Reviews of The House of Bruar
T. T.
It is a destination shopping experience. Very upper class. Extortionate prices for somethings, I saw a cotton waistcoat for £425! The food hall was nice for all the fresh produce. Hubby went to the whisky centre and had a nice relaxed chat with the expert in there. He wasn't pushy. The staff throughout were friendly but the whole thing is very overpriced.
M. C.
Very nice store offering a selection of High branded goods and a vast variety of everything from clothing, food , drink hit and cold. Pretty much everything you could want in one place (mini up-market department store).
On site cafe selling hot and cold food. This is not a cheap Gregg's stop but more of an upper market stop for shopping and food so expect prices to reflect this. Ample parking and access. Friendly as staff. I would recommend a visit.

Love this place!!! A perfect place for a bite to eat, lots of good options, fun shops, good prices in the shops. Great place to get souvenirs and other fun items. Good paistries, meat pies, lots of places to sit and eat too.

If you happen to be wealthy, then this place will be an absolute playground for you. For the rest of us, there is no doubting that The House of Bruar is a spectacular place, however don't expect to be able to justify spending much money here.
£10 for a small portion of vacuum packed crab? I can pay £4.50 for just as much fresh crab from a local fishmonger. You pay for the experience and the brand at The House of Bruar.

This is an upmarket country store for the hunting shooting fraternity. However it has a very good sale section and an excellent food hall. The restaurant is very good with everything from sandwiches to seafood platters and roast dinners, and a seperate fish and chip shop that serves lobster and chips in season. Well worth a stop off if your in the area although it can be busy.

If you're passing or visiting nearby, drop in and experience everything this destination has to offer. There's a wide range of outdoor clothing from many brands, including Patagonia, Barbour, North Face and more! The food hall is similar with the large selection of quality products from local sources and others from across Scotland. We ate at the onsite restaurant, which served high-quality food; the prices were reasonable considering the location, but the desserts were a letdown! If you like whiskey, this is a renowned destination; the priciest bottles were £24,000 each, with a collectors set commanding £60,000 for six bottles.

Unlike anything I’ve ever found before in the UK, very varied and huge range of options for shops. From clothes to hunting to fishing to culinary to art! Prints are well worth catching a glimpse of. Food court and gardens are immaculately designed, made for a lovely day out.
L. S.
Beautiful store, an amazing selection of products, clothing, footwear, Ornaments, food, etc. The restaurant food is Amazing! A massive varied selection, and top quality. Very clean.
J. D.
Great stop! Wide variety of outerwear, food, and house wears. Put this on the list if your anywhere in the area.
Really great prices for the products! You'll enjoy the shops and the food. Great service in the food shops too 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👌🏽

Traditional tweed clothing for that country aesthetic.
Restaurant buffett food quality was ok if a little expensive? A roast lamb lunch or steak and ale pie with vegetables lunch for 2 people £33.70. Kids meals available.
Unfortunately I found an insect in my steak pie which I returned to the kitchen. The staff were mortified and replaced the meal with fresh pie from a new pie tray.
They removed the older pie tray for disposal I assume?
Apparently the flying insects tend to be a common event that the staff have to contend with?
In spite of this hiccup. The steak pie was very tasty.

If you have money to burn this is the place to go - but maybe not on a busy Saturday as social distancing was Not A Thing. Good range of expensive products from clothes to cheese. Snacks from canteen are £5, Meals are £12 to £20 for a wee portion and a wee cup of coffee. Bathrooms are super clean and tidy and exceptionally well kept♡ good range of fresh fruit and veg and plants too. Easy to find and large car park. Easy disabled access for parking and entering building.
J. R.
A must stop, I’d say. Excellent selection of local goods and also just a good curation of high quality imported items. Their in-house brand is great, and they’ve got a great selection of artwork.
C. L. T.
Expensive but extensive range of foods and clothing. The only place in Scotland where we found tins of Moffat Toffees. Bought some and Clootie Dumplings. Had a Scotch Pie and a slice of game pie, nice. Country clothing for when you're out in the Glen is good. Antiques section had some nice items. Sadly there were no Arbroath Smokies this time.
A. S.
A destination of shopping experience. I felt like it so costly there. Enjoyed the environment there with a lot of people enjoying there life and the staffs are so welcoming.
j. j.
A lovely little gem tucked away in the beautiful Highlands. loads of parking, with well stocked shops of Scottish Fayre just off the A9, Friendly staff. Facilities are great and the Toilets spotless. Restaurant was very busy so that must speak for it's self. Well worth stopping even if only for a browse and a coffee, can be pricey but Quality counts here
J. B.
Acres of parking, acres of clothing shops, loadsa food in acres of restaurant.
Behind is an excellent walk to the falls.
S. G.
Love the house if Bruar. Great to see it fully open again. Only problem is the restaurant. The good is lovely. Only problem is the queue to the tills. By the time you get to them the food is luke warm at best.
The seating area is quite large so it might be nice to have someone direct you to a table instead of wandering about while your food gets colder. But a lovely day out.
Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful
F. D.
Great place. The food/restaurant side kinda reminded me of stopping at a Cracker Barrel in the US. Also some high end clothing, art, etc. Unique to Scotland.
N.
Very nice place to shop around and to eat . Nice and exquisite clothing for men , woman and children .
They got handbags , shirts , skirts , dresses , coats , jackets , shoes etc . They got a big collection for men as well . But it's a bit on the expensive side . If they can look into the prices that would be really good , i mean people would be able to spend more freely . 🙂
You can get fish and chips when you need a break after doing shopping or visiting around , it tastes awesome . They got a nice variety . You can get scottish icecream as well which was just yum.😋
Here is full on package to come and visit here as you can see the blair castle and falls of bruar as well . They got a market and a resturant here as well. So it's a full package if you wanna come here to spend time with family and friends .🙂
In this supermarket you can get so much stuff like a huge variety of honey , jams , marmalade , toffees , sweets, chocloates , pasta sauces , roasted chicken , beef , pork and turkey etc. They got infused oils as well. Teas with different flavours .
Fruits , like cherry , oranges etc . Huge variety to choose from when you go inside . 🤩😍
You can get toilets there as well . They were clean and well equiped but they close down as the market closes down at 5pm .
Enjoyed alot while doing hiking , and shopping around . But while we were there unfortunately castle was closed and i was not able to visit it . But next time definetly will go there to visit the castle and have their scottish icecream and fish&chips🙂

