of choice and had nice bacon roll but felt very sorry for the girl in the cafe struggling alone all in black uniform rushing around serving, cooking, making drinks clearing away and cleaning in a very hot area. She deserves recognition as she still remained polite and friendly in a stressful situation.
C. C.
Picked up a real Christmas tree from the range Colchester branch today (21st November 2021) Have to say what fantastic service!! The guy serving outside dealing with the trees (didn't take his name unfortunately) was absolutely fantastic!! He was brilliant with my little girl who is only 4 years old, also gave me some useful information as it was my first time having a real tree, he was happy to take the netting off the tree to see if I was happy with it. He freshly cut the end of the tree for me so I didn't have to do it at home on my own.
This man is a credit to your team, I will definitely come back next year for another Christmas tree! Also went inside to grab a couple of bits, it was very busy but the checkout lady was very friendly towards myself and my little girl.
T. P.
Great arrangement of stock and plenty of it. Was good to see. Got everything i wanted and for sure could have bought more. Great store, but i do make sure i go when not too busy.
M. G.
Got what we needed Only issue.
1 person serving on the till, we where 3rd in the cue whilst we where waiting 3 call went out for till trained staff to come to the tills not one member of staff came.
And the cue had 10 people waiting in it. When we got to the till to be served the till assistant was still on her own, with no sign of help on it way.
J. “. J. S.
Always love coming here ! They have almost everything I need under one roof from papercrafts to storage tubs, plants to furniture & mirrors to amazing homewares at very affordable prices.
Helpful happy staff that are much nicer than other chain- store staff these days !
And & cafe & toilets 🚻!
There's now even Iceland Frozen foods have moved in although I begrudge the space they've take away from the crafts & art supplies !
S. W.
Nice cake & coffee in the cafe. Lots of interesting household and garden things to buy. Extensive art& crafts area, probably the biggest in or near Colchester. And there's always a special mark down somewhere.
E. B.
Shop itself really good. I like that you can now grab few bits from iceland. I took one star off for state of the car park. Some huge holes there. Nearly damaged my car.
D. E.
Excellent Staff
Very Helpful
Got the information needed
Always good Parking
Highly recommend
A. J.
Great that you have an Iceland in store nice garden centre this shop sells most household things that you will need
J. C.
This one is hit and miss sometimes it’s a great store to shop in sometimes there’s stuff everywhere or there moving Stock about weird layout also but nice cafe well stocked
R. T.
Good range of household and gardening items. A limited range of foodstuffs plus a small Iceland frozen food facility in store too. Prices are reasonable for what you can buy though you won't find higher end quality items here. Plenty of parking and easy access. One (Bethlehem) rating star removed for installing a Xmas display complete with reindeer, santa and seasonal music...in EARLY OCTOBER. Bah Humbug!!
k. s.
Always a great variety of school supplies. Lift wasn't working at the time
B. S.
Good to pick up random stuff I never need.
S. C. (.
The range with an Iceland inside 😅 only went here because online the range started the item I wanted was in their store however after wasting 2 hours of my day traveling there and back there was no stock of such item 🤷♂️
J. D.
What a mess.. the pet section no price item thrown into a pile.. price on wrong item due 'move around' just a mess!
T. G.
Good place for the children drawing equipment, etc..will go there again
R. P.
nice shop very well set up.
only gave a 3 because you don't staff it well. found loads of bargains though
R. L.
Bought some tile adhesive got home found it had gone solid not happy having to take it back cost me in fuel plus it was Friday too much traffic.
A. P.
I bought some plants and the staff was very helpful, he went to get few more so I could have the amount I needed.
M. b.
Slightly misleading. Not really an Iceland so far as stock is concerned. Clean and tidy. Nice staff
V. S.
Love the place, easy access, massive parking lot and lovely stuff
S. S.
Very pleased with service and products. They sell a 'range' of photo albums. I had looked at a couple of shops beforehand. I didn't think anyone still sold the type and size I was looking for. Earlier in the day, I had bought the wrong size and they exchanged it without any issue?
The shop has a wide variety of household stuff.
And we can now but by Iceland frozen food.
I really like shopping here, the staff are friendly and helpful, it's good value and varied.
It's worth visiting
J. F.
Checked items in stock before we travelled, better experience than Ipswich store.
K. B.
Everything l needed and prices low. Good service friendly staff
J. R.
Totally love this shop, I could spend hours in here!
C. E.
So much choice had what I wanted and the ser ice was great we bought a plastic drawer but when went to put in car they change it straight away could not ask for better ser ice or value for money
R. P.
Always a pleasure to shop at Range. All you want for your home and artwork
M. N.
I love going to th range. However it is hard to find what you are looking for sometimes and staff just point you in a direction instead of just showing you where the item you are looking for is. Other than that I am happy with the store
C. S.
The Range is a good go to for most things. Great section for kids arts and crafts. Bit disappointed in the Christmas section this year, they didn't have half the things they have usually stocked on previous years, still a good selection though
R. “. C.
Plenty of household decor to select from and arts and crafts supplies also. There is a wide range of products to choose from with various special offers too. The layout could be better as the store did seem a little cramped and over dressed.
S. G.
Aways finding what need. Good range :)
L. P.
Good place to shop lots and lots of different products and reasonable good prices.
M. B.
You can find most things here.
Even had infallible paddle broads..
M. C.
Full of nik naks and other great stuff at reasonable prices.
M. D. J.
Always love visiting the Range and never walk out empty handed. Well laid out, needs a bit of refreshing now that they have an Iceland section.
L. M.
I do visit the Colchester store on a regular basis, however in my opinion it's not quite as nice as some of the other Range stores I have visited.
