Reviews of John Lewis & Partners

I love the new John Lewis at st James. They have a great menswear and home department, staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Plus they have new areas dedicated to home and personal styling. You can book a free men or women personal styling session or talk to their interior designers. You just can get that service anywhere else. Highly recommended
A. T.
Amazing place and JL generally has the best stock from the most recent releases of perfumes and a beautiful variety of cosmetics and a great shoe collection. Happy smiling Salesforce and a particular staff member, Julie, was truly exceptional. Great buys, a bit on higher side though 😜 👍🏼
S. H.
A friend told us to go here for the view and for the coffee. I looked out of our hotel room and saw it! We had 2nd breakfast here as the store opened at 9am. A cappuccino and a cheddar scone. A self-serve microwave is in the dining room where I warmed my scone. The staff was attentive and helpful.

Spacious John Lewis with helpful and friendly staff. Great views from the higher floors which makes the shopping experience more enjoyable. If you are going during the weekend, it is still fairly quiet between 9am and 10am
Y.
More than shopping in John Lewis, good place to spend time with friends, pick gifts, and get professional advice on specific products or brands.
Recommend the fifth floor cafe to have a shopping break while appreciating beautiful desserts and window views.
Enjoyable experience and super supportive and amazing John Lewis partners⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Update: The place the eat is open and serving nice canteen food on the top floor. It's relatively calmer than the main restaurants in the shopping centre so I'd recommend a visit for at least a cup of tea.
What's better than a John Lewis store? A brand new John Lewis store! They have great range and the store is well organised. There are all the usual ranges and items on display. The staff seem active and helpful. There is also a cute cafe at the top floor. My only comment is that there isn't much natural light besides the stairwell, especially when browsing. I would recommend you stop by if you like John Lewis.

Customer service is very good. It was a quiet and cool atmosphere. This was exactly what we needed after a busy day visiting Edinburgh Tattoo and fringe festivals. Quality of drinks and food is good.
The repertoire is the classic you can find in all John Lewis: tea coffee biscuits cake, hot sandwiches. Ice cream in a tub( vanilla, strawberry and cream, chocolate, caramel). There was a delicious lemonade and a strawberry and mint frappe.
Well done, John Lewis

Entered the Edinburgh store recently because my ‘shop a holic’ daughter was taking ages in other shops and thought I’d have a browse! Looking for thing in particular even though I had a big birthday meal the following weekend. I thought I’d just see if I could pick up a bargain.
Not only did I leave with a fabulous dress, was made to feel very special by MYRA and her team in the fitting rooms, they were absolutely gorgeous, they quickly appeared with an alternative to something I had picked up and it was fabulous, the compliments I received was lovely and it was all down to their friendly helpful nature and a good eye for what works. Thank you so much, my new place for clothes shopping, even if I’m an hour away on the train! xxx thank you, chocolates are fab too ❤️

A great location. Make sure you take time out for a snack in the Place to Eat restaurant at the top as the views over the city are amazing. The store is great over 6 levels with the normal array of designers. Staff very helpful and friendly.
M. S.
Enjoyed lovely soup for lunch and back again for tea and cake. The surroundings were lovely with great views. And our food was delicious. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great place to eat.
C. Z.
Had a great experience at the Lancôme counter. The saleslady was super friendly and helpful. Purchased a face cream and she gave me some free samples as gifts. Will definitely come back again.
B. W.
We recently ordered a Miele freestanding freezer online. The whole process from ordering to delivery was easy and efficient. JLewis kept us informed at every stage. The delivery was on time and the men were very helpful, caring and polite. This is service at its best. Later when loading the freezer we found a small piece of broken plastic from a drawer front so I went to the store and I spoke to Dave in technical support who was also very helpful. By the next day he had ordered us a new drawer and phoned me exactly at the time he said he would. I am impressed and happy with my purchase.

Was looking for Bed and Bathroom accessories to take back to an Asian Country. Excellent and quality range, and well within my budget. The Coffee was a welcome bonus . Highly recommended.
D. C.
This is a great store with a massive variety of products for every room in the house. They always aim for quality at competitive prices. There is a large restaurant serving hot and cold food and a variety of drinks If you are browsing be allow a couple of hours.
M. H.
Fantastic service on baby department and good value for money
L. J.
Now open in St James Quarter and accessed on all levels the store has retained its original layout. It still has quality products and excellent service, all at competitive prices. On the fifth floor is 'The Place to Eat' serving drinks, cakes and hot food. There are a good selection of yummy cakes and drinks. Full height windows give marvellous views over Edinburgh looking to the River Forth, but these could do with a good clean outside.
J. D.
A nice city centre department store, spread over many floors makes it a bit more awkward to navigate than some but still ok. Friendly staff and good products.
F. H.
Had a brilliant experience at John Lewis Edinburgh the other day, receiving a lot of help from a sales advisor called David who walked us through our options for a double buggy. Clearly a guy who knew his stuff and was willing to go the extra mile
/.
Philip and Steven on floor 5 were so helpful in advising me about my AirPods and went above and beyond, such lovely gentleman thank you so much!
S. M.
Didn't do much shopping but went to the top floor restaurant, A Place to Eat. I was pleasantly surprised by the good prices and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a good range of mains including vegan dishes. I had a really great vegan hot chocolate and the vegan pecan and caramel traybake was scrummy. Apparently the coffee is very nice too. And you get a free view across Edinburgh to the Firth of Forth. I'll be back!
T. M.
It's a good department store with a decent variety of nice clothes and household goods, and good staff.
Still one of Edinburgh's best shops.
k. b.
Sale time! Still spacious, well organised, stocked with quality items, and friendly staff. Decent parking nearby also so continues to be a 10 out of 10 for me
R. K.
Fantastic customer service and very helpful and polite staff despite the incredibly high numbers of people they have to deal with!
K. C.
A very pleasant place to shop. Lovely range of ladies fashions. Particularly helpful assistant in the fabric department who helped my daughter choose some fabric
Very attractively laid out merchandise.
P. D.
During December and January their discounted returned items are available to buy and you can pick up the latest gadget for your kitchen for really cheap prices, if you register for a points card you get coupons for a free cake and coffee every month, today I chose a chocolate orange cake yum! Great views from the top floor cafe and there is below a more trendy looking hotel chocolat coffee place which is very cool take friends here to impress

Spent an enjoyable afternoon in my favourite store, saw so many items I like, must start my Christmas list now.
As always jlewis has much to offer
C.
Great place, good food the new centre is pretty cool :)
C. B.
Fantastic experience at the opticians. She correctly diagnosed a stigmatism and my new glasses are so much better than my old pair of same prescription. Everything is much clearer. Great help picking frames too. Very happy! 🤓
K. D.
Very well laid out store. The restaurant has wonderful views.
K. W.
Christmas has arrived at JL for 2020. Check out the NHS rainbow wall too. Friendly partners always on hand to help. 😀 Pictures also include the NHS Rainbow wall.
G. G.
Visited furniture department. Great selection of sofas. Pleasant and helpful staff.
L. B.
Amazing centre- really big and spacious and airy- felt great and such a variety of shops
j. s.
1st time since centre was renovated what a difference John Lewis is so clean l will go back there
A. S.
Variety items, great staff, calm atmosphere, quite expensive, clean toilet.
t. S.
Great informative talk with Sara in the beds department about mattresses, she really knows her stuff and sold us on the benefits of a top of the line model
a. j.
Big electronics selection. Home ware better bought online. Small electrical things on same floor as beauty products.
E. R.
Helpful staff, they seem to know the products and are happy to take time to explain features. Email system for when items are out of stock works well, and in store stock level appears to be accurate. I could have ordered elsewhere for quicker delivery, but I'd rather support the shop that let me see, hear and collect the actual item bought. Also, it was as cheap at JL as anywhere else, so they are competing well.
T. F. L.
Just popped in with the kiddo to check out the crochet supplies & yarns, but had a fine old time browsing around before buying.
The new Lewis"s is so much brighter, more open & modern, and the staff were friendly with no queue at the paypoint.
An enjoyable, pleasant short visit
W.
Has a very big choice from clothes to perfume and make up which should suit everyone's budget.
Staff always happy to help.
Shop has a nice relaxed feel about it.
J. C.
Buying new makeup today, all staff very helpful and friendly.
G. P.
Excellent fish and chips, also excellent Beetroot Quiche with a side salad.
A pleasant place for lunch with friendly staff
10.95 for the Fish, 6.50 for the Quiche.
Wednesday 4th March 2020.

