Reviews of The Range, York
M. B.
I went to the Range in July and it was an interesting visit once I was able to find my way into the store as it’s very confusing to newcomers as I went in through the exit door and was turned away I think a better signposting indicating the entrance would be useful too
. I saw that the store was packed with. Lots. Of items and also had an Iceland in the same building which is nice to know and is a one stop shop .
Plenty of parking spaces available too so no problem once you get there .
M. C.
Went here for some lighting. Quite nice variety but all quite modern. Did buy two eventually. The 'here to help' gentleman I had ask was so good and helpful. The cafe was difficult to find and not very exciting, toasted sandwich only seemed toasted one side. Disabled parking near the door moving stairs or v small lift just took me in a small scooter 😅.
J. W.
Great experience here yesterday. We were looking for some bean bag beans, and after spending a while looking, a lady asked if we needed help because she saw us looking and looking. It wasnt her department to search through but that never stopped her, even after we gave up looking, we walked past her later and she was still looking bless her. Great experience despite not finding what we was looking for.

Well I just really went to The Range as with it looking like a Warehouse I made assumptions they would have a massive Range of many many items was sort of disappointed with there very small range of men's slippers but did sort of wanted a particular type of slipper and so after I did talk and managed too get an email sent too B&M and did receive a email back with words of apologies I did go back and did find what Father required the heated slippers.
Did also make enquiries too get the Peppermint Oil capsules but none was available at the time I did find taking that journey not very helpful when asking many Colleague staff members and found this surprising with such a massive space what I could say is Iceland Foods it is great too know they are in The Range Store.
J. R.
Great shop with a good range (excuse the pun...!!) of goods, however it was quite unbearable with no air con - which one staff member stated had been broken for 15 years....!! Come on Range bosses - get this fixed to benefit both staff and customers ...!!
B. L.
Great choice of products. Staff are always helpful. I come here often for little bits I need around the house and always leave the store with what I need. They sell a range of items including homeware, furniture, DIY and pet essentials. They stock a large variety of beauty products as well including shampoos and other bits and bobs which I find to be a lot cheaper than other stores such as ASDA or Sainsbury’s. There’s lots of soaps and cleaning products too so there’s something for everyone. I’ve given 4 stars as the only downside is that I find the store to be extremely warm every time I come, meaning I prefer to get my shopping done quickly rather than browsing for a while. I think a better air conditioning unit would benefit the store greatly.
L. H.
The place is huge, a vast array of items sold. The only negative is the till area is under glass and after a long walk arround the store standing in the queue in blistering heat nearly finished me off.
K. K.
Everything looks lovely. We met Daniel who was so helpful in providing us help and information. Highly recommended
P. B.
Never fail to get a bargin here, grandson has been wanting a good A4 art pad/book.
Got an A3 & A4 for less than £8
I. H.
Why leave display prices for 15 days, after alteration. Fish tank @ £65, no, £95, cos label was wrong!
K. G.
Great place for loads of things for the house, art's and crafts, household items and Iceland is also in store
J. S.
I love the variety at the Range but today its only 3 stars due to it being so hot in the store it was a nightmare to shop and only having one member on the till with a long line growing
M. A.
Not bad. They have most of the home requirements. I couldn't find a heater
g. h.
Good selection of craft materials ,very good value punnet of plants.
Vast variety of average other goods at average prices something for everyone.
L. K.
Lovely clean shop with fabulous merchandise....this shop deserves to be in the hub of a major shopping retail park where everyone cannot miss it and benefit by its position.
K. F.
Just a good shop friendly staff. Simple as that! ☺
K. T.
The shop has a massive selection of all sorts of products from gardening to arts and crafts. Unfortunately the staff aren't very helpful and aren't well informed. We've asked a lad what was the price of a little bike on display and he's said he had no idea and must have been the last one just on display then went back over to the shelf he was restocking. When I started looking around to see if it was the last one I've found them all on the shelf next to him. Also people at the tills come across like they just don't want to be there. No hello, no thanks not even who's next if you don't see them standing there not serving oh well your loss that seems to be the mentality unfortunately.
A. L.
Good range of stock looking for craft stuff. Had what I needed. Large carpark.
S. P.
Great view of the lakes from Barrow. What a beach
A. S.
First time we have visited since pre covid. Sadly few people wearing masks, we were and felt uncomfortable, we are vulnerable although it doesn't show!!
On the plus side the store has improved, couldn't find the garden mirrors we were looking for.
L. P.
Over here you can find almost everything you need, very tidy, clean, organised and fully restocked
C.
Bought an ex display wardrobe from here and despite calling the furniture department 1 day prior to confirm it would be picked up on Saturday, none of the staff who were present were given any form of communication to let them know where it was and what pieces or even that would be picked up. Despite this the lady working on customer service desk was very understanding and put me at ease with everything. The two people got the pieces and helped fit it in the car, Joe and Martin were very careful handling it and we all struggled but managed to get it in thanks to them! They made sure all the pieces were definitely there and were also friendly and very good with customer communication. All in all very happy with purchase and customer service (on shop floor) however for their sake I feel they could of been better informed from the furniture department.
B.
Massive range of household, hiking, and seasonal goods (Xmas etc). Friendly helpful staff. Nice relaxing coffee lounge. The cornish pasty was superb. If you can't find what you want at 'The Range' you won't find it anywhere.
R. C.
Went to the range tonight and bought some knopper wafers shame the staff don't check the sellby dates as they were a month out of date
S. C. W.
An enormous ‘ range’ of budget picture frames and all manner of craft requisites. Café upstairs, frozen food plus other pre packed groceries
S. P.
Its a great store for.....art/creative stuff, mirrors, cards, DIY, kitchen wear bathroom wear, sports stuff, gardening stuff, pet stuff, furniture, food.....so many different things if you are looking for it then they might well have it here
S. B.
The Range sells just about everything (not white goods). I go for a browse and usually spend between £30-£40. They have a very wide range of cleaning products at excellent prices. Ditto pet food. Even the soda stream gas exchange is cheaper than usual. (Although you can only do this at the service desk at the front of the store- tsk). On my last visit we planned to have lunch. Oh dear. 20 minutes in the queue and only 5 people had been served with another 5 people in front of us, we gave up and bought sandwiches in the supermarket next door. I don't blame the staff I think she was on her own and rising to the challenge but she really needed more support. Even the display cases were emptying with no refills hence we left. The range on a whole is excellent, just won't go back to the cafe.