It seems dark inside and is definitely tired- needs a refurbishment.
It is well stocked but the aisles are cramped and very close together.
R. W.
Good store; plenty of choice with reasonable prices and value for money. However, the staff in the Colchester branch could do with more customer service training. Their assistants are not very supportive towards customers. They either answer your questions abruptly and vaguely, or look at you like they don't understand you.
G. H.
Only used the cafe on this occasion.
If we are in the area often pop in for a snack.
Bacon and brie sandwiches are great.
One small point when you ask for tea for two the teapot is far too small and they never give extra water for a second cup.
You have to ask for it
Z. O.
A handy shop for many things. Reasonably priced.
R. R.
It always astounding just what their 'range' is here. They should really call themselves ACME! (Yes I'm showing my age now..) you can buy almost anything from nails to candles, door mats to patio slabs. The prices are super competitive and low. There is now an Iceland store in house so that can aid an all round shop. Highly recommended
P. H.
A shop that really lives up to its name! If it doesn't have something you need then you must have quite obscure taste! Looked up to the second floor to see kayaks for sale, really quite extraordinary how much they pack in!
V. L.
All staff are willing to help! Never normally overly busy! Aisles are always clean. Love that Iceland is there now. Move the new layout. I always go in there looking for something particular and the staff are always there to show me where everything t
Is! Love this place ❤
A. T.
Went with my sister without really having anything in particular that I was looking for, ended up coming away with more than I planned! A great store with lots of choice within a great range of categories, could have bought so much more if I had the time, so a good reason to go back.
H. P.
Had a very helpful assistant help us get a large box down to the tills, unfortunately a couple of other items we brought had gone up in price overnight, we went back to point out that the advertised price was lower to what we had been charged, the assistant on the customer service became rude telling us the price was not for said item, then said they could sell it for the higher price, when we asked for a refund she was quite short with us, a manager tried to help us, but as soon as she left the customer service agent turned again. A pleasant shopping trip turned into a nightmare😔
P. K.
It was shared with Iceland foods in Colchester which was a little bit more confusing. However we found what we wanted.
C. C.
Great for all your need .Great art and crafts
m. h. i.
Very good excellent prices and great service
B. S.
I go to this store for all my art supplies and I'm really impressed on how much Derwent Pencil choice there is.
r. b.
Very good well stocked the emulsion I was looking for was on special offer result
M. C.
Do much choice. Love this store.
B.
So many nice things at great prices
G. B.
Always a great place to get your bits and Bob's for.
J. T.
Decent store, has most things the Range retail at other sites. There's a branch of Iceland the food retailer in store. Nothing more to say really except the store looks a bit tired.
A. W.
The customers toilets entrance is clutters making very difficult with a pram. Every visit the staff don't seem to be even able to manage a smile. I know it's pants working during a plandemic but be nice if staff tried to make the effort.
S. T.
Love this store, but awful location and the car park is too small. With all the new businesses and properties that have been built along the Cowdray Avenue, have made this road more of a nightmare to travel along than before.
D. P.
Great range of arts and crafts stuff 👌
S.
Can meter go in here for 1 thing without coming out with several items
R. D.
They barely had any stock to be honest and many of the lights weren't on so some aisles were really dark
D. M.
The cafe staff was rude and they had no food just a few bits of cake, but the shop was nice and full. I have just received a ticket for 100 as i didn't see the sign that said you could only stay for hour and half, my mum has a bad back so it takes is longer to get around.
R. P.
It is what it is, cheap and sometimes cheerful. But they do have a good RANGE of items (see what I did there)? Carpark is slightly like driving off road, potholes aplenty! Good social distancing measures, including a person on the door to encourage people to use sanatiser. Loved their garden furniture!
M. J.
Magical and full of surprises. Wonderful local store within friendly employees. Clean and plus point customer toilet's for that moment you need to go.
Exceptional value and also has a super cafe upstairs to Chillout.
Wide range of stock for household, Christmas, clothing etc.
Beats hands down any large supermarket in area.
Value for Money!!
M. R.
Iceland in the range sounds strange but if your after picking up provisions whilst buying that lamp you wanted ot that clock from the ranges vast collection then this is the perfect set up it works for me and other people cos it's always busy Iwould recommend it just works.
S. S.
The lighting in The Range Colchester is very poor. Upstairs, it felt like I was shopping in the dark. It's been like this for years. Lights either dim or not working at all. When it rains the roof leaks. This store needs a total overhaul. 😱😱
J. D.
Wanted to buy some fun art and craft items for little ones. Never disappointed at The Range
S. D.
Good all round homeware store. The store has a garden centre and ICELAND within the store.
Level access and reasonable car park although the spaces are a bit tight.
Staff and all helpful.
Good value pricing across the store.
R. I.
Decent store, a bit 'messy' which is odd but not awful. The Iceland inside to make is an 'essential store' makes me laugh. But all in all, decent range in The Range.
G. D.
It has been a while since my wife and I have shopped here. Maybe because it was just before Christmas, the place looked like a bomb had hit it and some of the goods on the shelves were actually damaged, so not really appealing to the eye.
L.
Excellent shop with literally a massive "range" of items at the best prices. You will struggle to find the majority of things sold any cheaper elsewhere. Did notice that they have now added a freezer section for food. Good stock of kitchen products. You can save a fair bit on household items, decorating and DIY
B. M. C.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The lady who served me on the tills even put the wee bathroom mirror I was buying inside of the tea towels I'd bought so it'd be safe in the bag - great attention to detail, and she was really nice too.