The store is looking excellent after massive renovations and fits in well with the new St James Quarter shopping centre. It's good to have a high quality department store in town. The top floor restaurant has superb views over North Edinburgh and there is a convenient Benugo coffee shop on the main clothing floor.
A.
Cafe is amazing - unrivalled views of Edinburgh and good value. Environment is welcoming, sanitary and spacious.
M. C.
Not overly impressed with JL these days. Went for a suit, found a very limited choice with low stock. I was told there were more online, so I asked for some help in sizing, just to be led from pillar to post by someone trying to get me to try the two jackets in my approximate size in the shop on. When I asked whether the assistantcould measure me I was told that they had a tape measure but weren't very confident with it (?!) and no help was given. Gave up and tried to buy a plain shirt but the assistant couldn't tell me whether to go for slim or regular fit. What happened to the John Lewis of old, with abundant stock and experienced partners who would measure you and advise you on fit? On this evidence they're not providing much of an incentive to return to the high street - I didn't get anything I couldn't have got online. A shame.
A. S.
Excellent to see John Lewis in the revamped and renewed St James. Filled with great quality items the store is very well laid out, bright, airy and very clean. Staff were very helpful.
E. M.
Me and my partner were in your St. James Quarter store yesterday with our puppy, Reuben. We were browsing the home furniture for our new home, when approached by a John Lewis employee, Magda.
After a few minutes of chatting, we parted ways, a few minutes later Magda returned with a choice of toys to give Reuben! She then explained that this would be put through as a gift, on them. This small act of kindness really made our day, such a kind thing for her to do.
He loves his new toy. Thank you again Magda.
A. B.
Nice to visit the new cafe and a bit confusing at first but got the hang of it. The décor is very modern and a good array of hot and cold meals available. It's always busy.
P. D. L. N.
Went today to buy Opium perfume for men, however when I approached the YSL stand there were not on display. One of the very kind female staff (from the other perfume stand) helped me to find it as she mentioned that they may have the stock in the locked (out of sight) drawers. The other female YSL assistant unlocked all drawers one by one until we found the item I needed and I happily purchased it. Excellent customer service! Thank you very much for all the attention and courtesy!
E. H.
Always enjoy going into John Lewis! Staff friendly helpful.
Lovely lady serving at Channel perfume counter very helpful also electrical department knew spec of TV's.
Can't wait till Xmas best shopping experience & atmosphere in this store.
Also great sales to come 😁
A. S.
Great department store, helpful and friendly staff.
J. B.
One of the best department stores around with a wide range of goods to suit all tastes and budgets.
Excellent customer service, beautifully displayed products and knowledgeable staff.
The view from the cafe alone is worth a trip. A much loved Edinburgh institution.
J. R.
John Lewis looks amazing after it refurbishment ! So bright and airy and modern. I came across a lovely lady in the beauty society called Simar who was a beauty guide who help me navigate my way around the beauty department offering me the insight to the new brand they had in the beauty hall and showing me where all the new counters are, She also offer a lot of help and advice when it came to me choosing a new fragrance for my self and really listened to what I liked and disliked. My whole shopping experience was a positive one and make me happy and excited to come back and shop in John Lewis again.
K. K.
Max, the representative of Hermes perfumes provided an extraordinary experience. With his skilful nose, he took me away through an amazing scent-lead journey. I hope he will get some extra recognition at Hermes and JL!
F. L.
We went to shop a curtain. We're so glad there was a lady who offered us very good ideas and opinions which curtain we'd go for. We're so delighted!
The curtain fitted our living room very much! Superb!
R. “. K.
Had an amazing time at John Lewis. The refurbishment looks amazing, everything nicely spaced out and beautifully displayed. Partners were super helpful in finding products I'd looked at online. Tess from the Benefit counter did a beautiful job waxing my eyebrows too! Felt so comfortable and hardly felt anything much to my surprise! She's a gem, will definitely be back to see her as the products she recommended to me I've been loving! Will be a regular in store now that the new quarter is open.
K. G.
Ordered an engagement gift for a relative in England. Massively helpful and cheerful assistant took order and arranged for it to be delivered. Fantastic service and amazing choice of items. First port of call in future.

I went into John Lewis on Saturday evening to the Hermès counters to look at the range of perfumes. Julie, the partner who was working on the counter was so helpful. She was very knowledgeable and so friendly. It felt like I was talking more to a friend than a partner at John Lewis! I eventually bought the perfume which was slightly more expensive from John Lewis than a competitor online but Julie reminded why I shop at John Lewis and why I pay slightly extra for some things! I wish more retail assistants would follow John Lewis’ customer service style.
John Lewis in Edinburgh is absolutely gorgeous store. It has been recently refurbished and it is stunning. It has everything you need under one roof. All of the staff are so wonderful and nothing is ever too much. I wish I could 6* out of 5* for this branch of John Lewis - it’s just brilliant!
R. P.
1st time in new store for a walk about. Very impressed with lsy out. Good signage comfortable walking about. Loafs of room. Same great quality.
b. b.
Great shopping place. John Lewis is a one stop home need shopping center. Dresses to toys to electronics to kitchen needs to furniture and what not. For the quality, price is justified.
Loved the experience!
The newly opened Edinburgh Landmark, St James Square is awesome. Very spacious and lot of new stores! The view towards Lieth, from the second level is just fabulous and a must do when you visit!
J. A.
I had come in to buy a few things for my wife who has been in the hospital and happened to be helped by a very lovely lady Simar. The brand I was after was out stock. However, with the expertise of Simar, we were able to get another brand which was what my wife actually needed. My compliments to John Lewis for employing such lovely and helpful staff. Her kindness and ever so smiling face made my day.

