Pros: knowledgeable, professional, reasonable pricing, good communication. Cons: none. We used Venn Architectural Services to create plans to renovate our house. The scope was ultimately to convert the attic, add a staircase, open up the kitchen/dining/living room, remove a conservatory, remodel kitchen and maximise storage. Stuart has been extremely professional and available throughout the end to end process, which includes a detailed site visit to measure the entire house, offer different design proposals, submit plans to the council for planning permission and building warrant. Must be said, plans were accepted first time with no hiccups - I trust this is down to Stuart's experience and knowledge of local building regs. Stuart has also been available post council approval to answer questions from myself and the builder, which I appreciate a lot. I would highly recommend Stuart's company for anyone looking to renovate their house.

FREE ADVICE regarding Venn Architectural Services Ltd. In general, we think people are a bit afraid of architects. They assume that what they're telling them will go over their heads. They presume that they'll be forced to listen to old fashioned industry jargon and worst of all, they assume that all architects are really expensive - Guess What? All of the above does NOT apply to Venn Architectural Services Ltd They are a young, upbeat, professional and reasonably priced company, they speak our language and they drive around in Smart Cars... Probably the least intimidating architects in Edinburgh. Need Help? Give them a call. We do, regularly.

We got in touch with Venn Architectural Services to look at an internal wall demolition in a listed building within a conservation area in Edinburgh. We didn't really know where to start, including the process involved, likely cost and what was required. Stuart was really helpful. Stuart Smith from Venn is a highly professional, competent Architectural Technician. I could have paid a lot more by hiring an architect, but in actual fact this worked out much better and considerably cheaper because he was so quick and didn't try to sell up. He went above the call of duty a couple of times and his communication was always very friendly, clear, concise and super speedy. He knew exactly what he was doing and helped me with communication between myself and the builder, the council (for planning permission) and the structural engineer. I would have no hesitation in recommending Venn. Well done Stuart!