Although you can get some homeware/bathroom/kitchen items in bigger supermarkets, the sheer amount of choice here is brilliant - worth making the trip for sure. Like in the kitchen dept. you'll find mutiple options for the same thing are different price points which is great.
Only downsides were it's very dark - you'll notice that as soon as you go in, and I was there in the morning on a sunny day. There was some areas with very limited stock - but I still left with almost everything I'd come in for - perhaps there's supply chain issues at the moment.
R. C.
Great store very friendly staff
R. S.
I always love the Range. I always get the feeling to redecorate whenever I am in the store. They have wide range of stock from home decoration, DIY, gardening, bedroom and living room and even travel right up to sweets and coockies. They do all that. Ohh I love the store. I only have 1 frustration, that is pricing. Either there is no price thug on a product or the price displayed was always wrong. You get that around the home range especially cushions and curtains range. If that could be sorted out, hmmm shopping experience in the range will always be a lovely experience to enjoy like I always do😊😊😊.
G. B.
Perpetually busy, the aisles can be a little closed in, as shoppers can cut through the islands easily. That said, the tannoy does remind shoppers to keep their distance and cover their noses (great call).
As a retailer, they have an extensive choice, including a garden centre and Iceland shop-in-shop. Prices are okay.
Cashiers are very vocal when it gets busy, calling in reinforcements, putting the customer experience first.
A. B.
Had everything needed staff were extremely helpful
j. w.
Never seem to have instore the items i see online
d. w.
Gosh this place is so full of goodies. You can't help but spend money in here ! I didn't get what I went in for but came home armed with Christmas coloured tissue paper and ribbons and it was a joy Helpful staff too!
D. M.
Great shop with plenty of different types of products from a tin of paint to a canoe, it had the Iceland store within which didn’t have a lot of stock on the shelves. Lighting in the store needs addressed, shop was very dark in places
C. H.
A good selection of products, although I have been to other stores in the chain that have a nicer selection. Lots of space wasted upstairs with tat, while the homeware section is squeezed into thin aisles downstairs. Staff friendly store easy to navigate.
A. C.
Lots of stuff in this shop so definitely worth a visit :) got my stuff for bin cages here :)
J. S.
Great place to buy ornaments/craft goods/household items, very good range of stock (no pun intended)
D. g.
Found nearly everything we wanted thank you good service
k. L.
All u need for home, you can buy here
P. E.
The Range is one of my favourite stores, large variety of goods from chocolate to furnishings, great 👍 prices, you definitely get great bargains, highly recommend.
P. A.
Went in this morning to order a hot tub and was seen by a very busy but friendly member of staff by the name of Jazz, she couldn't have done enough to help me. I just wish every shop had staff like her, well done Jazz, keep up the great work!!
N. P.
Very calming place to work for. Mainly nice staff. But a horrible chelcie grimsey who sadly worked on my department as a supervisor and think shes it and not keeping me on to new year. Also leaving it to the main management to tell me christmas eve and couldn't be bothered to face the embarrassment herself to tell me.
H. N.
My local DIY, homewares, gardening, and toys superstore. Comfortable cafe upstairs. Staff are good and knowledgeable. Ample parking space in front of the Range. Please ask for assistance. Accepts cash and bank cards. Staff are well trained in Covid rules. Several sanitising stations in the superstore. Thank you
M.
You could easily spend hours here! Lots of free parking for customers. A huge range of things for sale: home ware (bedroom, lounge, kitchen etc) arts & crafts, pet care, snacks/food, toys, garden ware, furniture, lighting etc. I think there is even a cafe upstairs. Good prices too!
A. T.
Used to be one of my favorite DIY and garden shops. Little bit disorganized in the last time and the joint venture with Iceland has made the mess even worse. Too much time wasted to find something, and everything seems outdated. Sorry.
M. O. (.
I wish they'd stop moving stuff around! Other than that, all good.
H. M.
It's ok. They used to have a massive selection of homeware stuff, candles etc and I used to spend loads there but now it's deteriorated in terms of choice and lines held.
M. C.
Clean tidy,helpfull staff
D. D.
I get quite a few bits and bobs from the range but the main thing to review is a oak king sized bed, and two oak bedside tables. The price and styling are excellent, but when I unpackaged the bedside tables (after having them a little while, as decorating) they were both damaged. One quite badly. Now things go wrong from time to time with any shop/product but how the range dealt with it makes me think I should give them 5 stars. Very friendly, understanding, and replaced with no qualms. Been using the set for over a year now and couldn't be happier.
G. P.
Always a good place to visit. It has a car park for two hours and can be extended at the till. So time for a coffee or tea and snack while you make up your mind to buy some furniture for the home or garden. Maybe other household goods. Perhaps a gift or artificial flowers for a wedding or vase. They also sell crafting items.
F. A.
I really like this store. Good range of bedding at a ready price also duvets and pillows that won't break the bank. Kitchen department has a wide range of products from pots and pans to table clothes. You can get curtains, furniture, rugs. Good craft section.
G. C.
I love crafting & this is a great place to get all sorts of art & craft items. They also have beautiful housewares & gifts at great prices. In fact almost anything you want for the home & garden & even your pets, you'll get here for excellent value. There's always friendly staff to help too. My only complaint is the pricing on the shelves isn't always right so you really need to check or you could get a suprise at the check out (or worse, when you get home!)
E. O.
Shops has a load of variety and lots of stock, staff are very busy but willing to help, friendly and approachable
V. W.
Easy parking, not over busy. Strict covid entry regs although once in some staff on shop floor were not wearing masks. However the staff were friendly and helpful. The new addition of Iceland seemed strange but easily accessible.