Visited today. The service was rotten. The 1st pair I approached- one female wearing red (I thought she might be part of the Spa team) . Nope. I was directed to the Clarins desk or main till to buy a Spa voucher. Which was fine. No pleasantries and when I left them the non red wearer apologised to red for my interruption. Forgive me. A customer is not an interruption- we are the reason you get paid.
The main till was closest and only 4 or so people waiting to be served. Next stop. I asked the cashier for Spa vouchers and after speaking with other colleagues - I again left empty handed as 'nobody here knows' .
The collective They were also not sure if general JL vouchers would work in the Spa. I also asked where the Clarins desk was, but the cashier did not think there was one. I was advised to traipse away to customer service or some such up on level 4 . I did not.
Instead I found the Clarins counter - should have gone there the second I entered/ was advised..but TBH the beauty hall was pretty busy and I could not easily see where it was.
The service at this concession was much much, much better . The girls were full of hustle and gift wrapping for customers. And FINALLY! A gift card was procured and a phone number provided to make my Spa booking. The lovely lady here did advise that the bookings may not be available until March due to a back log of appointments.
Entirely my bad for thinking I should pop to the Spa to buy vouchers for the Spa....
Edinburgh John Lewis and partners. This was my second trip to the new store and I probably won't bother going forward
M. B.
We were care for very well in the restaurant when we dropped in for refreshments. The staff were attentive and the food was ok. However the same could not be said when I tried to buy a new mobile phone. It was difficult to find a salesperson and when we eventually did, there were no suitable covers to fit it. Otherwise pretty good
J. S.
A typical large John Lewis store situated in a centre with many other stores.
S. V. T.
Loving the new layout at John Lewis. I went in to pick up some new skin care and I was helped by a lovely gentleman called Ru. Ru was extremely knowledge about skin care and was able to give me some great options from a variety of different brands. Excellent customer service, I will definitely be back!
m. c.
Had a fantastic time at John Lewis today with a personal shopper called Yvonne! She went the extra mile to make our day perfect. My daughter and I went away with a bagful of beautiful clothes that made us feel confident and happy. Would highly recommend Yvonne and will certainly use this service again with her.
Z. H.
Great customer service.
My gift card had expired due to covid. I was honoured the value on my giftcard without question this was against my purchase.i purchased a fitbit 5 and the gift card reduced the amount I had to pay. The fitbit came with 3 year warranty.
Definitely a place of good customer service and lots of choice - from a department store.
M. G.
Always had a good customer experience with very helpful staff. Great variety/selection of things available. All purchases have been great quality. My only issue has been the constant movement of stuff during the building works, but I assume this will settle once the construction works are completed.
G. R.
Went in today to buy a fan with the out of the ordinary heat we've been having in Edinburgh. I'm a useless shopper but the male member of staff was very patient showing me where they were stocked and where to pay. And on the plus side it was 5 pound cheaper than it said online, so thumbs up all round. Would definitely shop here again if needing something for the home
T. I.
Shop was lovely, considering not many department stores about anymore. They had a scaletrix track which I played with until my husband became embarrassed. JL masks were too tight for my incredibly physique jawline, not worth the £10.
L. E.
Super friendly staff
E. G.
My husband and I were in the store yesterday buying a suit, we had a lovely Sales Assistant called Nafisa helping us.
While my husband was trying the suit on, we were chatting and I mentioned that my husband was buying the suit for his father's funeral . Shortly later Nafisa said she wanted to give us something from the store because of what we were going through at the moment. We left the store with a lovely free box of chocolates.
Nafisa could not have been more nicer, helpful and understanding of our situation. A huge thankyou Nafisa
A. G.
John Lewis - a shopping adventure through a magnificant and well laid out store. Its bright and magical on each floor. When you get to the top you can browse through the range of OLED tvs' and audio items finished off with a visit to the restaurant. Never fails to impress.
L. M.
Came to get my brows done, loved them. Excellent service as always in John Lewis, makes me remember why I shop in store rather than order from places that might be cheaper online, revamp looks amazing too
B. M.
New John Lewis is very impressive. A huge store but I went to look at the kitchen department, specifically electric hobs. Saw only two on display at prices over £2000+ with a two year warranty. As the assistants all had their faces stuck in front of computer screens didn't have chance to ask what the difference was between a JL hob at over £2k+ and an IKEA Hob costing less than £500 with a five year warranty. Answers on a postcard please!
B.
Huge store that sells virtually everything. Home delivery available.
J.
Lovely cafe. The chocolate cake and the pumpkin spiced lattes were excellent. The muffins were fresh too. It is a little busy however.
B. 9.
Great building cost £1 billion
M. &. D. A.
Bit of s pain getting in to JL on a cold and rainy day. The place was quiet. I fear the lack of travellers n tourists affecting business.
Well set out and spacious, the lighting was a bit subdued. Plenty of helpful staff about.
They had signs on certain brands 'up to 40/% off'
You had to take the item to the till before you knew the discount. I didn't see one person bother. If you want to sell it JL put the price on it.
Very disappointed, no Petite.
G. G.
Love JL Edinburgh, and now that the SJ Centre is open it's just wonderful. From being a geek in the AV Dept on the 5th floor to refurbishing your home and grabbing a brand new wardrobe it's all there. And the staff genuinely care. Great Shopping Experience.
B. R.
Fabulous shop with wonderful partners....always a pleasant and relaxing experience....quality guaranteed
P. O.
Really good, friendly and helpful staff make it a pleasure to shop in the new store. All needs catered for. I will be back soon.
V. C.
This is my first visit since the reopening on 14th May...the store is fabulous...I had no difficulty navigating the new layout..The store has employed staff to point the customer in the right direction. There is also another small cafe..plus A Place to Eat on top floor..I can't remember which floor new cafe is on...all in all a wonderful shopping Experience. V.Clapton
N. C.
My friend and I were buying Christmas decorations for his first Christmas tree at home in his own home. Amy who is an assistant on the shop floor was extraordinarily helpful and attentive to our many requests for items we had seen online for African themed decorations. Despite my accidental breakage of an item, she was very calm and courteous. Thank you Amy, you are a credit to John Lewis in partnership with your colleague at the till, you made our experience seamless at a frenetic Christmas shopping period. 🎄🎀🎁🎉💞
C. M.
Helpful staff but massively disappointed with the poor range of baby & nursery items available, and what was available was in quite a mess. Purposely came to John Lewis as we thought we would be able to see a few models of items in person and decide what we wanted but left no better informed and have had to go elsewhere.
r. m.
Great to back in JL. Staff lovely and helpful, especially Dom in tv sales. My only criticism is that there are several cushions distributes amongst the seating in the coffee place on 3rd floor. Not sure , as nice as they are, they should be there during an easing of lockdown? Folk are touching them, sitting on them etc.
E. W.
Light and airy in the store. Much more choice than other JL stores! Wide variety of womenswear and great concessions!
J. J.
They allow well-behaved dogs in the store, which is absolutely fantastic! We had such a wonderful time visiting the store with our dogs. The store has great variety and is filled with helpful staff. Beauty, home decor, tech, clothing- almost everything you need. Highly recommend.
S. n.
Big department store with mid the high end goods. Electrical, homewares, clothing and more. Can be quite busy but you can gain access from the store front on Leith Walk or from inside the Staint James Quarter. Staff are friendly and the whole store has had a recent refurbishment.
R. R.
Excellent department store with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Well laid out and not too crowded with displays. The cafe on level 5 has superb views over the North of Edinburgh and onto the Forth of Forth and Fife beyond. Can be expensive but the quality of goods is generally very high.
B. B.
Great shop for guys clothes. Its a great shop not many staff around to help. Iv not been in for awhile omg its not any better staff wise.
N. B.
If you don't know JL and want to get to the mall, go to anywhere in the store and try to find signage which both exists in quantity and is clear. You won't. JL is the same as it's ever been but its signage to the mall is utterly shocking from within the store.
Update 11th November 2021. Went for a browse inside. Signage unchanged, so very poor. Good kitchen selection and well staffed in all areas that I could see
R. H.
Popped into the new updated store in Edinburgh today and went up to the TV department, and Cath at the desk took me downstairs to gift a yellow woboba ball for my schnauzer dog today, what a lovely gesture from John Lewis PLC and this surprise policy. Wow. Speechless with their kindness.
D. M.
Can't fault the staff in the Edinburgh store looking at oven and grill combinations Garry in the dept was very knowledgeable and patient in explaining our options, will go back again in future
J. M.
Great store, it’s a shame you use DPD as a delivery partner as I think they have got something wrong every time I have used them and this will put me off using Johnlewis.com in the future.
E. B.
Very good customer service also serving gluten free food.
I. H.
Despite the ongoing construction work and limited space - this is still a great shopping experience with a good selection of products. Staff are always pleasant, helpful, and make an effort to go that extra mile.
Has a really good cafe with wonderful views of Scotland's Capital. Again, the staff are always really helpful here and have been on hand to assist me when they see that I'm a lone-parent and struggling to juggle a dinner-tray and a toddler. Tip-top!
H. B.
Wide range of good quality stock, great for gifts and household items, if a little expensive. Customer service is variable - although I have found staff very friendly and helpful today in the blinds department, service was poor. I was not offered assistance and when I approached staff with questions, I had limited response. I thus decided not to make a purchase. I will continue to use the store however, as generally my experience has been positive and I trust the quality of John Lewis products.
P. G.
Shopping experience is still good in spite of Covid. There were helpers at the top of each escalator providing directions to the department you were looking for. 8 steps gap between shoppers on escalators gave confidence. Very happy customer.
G. G.
Service is always good but I felt babied and patronised today.
On walking in to the shop there were 2 hand sanitisers and I was walking towards the one furthest away from the staff member - it was pretty obvious I was walking towards it but she stopped me and directed me to the other one. The 'new' shopping experience is horrible enough without constantly feeling like I'm getting a row for not complying with rules when I am.
K. E.
Great shop and with the regeneration that has gone on in the shop it gives it a new lease of life and makes it very modern. Great selection of products in store, And with the best customer service in any home retail store available in the UK. Fantastic work!
G. L.
Very classy store, well stocked with lovely things to buy. Lovely cuppa and scone in the 5th floor cafe
A. S.
Τhe Edinburgh John Lewis shop has been revamped and feels fresh and pleasant. Staff helpful, as always. Definitely a first class shipping experience.
N. A.
Beautiful shop with amazing views of the bay from the 4th floor.
S. C.
If you're stuck for gift ideas there's plenty of choice here.
J. R.
I love John Lewis. You get quality and customer service that is second to none. If I want a purchase I always check here first. They guarantee to beat prices on the high street, not only good for this, electrical items have at least two years warranty and sometimes even more.
I must admit I have had a problem with two items that were faulty however after contacting them by phone I received replacements the next day. I bet you that will not happen In most cases. As for prices I got a television delivered via website and it was cheaper here to other places by almost half their price.
They have a members card, free to get and you get a drink and cake normally every month. You also get invitations to members only events where there is drinks, etc. Includes member exclusives. The other main advantage is if you are anything like me you put receipts in "safe" places and forget where that safe place is, well log onto your card account and they are all saved there.
I can not recommend them more strongly
J. S.
Great to visit JLP in Edinburgh, partners were really helpful and we found what we were looking for. Only downside was we had to look for a partner to help us on mens shoes as no one was on that dept. Really great selection of brands too in store.
B.
Great experience with Tess at benefit John Lewis getting my eyebrows done. Was wary of being waxed after a past experience but she explained fully what she was doing and took her time, also lovely to chat to.
D. R.
Stuart on the Sisley counter was extremely informative this Saturday 14th. He was able to provide brilliant advice for my wife and made purchasing a product a completely pleasant experience for her. Well done my friend.
H. C.
What an amazing selection. I am interested in buying a sewing machine and the details given about each machine was helpful. I will be back to make my purchase.