Retail experience close to the A9. Large store with many good items in a large Food Hall. Large restaraunt with a somewhat limited and pricey menu. Coffee and Hot Chocolate are tasty but from machines. Outdoor seating available under large glazed roof.
On same site is a ladies clothing store and Fish n Chips shop.
Large car park but lacks benches for seating and a kids play area.
B. H.
Well laid out shops/stores beautifully displayed with plenty of car parking. Sells loads of quality goods along with a large variety of Scottish products nice area for coffee or lunch and a really nice fish and chip shop. Products tend to be more expensive than can be found elsewhere but worth it for shopping experience.
P. H.
Stopped here for a late lunch and the cafe was still busy. The food was reasonable, although a cup of tea was lukewarm and watery - American style. Clean toilets and extensive seating area, but functional rather than pleasant or relaxed. Plenty of parking and space to walk a dog. Of course, people really go there for the shopping, but I only stopped for a meal.
a. h.
First time that I've been up here after passing it many time. Had heard great things about it and wasn't disappointed. Very wide selection of different clothes and food.
They also have a great whiskey shop that has a very wide selection of different scottish whiskeys. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
My wife and kids went to the chip shop and they had a great box of chips for a very reasonable price also. Hopefully be back soon to be able to get some of their game meats on offer.
C. C.
Would say this place as grown over the years I've been up and down the A9.
The food hall is amazing with all sorts of scottish produce. Also if you are needing a wee bite to eat, the restaurant area has a great selection of food and cakes with a pleasant glass roof sitting area which feels like dining outdoors.
Can be a bit expensive though and it's mainly for tourists which can attract bus trip and large coaches. We'll worth a stop over though.
s. t.
As always it is a pleasure to go to the House of Bruar. The food is great.A very well run business. Well stocked Staff wonderful
M.
I love The House of Bruar. At first I was a little skeptical about going in there because I had never been to a country store before and wasn't sure what to expect. Once I stepped inside, however, I knew it was a perfect place for me. They have everything from produce to meats to housewares--even the food is really delicious! If you're looking for an upmarket country store, this is it!
R. M.
Main reason we went there was the nice little hike/walk around the waterfalls which is beautifull and we very enjoyed it.
As for the shopping centre, I'm sure they have some nice organic food and all but its just way too expensive. Fish and chips shop is quite good and they even have a lobster if you want go fancy🤟🙂
Overall really nice day out so definitely recommend to visit🙂
J. B.
Some people on here are utter snobs.I am from fife, and travel up,about twice a year for the experience. It's a lovely day out,and the products are top quality, as you would expect. If you want something, out of the ordinary, it's a gem of a place to go.Always, come up in October, and get some lovely Christmas decorations, which I can't get elsewhere. Lovely staff, always very well mannered, and attentive.
D. B.
Always visiting House or Bruar when we go to Scotland! Delicious food at the restaurant. Good secection of food/home items/clothing/jewellery. And if you fancy ice cream you must go to the ice cream shop inside the Fish and Chips shop because their 2 scoops are the size of a tub of ice cream! And so delicious! Definitely recommend.
L. C.
A fabulous place to visit.. You could spend all day here and still not see everything..
Wonderful food hall and butcher counter fab..
Beautiful looking meat.. I bought some, but not long arrived home so I haven't tried it yet... But I'm sure I will be very happy with it...
As quality is key with everything available throughout House of Bruar, & because of location and type of place to shop, things can be expensive, but so worth it..
I would definitely recommend a visit.. You will not be disappointed!!
P.
Stylish, elegant and comfortable shoes of excellent quality! I recently ordered a pair of boots to London as I couldn't find a similar model anywhere else. Fantastic customer service, fast delivery, and excellent quality. Really satisfied with my purchase and it is a pity I can't give you a lovely review on your website as well. Patrick.
L. M.
Harrods of the Highlands, well maybe more Fortnum & Mason, but great place for a browse, if you're not on the market for country leisure wear, antiquities or sheepskin anything! The cafe serves fab soup, and the food hall is very reasonably priced with a great selection across the board. Just wish it wasn't a 3 hour drive away! Will definitely be back soon though
K. M.
Lovely complex with a wide range of clothing. The food hall staff were very friendly and helpful. However the ladies shoes etc not so great. I wanted to buy a pair of shoes £125. The lady I asked for help would rather adjust the bags than help. However I did eventually find out they did not have my size in stock. No further information forthcoming so I looked on the website to find out when they are back in stock. I guess I will order them online. Always wanted to visit left feeling ok not brilliant.
A. D.
Must visit if you are around. Known as the Harrods of the north they have a unique collection of almost everything. Although they are not cheap but you are likely to get something to fit all the budget. The food collection is one of the best in UK. Must not be missed. However, the fish and chips is at best OK and there are better ones around.
I. W.
Only stopped for a short time to use facilities and grab some chips and pie. Definitely worth stopping at. Amazingly beautiful, clean toilets. The first store had the best quality chips.
S. B.
Love this place, call everytime we are in Pitlochry, it is full of quality products, I really like the fishing tackle section 😀 the food section is also worth a visit, great place. …
A. L.
Harrods in the Glen. A very strange place. Special parking for dog owners, but no dogs allowed. A huge variety of high end food, all great quality, but in the middle of nowhere. Fashion for your gran. Nice cafe, but we had to eat in the car with the dog, despite the huge nearly-outdoor atrium.
D. C.
I normally only stop for a convenience break but today we stopped for a meal. I had roast beef, it was a beautiful meal the place was clean and tidy and plenty of staff so no waiting around. I would recommend but some regular items in the shop are a little over priced.
D. S.
Huge range of "not your every day" gastronomic delights. Not cheap, good stop to break up the A9 journey. Chip shop is great, toilets are welcome. Clothing is pricey. Walk to the waterfall and back takes 30mins if you dash. Worth doing.
V. G.
It has a range of shops situated in middle of a scotiss scenic tourist route. This shopping centre has everything you need from butcher's to ice cream and gardening tools to gift items. It's a luxurious shopping centre to take home some Scottish memories.
c. m. b. d.
Ample parking available and space for a picnic
Loos
Good variety of shops for clothing, in and outdoor
Food, drink, Butcher, bake goods jewellery, sports, you name it, it's here ‼️🤠
Now has a fish n chip shop
K. L.
This is a must stop on your roadtrip simply for the steak and onion pie alone!!!
This is a really fun stop for some goodies. The clothes shopping is very high end and expensive which isn't my taste. However, there is a HUGE variety of treats, snacks, and a deli that is sublime.
We really liked the "butter tablet" we purchased here. It was similar to a USA southern praline. This was the best butter tablet we had on our trip.
The deli also has some mini pies that are absolutely delicious. I mean seriously they were so good! The steak and onion and chicken/ham was so comforting.
I will say...the fudge they sell is just mediocre and you can totally skip it.
Bathrooms are very clean as well.
R. S.
We always stop here when travelling from Edinburgh to Inverness as it is so convenient. If I were a tourist I would suggest going in to Pitlochry though....
House of Bruar is very expensive and my wife feels the women's clothes are very dated. I would agree.
I have bought a few things from the Men's Department though.
The whole vibe is Hunting, Fishing, Shooting.
Food Department is very good. The cafe is good especially, the scones, although the coffee is a huge disappointment.
E. G.
Super friendly helpfull staff. Nice cafe with home cooked food. Beautiful place for a wonder round. Prices are very expensive. It is Top quality merchandise.
J. L.
Great coffee, breakfasts and or cakes. Lovely fresh local fruit and veg. The food shop is a treasure trove of goods to browse and buy. I did not visit the fashion house.
P. V. D. Z.
Amazing place for clothing, houseware, tableware, food and sports. Spent a few hours there and had lunch, which was a good decision, because with an empty stomach you would spend a fortune in their food store!!! What an incredible choice for all kinds of food !
Love the place!!!
A. M. W.
Fabulous outlet in a beautiful area of Perthshire. Fresh produce available, the best quality. Clothing and household items available. Lots to see so make sure you have lots of time to browse. Onsite restaurant which is lovely from coffee and cake to steak dinner, great choice for everyone. Also lovely garden items available with lots of seasonal items.
R. T.
A great selection of products from all over the world and many products from the best in UK. A must visit if nearby.
G. C.
As per, a bustling busy place.
Had the mushroom soup and coronation chicken sandwich, my husband had the ham salad sandwich.
A cold drink and a mocha.
The soup was tasty but needed seasoning for my own preference...but both sandwiches were nice.
The mocha was overpriced for the size of cup I got in comparison to a lot of coffee houses Ive had a mocha in.
Overall a good lunch, bit pricier than most but good when you are hungry and need a bite to eat.
A. K.
I emailed this company and got quick, polite, informative answers every time from Kirsti Kay.
I asked about width and length size and was sent a returns label in case I needed it. I didn't. I love my desert boots. They're so soft on the sides around my ankles and have a soft lining under the heel. Really lovely. My largest foot is 5.5 and they fit great. I feel the suede is so soft it might stretch too if needed. They took a few days over a weekend to arrive. Discount through blue light card too.
Thank you 😊❤️.

Everything nice. White wall and black signs are great.