A. G.
Nice place, big selection but please fix you air conditioner :)
J. M.
Reasonable prices, relatively quiet late on a Thursday evening, but still well staffed. If you're buying any of the Christmas swags of plastic greenery, double check it has a price tag, as we got stuck waiting at checkout for a price check. Otherwise a perfectly fine shopping experience.
P. R.
Everything under one roof reasonable prices great staff I went in for a cushion and came out with a chair
K. 6.
Great shop with a nice "range" of items for home and garden. Lots of parking
C. H.
Went in but didn't purchase anything on this particular occasion. Usually lovely staff and nice cafe upstairs.
I. c.
Love it here massive selection of things to buy ,the staff are polite and helpful .I haven't been in for a while before hand didn't realise Iceland had joint on so even better ,would highly recommend giving The Range ,York a visit :)
A. N.
Excellent had everything i wanted. Large queue at the tills but surprisingly went down fast.
n. c.
Very good selection but a strong, sinister scent filled the place on my last visit
A. M.
Big warehouse selling pretty much everything. Pretty good prices too.
Update March 2022 - Nothing has changed! Thought I’d like to mention the excellent service given by the staff. Very helpful but more importantly, happy to help and everything done with a smile. Makes a huge difference.
B. H.
Great store has the majority of everything. Had a nice cuppa while we where there. Staff friendly and helpful if you can't find what you need .
L. M.
Such a varied selection of items to purchase, staff friendly and helpful.
e. k.
2 very nice young gentlementhis lunchtime 16,May 2022,, sorry iv forgotten there names think 1 was Liam, helped me by csrtying chairs downstairs and out yo my car, they were both freindly and helpfull thsnk you so much both of you x
A. C.
Plenty of choice of household items at a reasonable price with pleasant and helpful staff
D. D.
Massive shop. Find anything you would ever need in here. Very reasonably priced. Even has a cafe for a rest halfway round.
H. D.
I love looking around this shop. Everything under one roof. Furniture section could do will more furniture as there was a lot of wasted empty spaces. Also I found this typo....😂
I. B.
Always great value, lots of different stock coming in. Love it.
J. E.
The range seems to have everything you could want and the staff are very helpful
L. P.
The range offers many fantastic products and it's really improving its pet section. The addition of Iceland inside is a big help too. Michael who works there is a superstar and goes out of his way to make sure customers are helped.
A. A.
Loads of stock, pretty cheap, great car parking. Bit hard to find some things.
C. C.
The aisles are wide enough to be able to shop safely but the check out system could be better. It has a good mix of household goods and everyday items.
They need to improve the trolley situation as none were available at the entrance and I was told to walk round car park to find one. Not very hygienic in current situation and not easy to spray them in quite small area inside entrance.
Otherwise it was a great shop to browse around and find what you want.
J. D.
We got most of what we needed thankyou. Very sad there's lots of rubbish blowing around and stuck in the hedges outside.
R. B.
Beyond my expectations. I was blown away by their variety of their goods for sale. The store is very pleasant to visit and has a clean and attractive lay-out. The staff were most helpful = the whole of this massive shop did impress me, the first time I've had the pleasure of awarding 5 stars to any outlet, I believe.
S.
Lovely helpful staff.
Good cafe and hospitality
Carpark, toilets
s. r.
Plenty of items for my needs in stock. Seemed a little short of staff on my visit
A. H.
Disabled parking is near the entrance but when you leave you are further away than ever! So with a heavy trolley and limited movement it's a terrible ordeal.
Best place for reasonably priced picture frames
S. P. M.
First visit to The Range, unfortunately, the store appeared to be having some problems, ventilation system not working and the store was hot and stuffy, also some areas were changing stock over and shelves were empty. The areas that had stock had a good selection of products.
I'm sure things will be better on my next visit.
G. E.
Always a great shop to visit and helpful staff.
R. T.
A vast open store with an extra mezzanine floor for upstairs shopping and café.
Be careful as the car park entrance is a case of 'blink and you'll miss it'....
Also entrance and exit to the store are at opposite sides of the building....so don't go to the wrong side as it's easy done and so annoying.
L. D.
Limited staff available to help, on many of the items there was no price available, asked for assistance for a price on a large mirror and had to move several myself as the staff members that showed up didn't bother, checkouts can be awkward if you have purchased more than 10 items
a. W.
Excellent rsnge of goods but 4 stars as the clothing dept is decimated (at York branch)
J. L.
Lots of home and garden material. Economy products but some branded.
G. P.
Went in just after they opened at 9am - picked up my groceries & other essentials & went through the check-out immediately with no queues.
Staff member on the till was very friendly and was nice to have a casual conversation given the current circumstances.
I think now it's very important for businesses to provide great customer service - not just to encourage repeat sales, but to look after their customers
F. M.
Went to take a look at the pizza ovens advertised on line but they didn’t have any on display so wasn’t impressed
E. R.
The shop is fab as always but they REALLY need to sort the customers toilets out! Grimey, dirty, no lock on one of the women's cubicles and a light out in other which has been that way for a very long time! Dirty mop stood by the sinks. Just super grim! Sort that out and it would be a 5 stars.
P. P.
Good range of homewares and garden centre. Found a lovely pair of dark blue ceramic pots. They also have a cafe on site serving Costa coffee, and a section selling Iceland foods.