I went there today to buy a new laptop. After 3 sleepless nights googling and looking for a good quality laptop, I went there this morning to buy one that I thought was perfect for me. When I arrived there a staff member asked me if I needed help. We had a quick chat of what I wanted to buy and for what use. straight away he recommend me one better laptop on offer with better specs and price. That is a great example why we should have second thoughts about shopping online!!! Shops like John Lewis with their great staff should be our first choice!!! Great job John Lewis. Thanks!!!!

Had an appointment with my Mother with personal style consultant Mary. What a star that woman is, she really knows her stuff. And the service is free! Unbelievable! We really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. Mary, if you are reading this, the list things that we didn't get got circulated round the family as suggested gifts. Thanks very much.

In resteraunt great to see table service
Vast improvement to queuing and cold food by time we pay and get to table. Hope thus is permanent feature?
Table 7 lovely waitress from China so helpful and happy. Thanks Jai

I love a visit to John Lewis, one of my favourite department stores, always something different to see. Having enjoyed and bought a number of various items; electricals, clothing, gifts etc. over the years. Their shop and delivery service excellent. The top floor stylish cafe with great views, for after, or before the shopping.
P. C.
I ordered a microwave just before 5pm yesterday and it arrived around 2.30pm this afternoon, even though at checkout it was given an estimate of 7 to 10 days for delivery. Stupendous service - certainly couldn't ask for anything better.
T. S.
Love Lewis's shopped for many years and always had good service good quality products and enjoyed food but for the 2nd year running I can't buy clothes it seems, if your are 18 or over they can't accommodate you they no longer do bigger sizes. Also the food has taken a tumble to cheap cafe style with expensive prices . This is so sad for such a good store.
D. S.
The Edinburgh store looks good after the refurbishment but definitely teething problems with stock. I was searching for a plain tshirt in a size 10 and everything I picked up was either a size 8, 16 or 18!
M. M.
A fantastic place to shop, staff are super friendly
A. P.
I like John Lewis and usually find it handy if I need to purchase a few different items. However, on this occasion the items that I wanted to check out were not available in store. Not a big issue as I can easily order online but it would have been nice to see/try out in person first. I'll most likely still order and return the item if need be as John Lewis are very good when it comes to customer service. Store was organised and tidy.
L. B.
Very busy, staff not easy to find and tills being shut down 30 minutes before closing despite being Black Friday weekend. Still had a decent range of products on display but many out of stock (and not available to order) with no signs to indicate this. Had to queue at busy tills only to be told we couldn't order.
F. R.
Revisited after covid distancing, etc, I hoped to find the store more updated and well stocked. Not really. A bit disappointing.
G. K.
Was actually a fantastic experience. I got what I was looking for. Maybe not the cheapest, but all in all.. was actually a really good experience. I also browsed some tech I have been looking into for a while with great confidence and Got the decision I needed. I walked out feeling, that was a really pleasent experience. Lots of helpful faces. Has to be one of my favourite shops, even if I only walk into non grocery or coffee shops once or twice a year (other than airports).
J. L.
John Lewis the store is excellent but currently being let down by a very mediocre cafe. In December I had a green Thai curry dish which was pretty tasteless and accompanied with dried out rice. Today the parsnip soup was incredibly thin and watery and the sticky ginger cake was sweet and sticky but lacked a flavour of ginger. All overpriced and disappointing quality. The views from the cafe are stunning but don't warrant a visit unless maybe you find a window table and just have a cuppa.
D. M.
While trying to order a TV, there was a problem with the computer and delivery service. Lisa promised to get in touch when it was sorted. and she did at 6pm in the evening. Could not have been more pleasant or helpful. And while in the store at lunchtime, I enjoyed the best fish and chips I've tasted in a long while. Ten out of 10 John Lewis!
W. A.
lovely shopping experience. staff is very helpful and always ready to go an extra mile for there customers since the recent upgrade the store became more up market. Must vist for new experience with new stock showcased beautifully.
A. H.
Store size is reduced for building work on the adjacent building, but my mission was successful nonetheless. Super friendly and helpful staff. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction.
D. B.
A feeling that all is well with the world comes over me as soon as I step across the threshold at John Lewis. All right, and slightly repressed. it's well laid out with plenty of room for us shoppers - no crowding in as many display stands as possible at John Lewis. But somehow it lacks excitement.
It's not the WH Smith of the stationery world - there are good greeting cards and booklets and pens - but just not anything that pumps up the heart rate.
Same with the luggage selection and the briefcases and shoulder bags - some very good quality bags - but just a bit staid.
Ah, the camera and laptop section is better than that. And when you want to buy something that might go wrong in a year or two - the John Lewis extended guarantee is enough to tip you into a purchase (actually, it was enough to tip me into a purchase).
The cafe on the top floor - The Place to Eat - has a lovely view onto the Firth of Forth - a lovely view but lunatic windows that slope away so that you can't get within twenty feet of them to really look out over the Forth.
The food is a constant disappointment. Could they not be a bit more adventurous?
Overall, a pleasure - a slightly muted pleasure, but a pleasure.
C. M.
Excellent, staff wonderful and we always take our dog and they always comment on how lovely he is Edinburgh
j. h.
Shop is great good selection of clothes beauty great shop but cafe let down hot drinks warm and no napkins glad I had tissues in my bag
D. M.
Great choice and range!
Amazing layout, fixtures departments and so, so many staff, all standing about or chatting... certainly not helping anyone, or smiling, or saying hello.
How it makes any money, I have no idea!
Oh, wait... yup. It's because the prices are so vastly expensive. Really, really expensive. Eye wateringly expensive.
Good fun to browse, but I'd buy elsewhere.
A. C.
Yesterday, I was looking for something unusual in your store and two ladies in the department were so helpful in putting together another option. I was very pleased.
John Lewis is a lovely store, and the staff make it special. Thank you, ladies.
M. L.
Simply the best department store in Scotland. A wide range of quality products including many of the best known names. The most competitive prices and the never knowingly under sold promise coupled with excellent service makes it the first and often only stop when making major purchases. Currently a little more difficult to access due to council redevelopment in the area but worth the effort.
W. C.
I was in John Lewis , Leith Street today to buy a Parker Pen and met Julie and asked her to assist in showing what was available .
She did this and and I asked about signing up on-line . She went to great lengths to help me do so , which I am very happy to say was
a great success . As I was with my wife we were given a voucher for complemetary coffee for two . This made for a very welcome and pleasant shopping experience and we.would appreciate this being passed on to Julie as she went the extra mile in assisting in making the above possible .
Many thanks , we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and our coffee with a lovely piece of apple pie .
We will certainly be back and very soon .
Bill & Jean Coleman .
R. B.
Shopping experience was really nice, restaurant was fairly quiet, and staff were really helpful. Prices seemed to have taken a jump however that may be pre-lockdown nostalgia.
E. Y.
A great place to buy electronics and Christmas gifts & decorations. John Lewis is always an ideal option for the middle class. Fashion brands are not tailored for students though. It’s more aimed at the middle aged group.
M. D.
Good selection of items, the UK version of a pricier Target. I had a frustrating experience with their exchange policy. I purchased an item that became defective. I called tech support, waited on hold for about 20 minutes, and was told I would need to come in and exchange it. I did not have my receipt, but was told the credit card I used to buy it and the approximate date of purchase would be sufficient. So I made the trip and was informed that not only was the item not in stock, but that I would need to get a print out of my credit card statement for proof of purchase. A very frustrating wasted hour.
K. H.
Love the new store.
Fantastic product lines.
The highlight was visit to The Place To Eat. Thanks a million to Amy in the restaurant for really warm and effective service.
S. T.
Great adapting to new covid19 measures with distancing, plenty of hand sanitiser everywhere and really friendly, helpful staff. We felt so much less anxiety being there than many of the other places we've been shopping as measures were being adhered to properly.
A. J.
The new look store is beautiful. Well laid out, soacious and airy. Displays are excellent, and they're doing very well with social distancing. Pleasure to shop there.
H. W.
The size of this store, coupled with the fact that it is built on a hill, means that is easy to become slightly disorientated and end up on the wrong level, but this simply means you can see more of what is on offer. Despite this disorientation, however, I feel very much at home here - in fact, almost everything you could wish for in a department store can be found here, and the prices are immensely competitive without having to drape themselves in advertising that is cheap and tawdry, which is refreshing. The views from the cafe are exceptional and it is worth a visit in its own right, especially if you like cake - the portions are distinctly satisfying. The John Lewis quality brand seems to be safe in the hands of this Edinburgh establishment.
A. H.
It's John Lewis, what more can I say really?
It's a British Institution, a staple of the midscale, and (sometimes) upmarket British Shopping market.
This John Lewis is no less - its located in a premises built specially for it and gives off modern vibes whilst still maintaining that classic John Lewis 80s upmarket British department store feel, with complementary brass fixtures throughout.