B. W.
Insanely fun time. it's got all you need to build a den that you've filled with rescue animals. The car park still has lots of holes but that just adds to the extreme aspect of the store.
R. A.
Yesterday I went there for the first time. Although I moved to Colchester in last year.
I loved this place.
Went to buy some snacks for my daughters from Iceland.
Didn’t even realise there is two shop under one roof.
Bought some Jelly beans etc thing from Range as well.
Unfortunately I Didn't have enough time to browse inside range.
Planning to go there in near future.
There are lot of supermarket around. So Range should do something, like, advertising so people can know about them.
Enough parking space.
Free for two hours.
Staffs are friendly.
Not long in the que.
J. K.
Fantastic range of homely items. Point to make note of is that the tills will not do contactless payment over £45. Staff didn't understand the difference between a contact less chip and pin card and a signal from a phone via biometric security.
R. S.
Usual Range store, interesting mix of goods
I. P.
A great shop that seems to sell everything... but the roof was leaking in multiple places and it seemed to be causing the staff a bit of stress :( I hope it gets fixed soon. Poor staff having to constantly put out buckets.
D. R.
A great choice of mirrors and hand finished canvas pictures. We were looking for artwork to add the finishing touches to our newly decorated hallway. Spoilt for choice. By and far the best place to go for value and quality. Thank you The Range.
A. C.
I went with my wife and friends Christmas shopping. What a great selection of Christmas decorations and toys. Fantastic selection of household items, DIY, Gardening and craft . There's so much to look at you spend more than 2 hours in the store. I recommend a visit to anyone setting up a house who likes a bargain
j. c.
They need to sort out the lift situation, most people collect a trolley from outside, and want to go upstairs, meaning you have to use the disabled lift.
N. B.
Close at 19:30 ! Animal sheet small every where specifically bear to water ! extremely high price for sport activities include family fear . Good for walk but nothing more
Z. C.
Friendly staff. Large range or canvas and mirrors.
A. M.
Great one stop shop for your needs
J. D.
Love The Range. But this store Needs to sort out the noisy grating escalators. I came in just before Christmas and the noise was unbearable then, and it hasn't been sorted . I feel for the staff having to work with that noise.
That aside, great products, friendly staff
M. H.
got everything you need and friendly stuff
C. R.
Alright, has a bit of everything and anything, staff are friendly enough, only thing I don't like is the inclusion of Iceland, seems a bit pointless.
D. E.
Obviously having a major sort as couldnt find anything. Went to get small table helped by a lovely lady downstairs who told me they were upstairs. Went back upstairs two colleagues standing talking interrupted them and asked for help. Showed the picture of what i wanted and was bluntly told 'we have none in stock!' And continued their conversation. Rude! These were management as not in uniforn.
J. B.
Huge shop with a huge, err, range of products. Ended up here thrice this week and generally positive experiences all three times.
R. C.
A good place to visit especially if you enjoy craft. Lots of different crafts from painting to card making knitting and much more. The selection of goods is wide I think when it's closer to Christmas you could buy most of your gifts in this store and I will add that the parking if free.
D. J.
A vast range of useful items. Particularly good for frames, art and craft materials, gardening paraphernalia, all at reasonable prices. Also they stock a huge selection of retro sweets and boxed chocs, which are always worth a browse.
C. T.
There you can find any kind of things.
k. c.
Lots of goodies.. Need a whole day to look around.. Bargains galore
B. G.
Great shop, great products, brilliant curtains and matching cushion covers, great service
B. D.
Can never just pop in here for or just one thing. Always come out with loads of craft items and stuff for my pets. There's so much home decor and diy stuff too. Good prices for good quality. Only downside is it feels a little gloomy and not especially friendly, although not hostile.
L.
Wide range of produce well priced . I give The Range only 3 stars though because they can make you feel like a criminal by not allowing you into the store with a large bag. They target certain people who they just don't like the look of. Very bad customer relations .
C. S. C.
Always full of bargains for every shopper.
P. P.
Older building but a good size stocking the usual range bits and bobs. Uneven car park so watch your footing. The only issue I have with all the ranges I go to is the time it takes to get through the checkout. Staff are quite friendly and will show you where a product is.
A. N.
Large selection of homewares, Household tools, home decoration, garden plants. Great addition now Iceland have their freezers in the food section. Shop at the right time as parking can be an issue. Good Covid signage and tracking of numbers within the store. Hand sanitisation upon entry to the store. Escalator to access the first floor as well as a disabled lift at the rear of the store.
S. T.
Sells amazing range of arts and crafts, plus furniture, lighting, Christmas lights and decs in the autumn/ winter. Cushions, mirrors, clocks, rolls of fabric, kitchenware, paint, plus gardening and pet related items. There's a cafe too.
Decor dingy. Needs a revamp, brightening up. But ignoring that, it's a good place to shop for items mentioned, esp arts and crafts.
L. P.
Great selection of items of all departments you need something the range has probably got it! And the Iceland freezer section is incredible!
p. s.
The shops is great and all, the only problem is the parking. It's so hard to get into and once you finally have it's impossible to find a space! Not to mention the fact that you then have to get out again! But once you've actually got in the shop's pretty good. The question is...Is it good enough to go through all the pain of the terrible parking?
By the way it took us an hour to get into the car park and 20 minutes to find a space.
A. C.
Colchester's The Range is an awesome place with the friendliest staff and great things to buy as they also have an awesome Iceland's inside now.
Really Colchester's The Range is now the place to get a complete shop from weekly food shops to completely kitting out your house and home, or crafting and DIY
M. J.
Its was nice. They have pretty much anything you could want for the home. Staff very freindly and helpful. Got lost in the christmas section for way too long 😂😂🎅🎅. Nice store and in current conditions well organised.
