I cannot rate Lothian Domestics highly enough, even though they did not wind up performing my repair. I used their very handy online booking tool to schedule a washer/dryer repair. The next day, I got a call from their reception. One of their engineers had taken a look at my description of the fault, and determined that the repair could very well be incredibly expensive, and that I could probably save money by going directly through the manufacturer as they will have better access to hard-to-find parts. They let me keep my booking slot until I'd had time to check with the manufacturer, and once I'd determined that that would indeed be the best way forward, it was very easy to cancel with their online service. They easily could have just taken the job, shown up, and charged the diagnostic fee, but they were pro-active and took the time to try to save me money at their own expense. I may not have used them this time, but I will be going to Lothian Domestics any time I have any other repairs in the future, and will be recommending them to all my friends.

Communication was great from booking to visit. Unforeseen circumstances meant my appointment time couldn’t be met but I was moved to the afternoon slot. 2 engineers turned up and the job was completed in the space of 20 minutes. Amazing service, managed to get an earlier appointment that had been cancelled. Paul arrived first thing in the morning, abided by covid guidelines, got right to work diagnosing the fault and had the pump out and replaced within 20 minutes. William identified the issue that was an electrical fault with the wiring of the house rather than the washing machine, and tested the washing machine was still receiving power so as to be confident that once the electrician has been that the washing machine will work again. Very happy with my washing machine repair. Our engineer assessed and fixed the problem within 20 minutes and the rates are pretty fair. The company sends you reminder texts about your appointment and messages estimating when your engineer arrives which is very helpful. First time customer, would use again. Edit: our machine broke again around two weeks after my review above, it was the same fault again. I arranged for an engineer to come out to fix it via online booking. Liam arrived promptly this morning, and assessed the problem was a faulty part that he’d put in last time. These things happen, not a bother, I was able to book an appointment rather quickly online which is very helpful when I do shift work and work odd patterns. He was very careful removing the machine as to not rip our lino, so I do not understand these reviews that paint the engineers as careless when Liam was meticulous and professional on both visits. A mere ten minute repair. I wasn’t charged, which surprised me because I was expecting at least a call out charge, but due to the faulty part, I wasn’t. I’m still very happy with my repair and the service provided by Lothian Domestics. I’d review again but I don’t think google would let me, hence the edit.

Great service from start to finish. I could book my preferred appointment online. Then received updates and reminders via email and text. Even in my 9-1 window, I received a text 15 Min before the engineer arrived to say he was on his way. Honest feedback given about my dishwasher and very reasonable fallout fee. My engineer, Liam, was very friendly and helpful, and I would have no hesitation recommending Lothian Domestic to anyone.

Lothian Domestics are approved Samsung service engineers) Able to select a date & time to suit me for engineer visit (a few days time/my next day off), received a call next morning saying engineer had probable part in van and could come that day if I wished (3 days early!) On engineer day a further text advising ETA, which was very accurate. Engineer polite, chatty, and very efficient in repair tasks. Our Samsung washing machine needed a warranty repair and the put us in touch with Lothian Domestics. We received a text asking us to book online. There mobile site was easy to use and you can attach notes and images. I did this and was then sent a message saying a part would be required and could we fix up another date. This saves a double visit for the technician as they are able to establish what the fault could be and offer a first time fix. Second appointment set up and was called to say the technician was running late and gave an approximate time which was spot on. Washing machine fixed and all covered by Warranty. Could not have asked for anything more.

Very quick at responding to queries. Disconected excisting washing machine and fitted a 13amp single socket in place of the hard wired spur. Easy to arrange visit via booking on mobile phone (although would be good not to have so much overlap in times between am and pm slots). Engineer texted before he arrived, can't fault the work done, he was very helpful and good at clearing up afterwards. Paid as original quoted, would certainly recommend and use again.