This particular John Lewis does have a brilliantly stocked technology department though, rivalling that of some of the bigger stores, nothing like the flagship in London but nonetheless a great, well curated selection of technology adorns the top floor of the store.
Also contained within is a traditional department store eatery, a wide range of suitable restrooms, and a plethora of welcoming and helpful staff. And for those who don't really understand department stores there is also a click and collect centre.
The only thing missing that I would really appreciate is a John Lewis FoodHall, AKA a Waitrose; add in a foodhall and this would be John Lewis heaven.
Well, that and the decorations. John Lewis literally IS Christmas here in the UK, but the store itself didn't feel Christmassy enough, and I may be wrong but the Christmas shop at this specific store was a lot smaller than I'm used to as an export from London.
Otherwise, John Lewis, keep doing you.
J. H.
It was fine - a relatively small JL&P. Decent Benugo coffee shop with good food and drink choices.
S. R.
This wasn't the easiest store to navigate around and in comparison to other stores it didn't seem to have much. I left unable to find what I needed and went elsewhere. The store was also extremely hot so I felt like I needed to get back outside into the fresh air. The shelves were well stocked and the shop was clean. There were plenty of staff at the tills but I couldn't find any free members of staff to ask for help.
T. P.
Staff were very friendly and helpful particularly one very pleasant young woman in the mens shoe section. She kindly sent an email with product details, so that I could order the shoes online. The JL brand is one you can rely on, it must be my favourite store!
K. W.
A great view of the city from the top floor restaurant! In Edinburgh on vacation. Lovely, helpful staff help me find my way around. We chatted about on going building works outside the store and various offers inside the store!
G. M.
Would like to praise Alana at Dyson counter I was looking at the hairdryers to buy for my neice she advised me on all the products she took my order as you had to wait a few weeks gave me her number and she phoned me twice with an update. On the 1st July I received a text from Alana to say my order had arrived when I phoned the store they told me she was on holiday what a service she goes above and beyond with her customer service. I then received my order on the 2nd excellent service
A. S.
Improved a lot with all the construction works for the new shopping centre. The newly created 5th floor is lovely with the new and improved cafe. Limited tables and chairs but a member of staff said they will be expanding it soon. Customer service is great as always and you even get free 20 minutes parking in the Q car park across the road when picking up online orders.
J. B.
Still good shop and managed to get toys we wanted despite lack of stock. All power to your elbows and I hope that once shop is reopened properly in Edinburgh that you recover from this horrendous period . As they say in New Zealand , "Kia Kaha" Best regards. John and Maureen Blake
L. L.
Best department store anywhere. The staff of John Lewis are about a thousand times more helpful than in any other chain. I've been fitted for lingerie here, and the partner who served me was so knowledgeable and diligent - she came backwards and forwards with about 30 different items for me to try on. Likewise, shoe fitting is excellent if you are in with children. They have a very good, reasonably priced, range of own brand clothes, which is important when you have ever-growing children. Keep an eye out for special deals, they often do competitor price matches, and you can always pick up bargains in the sale. Their range of delivery options is helpful - you can collect from behind the shop. They'll also look up on the catalogue for you and order it if they don't have it in stock.
S. T.
Love John Lewis, such a huge selection of everything you could possibly want. One of the last remaining department stores in Edinburgh sadly. Love the new renovated store
C. W.
Excellent service and great choice of items, despite the ongoing building work. The staff-partners have managed to keep positive and calm despite it all. I go out of my way to shop at John Lewis to support them. Unsung local heroes.
C. T.
Fantastic selection of products and good quality. Phenomenal service provided to me on 29-JAN-2019 when the member of staff beautifully wrapped wy wifes birthday present - the lady went above the level of service normally provided and for this I am very grateful. In the perfume section ( I purchased Calvin Klein ' The Only One ' - Thanks again !!
P. M.
Since Jenner's has ceased trading I'm so glad John Lewis has a great mens department the shop as a whole is fantastic wouldn't shop anywhere else x
A. D.
Great place for something to eat.
Well spaced and ventilated tables kept clean. Can be quite busy but plenty of seating.
M. S.
Visited John Lewis to buy a new television. Received good advice from a friendly member of staff which led to me buying exactly the correct model of TV that I required. It was delivered by the end of the week at a time that suited me and set up by two efficient John Lewis staff. I am very happy with my new TV.
C. G.
I was not sure whether to give a three or a four. The items on display were not for sale which was very frustrating. I have used John Lewis on numerous occasions and my kitchen bedroom and living room are full of equipment bought there therefore my great disappointment.
B. M. M.
Great store ....excellent staff ....bought a washing machine got £150 trade in plus 11year guarantee sales assistant was really helpful and so nice to talk to the cheapest for Samsung graphite quick drive 10kg 1600 spin ....£899: 99 taking off trade in ordered Monday free delivery direct from Samsung Saturday so one happy customer . ..have always loved John Lewis been a customer for many years and will be for many more to come
S. F.
Always enjoy a visit here and free coffee and cake (with a voucher) makes it even better. The shop floor is a little smaller at the moment due to the works at the St James Centre, but still good clothing, electrical and other departments, with knowledgeable staff.
C. B.
I was wandering around looking for black trousers for work. One of the assistants Laura offered to help me, sensing my despair! She was great and helped me locate the right trousers with the right fit. Very friendly and kind and listened carefully to my requirements.
S. S.
Excellent experience, the store in Edinburgh is affected by the St James Centre demolition and replacement but it's still very easy to get to the store and find everything.
Staff are spot on and items well priced considering the quality of product and service you receive.
K.
Very impressed with their Covid precautions. Disinfected mat on entry, hand sanitiser everywhere, reminders to socially distance etc. Lots of staff to guide one round new set-up. Professional as ever!
It may not aways be the cheapest but the service is second to none and I feel very safe shopping there during these Covid days. Congratulations! I really hope you survive these difficult economic times.
P. B.
One of the better john Lewis's by far well laid out plenty of space not too crowded Tuesday perfect time to visit
S. M.
Tend to go here alot for buying gifts and items where you want good quality and an extended warranty.
The cafe in this John Lewis is also very good. If you are a card holder you will sometimes get vouchers for free cake and a hot drink.
D. C.
John Lewis has really become my first stop for the majority of my purchases these days. They have a great selection of items all of them from a leading brand in that field and have excellent staff who are always ready to help.
If you do visit I highly recommend visiting their cafe which has a good selections of light bites and hot meals but an absolutely great selection of sweet treats!
p. h.
Becouse of the building works going on next to store the curtain section was not great when I asked for the sizes I wanted there was none in stock also the lady who served me was telling they don't have as much stock due to the building going on next to store poor excuse. I ended up with getting curtains that were far to wide. I do find a sense of snobbery in Edinburgh shops compared to Glasgow it's about the money not the way a person looks
A. L.
Lovely store, very expensive !
J. G.
their motto is "never knowingly undersold" - but they specialise in having exclusive stock, so this doesn't mean they're cheap. however sometimes you really get a bargain here.
the new cafe on the top floor has the most amazing views, and the food is good.
J. C.
John Lewis in St James centre is a handy town centre shop that sells good quality products and offers a very robust returns policy.
Their price match feature 'Never Knowingly Undersold' means they are good value for many products.
The culture of John Lewis has long been about quality of service for their customers and doing the best they can for their staff. This has always made it an attractive brand to me when shopping for quality items or brand products whether that be clothes, furniture, gifts or electronics.
The staff are always as helpful as possible, they have a great selection in each department and they are a trusted brand.
Occupying most of St James centre you can't miss it and as the shopping centre is at east end of Princess Street it's handy to pop in when you are shopping in town.
Its also really useful for gift ideas and if you go with your partner there is plenty of interest for each of you.
P. H.
Staff, very attentive and helpful. Not the place for a bargain but great for Christmas presents when you spend a little extra.
S. C.
Had to go pram shopping today, which is a minefeild. Came into John Lewis and met Heather. She was great, talked us through everything, didn't try and sell us the most expensive or persuade us to buy loads. Gave us good honest advise and got exactly what we needed. She was great from start to finish and we both left with big smiles on our faces.
Thanks a lot heather!
R. D.
Louise on floor one was wonderful, great help with the weighted blankets - she knew 10% weight is the best and even though it wasn't in stock she signed me up for email alerts so I can buy it! Fabulous!
V. L.
I've had a great shopping experience! Bought some presents for Christmas, lovely chocolate, good atmosphere, customer service was wonderful! really enjoyed and I've had a great time there. Staff was very helpful, welcoming and professional.
E. B.
Brilliant shopping experiene(s) of late, my new HP pavillion 360 laptop, and glass caffetierre have been spot on, brilliant quality, and came with product guarentee. It was also very rewarding and beneficial to have recieved a product pairing discount with Microsoft Office alongside the laptop. Love the online shopping interface as a whole. #sellingwithintegrity
S. F.
Top marks to Vivienne in the home tech department who went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us with a problematic gift voucher on Saturday. Potential embarrassment turned into successful purchase thanks to her tenacity and top class customer service ethic. We will be back.
J. W.