C. W.
Always a bargain to find here, although I am often suprised when I come out with minimum things and pay an extortinate price. Prices are getting more like dunelm.. but its nice to go in and buy a chair then see that you can buy some TGIs dirty fries from the freezer section
L. R.
You dont go to The Range with a shopping list to buy specific things. You go and it tells you what to buy. Or that's my experience anyway. Everything from plants, food to pet supplies- it's the most aptly named shop- ever! And it doesnt disappoint. Great shop, wide choice and a massive car park as well.
B. C.
One of those 'go to' shops due to its wide range of items for sale. A good selection of Christmas lights and decorations, although there's a need to keep on top of ensuring lights etc are kept tidy and in line with their pricing information as it can be difficult to work out the price of something when there's no price on the actual product. Good attempt at a one way system, but sometimes humans like to live on the edge and go against the flow ! Good accessibility and blue badge parking bays. Not sure if there are any accessible rest rooms however.
S. M.
Excellent shop with huge range of products. Fab for reasonable priced art items and for anything for the home, pets & garden. I love this shop and always leave with far more on my list, but always feel like I got a bargain!
j. s.
Managed to find my egg chair at last. Just looking forward to it been delivered. Excellent staff, polite etc. Couldn't do enough for me. Excellent store it has everything you need to fill your house. No need to go anywhere else.
R. K.
Big range (haha) of stock, good prices but not always great quality. They've reduced their stock of some things like art materials though which is appalling. I don't want to buy everything online!
Very difficult to find anyone to answer questions. Checkout staff can be a bit rude and unhelpful. Not enough tills are open when it's busy.
J. F.
Been visiting this store for a number of years, usually has a good variety of items, the new Iceland area is a nice addition, the Christmas area is good, though slightly bizarre with pedestal fans everywhere blowing in the faces of customers.
The car park is very large with a good amount of spaces.
Exiting the store could be a bit better as it would be difficult for disabled people to navigate.
C. M.
Fabulous evening, Footloose was a amazing night.thankyou to the cast as was professional and amazing dancing
D. P.
Good selection of Christmas decorations but they had a light net displayed that WASN'T for sale and had NO notice saying so!!! Very disappointed!
So they do NOT "have Christmas covered" at ALL!!
p. b.
Good range of items good value
C. C.
Very few people in shop or cafe. But
Made to feel uncomfortable for having a mask on as no one else had one one.everyone looking at you as if you had some thing wrong
B. K.
Has everything, tidy store, helpful staff, great range of products at good price
F. D.
Good variety of hardware, hobbies decoration and gardenia. The Iceland food mart is a superb addition. Friendly attentive staff too.
D. H.
Ok but the cafe closed 5min early and wouldn't serve us a coffee.
t.
Never been before. Bit like Home Bargains and B &M rolled into one but more expensive. Also has the added bonus of an Iceland instore which was a nice surprise. Gets an overall thumb's up from me, just have to watch the prices!
D. R.
Covid safe with social distancing being applied and cleaning stations at entrance. Store has a wide range of goods including lighting, gardening, stationery, housewares, food etc laid out so it's easy to find. Pleasant experience and staff friendly.
S. R.
Huge range of varying products. Great for art supplies!
J. D.
Very big and has everything you need
D. G.
Had coffee while there I love the range.
P. B. S. L.
Didn't stock the New Tyson Fury drink Furocity but helped provide the location not far 😉 @The Food Warehouse
M. B.
They need more staff on the tills, most things are miss price tags.
However the do have a good selection of dog stuff.
If you want Christmas things go early otherwise there is nothing left come December
T. B.
Great store. Lots of furniture indoor and indoor.
S. L.
Plenty to see and reasonable prices
J. B.
Fab shop with plenty to browse. Found it a little tricky to negotiate my way to the till area with a wheelchair and the narrow space on the aisles. The tills are definitely not wheelchair friendly!
c. y.
Had everything I needed and was well laid out. Large car park with plenty of spaces.
K. B.
Have visited many times, yet this time, clearly lines were missing, which is understandable at the moment. We got a shock that Iceland was now operating within, which lessened the range of goods quite a bit.
R. B.
Big range of goods (as the name suggests) but didn't have what we wanted, despite the web site saying that they did.
T. N.
Called for a few bits. Didn't have all i wanted. Store was clean, not too busy and staff were helpful
L. H.
Always love a good wonder around the huge superstore. With a cafe upstairs and everything you could ever think of in store from garden accessories to fishing to home furnishing to knitting the kids out with toys or back to school gear , you will find it all. Free parking and staff always nice and helpful. Will visit again soon. Very happy.
M. H.
Almost everything you need ! Worth a visit !
A. M.
Great shop which now incorporates a number of others, staff are fantastic though star knocked off for the shocking male customer toilets which wouldn't look out of place in a run down city centre used by drug users and vagrants
L. R.
Huge selection, great garden centre, good prices 👌
J. S.
Love this shop some things bit overpriced but something's are good value definitely worth a visit
B. A. G. E. A. T.
Great place for Christmas decorations that are quality and value. Get yourself down but beware time travels Fast here.
L. B.
Nice big store, but it is a mess, empty shelves, boxes of stock on the floor. Staff were quite rude and not very helpful as well. The shop is based just outside monks cross and has a big carpark too. The store features an Iceland as well which is nice and also has a garden centre and a cafe. Well priced stock.
l. s.
The Range are practising good levels of care with regard to covid. They have a great selection of Christmas decorations. I was looking mainly for arts and crafts products and whilst they had a fabulous range of products for many crafts they were sadly lacking in watercolour tube paints.
T. F.
Absolutely massive loved walking round has cafe too
B. M.
This has everything for crafters and at good value for money
D. H.
Always has just what I'm looking for, and usually something I didn't expect, too!
Decent prices and a huge collection. There's even a café so you can have a break from browsing.
The Range's seasonal stock is always on point - I especially love their Halloween display!
B.
Didn't get exactly what I went for, but still came away with something I did need. Great facility.
S. B.
As usual I enjoyed my shopping at The Range , staff are friendly but some of the isle's were cluttered with boxes however I'm aware shelves have to be stacked.