Absolutely beautiful spot - as long as your wallet is deep. 😜 …
R. B.
2nd visit and the store just keeps on giving. Many marvellous items that will suit the shopper of all ages. Helpful staff and a good online shopping presence, items shipped quickly. Back next year and thanks
B. C.
Went for the big sale this weekend and I'm afraid we were pretty dissppointed. In the past I've gotten some great deals, but not this time. Even the items on sale were really pricey and many were only 10 or 20% off. The customer service was good, but couldn't help thinking that I didn't meet their ideal - for instance I got a blank stare when I asked if they had a petite department/section.
Then the food hall - much better. A really good selection and the service there, in the butchery especially, couldn't be faulted. One bloke couldn't have been more helpful and the selection was excellent, with the prices on par with some supermarkets but far, far superior meats - all local, even down to mentioning the farms. If the review was only for this, it would've been 5 star.
The cheesemonger section had a great selection but the staff there didn't seem to be as knowledgeable as the butchers.
And finally, the 'restaurant' which is cafeteria-style. I Suppose with the crowds they get, this is the best way; but by calling it a restaurant, we expected more. Both of us got the carvery and were disappointed. The pork was dry and didn't come with any crackling and they only had one gravy for all of the roasts (turkey, lamb or pork). The veg sides were good, although not the sprouts, and the roast potatoes were really poor - looked good but not crispy at all (left under the heat lamps too long..?). They had plenty of sauces to go with (mint, horseradish, cranberry, etc) though. The lamb was better, very tender, which made it obvious that the cutlery was not up to scratch. The knife was so dull that I couldn't even saw through the thin bit of fat/skin around the lamb, nor the sprouts, which were hard.
It was only when we left the conservatory that we saw there was an outside spit with pork (and other meats) and we could have had a hog roll. Although it was dreich, we would have gone for that; looked great and better value than inside. They also have a chippy which looked excellent and again, if it wasn't so cold/wet, we'd have gone for that. But they didn't even have heaters outside to sit at their tables to eat it. A missed chance for them for sure to extend the season for the chippy.
So, overall, a big sigh, especially because it was our 1st day out in a long time and I shudder to think of how much the drive cost us in diesel.
D. M.
Visited Pitlochry on Wednesday and lost my wallet containing all my cards etc, on phoning store they found wallet and promptly posted it out to me. I must thank staff very much for this as saved me a 1 1/2 hour trip back to pick it up. Thanks again.
J. P.
Visited the foodhall whilst away for the weekend. Have visited before so knew what to expect.
It sells all sorts of cheeses , fresh meats , beers ,whisky and all sorts of thngs you would find in a delicatessen that you might find difficulty in finding elsewhere. Not cheap but I love this place , I could spend hours in it and end up bankrupt!.
L. G.
Lovely shopping experience but very expensive. We stopped to grab some lunch. 2 sandwiches 3 soft drinks and a bag of crisps to take away. small change only out of £20.
G. S.
Beautiful area, bit expensive compared to last visit, great choice of food available and great choice of gifts throughout the retail areas. Need to be a millionaire to buy the clothes shop though. Great for a visit
G.
Amazing place! Perfect to wander round for a few hours. Such a beautiful selection of cashmere jumpers in a vibrant range of colours.
A. M.
Lovely place to stop when returning from Aberdeen or Perth. Visited in December 2021 and again in December 2022.
The Food hall had an array of food. I ordered the salmon & roast potatoes. The delicatessen is charming. I purchased honey roasted cashew nuts with so much flavour. I also as bought frozen poultry to go. The bakery had an assortment of delicacies.
I recommend it to anyone travelling to Scotland. Extra points to House of Bruar for having a multicultural team.
Looking forward to my next visit.
S. K.
Great shop. Staff are very helpful, I have a run up now and again to get both the individual and family steak pies. And the jam.
Cafe is good too. A big thumbs up for The House of Bruar.
Y. N.
Traditional and sophisticated shop. But I'm sorry to say that the lady at the till in the ladys department was verry rude to my daughter because she didn't buy all the clothes she had fitted. We are customers for a long time, but this time we where leaving with a bad taste in our mouth.
O. C.
An attraction in the middle of nowhere. Local farmers contribute to the market place, so its a great place to sample local produce and encourage local trade. Food, attire, accessories, cakes, pastries, locally sourced alcohol brands et al available here.
K. R.
Regularly visit and do all my Christmas shop at the house of bruar and always love it, however today was an exception. Staff were very uninformed about products and very disinterested in serving with a dismissive attitude. House of bruar prides itself on attention to detail and the very friendly helpful staff. There was a serious lack of staff in the alcohol section for a long period of time, we waited and then left that section as did others. Items that were displayed were not available to buy 🤔 did find a lovely lady or two that eventually helped me - it just all felt off kilter and ruined my day. A bit disappointed after driving 3 hours to get there. Hope it’s better next time.
M. C.
Only the fish and chip shop was open when we called in for a pit stop. The chip butties were outstanding. You can get lobster and chips, but choosing which lobster from the tank may upset some!
D. O.
We love visiting The House of Bruar whenever we are in Aberfeldy. It is a conglomeration of shops selling homeware, groceries and clothing including specialist apparel. It is not the cheapest place, but then the quality of goods sold are to an exceptional quality and you can often pick up something unique. The onsite fish and chip shop even sells Lobster and chips. There is a cafe and a restaurant on the site, both selling a good selection of food and drinks, again not the cheapest but again excellent produce.
J. F.
Everything is of a high standard. From clothes to footwear and accessories. I have used this store for a while now and have not been disappointed. The service is very good. Would definitely recommend.
K. S.
Had to return a jacket and I was very impressed with the service. The girl I spoke to on the phone was lovely. Well done House of Bruar. Keep up the good work
c. o.
Sales good again. Unfortunately this time around I was not impressed with staff, especially in the restaurant. Some had such a poor attitude to customer service. At one point I had to remonstrate with one of the waiting staff when he allowed the swing door to slam into my face. To add insult it was after I had allowed him to go before me. Poor service House of Bruar.
B. T.
Stopped in to the house of bruar for a look around, then I seen the price for a 10oz rump steak at £16.95 so I thought can only try it at that price and I must admit it was a great steak meal and we'll be back for it again soon
B. M.
Wow what a fab store. Well worth a very long browse. It is full of stunning things. We only came out with 2 beautiful dog beds. But could have bought so much more. We were sad we ate else where as the cafe here and food Hall looked so great.
D.
I'm sad to say that this former jewel of a place on the A9 is in decline. The shops are large and goods they sell can be purchased for much less on line. The food is ok but again can be purchased for much less in Inverness. Sadly the restaurant is a mere twinkle of what it used to be.
Will I go again? Probably but, if going south (or possibly North too) I'd use Bankfoot between Perth and Dunkeld.
A. T.
Top tier department store with presentation to rival the best London or Edinburgh can offer, but in a wonderful setting with the Falls of Bruar just a 20 minute walk away. The site includes high end clothing departments, a food hall selling top quality local produce, a café and restaurant and fish and chip shop. Prices are consistent with the high end presentation. Ample free parking and spotless facilities. A perfect rest stop on a trip across Scotland.
G. W.
A comprehensive range of stylised clothing for gents and ladies along with many household decorative items.
There is a special Wedding List room to help plan the gift list.
There are many gift ideas options as well as garden centre items in the courtyard.
A very large cafe offers drinks and cakes whilst a restaurantcoffers meals at very reasonable prices. A wonderful place for a day out or Christmas shopping.
A. P.
Amazing place for different tastes my problem on entering this food hall was there was just far to much choice haha. I could of spent ages looking around but had to go to the falls. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area only downside is it's very pricey I seen items £10 over normal price. So had to knock a star off.
It's well maintained, clean and has free parking. Beautiful place in a beautiful part of Scotland.
E. V.
I have bought from House of Bruar on numerous occasions.
Products -good range of designs and productd
Quality - the product quality is excellent.
Service - excellent service.
Delivery - speedy delivery.
I highly recommend House of Bruar.

Beautiful premises located in a scenic area, nice gentle walk to scenic falls of bruar great choice of shopping if you don't mind paying that bit extra.
S. H.
Was gifted a beautiful lambswool "sheep" design jumper by a sister-friend who knows I keep my own flock of Boreray Sheep... An absolutely stunning gift that was the embodiment of receiving a warm hug from my friend & the sheep who provided wool. Bruar great service & wool really is the best. Thank u all. Definitely worthy recipients 5🐑🐏🐑🐏🐑Baas! Sarah & the Kensa Kernow Boreray xxx

The Harrods of the north on the outskirts of Blair athol off the A9.. country pursuits cashmere, tartan, tweed, Barbour a few to mention, butcher shop,cafe/restaurant, fresh produce, flower shop the have it all a great place for a bite to eat and shop or browse if you fancy a walk head round the back to the falls of bruar.
N. F.
Really great shop, everything you could ever need. Staff really helpful, restaurant was fantastic with good range of food.
A. S.
An upmarket shopping experience with everything Scottish. Expensive place though there is a sale warehouse with discounts to be found. Nearby are the Falls of Bruar - lovely waterfalls and stream walk.
T. T.
Has a lovely cashmere store and other clothing store for both gender. It is quite expensive tho. Theres a shop with loads of sweets teas tablet cookies and other confectionery products. Theres also home made options and souvenirs. Theres a resturant inside thats usually busy with alot of food options and theres also a fish and chips shop on the premises. Ordered a fish and chip and it was absolutely delicious and cheap too. Theres ample parking space too and amazing scenery.
K. F.
As busy as ever in mid September. Indoor and outdoor cafés doing a roaring trade. Where does everyone come from? My wife did the shopping and I read the paper. First class loos of course.
H. A.
Lovely lovely place for shopping, especially the jackets.. they have many tips and many brands.. very nice design and high quality.. kind staff and great service.
I like the place it’s very marvelous..
There is many shops in the shop, and different items, foods and restaurants.
The place remained me in Harrods, everything available here.
J. B.
Fantastic for all types of clothing and home furnishings etc, great to get the odd wee gift for your loved ones also.
A. K. J.
Very attractive prices, very good quality, very efficient delivery.
Bought 4 cashmere jackets from them.

Stunningly unique and yet quintessentially Scottish shopping experience. Top quality produce and clothing. More marmalade than you've ever seen in your puff. And the ultimate rest stop for travellers
B. R.
A very enjoyable experience (but very busy) and so much products and produce to choose from. Available items from clothes, food, confectionery, fresh fruit and veg, alcohol, restaurant and a fish and chips takeaway that offers lobster 🦞 (not a normal offering in a chippy 😀) well worth a visit when in the vicinity. 👍👌 …

This is a must see if you have time in your journey. Sells everything from plants and garden ornaments, clothes, sweets and local produce. The restaurant is always busy but has a good choice of meals, snacks and cakes. Great place to take a break in your journey, have a coffee and relax. Toilets are clean and there's a lot of cubicles in the women's area so don't have to wait to long. There's also baby changing/nursing rooms and spacious disabled rooms. Staff are pleasant and happy to help.
H. G.
Great-super food hall-not cheap but great steak pie, hot pies to take out, impressive selection of cheeses, many deli items and wonderful butcher’s counter.
Coffee/cakes /breakfast cafe in atrium also nice.
Wide range of clothing-visit the discount block. (Not for trendy teenagers however..)
Gets busy but plenty of parking.
Worth a visit-east to access/ find just off the main road north past Pitlochry.
Also lovely walk to Bruar falls just by side of main building. But is uphill so not for those with walking difficulties.Good path, otherwise.
P. S.
This place is quality quality quality.
If you are looking for authentic, food, clothes, garden items or furniture and have a full wallet this place is for you.
It's also a great place just to walk around stretch your legs and browse.
The hot food is FANTASTIC a roast dinner will set you back £16.50 but it may be the best roast dinner you have ever had outside your grans kitchen.
It's all quite expensive but you definitely get what you pay for.
Very large car park, disabled parking and access and easily accessible.
There are no electric car charging points here so don't stop if you only need a charge.
L. C. n. A.
Amazing beautiful though expensive shop. Worth a stop just to browse.
Lovely woodland walk behind taking you to lovely views of Falls of Bruar
L. M.
Big shopping centre, big parking. We came here to walk to the waterfall. The most beautiful forest I ever seen, moderate walk. Beautiful waterfalls. Great relaxing day out.

