Set in the quiet heart of the city, with an elegant public plaza at the south door.
We enjoyed a very good youth choir at evensong. In fact, a lovely service in all respects.
The new focus for the cathedral, and indeed for the whole city, is around the newly found link with the last of the Plantagenets. The dramatic statue, heroically capturing those critical moments at Bosworth, where Richard became the last British monarch to die on the battlefield.
The monument in the choir, before the high altar, has created a pivotal refocus for worship in the building. It is very elegant and dignified

I attended the service celebrating 250 years since the founding of Leicester Royal Infirmary. (12th September 2021)The service was superb. Totally organised. The choir and organ music lent suitable gravitas to the event. It was such a pleasure to attend a live event. It was broadcast live on the internet and also recorded. I have a real affection for the Cathedral. I used to call in and meditate and pray when I was going through tough times. I always felt welcome and found a sense of peace and refuge. Added to which it has a great history of its own. It also is the final resting place of King Richard the third.
It hosts many events both spiritual and social and is worth a visit and your time and attention. Consult the website and see what is available. You wont regret it.

We recently got married at Leicester Cathedral and had such a beautiful ceremony, thanks to the wonderful and attentive church staff. We particularly would like to say a special thanks to Father Chris Oxley for conducting our ceremony and helping us on our journey as husband and wife. Thank you!

A beautiful cathedral with friendly staff warm welcoming. Is the home of the burial place of Richard III with it's beautiful tasteful and elegant tomb. There is no gift shop but booklets are available daily services are held a and anyone can participate. Visitors can look around and enjoy the windows, monuments and carvings. Go early if you want unrestricted view of the kings tomb as it does get very busy.
Although a cathedral it is smaller than most as originally it was a parish church and only in more recent years been designate a cathedral. Some admissions may be refused if services are taking place for wandering visitors or special services.
Laminate visitor information cards are available and the staff ready to help answer any questions you may have.

Great cathedral to visit if you are in the area. Easy to get to, lots of history in there. Surrounding grounds are nice too. Place to relax inside and out while learning a lot too. Recommended if you are passing by or in the city.

A beautiful, active cathedral with some stunning architecture. I visited during the moon exhibition which featured a stunning art piece made of many high quality images of the moon seamlessly stitched together. A must visit if in Leicester, especially if wanting to visit the final resting place of King Richard III.

The tomb of Richard III is the highlight. Also the tour guides were very informative and engaging. Lovely to see the peregrine falcons on the tower with live cameras
C. M.
Loved seeing the tomb of Richard 3rd which has been beautifully crafted from fossil limestone , plus the lovely embroidered cover. Great to see his prayer book with his own handwriting. Helpful guides show you what to look for. Peregrine falcons nesting in the tower. Fabulous cakes in nearby White Rose cafe. I still think he had the little princes murdered, though.

A lovely space. Personally I don't go for the religious element but for the art installations, theatre and music (not forgetting King Richard). Love that they push the boundaries of what a space like this can be.

A very beautiful smaller cathedral steeped in history. Not only home to Richard III but also some beautiful stained glass windows and memorial Chapel. Very helpful volunteers and laminated information sheet to guide you round. Nice cafe and garden area opposite the main (West) door.

It was really sad for me to not visit the Cathedral because it was closed for maintenance. But try to walk around n enjoy the view. Hope next time.

Being close to the King Richard exhibition, Leicester Cathedral is a natural progression to see the final resting place of King Richard III. It is not as grand as some Cathedrals bit quite lovely in its own way. It has the typical quiet and calm they tend to offer outside of service. The tomb is tastefully done and they do not object to photos being taken. There are plenty of other items to look at including pictures which have a story alongside. Some interesting stained glass is also well worth a view. There are staff on hand to help if needed and the optional collection box. It's a fitting end to the whole exhibition.