K. S.
The store itself is a very good place to shop, I visited the cafe and I have to say although we were the ONLY CUSTOMERS IN the food tasted and looked like it had been around the counter for quite a while, I had the sausage bloomer, it was barely toasted, one sausage I think sliced to look like more and both were as dry as sticks, I should have complained at the time but my friend paid for it and it seemed a bit churlish at the time to do so
It's not the first time I've been disappointed but I won't be visiting the cafe any time soon.
The store itself is great.
L. P.
Good if looking for home decor.
Staff could be a bit more helpful and cheerful :)
Oh not forgetting price labels could be put in the right place ie the garden centre
G. H.
My first experience with this Store. The incorrect prices displayed for items and got charged differently at the tills. Waterbutts availability shown on the website to collect in Store but when arrived none in stock. Contacted the Store Manager and he has now sorted the issues and I am happy to return. Thank you!
T.
Good shop with good prices. Cafe very clean and staff friendly.
S. T.
The Range is a gem of a shop. It has now added Iceland to its store, and has great range of very reasonably priced homeware goods. The staff are always helpful and will show you if you unsure were items are. Good parking and long opening hours. Rarely come away empty handed!
S. H.
Great, affordable products. Great for gardening items too. Just as long as you pick an item with a barcode or don't need to return anything, then it's hell! Customer service is shocking, staff are always needing management to come to the tills, and they are never nearby. Involves a lot of pointless waiting.
S. V.
The range itself is a good place to look round, plenty of choice. Cafe nice as well pleasant staff across the store. But car park is owned privately, click you going in and out, they say the signage is clearly displayed three hours parking, at entrance and throughout car park, I disagree, watch out for this.
C. F.
It's massive. Sells pretty much everything. The Christmas section upstairs is great too. Loads of great tat - going back for a musical Santa and snowman lamppost. Can't wait.
J. C.
The staff are great the shop is great and there is a fantastic Range of products ( pun intended). You can get almost anything you need from frozen food to wallpaper and woodworking clamps. Will be Comming back as the prices are cheeper here than at other online retailers. The click and collect ability on the website gives a greater access to the vast number of products that they sell.
H. P.
The art/paint/material sections are worth going to for certain items but the rest of the store is stocked with alot of cheaply made items
C. J.
The Range is a really good place to visit. A very large car park on arrival as this building used to be Asda many years ago but not always very tidy. There is usually something you find that you need when visiting this store. There is a very reasonably priced cafe upstairs with pleasant staff and quick service. The store in general is reasonably priced. Always lots of staff on hand if you need any help. Generally good.
T. R.
Best one of these we have ever been in. Its vast and very well set out.
Had to que a bit to pay for our items as it was very busy.
t. w.
Love the range like mine and dads second home 👍🤗
D. C. B.
One place where you don't no where luking first...
Perfect...
J. L.
Overall a great store with plenty of convenience and stock. Was assisted today by a very busy young woman in the garden centre section. Today would've been much easier to look around if hosepipes hadn't been everywhere and crates of new stocks hadn't been placed blocking other stock..All that said, helpful young woman in the centre was doing her best with all customers. Thank you.. will visit again . Would still recommend.
J. P.
Got 3 items from here and all came in perfect condition and on the right day for delivery was very impressed a wardrobe chest of drawers and a sideboard all look beautiful
R. S.
Good Store with an abundance of items. Stationary and art department very good .
S. “. S. G.
Good range of stuff for your home and garden. Not all of the highest quality but not at the highest price either. Outside the shop is a bit untidy but just be glad this shop exists and you can see and feel the stuff rather than order online and hope that it is what you want.
A. K.
I often visit this store for hobbies and craft... good variety of products available and better value than another nearby hobby-craft store. Parking is free but recently parking restrictions have been introduced - if you're staying longer than 2 hours you must let customer services know otherwise you will incur a parking fine.
A. C.
Massive shops with a wide range of products available. The outdoor furniture area upstairs is set out very nicely and the staff were helpful when I had a query.
D.
Love everything about this shop. Cafe is great value for money. It's a shopping experience of many delights!
J. h.
My friend and I Visited yesterday and purchased a large mirror. We were helped both in store and too the car by a lovely young man called lockie. I can not praise this young chap enough he carried the mirror out to our car . little mini . Carefully loaded it in, all the time smiling and chatting. A credit to the store. Thank you Lockie.
S. G.
Let’s be honest here, it is what it is, cheap and cheerful. You expect cheap and tacky, and aren’t disappointed.
j. 7.
I love this shop. Though the animal section could be a lot better. Not much choice or variety. You should be selling straw and hay, big bags. Otherwise yes the store is fab. Cafe is very expensive but parking is great. Always loads of room
H. I.
I bought some turf that had been reduced to half price. The staff were helpful and provided assistance with loading it up onto a trolley and unloading into the car. The young man who helped even asked if I had help unloading once I was home which showed real care. This was one of the better visit to the range.
R. S.
Love this shop , such a massive variety & cheaper than the competition such a B & Q. Staff so pleasant & helpful , they go out of their way to make the experience shopping free. Should have a loyalty card I go that often. It's just Ace !!
D. S.
Amazing shop. Well laid out. It sells everything. Only problem is buying so much you didn't know you needed till you got there! 😆
We had lunch at the cafe too. Food was lovely and fairly reasonable priced to.
Absolutely love this shop. Everything is reasonably priced.
M. A.
Always has what I need and a good selection.
However the tolls are so so dated. You can get about one item in them at a time, which makes emptying, getting the item scanned and then putting back in the trolley a juggling act. Now made worse by the protection screens.
N. C.
You can get anything and everything here good prices, friendly helpful staff plenty of free parking.
S. R.
A bit busy today customer service seems to be lacking
S. T.
Good variety of goods at reasonable prices. Beware the car park time limit!!
g. g.