A fascinating place and a good subject for a case study for a business is sociology student.
Quite incredible what the owner has achieved here: he took an empty patch of land by the A9, the main highway to the Highlands, and turned it into a must-stop location -- in the same way that Ray Crochet bought plots of land by American highways and used them for the basis for the McDonalds empire.
What this guy has done is turn his bit of wilderness into a money making machine; they call it the Harrods of the North and offer "country" gear to families on their way up in society: they sell tweeds, oilskins, cashmere and all sorts of clothing; they sell garden pots and plants, have a series of restaurants, including a fish and chip shop, and have just opened a bookshop.
They have taken the country gentleman clothing style and added it to the Macdonald's ethos and made a killing.
It's really an elegant motorway cafe and is so well done that people don't seem to mind paying extra for the nicely presented stuff they flog for a premium.
After taking photos of the operation and officious woman in the clothing department told me to stop taking photos: "The boss doesn't like it and he's on the premises." This means that my photos are more important than usual.
K. M.
I always stop in here on my way down the A9. They always have lovely things to see. Plenty of local produce, excellent cafe, huge sweets display. The toilets are kept to a really high standard. The fish and chip place is fabulous. There is plenty of parking and the clothing shops are worth a nosy.
The place is a little expensive but, being the only shop on the A9 for 50 miles..... that's kind of a given.
R. M.
Not what I expected. Too crowded and too much food oriented. Food is good however. And restaurant has airy feel. The spend a lot of attention to details and the shop was nice too. The ladies will be happy I assume but the mens section, to my taste, was actually quite limited. Free and ample parking.
J. F.
We stopped here during a long drive it's far better than any fuel stop cafe! Lots to walk round and see, and we used a nice little cafe. Very clean and near a beautiful local landscape for stretching the legs at.
A. S.
Great place to stop on A9, (speed camera central). Little pricey £5.95 for roll and sausage but lots to do and see including sporting clothes and equipment, garden centre and variety of refreshments, huge consevatory. Good parking and wheelchair accessible. Worth a visit.
V. D.
Nice place to shop catering for all in the clothing, fishing tackle section, also nice restaurant for lunch or just for snacks.
G. M.
Awesome place and definitely worth a visit. If you want top quality products, from food and clothing, to houseware, I would highly recommend The House of Bruar. Only reason for the not quite the full 5 stars was because of the lack of sizes for most of the jackets of which I was looking for and had to go online to order from another place anyways.
K. P.
Who would suppose to find there such a good and true olives? Nice place to stop and buy some interesting things. Unfortunately is quite expensive as well.
L. B.
Had a lovely wander here today, I particularly enjoyed the food hall and my partner got himself some lovely new flys for fishing with. Had a very tasty ice cream before we left too!
D. S.
Some beautiful products expensive but high quality.
We did a little shopping and had a scone and tea then before we left a lovely Ice cream.
Worthy of a visit if you are in the area.
F.
Disappointing as they advertise all stock reduced price. I was buying lots of food bits for hampers - the prices were just the normal ones. I thought it might be reduced off the total but just checked my receipt and nothing off.
G. W.
All round excellent place and a great pit stop along the A9. Quality clothing and a good selection of food to eat in or take away. Amazing walks around the place and we even spotted a red squirrel in the grounds.
a.
A nice place to visit especially around Christmas time. Excellent selection of clothing, gifts, food and drink. Certainly not the cheapest but worth a visit if not for the atmosphere and a good browse. We didn't eat there but had a lovely visit and came away with a nice selection of gifts.
A. R.
Normally this would get a 5 star rating, but my recent visit felt hustled and touristy. They have also done something with the lighting that makes you feel under interrogation when viewing items, shame as it was one of our fav visits in the area. That said the food hall is top quality still!
K. D.
Lovely pitstop as usual but disappointingly unable to get a breakfast bacon or sausage roll after 11am and nothing hot until lunch at 12 noon. Couldn't wait 50 minutes as on a long journey. There were many others in same predicament. Could improve customer experience
D. G.
Highly recommended.
Good hall rivals Harrods or Mitsukoshi! Amazing
Lovely Garden centre, large country clothing section and retail outlet.
Huge carpark.
Well worth the stop. Allow plenty time, there’s a lot to see and buy!
m. a.
This is a tourist attraction, I would expect very popular with american tourists. Number of high end shops, clothes, homeware, antiques, food etc. Also a large restaurant and heated under cover seating area. Large free carpark and very clean toilets. Very good walk up to the waterfalls, about an hour. Quite easy walk but some rough and steep parts so, trainers as a minimum recommended. Nice place.
R. A.
This review is for an online purchase of a jacket.
Website was easy to use, description was spot on, as was size.
Arrived promptly and well packaged. Great quality own label jacket.
J.
An absolutely brilliant place, it has an extensive range of high quality products and while it's maybe a bit on the expensive side, you get quality. If you're hungry, there is an amazing chippie on site which does a fantastic fish supper. I'd definitely highly recommend.
N. H.
Driving from Edinburgh to Inverness, I worked up an appetite! So 2 of the 3 hours on road trip to Inverness, stopped here! It was awesome! I got a wee bit carried away! Delicious Fish and Chips, Bundaberg Ginger Beers, Sweets, Sweets and more Sweets!! The sweetest treat was seeing the beginning of the rainbow for the first time in my life in Spectacular Scotland!! 😁🌍🏴❤
S. K.
It's a well appointed specialty shop plaza that offers an outdoor market, whiskey shop, woven cashmere shop,, women's outdoor apparel, candy shop and two restaurants.
K. S.
Whenever we are in Scotland around the Perth/Pitlochry area we always stop off at the house of bruar just off the A9 a few miles past Pitlochry. It has great food, clothes, every kind of drink etc. It has products you rarely see elsewhere and clearly focused on Scottish products. The restuarant serves up very good food and there is a separate fish & chip outlet which even serves lobster and chips!!
D. M.
We came here in hopes to get some Langoustine before leaving Scotland. We walked into the Foodhall and Jenny answered all our questions and then some. We got exactly what we were looking for. Then we strolled about the rest of the area. It's a great spot to get a little bit of everything including lunch and some dessert. Plus some wonderful roadside views of the mountains
L. S.
Best thing here is the dedicated car parking area fir those of us with dogs. Canopies over the cars and stand pipes of fresh water. Otherwise VERY expensive for beverages and meals with cluttered environment generally
J. P.
This place is amazing the restaurant does some lovely fresh meals, the selection of clothes is very good I think they cater for every age and tastes, few things seem expensive but didn't put us off going twice, they also have an amazing section selling Antiques, pictures and house hold stuff, outside someone was selling fresh fruits and vegetables and they have a good selection of foods inside, for people who don't want to use the restaurant they have a takeaway with lovely fresh fish and chips, also selling ice-cream, we would definitely recommend this place 😀 😊
M. C.
Only went to the food hall, it's obviously fir tourists, it they do have a really nice selection of quality food stuffs, you wouldn't do your weekly shop here, but as a one off its alright
S. F.
Well positioned as a rest stop on the road south ( or north ). I'm not much interested in the clothing stores, of which there are several, but the whisky shop is very good.
J. F.
No drive up or down the A9 is complete without a stopover at House of Bruar. Dog owners will be especially impressed on sunny days when they discover an area of the car park is set aside for dog owners and over-car shading screens are provided. Excellent restaurant and coffee shop facilities, and quite possibly the best bathroom facilities in Scotland! We made a point of stopping therefore for breakfast on this most recent trip and were not disappointed; all ingredients were locally sourced and identified as such. Amazing bacon baps, highly memorable!
B. A.
Great stopping of point on A9. Quality goods for sale. Easy parking
T. A.
A bit of a oasis on the road to Inverness, excellent food hall, some beautiful products for sale, if a bit on the pricey side. Plenty of free parking. Well worth a visit
T. D.
Wish I had money as food Hall has some great stuff and lots of fresh produce. A great place to stop for a rest and a munch if travelling on A9 and treat yrself to some nice food
A. J.
Always love stopping here on our way through the Highlands, the food court is great!
H. M.
It has everything from scrumptious food in the restaurant to a butchers, bakers, a deli upmarket clothes for men and women, a fishing shop and assorted other goods. Well worth a visit.
Stopped off for lunch Saturday past. Very disappointed to see (poly' ?) bags of "Scottish Peat" on sale, esp' with the number of of overseas visitors around. Cop 26 Glasgow?
M. K.
Great range od products to suit all tastes and the best place to find a gift for that special occoasion.
The food court is a must visit and is a great place to pick up the best food and drink scotland has to offer.
Well worth a visit and it is a joy to explore the different departments as everything is so well presented.
G. H.
Very popular on a Sunday afternoon, but plenty of car parking space. A great variety of food, drink, clothing, toys and household items available. Large cafe area available.
P. S.
We went here again during the sales the quality is second to none. Staff are always available and nothing is too much for them. Was extremely busy car park supervisor was essential. The samples and food was of the highest quality and so many drink samples need to be careful if driving. We will be back again next year
L. w. L. t. D. L.
I broke down here and had to be rescued by the AA, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Fish and chip shop was amazing. Everywhere was so clean
P. P.
This place is amazing! We only looked at the food as we are massive foodies. Yes you pay a premium because most of the produce is premium. Is a great place to stop and treat yourself to some excellent local produce that Scotland has to offer. Most definitely worth visiting.
s. c.
Brilliant. Great food at the cafe / restaurant. Clean facilities. Food hall has everything you could want. Busy, but plenty of parking. Great to find a place like this, basically in the middle of nowhere. Good quality products. Very professional staff, and family friendly.
D. M.
Very good. Had lobster & chips along with hot sausage rool. Although think half lobster is overpriced, it was very good. Had haddock & chips on way back, also very good.
R. D.
The wife and I went to the house of bruar as we were staying at blairgowrie it is a large shopping centre good for a walk round on a wet day but very expensive it has a food hall a restaurant and a cafe . it has a clothing hall and a fishing shop with country clothing .
J. R.
Beautiful clothes, food and art. Enjoyed my visit. Even a fish shop selling lobster and chips.
C. 1.
Always like to stop here on our way to Inverness from London. Nice ice cream and good for a browse. It's the Selfridges of the A9
E. W.
Sale weekend at House of Bruar was exciting and lots of wonderful items to taste and buy.
Always a great stop off when in that part of Scotland.
s. m.
Very fancy and richy rich... lovely place (of course)... Hmmm I would prefer a rather friendlier place where people mutually greet n smile 😉 there is a very small waterfalls nearby and I would rather skip it.... …
A. M.
A high quality store with prices to match, our visitors really enjoyed the visit. Good selection in the restaurant
J. S.
A great place to shop and eat. Had a fantastic lunch. Service was excellent.
G. P.
This upmarket shopping centre is a must for window shopping, but unless you find something unique that you simply must keep your wallet in your pocket/handbag- this place marks up its prices considerably to pay for your visit experience!
L. B.
Fabulous shopping. Not your ordinary cheap tourist trinkets. High quality and not cheap but well worth it. If you are like me and want items hand crafted in the UK, check your tags, lots of items made in China etc. Bought a strand of roasted garlic for a friend in the U.S. We thought of him every time we got into the car as the garlic permeated the entire space. Lovely woolens, tweeds, and Scottish eats.
M. M.
It was OK. Staff don't all appear happy in their work. Ordering coffee and cake in the Atrium seemed an interruption to whatever staff were doing. Disappointing.
P. G. W.
Excellent top quality products do not drive past, you may think it looks expensive but top class products are always value for money 👍👍 …
G. S.
Quite busy. Good variety of foods to buy and a lovely gift shop. Restaurant and cafe with seating outside too. Had lobster and chips which was delicious.
L. S.
Always love at stop here, staff a really friendly, toilets are always keep clean ,food hall is just amazing iam totally a foodie person😁 …
D. K.
In the middle of nowhere...you will find shopping at all levels of budget. They have a Sale centre that has prices to die for...beautiful things for everyone.
R. M.
Top quality
Fast Excellent service
Great Customer service this company delivers
Really got me out of a hole I dug myself
Thank you