Really impressive customer service, super friendly and helpful staff and managers.
Heather in the baby dept. gave an excellent product demonstration on a baby carrier.
This is why we need John Lewis on the High Street!
F. M.
Delicious breakfast in the Place to Eat restaurant. Great store. Big! I miss John Lewis in Aberdeen.
.
S. S.
I don't use the plastic shiny ribbons on presents, I like using material ribbons. So I went to John Lewis haberdashery but there was no red velvet ribbons on the shelf. The assistant went to the back and came out with an assortment of red velvet ribbons. I was delighted
m. s.
We come here often as it's so handy! If we need a birthday present this is the place to go. Over many floors you are bound to find something from homeward to clothes to electronics.
Staff are always helpful and the range of products is wide.
E. H.
The lady that served me was very helpful and ordered an item on line for me to be delivered very happy with the service
L. •.
Found a great sofa, and thanks to the help and advice of an awesome staff member, we were actually able to order it and get it in time! Most of the stuff here seems to be pretty nice...
b.
Just had Stevie and Alex visit and they expertly fitted my integrated fridge. The guys were great, professional, clean and tidy. Highly recommended. John Lewis you have 2 great guys on your team.
G. F.
A little confusing at the moment to navigate around the store if you need to use the lifts. This is due to construction work taking place next to the store, building a larger John Lewis store and shopping/leasure district. Staff and product quality still outstanding
H. M.
Had a very successful shopping trip ! Linzi was very very helpful and so kind to me. Staff are really cheery amd up to help, no matter what 🤗
P. M.
Best John Lewis experience you can get.
The store is huge with lots of choice.
C. S.
Excellent shop, Was kindly greeted and served by a young man named Taab, excellent service, I was surprised to discover he was a new member of the team.
H. F.
I love John Lewis Edinburgh. The staff are all super helpful and friendly, everything is signposted well and you can always find the things you need (and a few you don't). Excellent free phone charging station too :)
S. B.
This afternoon I had an Earl Gray tea and a scone which was excellent but the teaspoons were disgusting!
I said to a member of staff (in a suit ) that the teaspoons were filthy and he said he would have them replaced. I checked on my way out after 20/30 minutes and they had not been replaced!
I expect a far better standard of cleanliness from John Lewis.
C. S.
I live in Belfast but I am originally from Edinburgh. Stuff the festival!! when I come back to see my folks in the summer - John lewis is the only thing I come into Edinburgh for!! I bought lovely wool, 3 pairs of winter tights, a present for my friend's baby, some bras for my fussy daughter and would have bought more lovely things if I had had more room in my case. cafe was v nice though seems a bit smaller than I remembered from my last visit and has probably the best views of any restaurant in Edinburgh. didn't go in the parents room as no kids with me so don't know if it is still the best parent and baby room I have ever been in. fond memories of sitting breastfeeding with a fabulous views of all Edinburgh before you.
R. G. C.
This afternoon, whilst I received exemplary customer orientated service in the carpet department of the John Lewis store in Edinburgh, the same cannot be said of the curtain department. As a result the carpet department representative's actions I had planned on investing in a significant order to re-carpet my home. A swatch order was initiated.
Subsequently, I came away extremely displeased with the outwardly disinterested attitude of a member of staff in the store's curtain department. The lady uncaringly sat at her position doing nothing, instructing me to find information which I hadn't been able to readily locate. I pointed out to her that in view of the fact that she was doing nothing I would, as a potential customer, appreciate a degree of customer service. It was left to me to go and retrieve some displayed material in order to initiate a swatch order process.
I respectfully suggest that the lady from whom I'd requested a curtain swatch pays a visit to the carpet section across the floor to learn how to provide much appreciated and valued customer service.
E. P.
Good spaciouse clean enjoy shopping 🛍 and will stop and have a spot of lunch in their upstairs cafe
J. W.
Special 'thank you' for a lovely lady in Bureau de Change who greeted me with a big smile and matched competitor's rate for polish zloty this morning. Your service was excellent, thank you so much!
S. B.
I was pleased to see all the staff had masks and lots of hand sanitizer everywhere you looked as well as staff kept their distance and enforced on customer as per requirement! Great shopping experience!
A. K.
Ordered online, picked up on Christmas Eve. Staff were brilliant, routine in place for collection was amazing. Worth doing if you can't be bothered with walking round the store, fast efficient and no hassle at all.
M. S.
It was very busy. Good quality product. Sales in place. Good customer services. The lady that served me went beyond to find what i needed and make sure i was happy with everything. Very happy.
H. W.
Safety, cleanliness and staff interaction was first class. Expect nothing less from a store of this quality plus my shopping experience was perfect as per usual.
A. W.
Fantastic shop, lots of merchandise on all floors. Lovely lunch on level 3 cafe, helpful staff. Enjoyable shopping .
Q. _.
Would normally give John Lewis 5 stars but the on going building works are quite disruptive. For this I'd actually only give it 3 stars as it appears to have significantly limited the items in store, and has affected the layout so things are difficult to find, but that said, they still have the same competitive prices and helpful staff so that's enough to bring it back to 4 stars.
D. A. W.
Cafe/restaurant set up needs re addressing. Service at Hot Drinks counter terrible. Only 1 member of staff. Plenty other staff around but non willing to assist. No doubt they all had their own duties to carry out.
S. K.
My most favourite place for shopping place is John Lewis, all the staff are up to the mark and helpful , and if they see you looking around they come to you and ask if they can help us. All the products of John Lewis are genuine and good in price as well, people think it's John Lewis therefore all the things will be too expensive ! Whereas they give you more than what you want. I'll end up with I don't know about others but I completely satisfied and happy with this store 😀😃😄💯 under one roof you get what you want !
T. M.
Dear Mr David Sodergren,
Thank you very much for the extra help you gave my wife and I during our nursery advice session at John Lewis in Edinburgh on Wednesday 11th September 2019. We experienced how busy the department is, so really appreciated the time you spent with us educating us on the products for our first child. It was a daunting process understanding all the elements related to buggies, car seats and cots, you were so well informed we were completely reassured. Additionally, your gift list set up has and will be extremely helpful. Thank you very very much. Dave and Vicky
A. N.
John Lewis has been a staple of Princes Street for so long. Despite the demolition of St James centre it has revamped and remained a worthwhile shopping destination. Don't go in looking for clothes because this is primarily for the home, such as appliances or carpets, but it does have a great alternative to the apple shop along with loads of others gadgets. You'll also find toys for kids but not a lot.
A. B.
This is without doubt the top departmental store in the Uj.
The restaurant has been moved to the top floor and has been refurbished as a result there is a panoramic view of North Edinburgh as one enjoyed the good food provided here. I totally recommend a visit and you Will not be disappointed
J. W.
Not been done to John Lewis this year
so it was nice to see Multrees Walk and the new St James Centre.
A. W.
Superb experience, great customer care, from the front of desk, very comfi room, good hotel, highly recommended.
I. G.
Like how JL has evolved into a great destination retailer from fashion to electronics to a nice coffee..... However get a bit dismayed how the Menswear dpt has a good range of brands but a lot of the time looks a complete mess standards really poor? Why?
M.
Great Store and Friendly Partners!
To the guy who gave the store a two star review because it was too expensive - what a stupid review! You didn't even buy anything anyway! How you want to spend money is called the power of choice. Go to poundland if you want cheap curtain rails!!
I. S.
Good range of clothes, although some are quite expensive. A good shop for buying presents. I would probably come here when I need to buy a TV or other electrical items. The staff are helpful and friendly.
M. H.
Can't recommend the staff here enough. Nothing is too much trouble.
Maybe "department stores" are going out of fashion but it's great that they stock a wide range of stuff that you can see and check over before you buy.
Click and collect service also excellent.
Y. S.
Went to buy a replacement filter for a Perfect Prep in store.....they don't sell them! You can only get them online!!!! Why sell a product(which is not cheap) and not extras that you will definitely need in 3 months time.
B. C.
Excellent service from Finlay in the Edinburgh shop this weekend. He helped me select my cabin luggage in the most affable and professional manner. Thank you! Bob Christie
A. W.
Excellent. The new layout is brilliant and spacious, as always the assistants are extremely helpful. The signage is great explaining the new layout.
J. T.
Very helpfull staff and quick service. They had everything in stock what I was looking for. Pay upstairs and collect on the ground floor. Not bad just a bit difficult to find the right department. (First time visit)
J.
A hidden secret still standing in the building site. Excellent service from staff that have persevered during the redevelopment of the site. Coffee shop has excellent views over the forth and great food! Well worth a visit
H. &. R. M.
I was in your Edinburgh Store on Sunday 1st October I would like to mention the staff in your ladies department who were all extremely helpful, polite, and in particular Andrea who was very helpful. It was a pleasant experience shopping in your store and many thanks to your staff.
H. A.
Staff are all wonderful nothing is too much bother
Food very tasty too I had soup .
Tea ..Nice cup off tea and a scone.
K. Z.
Love this store, all you need is pretty much there, high level service and polite professionals make your best experience. Highly recommended for premium shopping!
a. s.
The staff at the Edinburgh John Lewis were absorlutely brilliant especially on the bedding department. Every department we stopped to admire something a member of staff came along side and just asked if they could help or assist in any way. Just brilliant.