This is a great place to find all of your arts and crafts needs. The staff are always really helpful and accommodating. We missed out on a coffee this time because the fire alarm went off and the building was evacuated. The staff did an excellent job getting everyone out (even though it was a false alarm). Cafe is recommended (as we've been before).
J. B.
Good store to find well priced products. Some of the staff could be more friendly. I know times are difficult, but we are all in the same boat.
S. R.
Good store, big, plenty too sell. However whenever I go always out of stock with whatever I was looking for. Used to buy cake decorating items, and homebrew items given up trying with this store. Usually end up driving to Wilkinson's at Clifton moor as more chance of carrying stock.
P. B.
Lots of stuff to look at,such a lot of various items
d. f. e.
its a great shop that sells pretty much everything!great for arts and crafts!only drawback is there arent enough staff!!the checkouts are so slow because there are not enough checkouts open!!maybe the owner could spend a bit more on staff instead of helicopters!!!!

The store itself is great they sell everything you could ever want.
However the cafe is poor, we had picked up the wrong sandwiches and the staff made out we had picked them up wrong when I went back to change them they were all stacked in the wrong place by the staff and not customers moving them around.
The customer toilets upstairs were absolutely disgusting. Locks on doors broken, dirty, I've seen cleaner toilets in a motorway services. It been a while since I visited The Range and the cafe and public toilets have definitely gone down hill.
M. K.
A large store with a very extensive range of everything and anything. A very good selection of craft products and most items are very affordable. The store is easy to navigate and and find most products.
Staff are helpful and very friendly. The store is well worth a visit if you are looking for most household items. Would highly reccomend this store.
L. W.
Bought 5 decorating ribbons for £1 each .cost £9 at till all mixed up .thought I was getting a bargain .but love the shop just bought all kitchen appliances .
S. B.
Nice shop plenty of choice
L. B.
Staff offer good service competitive prices unfortunately didn't have all that I wanted
J. C.
Amazing place found what i needed no problem, well organised and stocked shop, well worth a visit.
Getting everything sorted for xmas decs👍🌲
P. G.
Was looking for a table for my PC build, that didn't require waiting for and The Range came to the rescue.
Helpful staff, seemed a little unsure about the dimensions I needed. But was happy to assist and even took the table to the car for us.
J. D. (.
Everything thing under one roof, some great prices but make sure you know the prices of the things you want as you can pay more for the same thing here. But plenty to look at.
J.
Only went in to browse but you could spend a good few hours there!
M. W.
It has everything you need, if you can,t find it in any other shop the Range will not let you down they will have it.
A. M.
Ooh what can I say! Love the Range! Have to say first stop is the cafe for a vegetarian pizza one of the best pizzas I've had, and the staff in York Range cafe are a delight! The shop itself has everything you need and more, only problem is I go in for one thing and walk out with a bag full! So not go for my wallet! If you've never been... What you waiting for!?!? Just leave my veggie pizzas alone! 😁
R. M.
Great variety of stock right down to niggly little bits and pieces you might need around the house. Significant let down is the overall customer experience, not a place where problems are solved effectively or efficiently.
S. A.
Great range of items all fab quality and well priced. Christmas time they make it look great and the kids love seeing all the decorations up. Craft selection for the kids is great and a wide selection
G. M.
Huge store, slightly off the beaten track, near Clifton Moor. Excellent choice of items for sale and feels spacious and comfortable to walk around
C. K.
Great mix of art, craft and household items. Lovely cafe with great staff upstairs with furniture and lighting. Yogurt covered Banana chips near the tills in a big bag for a good price!
A. H.
The store was busy when I arrived, but what do you expect on Saturday afternoon? A member of staff was sanitizing every basket handle so we knew everything was as clean as possible.
R. M.
I only visited for the craft section which was quite large. Found what I went in for plus a few other bits. I noticed the other departments too and could have spent a lot of time in there if it wasn't a flying visit with a baby in tow. So I will have to visit again to appreciate the full range on offer.
C. B.
Its first time I've been here in years, so only just seen that there is a mini Iceland in store, which was actually nice to see and handy. Social distancing is in place and staff are very helpful.
S. J.
Laid out very well a large amount of stock. Christmas department upstairs is lovely
L. H.
The Range is a good place to go to spend some time browsing the huge range of goods on offer in a relaxed atmosphere. You can also pop up to the café on the mezzanine floor and enjoy a nice relaxing cuppa and a bite to eat, whilst looking out over the store and shoppers below. Highly recommended.
s.
Always find lots of different homewear items here, sometimes items are unavailable and finding them can seem hit and miss but is always worth a trip and always pleased with what I get.
L. K. (.
Nice store, looked bit empty after Xmas when I was there.
G. W.
Great selection of merchandise. Very helpful member of staff. Plenty of parking. Very good all round
D. B.
Loads of parking. Not much of a queue to get in. On 2 floors. Large range of products. Only issue I thought was the paying area that gets a bit mixed up with Iceland inside and till area lacks space if you have a trolley.
J. H.
Very wide range of stock, for arts and crafts/hobbyists to home decoration and garden supplies. The staff are friendly, but they need to have more staff on the tills. Large queues and less than half the tills being staffed is poor customer service.
J. N.
Normally have a good range of goods but upstairs was quite empty think there getting ready for Christmas.... There is always such a long wait at the check outs whenever I go tho
M. H.
I went for pet toys and treats and a chip pan plus a griddle pan basically I spent more than I should have done 😃but was very satisfied with what I got so was the dog, its quite good for various 'products something for everyone. Good free car parking and wheelchair accessible parking and they are plenty of staff to ask assistance etc I found them polite and friendly. My next luxury item from there is a nice floor lamp mmm that's it for now. Hope my information is OK for you all by for now 🐾🐕
J. E.
I love the Range, but unfortunately there cleaning stations are when you get threw the door, so you have to wait in a queue for between 10 - 30 mins with a unsanitary trolley. Then I got greeted by a rather rude ladie , who told me ( you must use our handsanitiesrer!!!) Very abruptly!!!. I explained, that we have our own on our bags. She said ( I dont make the rules! Use it! ) wow wow , proper rude ladie. Other than that, I got everything I need for my home DIY and outside projects. Good place to shop, if you can get past attitude woman.