Great day out, first class fashion and accessories for everyone outdoor, casual and formal dress would recommend a visit cafe and food available all day.
C. D.
Nice cafe/restaurant and some unusual gift ideas. Staff are helpful and plenty of parking available
c. c.
Very good pit stop, a very good stop for meal and drinks. They also have a huge deli with loads of good stuff to get.
D. B.
Department store with a difference as spread over a large area. Clothing, accessories, homewares, garden items and foodstuffs available. Also has a cafe, restaurant options and lovely under glass seating area. Ice creams available too. Great selection of cashmere and a dedicated "Sale" items section too. Lobster and chips served here. Huge car park not at all crowded when we went. We were told it is busier on rainy days! Also a short walk from Bruar Falls which are well worth a visit.
T. P.
VERY POSH. A convenient place to stop off for the loo and refreshments. They have covered parking for dogs (and water) which is great. The food hall is impressive with a good range of home cooked food (hot and cold), a butchers, cheese counter etc.
They also serve Fish and Chips which smelt amazing as you park up.
The toilets are lovely also.
t. b.
Nice place to stop while on your way up to the Highlands or heading back South. Right off the main road, so it's a perfect place to take a quick break. Plenty of food, gifts, and clothes to choose from. Ate breakfast here and it was delicious (as was the coffee). Worth stopping, even to have a quick look). It is expensive, so don't expect finding anything on the cheaper end.
J. R.
Great place to visit, the food hall and restaurant have amazing produce, could spend a fortune here. Bith the female and male clothing stores have some beautiful items and although expensive, you get what you pay for. I love visiting this gem of a place when I'm working away in Scotland
B. B.
Loads of parking, and great quality food. But quite expensive - a bottle of coke was £3! Very helpful, friendly and patient staff even when busy. Two different kids menus on offer (one hot food & one packed lunch type). Photos attached of menus.
D. S.
Great stop on travels through Scotland. Good food options and a nice gift shop and food sales. Easy parking lot and great spot to stop and eat. Highly recommend.
L. A. C.
I loved the vibe and the array if products. I did my shopping here to cook a fab french dish.
M. R.
Not my kind of place. It’s a bit of a “tourist trap” as we say in the States. There’s a building with large selection of outdoor and sporting clothing as well as a good selection of fly fishing gear. There’s a building with foodstuffs and a cafeteria. There’s a building with sale items. I didn’t find anything that for me and prices are rather high.
N. W.
A pretty amazing place. Great products. A terrific whisky shop great menswear and a chippy that sells lobster and chips! A Harrod's/Fortnums in the highlands.
A. H.
This is an absolute must-stop place on the main road - usually quite busy but the Cafe food is amazing (you have to try the vegetable soup, it is completely indescribable). Falls of Bruar is a lovely 40 odd minute walk with beautiful views and steep gorges and rocks to climb on. There's even a little picnic area.
K. R.
Staff were friendly. Store was pleasant to walk through- lots of delicatessen to choose from.
S. N.
Totally love the food hall, I always spend much more than I intend. Really high quality clothing but a wee bit fuddy duddy style-wise for me. Food in the restaurant is delicious. Always a great day out, even better if you include a walk up to the falls.
E. K.
Best stop on our way to Inverness!! We really enjoyed our walk to the waterfalls of Bruar!!And our coffee an brunch at the House of Bruar afterwards. Reasonable prices and lovely staff :) :)
P. K.
Good morning out. Some bargains. Excellent food shop, and coffee house/cafe
C. W.
Not as much choice of gluten free in the cafe but still some. Plenty seating available also. The food hall is always well stocked with a wide variety of products . The staff are very polite and professional.
S.
Very fancy place. Great food at the little cafe and great selection of chocolates and gifts. Can't wait to go back.
L. P.
Enjoyable day out shopping, styles to suit all ages. Food Hall is excellent, staff a mix of friendly and stand offish. Looking forward to next visit
H. B.
Enjoyed a delicious lunch and break from our snowy journey!
J. D.
Lovely place to visit. Wide variety of clothes and food. Worth a visit.
S. &.
Lovely place to stop, to break up a long journey. Expensive but exceptional quality. Not fab to get around with my limited mobility.
N. M.
Has a beautiful indoor and conservatory café with heaters in winter. Soup was nice.
Staff was spraying tables all around us while we were eating, when they could try to avoid us in the empty conservatory, bit annoying having soap sprayed right near your soup...
T. D.
Great experience stopping at here at The house of Bruer. Great shopping and a good restaurant. Even the carpark and grounds are spotless. Staff are really helpful.A quality place.
G. S.
We went here to walk the bruar route and dropped by the shopping area on the way. This is what we think about when we talk about shopping in the UK. Local specialties, high quality products and just so beautiful presentation. The butcher looked so good. Next time we'll get a stay with cooking facilities. 😊 …
J. M.
Lovely atmosphere and great selection of luxury food and clothing.
J. O.
What an amazing place. The staff were incredibly polite, knowledgeable about their products and helpful. A great find and a mist to visit.
M. D.
Great shops with a huge diversity of items. The food is fantastic. The lamb shank is amazing!
M. J.
Always has lovely things - fashionwear, home goods and food items. Fish and chips were delicious!
B. W.
Great place to visit and to eat. Lovely things to buy if you have a fat wallet!
K. F.
Great shop and a perfect half way coffee stop from the NW Highlands.
W. D.
Amazing place which just goes from strength to strength.
Great range of clothing, fishing gear and s food hall to die for.
Lost a star for overpricing
P. M.
Great stop on the A9 for a rest break and top notch food.
The fresh fruit sold outside the front door is super quality and the butcher's department sells the best sausages and burgers you can get.
c. v. h.
Very big, neat and well orginazed place. Everything from clothes to food for sale. Beautiful waterfall.
S. L.
Great food and service a nice stop off on our way to Glasgow
J. K.
This is the top spot on the A9, gravity plays a big part, huge car park, huge restaurant, huge food hall, huge shopping area selling a huge range of goods. So huge crowds visit it. Despite all that there are plenty of staff to deal with it all and generally they cope very well under pressure. I personally look for Scottish food to buy and there is plenty of choice but it is mixed with other suppliers. Adele bought a puffin doorstop so you never know what might take your eye here.
K. Y.
Omg theres every single sort of good food, drink sweets and clothes etc here. Theres also a nice walk up to the waterfalls from the car park
B. A.
As a man who doesn't like shopping. Cafe good 👍.
Surrounding great …
S. C.
Hi ..stopped at Bruar on our way south today. The food we had was tasty but lukewarm which was a pity. Busy place.
S.
Nice store to look round. Most items are very expensive but good to see what’s out there to buy.
Has a large fishing accessory area, lots of clothing, food and other items.
Cafe looks large with a big outdoor area but I didn’t attend to review it.
Would go back….. for a look around.
B. E.
Amazing place, one of our favourites of living in the Highlands
J.
Always enjoy a stop off at Brure. HOWEVER, today was eggseptuonally busy and they had NO SANDWICHES (shocked face emoji). Enjoyed a HAM AND 🧀 coozon though and a nice coffy. Will be back (smiley emoji). …
Y. J.
