After a very bad experience in John Lewis last year I never thought I’d be now writing this very positive review. We visited John Lewis late last year to try and resolve an ongoing issue with our curtain order. We were initially served by a very rude lady who wasn’t willing to help us at all (not the service you expect from John Lewis). We remarked to a younger member of staff as we were leaving the store about our awful experience. The younger lady named Holly couldn’t have been more helpful. Holly was not only very apologetic but then looked into the issue and dealt with it in a speedy and efficient manner. We visited John Lewis again last week with our daughter to purchase a pushchair ready for our first grandchild to be born in June. We were delighted to be served by Holly again. Holly’s product knowledge, professionalism and customer service was impeccable. Nothing was too much too ask and she dealt with our very nervous, anxious daughter brilliantly filling her with confidence and reassurance. No pushy sales and trying to sell us the most expensive items. Instead she took the time to listen to our daughters needs and patiently showed us through the ranges and gave us such articulate information. We hope this will find its way back to Holly in Ipswich. Thank you for completely changing our opinion of John Lewis! What was once a letter of complaint will now be a letter full of praise and thanks - a credit to John Lewis.

Cannot fault the nursery team (Bryan and his trainee)! Very knowledgeable and made us feel so much more at ease, especially as first time mum. They were not pressuring, super welcoming and gave fantastic personalised, realistic advice. I’ve walked away with a very positive view of John Lewis! Will definitely continue to pop back in as my little one grows. The lady on the checkout was very friendly and polite as well. Brilliant team!

Varied selection of various goods and household items of the middle to lower upper range (quality). The range of items is reasonably broad yet not that large overall (try the web site for a fuller range). Electronics fair, kitchen and homewares good/more than reasonable, white goods fair, home furniture /furnishings fair to good. Always happy to pop in and browse, although the prices are slightly more than what I would like to pay, but it is John Lewis and you pay their price for the quality of the items. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Went to exchange an item yesterday, very polite. Walked around the store and saw a kitchen table and chairs that we liked. The help that Mike and Jamie gave to us was second to none. We took the chairs (beautifully wrapped in bubble wrap) for us to take home and the table was ordered for us there and then. Will definately come from Colchester to shop here again. Thank you.

A good store to look at some of the new technology or to find home / leisure items. The prices can sometimes be a little steeper than other stores but usually the products are of good quality. The store staff and even the security staff are always very friendly and helpful.

Although some of the prices are a little higher than more standard department stores, they are of a high standard. There is always a variety of prices and goods. The staff are (4/5) really helpful and will try and find the answers to any questions you have. For gadget lovers, the range of smart tech you can play with is excellent, and you get a real chance to touch and play with the technology.

Bought a little spider robot in Cambridge that did not work; examining it closely showed it to be an apparently left over toy from the stack with the batteries so old they had swollen. The day after we got much help from the staff in another store in Ipswich, which provided us with new batteries free of charge. It's still not working but the staff showed good spirit in trying to help us out. That's why I weighed it to earn four stars. Otherwise I'm not fully content with the product from this store. The store itself looks otherwise to be stuffed with good quality products for reasonable prices.

It’s my local John Lewis, it’s alright. Could do with a massive upgrade on the store or even expanding it to a bigger one. Purchased many electrical goods from here such as iPhones, iPads, printers & etc, however the service received from the electrical department wasn’t always the greatest. Some of the staff could really benefit from some training in communicating with customers. I asked one of the staff members a question regarding the John Lewis extended warranty on an iPhone and he just starred at me like as if He had no clue and I had just asked him something I shouldn’t?

Although John Lewis is still our go to place for food and homeware it's definitely gone downhill these days, I've complained about the Ipswich store before, for some reason lots of items were missing their prices, I've complained about this before, still the same today, a member of staff was chatting to a friend for the 20 minutes we were trying to get assistance, and when we went for a coffee lots of tables weren't cleared. We still love John Lewis but that love is increasingly stretched.

A relatively new John Lewis, the store has a great selection of homewares, tableware & glasses and plenty of smaller items for every season. Upstairs is a cafe that is *very* busy on a Sunday morning. A large electrical section has a wide variety of TVs to choose from, plus the latest Apple and Microsoft kit.

called in to buy a tv sound bar. was talked through various options for my needs and shown choices. was not given a sales pitch but was helpfully talked through pro and cons for two samsung products, I was also guided through connections set up and functions all without being forced rushed or talked above. Absolutely love this store. Shopping at Waitrose and then browsing in John Lewis is a nice Sunday afternoon activity when there's nothing else to do in Ipswich. Decent sized car park and the site is opposite a Costa and some other stores. Staff are lovely, as you'd expect from JLPartnersip. Often some reasonable value sale items available in both Waitrose and JL.