J. N.
I love going in to the range because I always find that one thing I didn't know I needed or even wanted but when you see it you know that you have to buy it
L.
My wife and kids love it. If you're looking for the love child of Ikea meets Boyes, this is the place for you. Tonnes of fun stuff, decently priced. Unfortunately, they have a lot of things that I want to buy, making it a dangerous place to visit! Would strongly advise taking cash so as not to max out the Credit card.
D. J.
Big warehouse with everything you need for the home and garden at bargain prices. Nice Cafe on the upper level serving fresh sandwiches and cakes. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.
C. C.
I dont have a Range near me so pop in to the one in York if I am over there. This is a lovely store, spacious, well stocked and well laid out. Huge car park adds to the ease of shoppung here.
K. N.
Went for some fireworks. Not they looked good and they told us they had been recently robbed and fireworks was hit the most. We waited for the manager called Aaron and waited and waited. We waited for about 30mins before a lad called Pete came and sorted us out. The lady who served us was calling his name on speaker, on radio on the phones but he just wasn't replying. But yes after over half an hour we got some fireworks. For the price the wasn't that bad. They'd be great for younger kids! Overall it's not a bad place. They also sell a lot of stuff!!
E. F.
Good selection of homeware. Very cheap, plenty of carparking. Always changing their displays
J. E.
I like the Range for a potter about. Their motto 'If we don't have it, you don't need it' has come unstuck a few times because they don't always have what you want or a plan B as a back up. I never come out empty handed from tools, crafting to bird food etc so there is always something else I need.
D. H.
It always has what I want, can't ask for anymore than that.
R. D.
It was a Saturday morning, payday weekend. I awoke from my slumber at around 1030. The wife had made me coffee, it was weird because she is never in such a happy mood. Oh s**t, I remembered...The night before, I had said that we could visit the Range. (I had drunk a considerable amount of whisky.) I got myself up, showered, dressed and we were off for my first experience of The Range. The visit itself was a bit of a blur, not because it was bad. It was the type of blur that a child would experience on Christmas day. The type of blur that only excitement can create. We left with many things and it didn't break the bank.
E. H.
Love this shop, so big and always well stocked, the staff have gone above and beyond in service through these hard times it's the only shop I'm confident to visit. Can't wait for the cafe to open again
J. C.
This is one of my favourite shops in York its sell just about everything with a vast range of products at affordable prices. The staff are helpful and will always give you a helping hand if needed. There are a few areas they could improve on however, I am sure over time they will do that.
R. S.
Got some paint which was cheaper than B&Q. So it can be a good place to save money.
But the general customer service is poor. Attitude of staff is generally poor and you're often made to feel like you're inconveniencing them by asking for assistance.
D. C.
Lots of lovely things but very cluttered and disorganised
S. M.
Nice place to find anything you need. Staff in cafe rude and panic when there is more than 2 people at the till. Also needs more checkout staff waited 10 minutes to get to the till only 2 out of 4 on.
M. B.
A selection of lovely bits for any home. Even a handy car section for the dads ;) The café and garden centre are great for the family :)
J. M.
I needed some toy filling. Great price at £3:50 for a large bag. Also bought a packet of mixed felt. Excellent product. Great value.
b. b.
It wasn't very busy. Had a nice cuppa and sausage sandwich. Found the two things I needed. Toilets are poor, and lock broken on door.
R. S.
I like the store with a wide 'range ' of stock. The cafe looked nice too and was very quiet so we went for a coffee and bite to eat. 25 minutes later I got served! Only 6 or 7 people in front of me in the queue but not enough staff. Those there worked hard but had to do everything. No wonder the cafe was empty everyone was in the queue, along with 10 or more behind me. That's one cafe I will never visit again and a very poor show from The Range, though I understand the cafe is sublet to a company called Compass.
C.
Some lovely mirrors and pictures prices are reasonable but could be cheaper as found many items available online as well as at The Range
R. D.
Five star rating because of Raid the assistant in the furniture department. He was very helpful with a great personality. Whilst making my purchase I was offended by another member off staff from pre judging me by saying I looked like I wasn't going to buy anything however Raid redeemed my satisfaction buying with this store with him being such a great help aiding me with my purchase. Raid should be recognised for his efforts. Cheers Raid!, Legend!.
D. R.
Large spacious shopping experience. Isles marked on the floor for direction of travel. Well organised, extensive range of goods. Felt very safe.
S. W.
The range has a large selection of merchandise some does look slightly tacky and it can be hard to find what you are looking for. They sell homeware, stationary, pet things, chocolate and have a lot of christmas things too.
They do have a cafe upstairs.
They have a large carpark which is free.
P. P.
Have a very poor check out system. 3 tills dow to 1 with 8 people in que. Tannoy for more check out ops. 2 whi had signed off returned what was that about. In todaysclimate you need people out of store as quick as possible once purchases has being seletedby cus.
J. S.
I always forget all the different things this place sells. From art stuff for my daughter to paint for the house and food for our tea. Plus the added bonus of a cafe.
A. L.
Wide range of things to choose from and has a great Christmas section already., Always leave with something I didn't know I needed.
S. M.
Popped while in York and grabbed quite a few things it's really cheap and have a great variety plus there is the addition of the Iceland.
c.
Only problem is that the check out design is very poorly set for large disabled scooter.
Would be great moved till further into shop away from the alarm system.
C. H.
Reliably good prices on most items (always double check though) impressive range of goods from art and craft, through diy, homewares, furniture, pet and garden, and food items +more! Also stocks @sodastream cylinder refills.
j. n.
Well laid out store. Helpful staff.