Always a good place to stop for a drink, a munch, a wee boggle...always think the ladies loos could do with smelling fresher though.
R. M.
Great choice and variety of products from clothing home decor & food wines and spirits beautiful place some items very expensive
G. S.
As an avid golfer I was very disappointed they don't cater for golfers however if you're looking to find the latest shooting or fishing attire this is the place for you!
R. U.
Very nice, a lively clean and well set out place. Prices to match for a good garden centre
T. T.
I enjoyed seeing all the different cheeses and clothes but it isn't a place that I'd want to visit again. Some things that you can buy for a cheaper price elsewhere, you need to sell a kidney for here. Nice for an experience, but not bothered if I don't ever visit again.
M. B.
Great gift ideas. Variation in prices. Things for everyone. Great place to stop amongst fantastic scenery. The food hall was amazing.
J. L.
Last visited here back in the late 90s, wow what a transformation, such a vast array of departments to cater for all, will definitely call again 👍 …
M. W.
Beautiful place to visit. Lovely Christmas display. Great place to stop on the way to Inverness
M. D.
High quality Scottish products in very pleasant surroundings. Be prepared to spend time viewing this unique experience. Really worth driving to this outlet. Restaurant cafes and spacious parking.
D. C.
Posh food and clothing. Good stopover going up A9. More expensive than service stations but the food we bought was really good.
D. R.
Went to House of Bruar last Saturday. Bought some bath oil and when I got home discovered the bottle was empty within the box. Called them that day and spoke to a supervisor who was very helpful. Took all the details and said someone would call me during the week. No phone call but a new bottle arrived in the lost today. Excellent service and this is a company who clearly value their customers. They couldn't have dealt with this better.
M. S.
We have been referred that this:is the place to buy Scottish garments. Except for Cashmere the selection was rather little and disappointing. The food stalls or other special shops seemed more like supermarket products for coach tours. We have seen smaller but much more authentic shops.
C. S.
Love this place, great range of clothes, foods, beverages to take home. Also indoor/outdoor cafe/restaurant, chippy and ice cream. You can also takeaway for picnic at your car. Plenty of walking and cycling nearby and stop for some lunch on the way back. Still good April 22, back in Aug 22, getting better.
M. L.
Before I moved to Scotland I enjoyed stopping here on my way up to Inverness. Now that I live here most times that I am on the A9 going to the Central Belt or coming home to Inverness I will make a stop. It is a perfect stop in between Perth and Inverness.
Loads of different shopping. The prices are higher than normal, but the quality is wonderful and worth it. Keepsakes that will last forever. They do have a sale building which is always worth a walk through. If you do not buy anything it is lovely to have a wander. There is a nice area in the ladies section with a big fire for the men to relax.
The food selection is lovely. If you love meats, cheeses, a good butcher, teas, sweets, etc. then definitely worth a stop.
The food hall is wonderful as well. Good food in a lovely setting.
They have a dog area that is covered if you have your fur-iend in the car with you.
c. 1.
Luxury and unusual items including clothing, nice cafe. It is quite spread out and on several levels.
J. W.
The restaurant food is amazing. Have been here a few times now and it has always exceeded my expectations. Seems a bit pricey maybe but the quantity more than makes up for it. I'm not one for quality over quantity but this place delivers on both.
E. L.
A massive complex of Scottish fashion and decor. Very fun to walk around and do some shopping - perfect for gifts and luxury items. I do also recommend the fish & chips in the cafe outside.
D. R.
Expensive food and cafe crowded. Customer service in cafe severely lacking. Car parking for disabled is minimal with quite a distance to walk to the shops. Nice selection of toy guns some made of metal that you just don't see on shops anymore.
S. S.
The food seemed a bit overpriced, but tasty enough. More staff could be put on at busy times at the cafe checkouts as people are queuing with hot food which might not be so hot when they finally get to a table. Having said that the girl at our checkout did a good job, making coffee whilst ringing through people's trays of food. In general, it's a nice place to wander through.
E. S.
Love my annual visit and always find different goodies to buy snd staff lovely 😍 …
j. N.
Very good place for food and drinks. Drink chocolate and coffee .would back to shopping and staff very friendly
s.
A delight to stop into, even if you don't buy anything it's nice to look at everything. There's everything from garden, art, jewelry, pet range, whisky, clothing. It even has a good range of food as well. Stop in as you won't be disappointed
C. M.
Stopped for a coffee on the way to Inverness. Coffee was overly strong and prices in the shops were way too high. Very busy for a weekday morning too.
F. M.
Lovely cakes, expensive though, coffee a bit cool, had to rush it to enjoy
D. B.
Fantastic place. I would quite happily move in to the fishing department. Beautiful place. The cafeteria is also a stunning place to have a cup of tea and a scone!
A. E.
Very nice place, lots of choices, have a very good selection, lunch was very nice 👍 …
N. J.
I was sent the autumn catalogue and tried to order a tweed overshirt only to find out it was out of stock until October!?!?!? Very disappointing.
C. R.
Lovely place, but expensive. The sale shop definitely worth a look. Loos always busy. Antique shop something special.
H. M.
Lots of choice. Check out the sale shop before buying in the main bit as they have similar if not the same bits for sale there for cheaper.
C. T.
Huge retail outlet with masses of Scottish gifts, clothes, pet accessories, kitchen equipment, ornaments, furnishings, toys etc. Particularly good selection of jewellery. Sale outlet section too. Cafe looked good but we didn’t eat there so can’t review food. Some items somewhat pricey but bargains to be had too. Nicely uncluttered feel in spite of range and volume of goods.
t. m.
Always a nice experience when passing here. Always pop in. Friendly staff and great customer service
T. a. E.
This is a lovely place to stop for unique shopping, nice food & a wee break :)
H. M.
Gosh this is posh ain't it? Nice decor and a selection of beautiful things that I could buy if I had a lot more money. Also the cake is good and reasonably priced. Stick to the cake, folks.
4. a.
The best of Scotland in one place: food, souvenirs and of course a Whiskey shop / museum
L. M.
Nice place to visit - always a bottle neck, however around entrance to restaurant.
L. A.
I bought from the online store about two years ago and the quality of the blazer/it's fit was absolutely top notch. Absolutely worth every penny.
HOWEVER, the online service is atrocious, slow and inefficient. I decided to order again from the store over a week ago and the payment system gave me hell. I finally managed to get the payment through, but received no confirmation.I followed up to ask for a confirmation both through the online chat system and email... no response. I followed up again... no response.
I am giving them a day after which I am cancelling the payment. Excellent quality but frankly not worth the terrible hassle online...
UPDATE
Within a day of this review I was contacted by customer service. They gave me an update and exact time for order dispatch. They kept their word and dispatched on the time specified. The clothes arrived and as expected the quality was too notch. I just wish that the online service was just a bit better and faster because the gift arrived two weeks after my wife's birthday even though I had ordered it well in advance.

