Amazing service!!! Ordered a mirror for the garden and it was delivered the next day by their own driver who was super friendly and helpful. He even took away all the packaging for me. The mirror is really good quality and looks fab in the garden. Will certainly be ordering again and recommending.

I started off feeling a little bit miff off with Bennett regarding tracking of my package.
Was a birthday present so there was a added anxiety.
But the communications between Debbie threw email was top notch. It was actually parcelforce that didn't provide me with tracking until they delivered the item an I received it an 9.20 pm.
The package was wrapped great the box inside an wrapping was a perfect example of care I will definitely be ordering from bennets again was a great experience an I was even more impressed when the item arrived. Great work from the staff at Bennetts.
Massive thank you.

A real treasure. Beautiful independent department store, in a beautiful part of the city. They stock, fashion items, cosmetics, kitchen and cooking equipment, house hold furniture, fabrics, and gardening tools, literally a one stop shop! The cafe looks really nice too although I didn't eat there. The staff that I spoke with were truly lovely. Support this site with your money!!

Had champagne breakfast as a birthday/retirement celebration, and what a treat!
Our table was reserved and when we arrived it had a birthday balloon with celebration table confetti and 2 handmade greeting cards - what a lovely touch.
The service was excellent throughout the 5 courses.
Champagne and a glass of orange juice made up the first course and after seeing the extensive menu, we all opted for a liquid 2nd course; delicious breakfast cocktail (thoroughly recommended).
Anyone managing to complete the full English deserves a medal! Buttermilk pancakes with ice cream and strawberries, with a pot of tea completed one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten. I have already recommended it to friends.
Hopefully it wont be too long before I am back.

Beautiful shop dating back decades. Selling housey stuff, country clothing, beauty ranges, lovely gifts etc and everything is top quality. A very nice gallery cafe/restaurant on the first floor serves delicious home cooked food including afternoon teas, brunches, lunches etc

Reputed to be oldest independent department store. Only department store in the Cathedral Quarter. Because of the age of the building access is restrictive but has been updated and staff on hand to help. High quality goods throughout. Good selection of ladies and gents clothing. Upper floor furnishing department. Ideal for a special gift. Cafe and restaurant. Definitely worth a visit.

Lisa Jean is a fabulous place to eat. Just had an excellent Sunday lunch, served by really friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I've had breakfast here several times and it's the best in Derby

Came here for a Mother's Day meal. Unfortunately forgot to take any pictures but the food was delicious. Wide variety of choices for starters, mains and deserts. I had a haddock risotto which was cooked perfectly. It was my second Mother's Day here and would gladly come again.

Amazing store which is like stepping back in time. Really helpful and knowledgeable staff and a vast range over a slightly sprawling layout. This is not their fault because it's the old building where they had to use every nook and cranny to show their products. However they carry some truly high-end items that I don't think you'll be able to find elsewhere in Derby so absolutely worth a visit.

I booked afternoon tea for Christmas Eve and the overall quality was very good the tea selection was adequate and food was good however the staff's attire and ability to do their duties was slightly disappointing. They were not helped by the layout of the venue which effectively is a narrow horse shoe of raised area above the department store (we were told it used to be a ball room which is a nice idea) however the lack of space was very bad and for a table of 8 we were tucked in a narrow side with people coming and going behind our table.
The price isn't overly expensive but we had champagne and high tea for 8 which was just shy of £250. It would be good for them to suggest refills on the food and drink and to create some atmosphere of experience. The music was very mainstream and generic and after all of it I would not go again. Try Betty's tea Room in York or many places even hotels in London and you will have a far better experience.

The oldest department store ( in the world?). Good tea room and separate bistro. Access if disabled not so straight forward however as tea room on first floor but lift is available. Up market place in terms of market placement.