Delicious latte in the cafe
J. M. (. H. &. B.
Fantastic range of products all under one roof. Always a queues at the tills with slow progress. You have to really want to purchase to stay the distance withe the wait. I have on occasions given up
R. W.
Popped into The Range at York grab some junction boxes. I see they’ve got a large food area now. Got caught out by the queuing system for the tills again and went the wrong way shame this temporary system is so hap hazard.
J. B.
Good car parking. Nice clean store. Friendly helpful staff
B. G.
Good shopping for a variety of items for the bird garden
T. J.
I like The Range. The staff are helpful and the products are cost effective. The Range in York has ample parking, with enough space available to load large items into your car. The coffee in the cafe isn't bad either.
T. H.
Range as a whole.. fantastic..... waiting for over 15 mins at the cafe not so good... poor lady was rushed off her feet,,, taking orders, making all coffees, heating the food, putting the cutlery away, answering generals queries from the public... felt sorry for her...
M. B.
What you would expect, nothing special but had what I wanted even though the point of sake did not exist
s. b.
Nicely laiad out store, that really does stock a huge range of things for your home, garden, car and more. service is very good ..had to return a chair that my father bought as it had broken...the guarantee had run out on the chair 6 months prior to this, bit they gave a full fefund in the form of store credit..which I think was very fair. Thank you to Simon ? ( I believe was his name) in the furniture department who was very helpful.
c. g.
It really depends on what you are looking for unfortunately for me the wallpaper section was a waste of space, but worth a visit for other things, plenty of free parking and a nice selection of coffee and cakes .
r. h.
Good choice on art materials, seems shop not stocking as wide a range of artist canvasses as it previously did.
J. R.
Spent some happy time buying things I never knew I needed!
C. G.
Alot less in than last time I went. Don't know because of covid?
Asked assistant where candles had been moved to. Pointed vaguely in direction of door.
Won't be back again.
M. 3.
I understand there were renovations taking place but on a busy Saturday they should have areas with dangling electric wires and glass fixings all over the floor tidied or fenced off.
The picture frames however were cheap, easy to find and suitable for purpose.
K. J.
So much to see here. Great for crafts and decorating, setting up home, pets and gardening. And now they have frozen food too.
K. T.
Massive choice of toys home and pet stuff. What every you need you will probably find it here. Also now with Iceland inside added bonus. Will definitely return.
L. B.
Good old Range, we picked up a load of the plastic storage boxes which are great value and of course ended up with loads of other stuff we didn’t need. But rough round the edges but The Range will always deliver.
J. V.
Nice catch to have Iceland and The Range under the same roof. The parking is very tired, tamarc wise
C. L.
We were surprised at so much to look at good store helpful staff.
J. M.
Customer service is not good. Purchased a recliner suite and only had it for a couple of months before one of the recliner chairs stopped working. The other chair was very stiff to use and the upholstery wasn't the same as the other chair. After 6 weeks of visits, telephone calls and emails to the head office which were a waste of time, we were offered a refund and they wanted the furniture back. Today, to my surprise I saw it up for sale at just £185 less than the original price. No mention that it wan't fit for purpose and was second hand. Unbelievable.
Good for smaller items but not as cheap as they like to advertise. Not enough staff for tills.
D. M.
I don't think there is anything thay don't sell . I love the crafting things and i got a lovely Christmas tree last year . Staff nice and helpful but something needs sorting at the check out . Very slow
S. b.
Great place to shop great prices, some staff need better training but there's always one that let's the side down.
M. T.
Fantastic place to visit. Great selection of items to choose from and now also has the bonus of having Iceland included instore. Definitely worth a visit.
J. B.
It was ok got what i needed found it easy. But when you come out of the shop why not have the path right the way round to get to the disabled parking area its not easy very easy to go in but not going out the path slopes so not flat could be better designed
C. D.
So big and full of exciting things to buy for your home & garden. The only thing that frustrates me is the state of the toilets, which need a revamping. Always enjoy something from the cafe.
K. H.
Nice shop. Just u always have the same stock in. Nothing new or different. Also it's far to hot in the store. The heating must be on full blast all the time. It stops me from looking around when I shop with you
M. K.
Nice store , Range provides quality household goods & Iceland provides good variety of frozen food provisions
S. R.
Although it is the biggest place I got everything I needed at a great price.
J.
Pleased it was open and able to get art and craft items as they have a wide range of stock. Able to also get some food and chocolate items.
K. D.
Variety of garden items available, good selection of every day product's and Iceland outlet within the store
S. M.
Lovely staff, could be a little more organised R.E. refilling trollies etc. However the staff helped with the multiple baskets we had to use. Recommended
m. m.
Very nice.but toilets downstairs not open had to go upstairs to use them.also cafe not open disappointing.when you need a drink and a sit down to rest.bur otherwise a very nice shop .
g. b.
It's the range. You probably don't need to buy any of it, but you seem to often end up with a basket full. It's like magic.
E. C.
Has a good range of products as the name suggests . I buy all my artist equipment there and decorating needs. Always been pleased with the quality and the price.
S. W.
Lots of Christmas lights & decorations available 🌟
B. A.
Sometimes find the positioning of stuff not logical but maybe that's just me. Good value for the stuff I do buy.
P. L.
Good 'range' of products, crafts, small tools, outdoor equipment and animal feeds. Only downside is the service at the tills, it's always slow and the tills seem to breakdown frequently.
J. B.
Reasonably priced, with stock that covers a large selection of diverse products, from furniture, beds, paint, wallpaper, garden ware to sweets. Large car park.
W. O.
Great place to go for just about anything you need. Went this morning and got kitted out for making ginger beer at home for about half the price you'd pay elsewhere. Recommended.
B. B.
A wide variety of goods, I have yet to visit this store and not have to queue at the till the shop wasn't even that busy.
a. b.
Always plenty to look at and choose. Excellent range of Xmas items and reasonable prices. Felt comfortable walking around
T. V.
Nice place to do general shopping with excellent parking facility.