S. S.
Well presented shop with everything you need for home decoration. It has toys, Christmas stuff, some basic groceries (crisps and chocolate), cookware and there's even a café on the top floor of the store.
However, I'm removing a star since they fined me for parking there for 2 hours even though I spent that time shopping in the store. Although they removed the fine once I posted them a receipt, the process was very stressful and annoying.
D. D.
One of the best places to go shopping on a budget. The shop has ample parking and it's easy to reach when visiting Colchester. The shop itself is stylishly designed and organised in the inside. The cost of many items are on a budget but very stylish. The staff I have come across so far have always been professional and polite. I would 100% recommend visiting this shop.
S. D.
This is a very large shop which has two levels. There's a lift as well as stairs and a toilet. They sell most things and at a reasonable price. The Cafe on the second floor to sit and have a drink while looking over the shop.
J. W.
Great place to pick up all the bits you need in one place
R. B.
Need a light bulb? Get it here. Need a mirror? Get it here. Need some curtains? Get it here. Need some pet food? Get it here. Need some crushed biscuits? Get it here. I'm sure by now you get the idea. They pretty much sell everything and it's all reasonably priced. Some nice home furnishings here too including some quirky and interesting pieces. Oh yeah, they do these rabbit pellets that my bunny is crazy over. Please never stop selling them.
G. H.
I love the range, a great selection of products at good prices. One of the best shops in Colchester for Halloween and Christmas decorations. One small complaint, I visited the store in September, where I picked up a case to carry my laptop.
I got to the checkout only to be told it wad wrongly priced, they would only let me buy it at the higher price, to which I said no. A few weeks later I visited again and to my surprise the bags where back on the shelf, at the same price (different labels as they had ripped of the wrong price while I was there last time) so I thought they must have made an error last time and decided to buy it again.
When I got to the checkout I was told the price was still wrong and again told I could only buy it at the higher price. I was a bit more annoyed this time as it felt like they were trying to trick people into paying more money. I'm sure that was not the case, however to make the same error twice is not good.
I feel they should have let me purchase this at the lower price as a gesture of good will.
J. C.
Once again I managed to get nearly everything I was looking for. Helpful staff too.
L. K.
The range is one of my favourite shops to visit. I love the products that they have in store. They have a wide variety of products at affordable prices. My favourite one to visit is the one in Colchester Essex. I have bought so much from the range over the years. The staff members are amazing. In December 2015 I needed to buy Christmas decorations for my flat. I have the rarest form of autism which is called Asperges syndrome. I live in a flat where I have support workers come in and help me on a day to day basis. It was the first time decorating my flat for Christmas so I went to the range. The female member of staff was great. She gave me so many great ideas and she showed me where everything in the store was. I felt like I had my own personal shopper helping me.
J. P.
Lots of products, but prices are competitive. Staff aren't overly interactive and were discussing private life while on the shop floor. Gave 3 stars due to car park and prices. Will still visit again!
D. M.
Was extremely busy, there are still people who don't adher to the 2mtr ruling even though the store has plenty of signs around the store reminding people. The Christmas decorations isles were a little bit low.
L. A.
The Manager Lenny was extremely helpful and friendly. He could not do enough for us when we were looking for a particular item. Very happy with item purchased. (Sadly, the supervisor (female) was surly and unhelpful).
M. T.
Prices are good.
Just as its name implies, you'll get different ranges of all home and garden items you are looking for, there's a choice for every person's preference I believe.
R. B.
Great thanks shop, found what we wanted, able to park close and get good prices.
S. S.
Managed to get what I needed but not the best of car parks as not able to park straight away.
M. C.
Veŕy nice shop so much choice
Nice for snacks.Once you managed to get there LIFT NOT WORKING found
ESCALATOR GOES TO FAST
For customer's with all difficulties as well as families
A. K. N.
I love range but I hope they should change building and customer service not very well
J. D.
Love the range and now they have an iceland section makes it evan better 😁
A.
Odd arrangement of selling cheaper stuff
L. W.
The lovely lady Dawn in Iceland was very helpful. Lots of lovely arts and crafts bits and garden activities. So good now iceland is inside it.
S. H.
Great range of items for home and garden. They also offer interesting seasonal items, plants and furniture.
This is one of my go to places for craft materials including professional artists equipment.
They sell animal bedding and food for a full range of domestic pets, have lovely water features for children to look at, a wise selection of plants for house and garden, paint and decorating materials, storage solutions, domestic cleaning equipment and products, bedding, mirrors, bathroom accessories, picture frames are the best value outside IKEA, sweets (lots of sweets and snacks... Obviously near the till so stressed out parents gave to fend off their children's pleas while the queue up!!!!)
Also camping equipment, accessories and large range of fairy lights along with toys (upstairs)
There is a cafe, which I've never used but told is nice. Beware though, the car park is parking eye monitored and you only get 2hrs. I have been caught out with this
K. G.
Not as good as it used to be, several ranges not available.
Iceland are in there now as well, so less stock.
Also people not socially distancing, I saw one guy and one staff member without a mask. People not adhering to going in one door and out another.
Felt very uncomfortable. 🙁
E. M.
I love The Range in Colchester it had everything I needed for my son's birthday party . football banners football tablecloths etc. Football pencil case pencils and ribbon for the cake I made xx
J. W.
So much stuff for the home at really good prices. Not always the best quality but for things you change often First Class. Car park is a bit on the small side at busy times.
s. b.