It's OK for a browse, plenty of clothes shops if your looking for country attire. Expensive taste catered for, less so for a bargain. Great restaurant and fresh produce shop, with butchery dept. Exceptionally clean. Great parking. Just off A9.
L. A.
Wonderful seller and great customer care.
Purchased a navy blue full length virgin cashmere men's coat yesterday.
Arrived by courier this morning.
Coat fits perfectly and lovely cashmere. Hidden buttons are a plus.
Thank you again House of Bruar
D. J.
Love this place. Middle of nowhere in the Scottish Highlands its got a fabulous selection of goods for sale from traditional Scots fare to jams and chutneys olive oil herbs and spices ,whisky of course.
Bit expensive but if you are holiday you don't mind spending that bit more for a treat.
Food in the Cafe is tasty with decent portions but again not cheap.
Well worth a look of only once.
E. B.
A perfect midway point on the journey. But watch, it closes at 5pm on the Winter.
k. h.
A fabulous place for shopping and eating! The Sunday carvery was delicious. Lot's of lovely clothes, gifts and food shopping
j. f.
Great place to stop at . Toilets always clean and tidy. Food is very good.
G. M.
Very busy at this time of year but staff generally cope well. Not the cheapest place to visit. Food was excellent.
K. L.
Most fun ive had as Dad on holiday in Aviemore, get kifs there will not be disapointed 5 start visit.👍👍👍👍👍 …
E. J.
Beautiful stop off on any journey north or south with beautiful scenery. The cafe is good as is the chip shop. Products are lovely and the toilets are always kept clean
b. p.
Beautiful place but a bit pricey nice chippy good food
D. W.
Too much to see in one visit. Not often do you come across a fish and chip shop serving lobster and chips!
J. S.
Great selection available. Nice staff.
D. Z.
Cool looking place. Just had to give props to these guys after reading the review below complaining for getting kicked out with a dog. And no tour buses allowed either so you can actually relax here in somewhat peace and quiet.
S. “. S.
I overheard a shopper say "It's just like a really posh hotel inside"
I would agree with that and add the helpful staff and beautiful Highland setting make this a must visit experience.
M. “. M.
Popped in as I had forgotten to bring a jacket on our trip north. Managed to find something in the sale that suited my needs. Very pleasant lady on till duty. Good to see it so busy, lots of people eating and shopping 👍 …
T. B.
Good place for fancy elaborate shopping experience in Bruar!
Good cafe too 👍 …
A. B.
Everytime we venture up and down the A9 near Pitlochry we always love stopping at Bruar, food in the restaurant is great whether tou want a meal or a cake.
The shop is a great wander too, I love wandering through the butcher section, great choice of venison in season.
And also the clothing shop too, brings me great interest browsing all of the different brands of shooting gear
C.
Great wee stop to experience a very unique Scottish shopping experience. Food halls, tartan and Lobster and Chips. Great place to venture up to see Bruar Falls too
F. A.
Great place to look round, bit too expensive for us in places! Loved the antique desks but hubby refused to pay £2000 for one lol. All staff are very pleasent and friendly. Enjoyed a cake and drink x
B. D.
Lovely place to stop for shopping and resturant. Shop in bathroom very harsh, would be added touch if there was also hand lotion dispenser
L.
Beautiful place.....There is something inside for everyone......we loved the walk up to Bruar Falls.
J. a. V.
Did a quick visit as we were staying in pitlochry for a couple of days, yeah it's ok to have a browse and check out what the attraction is about this place! Well I suppose if your a tourist from afar then it might tickle your fancy but it's a meh from me as it's over priced and I actually struggled to find anything I'd buy.
C. W.
Very popular stopping place on A9 North of Blair Atholl. Rather too many shoppers in too much of a hurry too close to Christmas to make it a pleasant experience but lots of parking and an incredible range of goods on offer particular in the Food Hall/Delivery.
Cafe and toilets welcome.
J. D.
Always enjoy visiting the House of Bruar, a very quintessential country clothes emporium. Also a great stop to or from Inverness and Glasgow for food.
Also if you have some extra time, take a wee walk to see the falls.
C.
Great place to stop, friendly staff, with a great range of products.
One of the few places I can think of that has truly great customer service.
Fish and chips is great quality and worth the stop just for that.
W. A.
Nice place to stop but very expensive and mediocre cakes. Fabulous glass roofed eating area. Update from visit on 11 October 2018. Still great place to stop. Glass roofed eating area great. Good coffee but baking ( scones) still disappointing.
Update January 2023. Excellent coffees - Flat White and Americano. Really cosy under the radiant heaters in the glass covered sitting area. Disappointing that HoB do not give any reduction for using our own reusable eco cups. Other cafes give 15 to 50p discount for their use. Also, having paid full price, there were no mini biscuits (as put on saucers) with the coffees in eco cups. Maybe something for HoB to consider.
D. I.
Excellent facilities. Lots of nice shops. A great experience.
S. H.
Lives up to its name as the 'Harrods of the North'. Lots of Scots-themed clothing and food at prices that you might need to remortgage your castle to afford. Excellent cafe/restaurant with possibly the poshest toilets outside Balmoral. Recommend going in uniform (if you're in the Armed Forces or RAF) as I was offered a free coffee last time. A great stopping point on the long run up the A9 to the far north.
J. B.
This is a lovely place to stop for food and refreshment, with great shops and plenty of parking. Very friendly and helpful staff. There's space to let the dogs have a chance to stretch their legs too.
S. B.
Definitely worth a visit plenty of free parking. Special parking for people with dogs indoor and outdoor areas. Great gift and homeware selection. Quite exclusive and expensive but they have some lovely things the food/alcohol section is huge you could spend hours in there!.
J. T.
What a truly memorable experience. We stopped for scones and coffee, both were first class. Facilities clean. Staff friendly and helpful.
C. T.
Very pleased with recent purchase of my Rabbit Shirt. Lovely soft material, washes well. Beautifully packaged, like a shirt should be, and was delivered very promptly after ordering. It's a shame I live in South Wales or I'd be browsing your shop every day!! Online is OK but better in person I always think.
C. H.
A unique experience in many ways. Everything you need under one roof-so to speak. A great respite to break up a long journey. Coffee and cake went down a treat.
L. W.
Beautiful variety of goods in every department, very friendly and polite staff. We had 2 coffee and muffins the muffins were dry as sticks very disappointed £14.50 for a snack we did not enjoy.
Q. S.
We got what we came for, but it was very busy even at 09:30. Prices are at the level you would expect for a premium outlet. Make sure that your bank balance is up to a visit, you can't help spending on so much nice everything. The only downside is trying to get northbound at the A9 junction, take great care, southbound is fine.
M. B.
We visited the House of Bruar last Sunday there was 4 of us We went to have lunch and were very disappointed The food was cold and the beef was tough We ordered a coffee and that was cold as well We wouldn't go back for something to eat again
D. G.
Went to the sale on Friday (12/12/21) so a very busy day. From the staff in the car park & food hall to all staff I met across the site without exception everyone was helpful, motivated and happy and made our visit a great day out. Well done a lesson to other retailers👏🏻👏🏻 …
J. J.
Good place for a break. whilst driving north, good food , ample parking places.
J. K.
Beautiful place...amazing ambience..it too has a restaurant and the restrooms .there is so much to eat over here!! Chocolates, cakes, soups, full meal...it was cold dere but the place was heated up with heaters and all...so the place was warm...while returning back from Inverness it came on our way..
S. L.
If you're heading up the A9, you have to stop off here for a wee pitstop. It's like a local institution! Plenty of great quality local food to buy and enjoy (the local berries are amazing!). The food hall is a absolute delight with a great selection of fish, cheeses, meats and drinks as well as plenty of sweet treats. The restaurant is OK but I'd highly advise checking out the fish and chip hut just at the entrance - it's worth the trip alone!
J. A.
I purchased a lovely coat last year, expensive, but delighted. Then I sent for 2 more a while ago, they came one was much paler than the photo and the other looked cheap. They went back, I phoned to see after a week to see if they had received my parcel, £20 to send back ! They said no not received! So I tracked it and it indicated the parcel was with them the day after posted! Emailed them, no joy. Emailed again got someone else and she found it. I'd spent alot of money, so watch their despatch dept! got my refund back and to top it all I got hacked tracking the parcel im not sure if I want to use them again! A total nightmare!
J. W.
Had not been there for a while.
Suits all ages and prices are good
Great variety. Went during week when quieter.
P. J.
£3.75 for a basic, push button coffee… not a whiff of a barista in sight. A real shame for such a prestigious venue.
A. M.
Expensive and posh. Good quality stuff. Food is avarage. Good service. A lot of parking space. Nice 45minutes walk to Falls of Bruar nearby.
Overall worth to visit.
U. S.
Posh and pleasant place. Food choices are very good, separate cafe for after meal drink. Excellent seating area available for eat in. Marketplace has very good range of packaged food, drinks selection and butchery. Impressed with their merchandising throughout the place. Comfortable size of parking space available.
P. A. K. L.
Very friendly staff who was very helpful when I was buying a tweed jacket.
T. C.
Masses of choices in the food shop, with some unusual and some expensive options.
Reasonable selection of sandwiches and cakes prior to the main lunch service.
Plenty or seating inside and under cover.
Not too busy.
Very extensive clothing areas for men and women. Some expensive, but again, unusual.
Friendly helpful staff.
Sanitisers at every entrance.
T. M.
Excellent place to shop plenty choose and staff very helpfull
C. P.
Fab place to stop on the A9. Great breakfast and lovely good quality shops
D. P.
Great online experience, I lost the balls to a bagatelle set. Sent replacements FOC. Thank you
S. W.
Amazing place..so much to look at. Amazing food hall. Lovely fish and chips
N.
Huge retail place with a lovely food hall and restaurant.
V. A.
Yeah it's good to look around. Very pricey though. Had the mixed vegetable soup with an enormous hunk of bread. That was good.
P.
Still a great place to buy all things Highland related. Far from cheap but very high quality. Has a great cafe as well. Bruar Falls is a short walk up the track next to the car park. Always a great place to load up with luxury foods to take home.