L. L.
Great service, great bargains I have nothing to complain about the staff are all lovely and I look forward to returning there in the future 💕
M. S.
I love this shop, mostly looked round the Chrismas selection, only problem I found was nothing appears to be priced individually and the price on the shelving doesn't always match with the item on the shelf which was frustrating.
C. B.
Really good can get everything you want here
P. C.
it was my first time at the store and i was pleased with what i could buy all under one roof, but gone on to web site to find the garden seat with wheels on the side cost 49.99 and it didnt come up . there wasnt enough checkouts but other than that it was great and i will pay them another visit anne harrogate
t. h.
Well stocked with friendly staff. Shame there is no lights on car park
B. H.
Plenty of choice of products ..helpful staff. Tiny negative was couldn't buy lengths of fabric we needed in half metres
T. S.
Compost area messy with what was left. All of the bags were split open which had spilt. But, a great shop with everything else i needed.
V. H.
So diverse. Spacious shopping. Comfortable coffee/lunch lounge . Adequate car parking. Plant centre. Pet food. Art supplies everything for the home and garden.
E. R.
The products and prices are amazing 100% recommend. However... the cafe I believe it's called DeeDee's is total disorganised chaos. Never in my life will I understand how that place hasn't burned to the ground. It's suprisingly expensive for its level of disastrousness to add to the reasons not to go.
J. “. C.
One shop for everything, even food shopping
p. f.
Handy place to get tools and bit for around the house saves time traveling to the big outlets reasonable priced.
A. W.
Went into the Range, Monks Cross, on a busy Sunday afternoon to return an unsuitable item and decided to purchase two Apple accessories while we were there. Despite the fact that the customer service desk was extremely busy the staff member , Lewys, was cheerful, friendly, helpful and professional, apologising for my wait when the items had to be fetched from another area in the store. A very good ambassador for the Range.
A. B.
Sometimes chaotic but generally always something here that you need. This visit I felt that the Christmas section upstairs was badly stocked and laid out. Was better downstairs
L. K.
This place is huge. So many products to choose from. Came away with everything we needed and lots of ideas for the future. Definitely worth a visit. Large free car park.
P. W.
This store has stock of almost every household object you could ever want at good prices, plus a cafe upstairs
D. A.
Nice cafe inside with very friendly staff. I was a bit disappointed with the garden centre, but otherwise it is a nice place
M. W.
Sells just about everything you would want/need, the staff are really polite & helpful.
l. c.
Love this shop, has everything I want. Bit of a queue at checkout but they were giving chocolates out to keep people happy, though I missed mine lol
H. S.
Yes great place to go you can get most things at reasonable prices they even have an iceland shop there
P. W.
Pretty much ok, other than there appears to be less stock on display, and in keeping with other retailers, it all looks a bit more expensive???
B. G.
Lots of interesting things 👍👍
P. B.
Excellent cheap does all junk stuff no one else wants to sell. Hahaha
P. E.
Found what I was looming for no problem. The store is well played out a little wait at check out but it was bank holiday. Also reasonably priced cafe.
A. P.
Spacious plenty to shop for ques can be long and always calling staff but a greatshop everything under one roof
i. L.
Good products and prices but the staff. Not enough training in public interaction. Some are very helpful but others are letting them down.
J. A.
Been looking for some steak plates as l dropped two of ours found them in stock. Not bad price too.
S. H.
Very good staff in here had to refund a wall clock it was so easy to do pleased with the outcome 😀
J. K.
Nice shop when we went they were merchandising for Christmas
T. F.
Massive selection of homewear, kitchen wear, pet essentials and gardening. Everything you could need for your home all under one roof at a really good price.
S. C.
Surprising assortment of items, the range of product at the Range if great. Now with Iceland inside mean that there are bargains in food as well.
B. B.
Friendly staff, good products will use again
G. C.
Good product selection, good prices, toilets an absolute discrace in every sense. Considering they have a cafe I'm not sure how they get away with such filthy dilapidated toilets.
c. h.
Has a great range of stuff but very little you actually need often buy stuff i didn’t go in for.
J. D.
I visited today. Needed wallpaper samples. I was assisted by a lady who I believe may have been a new member of staff but she was extremely efficient polite and helpful.
M. M.
Could spend all day here. Friendly staff and if you need it they've got it
l. k.
Great store. Has just about everything.
N. B.
Lovely shop packed with everything that you might need.
C. D.
Had lovely time will go again, got what we wonted 😊
v.
Love a look around here you can find some lovley gifts and household items
R. C.
Has a decent pet section, furniture isn't very great quality so would avoid that department as IKEA is far better on build quality
V. D.
Great selection of different items, I went for a mirror. Large store and lots of room.
M. A.
Outstanding choice of homeware, all year round, & garden, one shop you will never leave with nothing, spoiled for choice & staff are brilliant, and we are so lucky to have this service, you can always stop there & have a break with a nice coffee etc, & go home very pleased, Well done The Range, York.
H. M.
If you like arts and crafts. It's good value for money with choice. On the garden I got something different for planters
N. P.
Large choice of household goods available and prices are reasonable. Plenty of parking. Cafe on site, with other food options available at nearby Monk's Cross.
A. W.
Not as cheap as it used to be. No reason to visit here rather than any shop now.
A. H.
I haven't been to The Range for some time and I was impressed with the product range and prices. Layout of the store also seems better. I will definitely visit again soon.
A. H.
Always lots of choices for all around the home well worth visit, has customer toilet, but cafe closed at moment
S. C.
Very good range at the range! Lol. Shame the checkouts were so understaffed. Staff helpful and kind building a bit tired bathrooms below par, not very clean looking.
R. W.
Great choice and value
K. H.
Got lots of arts and crafts stuff, reasonably priced as well as more expensive stuff, even managed to get my cat food so no need to go else where. No queing at tills and plenty of parking.
M.
Came to buy a kitchen bin. but was disappointed with the section also not all had a price ticket.
a. s.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Covid-19 safe and clean. It was a pleasure to shop there 😀
L. H.
Good variety of household and garden goods toys food pet accessories