To eat in the brasserie restaurant, Lisa Jean's, in Bennett's is to imagine yourself on an Art Deco Ship such as the Normandie in its heyday. The oval room with its beautiful ceiling, coving and strainless steel balustrading really does evoque that epoch.
I've previously only had Sunday lunch there which was delicious but today we were invited along by friends to enjoy the champagne breakfast. They'd already told us how fabulous it was but even so we were pleasantly surprised. The kedgeree was the most delicious I have ever had and I can't wait to return to have it again! The menu choice is phenomenal and everything we had was executed beautifully.
One wouldn't expect to find this level of attention to detail, delicious food and excellent service in what has become a backwater of Derby and I would encourage anyone who enjoys things done in style to avoid the food courts and chain restaurants that pepper our shopping centres and visit Lisa Jean's. You won't be disappointed.

Beautiful shop in a conservation area. Extensive range of quality goods and old fashioned service with a great cafe and a more formal bistro. Make a point of leaving Intu to visit it.

I like this store,it's got many great products on display. I enjoy eating in the cafe and also the restaurant. Also a good ironmongery department. Well worth a visit.

Met girlfriends for lunch in Bennett's cafe and enjoyed the Provencal tart & salad from the specials board. Good choice of light lunch options with gluten free bread available on request.

I love this shop, and usually see it as the highlight of the shopping day. It's a great shop with a warm family feeling, and the selection of goods is very impressive. Well worth a visit. I only wish more towns had them.

Love the oldworld feel of this store so different from the the intu centre. Always eat at Lisa Jeans in the store upstairs at the back. Wonderful fresh cooked food, friendly helpful staff.

I had the best customer service possible last week from Neil and Mark in homewares. I was trying to source a Loet Vanderveen sculpture for my husband's birthday and fully expected it to take weeks, as I'd tried some other suppliers to no avail. Neil and Mark liaised with their supplier very efficiently and followed up assiduously to get exactly the lion sculpture I was looking for and make sure it got to me in time, much against my expectations of what would be possible. The lion was absolutely gorgeous and I was delighted to have it wrapped and ready for my husband's birthday. Thanks massively to for your help in facilitating this miracle and with such a helpful, efficient and patient manner. Top flight customer service of which Bennetts should be extremely proud.

Had a champagne 50th breakfast with the family today. It was exceptional, the staff are a credit to the business and the food simply 5star. See for yourselves!

We regularly eat at Lisa Jean's in Bennetts. The food and service are superb. Best full English in Derby. I would recommend it to anyone.

What a shame that the old shop will close and the business transfer elsewhere. Heritage is important but I guess on-going repairs were neglected and now a small fortune needs to be spent if the building is to survive.

Derby's first department store, and possibly the first in Britain. It is a shame that most people just focus their shopping trips in the Intu Centre, and do not venture further afield.
* Definitely worth a visit. *

Interesting department store with good selection of beauty, clothing and homeware goods. Great gift selection. Wide range of high end beauty and fashion sold here
P. D.
A proper traditional department store, been around since the dawn of time and fantastic for gifts for hard to buy for types, quirky ranges and a nice traditional tea shop
A. E. Z.
Great place to shop and a wonderful place to have a coffee. Very civilised and you can really relax.
G. S.
Best shop in Derby! It's a little antiquated but that adds to it's attraction. Sells lots of higher end items and has a nice restaurant.

It's lovely..more people need to shop here..we can't lose this place to the likes of the INTU centre! Go..shop and keep this place going! 👍
K. W.
Lots to look at but sometimes it feels like the seasonal section has been thrown together. It used to look as nice as the rest of the store but it was a little dissapointing.
H. G.
We had our breakfast there as usual on Thursdays and would recommend it to everyone.
A. F.
Quirky local department store selling everything from tools to kitchen ware to clothes. Great cafe too

Good food, nice venue, caters for parties and only a minute from Long Eaton town centre.

Wish there were more old fashioned, quality, department stores like this. The only place I bother to visit in Derby.

What can you say about Bennett's,
It's a Derby institution,
And as you are all aware in danger of being closed down, which would be a awful loss,
Stick your head in and have a look round,
The staff are amazing and so friendly and helpful,

Traditional department store. Great shopping to be had. Traditional but lightyears ahead of generic shopping centres in my opinion
R. M.
The best shop in Derby and probably the oldest department store in the world. Est. in 1734!