Visited for some Xmas shoppjng and lunch. Tip for lunch - if only looking fir coffee and cake leave till after busy lunch period. I used to enjoy a sandwich and cuppa but since they reorgsnised the cafe and nade it bigger the range of sandwichez is very poor. On 2 occasions i asked for particular sandwich but with butter and waz refused and told not making more sandwiches! Suffice to say left my cuppa and cake and walked out. Complaint to "senoir" staff member in cafe failed to produce response. Emailed John Lewis, still waiting. Shopping lot better and staff always happy yo help and go look fir items if not on display. Be long time b4 i eat in cafe even tho' i have loyalty card.

I recently bought a Lavazza fantasia plus coffee machine from John Lewis. The Lavazza rep could not have been more helpful and informative. He spent time with me both before and following my purchase giving me advice on how to get the best from my machine. Thank you
H. M.
John Lewis is John Lewis - huge array of stuff to fill your house with and oft impeccable customer service with a good return policy. The cafe on the top floor offers incredible views and is spacious enough for groups and pushchairs but sells what is likely to be the worst coffee in Edinburgh.

A fine store, especially after the extension into the new St James Quarter, well laid out and staff as helpful as ever. Always a joy to visit.

The 'never knowingly undersold' mantra ensures good prices.
Own brand items may not be the cheapest but are real value.
Staff are partners which makes for a long serving knowledgeable workforce.
Shop stocks a good wide range of products in each department.
Waitrose is the supernarket wing of the company.

simon in tech helped me find new headphones and was really knowledgeable and friendly. he also made sure I got the best pair for me at the best price.

Despite the brutal architecture exterior the John Lewis department store has interior of well displayed quality goods.
The expanse of goods is wide.
I cannot think of a store that ranges from balls of knitting wool to mobile phone or Lego or coffee maker, John Lewis does.
The quality of goods are high.
All compared prices are good and guarantees are longer than most.
The staff service is of high quality.
The lines of clothes are wide and good, but you must realise this is not a cut price company.
What you receive are mid to high prices.
The price matches what you receive.
If you want to find cheaper price in perfume, etc you will have to switch to website shops for that. John Lewis will have similar price at Debenhams, etc.
This includes to kitchenware and other such stock.
Reductions are good in sales.
I bought practical novelties such as a tortoise shaped cheese grater for a pound.
I could have bought it elsewhere for £8 or so, that includes website stores.
In everyday luxury goods I bought a tv which was same price at cut price shop. This was not in sales period.
Other good facilities at the top of the building is its cafe/restaurant you get a good view, but you have to remember where you are in Edinburgh.
Personally I enjoy better eating at the cafe next to bottom of shop.
The cafe is placed with Edinburgh Cathedral.
If you do not want to plough through several stores.
I would recommend shop at John Lewis.

Love John Lewis, customer service is second to none and prices always matching or beating the competition. And the included additional warranty on tech is brilliant. Check them out online and instore!
R. I.
Came to the store to buy a camera they had online but was told it was online only and they didn't have it in stock. Was a little disappointed because their warranty is very good and would have liked to buy it from there. Instead I had to go to another store.
I. B.
Staff awesome
Firstly item we wanted was not on shelves and almost before asking, staff member had gone to find it.
Then whilst in a short queue staff member escorted us quickly to a location with no queue.
D.
Fantastic selection of goods with attentive and friendly staff.

Excellent modern branch of the UK's finest department store, set over five floors in a new shopping mall in the centre of Edinburgh
R. M.
Along with Jenner's, this is the best department store in Edinburgh. I've always been impressed by the quality of the goods on offer, from homeware to furniture, through to electronics. Whilst not the cheapest, I've always been of the opinion that you get what you pay for. In the case of John Lewis that means well built, solid goods often with lengthy guarantee periods and generally excellent customer service. I'd particularly recommend it for buying TV's where they probably have the best range in Edinburgh and also offer a price match and 5 year guarantees. There's plenty of choice and a nice cafe upstairs if you're feeling all shopped out. It's also a great place for visitors to the city looking for gift ideas. Recommended.

Margaret was very professional and a great help today returning my rug to the Edinburgh store. Great service .
G. P.
Excellent store with excellent staff more than willing to help you. Lots of choices of clothes, household items and electrics. Good competitive prices. Recommended

Smart, well organized department store.
Nice cafeteria style cafe on the top floor with pretty views of the city. Great place to relax and take a break from shopping.