Christmas shopping here today was made even better by the amazing Father Christmas that was in store . He looked and sounded like the real thing. He had time for all the children and he was holding and talking to a baby who was only a few weeks old as if it was the natural thing for him to do. He was so lovely..Well done the Range. Will certainly be doing more christmas shopping here.
T. B.
Very good and has lceland
C. W.
It's good, but wish they would update the stock levels online. Also never buy self assembly furniture from them.nothing but problems
M. R.
Went to the range today and accidently locked my keys in my car had left thw window open a tiny bit but couldnt reach handle well a young worker Ryan came to the rescue and after a few attempts with coat hangers etc was able to open the door what a life saver so helpful calm and well mannered .. am so grateful to him thankyou again Ryan you are like gold dust and anywhere you work are lucky to have you on their team x
J. A.
So much stuff! Virtually everything under one roof. Sometimes not a lot of things that I actually want or need, but the occasional successful visit. This being one of them!
Car park has very small spaces!
P. w.
Has most things that you need staff are friendly if you can find them on the shop floor the one disappointing thing is the fact that their refund policy is absolutely diabolical the fact that they do not do refunds without a receipt I understand that is the most procedures in some places when they know it's their product that they are so rigid on that they could be a little bit more flexible even if you could show that you purchased it on your bank statement they could look it up on their system would be much better
L. W.
Its a great shop and has something for everyone, as well as having very reasonably priced DIY stuff it also has plants, house wares, a bit of everything. I am always popping to The Range, the cafe upstairs does a great jacket potato too!
F. F.
Who doesn't like The Range , it's filled with everything you want and that you believe you need. It's all round brilliance.
G. R.
They now sell frozen food!!!! Who knew? I guess it is a way of staying open through covid. They always have an eclectic mix of products which is worth having a look.
J. A.
Don't take your purse! I always find something to buy even if I don't need it! Lovely ornament selection and canvas pictures great value.
g. r.
This place is evil. I think it may actually be impossible to just go in for one item!
The range in The Range is wide and the prices are more than reasonable. To date I have never been able to come here with my wife to just browse or pick up one item that is needed.
The Range offers a brilliant selection for the major holidays and seasons, especially Summer, Christmas and Halloween.
On a day to day basis they offer items for the entire home and a good selection for gardening and hobbies. Its one of my favourite shops in Colchester for the useful stuff and party decorations throughout the year.
M. R.
I love this shop you can decorate your house so cheap with so many colours designs etc you can also get thoughtful gifts here furniture upstairs arts and crafts escalator or a lift toilet would love the shop to be bigger and a lot more of them but we'll worth a visit
M. S.
Ok store been there a few times. Has a variety of things. But a bit hit and miss in finding things I wanted.
D. C.
Love love love this place, be prepared to spend quite some time in here as there's so much to mooch. Furniture, garden, household, pets, and so much more. Grab a drink and a bite to eat in the upstairs cafe. Lifts are available for those with a disability or bag of shopping 😃
P.
Wonderful selection of Christmas decorations as always, and efficient and friendly checkout.
D. H.
Very busy on a sunday afternoon. Sanitizer on the way in not many people social distancing and at this time most no face masks. Still 99% of the time has what you need or want. Or 100% of stuff you don't need..lol
G. C.
Lots of reasonably priced stock...from home, craft, toys, decorating, materials, furniture, garden and animal requirements. This large store has parking but is very popular so usually very busy.
S. M.
The Range look good product things what you need it like electricity, cushion, etc.. but I think expensive
K. E.
Great for art supplies which is what I wanted
A. H.
Absolutely love this place. They always seem to have everything in stock and staff are very friendly and helpful
I. C.
Can always find what I'm looking for at a reasonable price. Access to and from here can be very busy. Don't go over the parking time or you will get a fine sent to you. If you think your going to go over the time period contact the staff in store with your registration number and they will sort it for you.
T. A.
Good procedure during lockdown sanitizer for your hands and trolleys already sanitized. I went quite early so it was nice and quiet, it was a peaceful Shopping experience.
S. H.
Huge selection and very competitive prices - even better now they have Iceland in-store
A. S.
Great items, good prices and very helpful and friendly staff.
L. H.
Good shop pretty much sell a bit of everything...worth checking out if you keep fish or reptiles would never have thought to go here but have quite big selection of stuff all pretty cheap
L. D.
Amazing, you had nothing we needed so my mum didn't spend 4 hours browsing various tubs.
Would reccomended.
K. S.
They have a large selection of household items. I wanted to buy some material off the roll which they don't do anymore but, they have lots of curtains to choose from.
K. B.
Shop with a wide selection of housewares, DIY and pet supplies. Lift not working so unable to go upstairs.
T. D.
An excellent store for Christmas decorations and homeware
B. “.
So much stuff packed into a small space, i had forgotten what i went in for i found loads of stuff i am going to by over the next few weeks. anyway i woke up and asked someone where the thing was i wanted i was pointed in the rite place happy days. I have no problems with Range. 😊
T. M.
As well as a good choice of low cost items, the cafe offers better than you might expect quality food. As many will know, parking and particularly leaving the location can be a problem due to traffic and traffic lights.
K. B.
It's good, queues can get a bit long at times though!
A. G.
Good selection of household items and it's well laid out. Not very efficient check-out staff though. Don't expect much help... or much of an IQ
A. H.
A great range of home and garden products including; seasonal goods, kitchenware and even a small grocery department with food from Iceland.
G. G.
Had to queue for a short while once at the entrance a member of staff offered hand sanitiser and I was allowed into the shop. Well organised, I felt safe.