J. G.
Great service from the team and professional services all at exsalant pricees
B. H.
Excellent location to visit when travelling from Inverness. Enjoyed a very tasty home cooked meal at lunch time - good value for lovely food ingredients. Shops also worth exploring.
S. D.
We stopped for breakfast it's not cheap but very generous with the bacon on the roll. For the price you should get a decent bread roll and a choice of white or brown.
G. D.
Very pleasant but slightly clueless staff. Amazing selection of country focussed clothing. I have bought stuff in the past and always been satisfied, just be aware that prices are a touch high. Stopped off recently, The clueless staff were men's department and I was trying to buy a pair of shoes. It was comedically shambolic. Twice I was told they didn't have them in my size, once I was told they actually did. Then one guy said he was going to bring examples of what they did actually have in my size. He then vanished into another dimension. So I bought some smoked trout and anchovy paste. Safe to say that was easier.
D. O.
Loads of parking some interesting shops a tad expensive but you get what you pay for
T. V.
Very nice place for families with kids, plenty of green spaces and a lot of to do like cycling, archery, climbing, etc. The owner, family and staff are very friendly and helpful, trying to make your stay the best experience possible. The hotel is simple, but very clean and tidy. Full of charming. Just remember to take a insect repellent.
L. S.
Always busy. Tasty food in the restaurant. Everything they sell is nice. Although their own brand, is not so good. Expensive.
B. D.
Very nice place, wonderful selection of foodstuffs . Expensive but a nice treat. Could spend a fortune Here!!!
J. N.
What a great place, we spent a long time here and it passed so quickly.
M. R.
Lovely place. Food is Great. Very friendly staff. Worth going
P. R.
High end clothing. Mid range fine foods. Excellent fish and chips. Very nice walk up the Falls of Bruar. Good stop point.
A. K.
This a beautiful location and lovely place to visit . But prices are way too high for the working class. It's a great place to spend some time to see the beautiful displays . Need to sort social distances in the toilets thou it was like a fair and no social space at all. Lovely fishing shop too superb quality .
S. C.
Expensive, but nice clean toilets. Good spot for a stop off.
C. C.
Weird place with high quality goods aimed at the upper classes whilst at the same time having an enclosed eating area with sparrows flying around and you have to dodge getting birdpoo in your food. Also please put prices on the restaurant food and clearly label it, having to turn sandwiches over to see what the ingredients and flavours are is a nuisance.
K. M.
Nice place to shop if you have a large wallet. Some very nice items for sale and some nice artwork for sale but not in my budget. The restaurant is was average, but as other people have commented, there is no social distancing.
J. H.
I love the products and the shop when I go on holiday. It’s one of the few places that sells quality.
However I ordered a coat on line recently and paid to send it back first class . I requested a replacement cost which I chose and filled in the details. That was a week ago and still haven’t had the replacement. I rang customer service who informed me it can take over a week to process.
C. C.
Great place to stop on your way north or south through the highlands of Scotland. Some very high quality shops and good places to eat. Very busy at this time of year but they are all well organised and deliver a great service. A nice fish and chip shop as well !!!
M. S.
Lovely place to stop on the A9 although can be really busy. Good choice of products in the shop and nice, decently priced fish and chip shop. Toilets always clean and spotless.
R. W.
Always stop and get fish and chips before a quick look around when passing. Even has a dedicated covered car park spot for people with dogs.
W. I.
Very busy but easily spend a couple of hours there plenty shops and places to eat
J. C.
The prices a pretty high end but there is a huge range of stuff here
B. L.
A little bit Touristy and a little bit expensive really, but all in all a good place to stop for a rest and have a look around as your heading up the A9. They have a nice restaurant which is worth a go, food is nice. It would be 5 star if there prices were a little lower
c. t.
Busy wee place, stopped of as we were bursting for the toilet and the step daughter feels the need to spend money as soon as she sees a shop. Anyway, the ice cream was fantastic as was lunch (a bit overpriced but still it was good) butchers hall us a definite must visit, and definitely buy some meat from here, great quality.
Also wandered into the menswear building and it seemed like I had just found the father in law's entire wardrobe lol
A. D.
Delicious vegetable soup! Staff were so friendly and made our visit as enjoyable as always. Ignore the negative reviews. Also, came away with amazing cashmere bargains...thank you HOB.
J. G.
It very good shopping center there are different shop sell different things and all look like unique i love this place and want to go again everything is good and presentation.
K. D.
Every year I visit Scotland and every year I always visit The House of Bruar. I love the walk up to Bruar falls - it is quite steep in places but the view is worth it.
The cafe and food is always good. It’s great for having a nosey around the food hall.
There is plenty of parking and the car park is free.
Great day out.
J. B.
Buffet hall steak pie huge portion but meat needed longer cooking and flavour not good
S. M.
I visit here mainly for the food, foie gras, pheasant and quails eggs are all highly recommended. The staff are friendly and helpful and the view stunning.
r. y.
Very busy, expensive, however excellent quality clothing, recommend the outlet.
S. P.
Best place to shop for groceries I've ever seen ANYWHERE!
W. B.
Lovely sitting at the outdoor seating area with our dog in the sunshine. However, felt sorry for the 2 members of staff at the takeaway coffee counter as there was a constant long queue and people were going away due to the slow service. Also, disappointed that the beautiful homemade scones that used to be sold here have be replaced by rather heavy dry version.
A. B.
Pricey but worth the wander round the plethora of 'departments'. Great forest walks to waterfalls, and the friendly squirrels.
Breakfast very good, albeit £14.95, if you are a meat-eater with local butchers fayre and free-range eggs. Hash brown a let down, get local bakers tattie scones!
K. H.
Nice area for a pit stop and some good souvineers. Brace for high food prices at the restaurant but a good selection of goods
s. c.
Quality food a bit expensive made for high class people but worth it
G. H.
Nice location. Food was good & service excellent.
A. M.
We stopped off for some lunch. The food was great, particularly the cream of vegetable soup. The shop was full of lovely bits and toilets really nice.
We also walked up the falls but it was absolutely pouring with rain so we are soaked through but the walk had great views but was a little steep at times for less experienced walkers.
J. M.
A very welcome break while travelling up and down the A9. The lunchtime service is amazing and most importantly they sell Macsween Haggis and Vegetarian Haggis #ScotlandsMostLovedHaggis #ScotlandsMostLovedVegetarianHaggis
T. l.
One of the best shopping experiences I've had. Spent a whole day there. Honestly its a must. Had lobster and chips for lunch! There is also a lovely walk up Bruar falls to finish off the day.
J. j.
This is a great shopping experience pricy but first class products and restaurant
P. G.
Extremely busy right now. But excellent pit stop on A9. Food good but pricey. Food hall has wide range of cheeses, pies, bread and much much more. Lovely sheltered courtyard used as restaurant. Clean toilets
J. M.
Visited on a busy hot sunny day. Was delighted to find a dedicated shaded parking area for drivers with dogs in the car. There was also a handy tap and concrete water bowl between each spacious bay. A suggestion would be to extend the area as there were a lot of others with dogs in cars looking for a bit of shade with no luck.
N. M.
This store is GORGEOUS. Whoever is in charge of the merchandising and display design is amazing. It has an interesting selection of unique, high end products. Definitely a place I would recommend if you are looking for a Scottish/Highland themed gift this is a lovely place to go!
C. C.
It's just the cutest place. There isn't a hell of a lot to do apart from look around but what you're looking at is nice.. Lots of variety, from so much food to home decor. Also, how can I forget the restaurant. Super expensive but really really nice so I have no regrets spending £13 on a small plate of macaroni cheese. If your pretty wealthy, I think you'll enjoy it. But if you're not, like me, it's still a lovely place to explore.
P. M.
Useful stop on the A9 for the toilet due to lack of other facilities elsewhere. The shops are surprisingly busy considering how expensive they are. Only every stopped during business hours, so I don't know if there's a convenience open outside of that
J. M.
Bit overpriced and bit overcrowded for me, especially in the current climate. There didn't seem to be much distancing enforcement from staff, and we did our best to leave as quickly as possible. Morning rolls were good though! Good breakfast stop.
A. D.
Lovely place, food was great and a nice pit stop on the way down
E. H.
I had the steak pie, roast potatoes n lots of veg. My wife had Haddock mornay both lovely n big portions. I had a juice n wife had a flat white. A fair price at £38.50
A. H.
Return visit after a few years. Large car /bus parking areas. Large ladies/gents country clothing areas, some items very expensive, some not. Also has a specialist food hall, kitchen/household/ fancy items, and a fishing equipment area. All the staff are smartly dressed so easily recognised. A conservatory, restaurant and fish and chip shop. Noticed a Sale area at top of car park but didn't visit. Very popular, worth a visit, if just for a wander around
L. W.
Very busy on a sale day but very friendly staff. Spent far too much!
J. R.
Good food hall but shipping want to my taste, great starting place for a walk up to the falls of briar. Whisky Shop and Clean Museum was interesting with the staff showing some excellent knowledge of the whiskey on offer
W. Q.
Impressive array of shops and excellent food. Expensive designer shop but many different brands to choose from . Great eating area especially in covid times. Felt very safe due to spaces between tables and ventilation.
R. W.
An awesome walk to the falls followed by a superb lobster lunch and some shopping. Spent a great 3 hours with the family and dog.
p. b.
Big place with a huge choice of higher end products with food, clothes and furniture included.
Plenty parking,cafe, clean toilets etc.
Worth a visit.
R. H.
We stopped here for a cuppa and we're quite surprised by the size of the place , they seem to sell a vast assortment of goods from food to clothing and nearly everything in between but thought the best bit was the walk up to the waterfall which was quite a hike uphill but we'll worth it 👌 …