What can I say, I love John Lewis. It's my go-to department store. Wish I had the money to shop in it all of the time! The cafe is spacious, nice coffee and good cake.

I had an amazing facial by Angela at the Origins counter in Edinburgh. She was really friendly, gave me good advice and made my skin glow. I felt so relaxed afterwards. Thanks Angela
F. M.
Nice, good experience. Until I got to pay! Horribly and immorally expensive.
G. B.
The service is great and the staff are really helpful. They have everything from knitting supplies, electricals, garden furniture to clothing. A bit pricy sometimes but lovely good quality products.
J. B.
Absolutely fabulous. Partners were friendly and professional. Nothing too much trouble. Tempting to fly up from Gatwick just to shop at the Edinburgh store.

I often forget about good old John Lewis, being tucked away inside the (soon to be destroyed) St James Centre. It has the sorts of stuff it can be hard to find elsewhere in the city centre - the exact light bulb, size of sewing needle etc etc. Never been much of a fan of the clothes, but its worth checking out the more expensive ranges in the sales. Great range of xmas gifts at the moment and always has beautfiul stationery. There's a good cafe on the 4th floor - main meal prices around the £8 mark and its self servcie. Always loads of people with babies in prams there - one of the most accessible places for buggies? Also an amazing view from the cafe.

The John Lewis cafeteria was a haven amidst the icelandic air conditioned construsction site that is currently this department store. Half-frozen shoppers were warming their hands and bellies with fine quality tea in this restaurant overlooking the city. Tea cakes and scones provided comfort where all seemed lost only moments ago. Make sure you get a table with a nice view and just nonchalanteley move the rubbish and empty tea cups onto the next table. Trays are hard to find but bearded baristas wear beard nets. Nice touch!
I. B.
Its a lovely store a lot of Buitiful stuff I will go back .The new bit is great .
M. M.
Nice big store, plenty of selection. A little more crowded than I would like but manageable
A. K.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to get round the store as it's very big. Looked very good though.
U. J.
Very rude customers, it is frustrating to get around and find things while the refurbishment going on. Have feeling that the quality has been dropping lately. Sales assistants friendly and helpful.
E. F.

G. H.
Great service. Ideal for especially for larger electronic purchases that you can view in store.
M. B.
The fantastic customer service & quality goofs you expect from The John Lewis Partnership. The Edinburgh store is slightly marred at present due to major building works adjacent to it & impinging on the store itself.
A. B.
Good selection of everyday products
H.
Bought 6 clothes hangers, one of which was broken, didn't notice till I got home. Spoke to customer services, refunded immediately. Very helpful & friendly.
M.
Always find John Lewis superb in every way. Unfortunately not a blemish on JL they didn't have anything suitable. Having arthritic feet (hospital measured wrong) and nylon allergy is impossible
R.
Pretty good department store. Good range of products, good deals. Staff are pretty attentive. We ran into one who was not great.
J. C.
Got satisfactory result at IT department. Given complimentory tea and cake voucher while I waited. The household department has been tidied up and reorganised since I was last visited.
K. F.
This is my favourite place to shop, due to health reasons I’ve not been able to be there as often as normal but I cannot wait to return. The staff have taken the time to know me by name so it’s like ‘going home!’
C. S.
Top draw customer service in TV department - many thanks again Quintin for efficiency and being so helpful with ordering new humax box for my tv and straight forward exchange due to other being faulty earlier in the week - collected the new box following day. John Lewis is best place to go for new tv's etc. The new humax box is bit more uptodate but so easy to use and i am enjoying using it .. Highly recommend John Lewis electrical department to!
R. M.
John Lewis stocks a wide range of different products from clothing to electrics to household goods.

Also has two cafes, one Hotel Chocolat cafe and one John Lewis restaurant.

G. R.
We had a drink here and John had a cake and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The views of Edinburgh from the restaurant are fantastic. You can see for miles .

The displayes are vamped up, the decoration and the feel of the place is much better and not dated anymore!
Worth a visit :)

Thanks so much to the lady in haberdashery on 24/08/19 for help with the material for my preschool nieces dresses, right at the end of a busy Saturday. Staff like you are why I continue to shop at John Lewis.
A. P.
Always enjoyable and interesting to browse, and sometimes even buy stuff. Helpful courteous staff, bright and airy store.
L. C.
Nice experience, had a lovely coffee.
L. O.
If you sign up to their mailing list then you get vouchers sent to get a free coffee and cake each month.
I am currently enjoying a slice of carrot cake and a latte.
R. W.
Social distancing, clear pricing, more room to move and shop. Lovely franchise, well organised and nice selection of items. Courteous staff
H. M.
Imho a bit pricy. Reminds me a lot of the department stores like KARSTADT, or KAUFHOF here in Germany. When I said "pricy" I am talking about the "house brands" in particular. While in Germany those seem to be a good balance between price and quality they seemed to be a little too much on the expensive side in this store.
T. V.
Nice but busy place at ghd top of John Lewis. Food is always fresh and views across to the Firth of Forth from the panoramic windows a real tonic.
B. P.
Nafisa in men department was great and we had a fantastic experience!

In the new cafe on the 5th floor. Views are excellent and better seating arrangement. Food is okay but a lot more self service encouraged that may not suit some.
M. M.
Huge John Lewis store in the heart of Edinburgh, it has everything that you would ever need and if it does they always have their own website. Lovely clean and well looked after store with friendly staff
M. P.
Living nearby means that John Lewis has become my default place to go for any slightly unusual homewares that I'd otherwise not know where to find. JL almost always comes up trumps. Can't speak highly enough of its ability to have every tiny little thing and then slap a hefty price tag on it - quite a skill. Well done all.
C. O.
Although helpful the menu was very limited in a place to eat. I understand about Covid but to reduce the menu so greatly was a disappointment.
A. s. d.
They are very friendly and helpful staff..
Don’t forget to have coffee n cake of the top floor with a city view..
Only down side is coffee cups are too small.
a. s.
Love John Lewis shop and their cafe on top floor- its a must if you're in Edinburgh. Views are stunning and cakes are awsome
J. P.
Perfect for high quality shoping yet cheap. Best of British and the staff is kind, patient and well presented. If there was Waitrose it would be complete.
S. A.
Great shopping experience at the Edinburgh store, from the helpful" handbag lady" right through to the " wrapping Lady", all the staff were lovely.
Thank you.
N. B.

Lovely new store. I’m disappointed there is not more wool for sale. I had to ask where the exit is.
D. W.
Good that the store remains open and trading. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Toilets and restaurant not up to speed though.
B. H.
Now that John Lewis has had it's store make over its a whole new store with helpful staff
A. M.
Fantastic customer service.
The store is however lacking choice and stock of goods at the moment. Hopefully this will be resolved following completion of the renovations.
A. A.
Managed to get a reasonably stress free return of a faulty microwave today. Many thanks for your help! Will be back in store soon!
K. M.
Excellent department-store; friendly helpful staff. Very good coffee shop on the 5th floor with great views towards the Firth of Forth.
c. d.
Display gondolas and floors in soft furnishing department were thick with dust and fluff. Staff very helpful though.
I. L.
Beautiful views of the city of Edinburgh from the top floor restaurant. The store is an upmarket place with prices to match though all goods are of high quality.
J.
Great! Staff always friendly and go out of the way to help.
M. D.
Shopping is always a pleasure. Have a assistant on each. Had sanitizer on the main entrance. Very pleasant vist.
I. M.
I was looking for some formal looking summer dresses and was helped by several staff members to find my size in store and online. I had a good time shopping here.
M. Z.
Very big store. Has most if not everything in it. The staff always seem willing to help and the café upstairs has wonderfull food, trying to pick what to have is a constant dilemma.
d. b.
Twice I’ve ordered fabric samples from JL and twice they haven’t arrived! I called the customer service ans they couldn’t help me.... decided to go elsewhere and the fabric samples were sent within the week. Poor service.....
M. M.
Like shop but completely disorientated because of building works. Staff as always very helpful and guided me in right direction. Got my mascara though
R. P.
Best deals on Harris Tweed! I feel like I've been in every shop that sells it. This place has the best deals and biggest selection.
F.
Local, next to the new St James, plenty of entrances, not sure about parking? Paid parking across the road, plenty of products, Xmas, household electrics
A. C.