J. H.
Only went in for coffee to kill 30mins. Looks to have a good selection of house wares for sale, and the quality looks good. The coffee was pleasant although dearer than I would normally pay.
A. S.
Good range of products at reasonable prices. Car park a bit awkward and checkout a bit slow but other than that ok
a. w.
Nice place. Good 'range' of items ! Pets, home wear, furniture, snacks/sweets, cafe, toilets. Cafe staff member less than attentive on our last visit which put us off slightly. Nice place overall.
L. W.
Found everything I was looking for. Such a good selection of Christmas decorations
R.
Very busy . Queues build up quick . Staff ain't the most helpful . Young ones never seem to know where anything is.. overall it's a good shop for different items
D. M.
A decent enough ragtag mix of a store selling a wide range of budget goods. I personally don't visit here often as it doesn't usually sell anything that interests me. Furnishings sold here are usually low quality and tacky. Food is an odd range of budget brands. The store hasn't been updated much since it was a B&Q in the 90s, and feels very dated like many lots on Cowdray. The car park is a complete joke of a rubble pit that could do with being resurfaced.
F. O.
This being one of the very, very few craft places in our area, is a great place to visit, I do love the 'bare basics' range, the real wood items are excellent, but they are terrible at ink pads, and they now only stock Fimo polymer clay, no Premo and certainly no Pardo, Cernit or Kato! Really they tend more towards kid's stuff or names you've never heard of, and a lot of the stuff is intensely flowery or fru-fru, minimal good designs if any. However, the advantage of The Range is that they also do DIY and household stuff. So you can get a tin of external yacht varnish, household ammonia, some new tea towels, and dog treats at the same time, topped off by a coffee in the cafe at the finish.
I do buy canvases here, they have a good range of those, paints too, watercolour, oils and acrylics.
C.
Good size store but always stacks of bits to be put out in florals area and never seems to be put out
J. V.
Great all around shop. Make sure you keep receipts though as refunds will not be made unless you have them to show on return, should you need to.
L. T.
Excellent food and a very good price try it.
S. W.
There's something for everyone, from Paint, furniture, pet food, lighting, pictures, ornaments, DIY goods, toiletries, plant's, crisps, cakes,
Also a small coffee shop, plenty of parking,
J. V.
Recently popped in here for a bit of a gander. The staff are AMAZING!! They were so helpful and patient - best customer service I’ve had in a long time. Thanks guys - keep up the good work!
T. R.
The service was impeccable, the cashier couldn't be more helpful as we'd bought way more than we could carry in one go (my bad), excited about furnishing and decorating our new home , went out of her way to ensure we received the best experience possible
A. S.
A great selection of housewares and DIY, lovely restaurant too.
L. E.
It's alright, just a very bad egg smell in there
R. R.
I expected *clears throat* a better range of products :D
S. C.
An excellent choice of placemats. We found what we were looking for.
Staff were helpful.
We bought 5 items, which were much needed all in the Range. Very pleased
G. S.
Going slightly down hill as its not as good any more
A. T.
A fantastic shop!! My absolute favourite, for art material. Arts and crafts. Beautiful crafts pictures kitchenware for home etc. You have to go and explore...
C. P.
Excellent store. Plenty of parking and amazing selection of products. Pets and garden sections are great. Has furniture and lamps upstairs.
E. L.
Popped in for a bite to eat. Disappointed at lack of items available for a low carb diet. Being diabetic my option s were very limited. Everything came with white bread or pastry.
R.
Extremely helpful lady on soft furnishings. I wish I'd taken her name. She was petite with dark hair and a Eastern European accent. Full marks!
b. m.
HelpfulStaff a wide range of products competitive prices sometimes overstocked cramp too much on one section and and prices not always present on the shelves or item generally a good store
P. L.
Good range of household products of every kind, great for a browse
J. P.
Does everything you need to make your home lovely, watch out though as you could easily spend a fortune as I did 😁
L. R.
Love this shop has an Iceland inside and a great choice of goodies
J. D.
Didn't have tie dye kit but the store had good arrangement for covid19 safety so that was good.
V. V.
Good stock. You can buy almost everything for your house. Also for cars. My wife loves the craft area.
S. P.
Staff always friendly and helpful. Excellent wide variety of goods at a very reasonable price and good quality.
K. T.
Good stuff just not a place I would go to often as it feel crowed and unwelcoming with staff watching your every move.
N. L.
It was ok, the store was quite unorganised in certain areas
D. F.
Good range of products
S. B.
Had loads of different items to choose from.
T. S.
Always found what I'm looking for, added bonus now have an Iceland in the store,
S. M.
Had everything I needed in stock in store. Worth checking out this shop if you need anything as they stock a lot of different items, household, animal, craft, DIY, gardening etc at reasonable prices.
h. b.
Went really early so it wasn't busy at all.. Great selection of stuff as always
R. W.
During this difficult period I have got to say that The Range Colchester has been the most adaptive outlet to this situation.
The staff are superb and the 2mtr system that they have adopted together with the handspray and explanation leaves others like Tesco etc etc standing.
Well done guys. It's all much appreciated
D. C.
Very helpful staff.
Well laid out and plenty of product choice.
R. W.
I find the layout of this store messy and confusing. Whenever I have been it has been difficult to navigate round the store. Great for gardening bits but otherwise I would really avoid
S. P.
Pretty comprehensive stock but price range on items varies
C. C.
Wide selection of products, not too tricky to find what you are looking for.
Bit of queuing to get in but with current restrictions, not too bad!
M. E.
Absolutely amazing staff I needed new bedding and I have a disability so the young ladies managed to get me everything I needed so helpful
I will definitely shop here again
I would like to thank all the staff for your kind help and I must admit I had the best night sleep awesome quality stuff for a very good price :)
P. W.
Lots of choice. Some items seem a little odd.
D. D.
Love the range always got so much choice. Staff were polite and helpful
J. G.
Full has most things you need, however service tills are usually busy so you'll need time to browse or go at quieter times.
M. W.
A very good store to find things you do not find in over store's
S.
Nice selection of Christmas goods, shame about the terrible parking.
F. A. T. B.
A decent selection of products, especially DIY stuff at good prices.
Only problem is its location which gets jammed at certain times of day (weekends, rush hours and after school) and will get worse when the housing is built behind it but that is Colchester all over.
A. P.
Good old toot shop
V. S.
Was very surprised to see how big this shop is. I would compare it to B&Q to some extent. Was in a hurry so didn't manage to explore their rang of products. The location is a bit off though, not very eye catching.
S. L.
Wide range of goods in the store as name indicates. Prices are reasonable as well compared to high street stores. Can be a bit busy at times with lack of staff to cope.
S. m.
This Range is huge with so many products. It has a upstairs and also a cafe. The customer toilets are located on the ground floor. Lot's of parking outside.
D. w.
A bit weird that Iceland is in the range but heck, it doesn't really make a difference.
Love it.
C. “.
Staff are always happy to help. Good selection of products.
N. Q.
And for all card making supply's they are there now alongside the ever so helpful staff

C. P.
Car parks pretty big. Always something unusual in store. Good place to take the kids. Can feel alittle cramped at times.
S. K.
Quite a good range of items here. Enjoyed shopping here and staff serving me were friendly and helpful.
P. C.
Sells a variety of homewares at a good price. Parking is pretty bad. There is a customer toilet and small cafe.
J. L.
Pretty typical store with generally helpful staff, tends to have most things you'd want for homewares, DIY, garden, pets or crafts.
G. C.
Good value items and cover a wide range goods. Excellent service and parking.
J. M.
Nice selection of items, always find what you want at good prices.
P. A.
Great prices and great hours except upstairs its hot temperature wise and stuffy!
A. M.
It's good but a few areas were closed off in the store and we couldn't access all the items
S. G.
The range is a great store. Getting a bit pricey now though.... Not as much craft stuff as before and that's letting them down I think
F. O.
Amazing variety of stock. Great for craft, pet items, frames. Good stock for both home and garden.
A. B.
Variety of items for household at very moderate prices
Still good old Range
K. S.

J. H.
It's a long time since I've visited this store in Colchester as i go infrequently. Loved the choice of products, Covid arrangements in store were v good.
F. N.
What a mad house lol. I come here to buy the fire log things. When you walk in it always looks empty but when you come to pay don't think your getting out quickly. Good shop though.
D.
Not always the cheapest but so much on offer from kitchen stuff to children's toys, pet care, care care, wife care, shed care. I could go. Just pop in, comes well recommended.
M. W.
Lots of things to look at and really good prices. This store was quite small and pokey, not much room to manoeuvre about. Carpark was tight and busy.
M. F.
Very nice place to shop, great prices
D. C.
This place seems to look quite dated and overall the store seems quite cluttered. Staff seem to be friendly enough but can tell they don't really want to be there. Have always come out with half the stuff i need due to not having it in stock or its not what i was looking for.
J. K.
Very good product range and layout
O. T. F.
Has all your needs from arts and crafts to gardening. good prices
D. C.
Always good, even better now icelands in it.

Not enough choice for paint. Having to go to B&Q now.
A. M.
Stocks of many things in store are depleted due to lack of lorry drivers.
J. M.
Good range of products, no queuing at checkout. Helpful staff to help you find the things you need
Z. F.
The range is great, i buy all my art stuff from there. Always have what i need and good little snacks near the till, just what i like.

J.
Poor selection of Xmas lights, staff was not happy too help.

L. R.
Love the range.. so much choice and the price is soooo good. Definitleybthebpkace to go for cheistmas decs and home decor.. thoroughly recommend
a. d.
Wide range of 'different' stock at low prices. Car park is a bit cramped in this age of SUVs and people carriers
T. W.
Hardly anything in stock they have run out of a lot of things
A. M.
OK place but definitely not if you want high end stuff. A lot of their products look a bit cheap. But I guess you get what you pay for.
l.
Wide range of products from home to garden, kind of an all in one shop. Good prices and pretty good quality too.
S. V.
Good range of products, including a garden centre which not all Ranges do.
p. s.
The range is always good for a mooch round.. Good bargains and helpful and friendly staff A++++
M. C.
Great shop for arts and crafts supplies of all sorts, and for cheap home decoration items (frames, mirrors, nicknacks).
P. C.

A good store to wander around, with a pleasant cafeteria. Great range particularly of artist's supplies/ materials.

D. L.
Okay, but special offer products are in limited supply and staff are always a great help. Not rude or unhelpful, but could just be more helpful.
G. H.
Highly dangerous for your wallet. You go in for bin liners and tea towels and come out with a new sofa, rugs for the front room, a kettle, plants for the conservatory and a bag of maltesers lol.
M. H.
Friendly staff, amazing variety of products, good covid social distancing and hygiene practices in place.
H. E.
Hadn't been to a Range in years before I went here and gosh there is a "range" of items. Everything I could have needed and more! Brilliant!

R. B.
Every thing is crammed in this store to allow ice land to share place?
L. H.
Love this place. Always spend too much money. Great that it also has in store toilets and cafe.
V. C.
Very helpful staff. Lift for disabled. Cafe on site. Lots of different depths within the store. Recommended