Nice building, Richard III grace is worth a visit, some of the warning signs or no stepping signs could be a bit more obvious. Helpful & informative staff

Went to Leicester Cathedral today to visit King Richards 111 tomb.It is free to get in, but suggested donation of £ 5.00 is appreciated. The lady who was overseeing the tomb was very informative. Please take photographs of the tomb, but you should not take photographs with family and friends as this is deemed disrespectful.A must see exhibit

You must visit that place
A church dedicated to St Martin has been on the site for about a thousand years, being first recorded in 1086 when the older Saxon church was replaced by a Norman one.[citation needed] The present building dates to about that age, with the addition of a spire and various restorations throughout the years. Most of what can be seen today is a Victorian restoration by architect Raphael Brandon.[citation needed] The cathedral of the former Anglo-Saxon diocese of Leicester was on a different site.[1]
A cenotaph memorial stone to King Richard III of England was until recently[when?] located in the chancel; it was replaced by the tomb of the king himself. The monarch, killed in 1485 at the Leicestershire battlefield of Bosworth Field, had been roughly interred in the Greyfriars, Leicester. His remains were exhumed from the Greyfriars site in 2012 and publicly identified in February 2013.[2][3] Sir Peter Soulsby, Mayor of Leicester, and David Monteith, the cathedral's canon chancellor, announced the king's body would be reinterred in Leicester Cathedral in 2015. This was carried out on 26 March.
The East Window was installed as a monument to those who died in World War I. The highest window contains a sun-like orb with cherubs radiating away from it. In the centre Jesus sits holding a starry heaven in one hand with one foot on a bloody hell. Surrounding Jesus are eight angels whose wings are made from a red glass. To the far right stands St Martin, who stands on the tail of a dragon. The dragon goes behind Jesus and can be seen re-emerging under the feet of St George who stands on its head. On the bottom row can be seen from left St Joan of Arc, Mary, Jesus with crying angels, Mary Magdalene, James, and St Martin of Tours. The window includes an image of a World War I soldier..

If you're in Leicester and interested in history and Richard III, a visit to the Cathedral is compulsory! It's also a beautiful oasis of peace and calm. I'd highly recommend chatting with the Cathedral guides who really know their stuff. We spoke to Irene, who had a remarkable historical knowledge of King Richard and the discovery of his remains that was fascinating to listen to.
P. M.
We visited the moon exhibition, I have visited this cathedral many times and it always seems very friendly. We came to see the Richard 111 tomb with the grandchildren. I particularly like the idea of voluntary contributions for entrance. And there is a good cafe next door. I can recommend the hot chocolate and brownie.

Small for a Cathedral but makes up for it due to Richard III beautiful tomb
a. g.
Beautiful place to visit. Small but stunning cathedral housing the final resting place of King Richard the third. The immediate surrounding area is also lovely. Not sure of opening hours at present but the Richard the third museum, just opposite the cathedral is also worth a visit.
D. G.
Leicester Cathedral. This church is where King Richard as been put to rest. Lots of history Well worth the visit, plenty to do round here.
H. S. S.
Very nice, historic architecture city
D.
An excellent place to visit to see the Cathedral interior and the final internment of Richard III. Very friendly and knowledgeable and informative staff.
S. S. 1.
Beautiful building despite some ongoing work going on. Lots of very interesting history about King Richard III. Fantastic artwork and windows. We stayed for about 3 hours including a cup of coffee in the excellent coffee shop in the adjacent building.
J. C.
Historic building dedicating bell ringing to LCFC owner who tragically died in a horrific accident. Thank you from someone born in Leicester for your memorial tribute.
C. B.
Interesting building, and of course the tomb of Richard III is here, but also the temporary exhibition of images/artwork from the Northern Ireland Troubles were very thought provoking and moving: worth seeing.
C. M.
I hadn't been to Leicester for many years, glad I went. What a beautiful Cathedral and to see the burial place of Richard lll.
R. S.
Beautiful cathedral where the remains of King Richard III are entombed. He was the last Plantagenet king before the Tudor dynasty.
A. A.
One of the most beautiful places in Leicester ❤️
E.
The cathedral is very beautiful and interesting. The various members of the clergy and other staff were really friendly and helpful. One lovely lady gave us directions to the nearby Castle Gardens which was well worth the short walk to get to.
P. e.
Cathedral ok, but I thought it was much bigger inside
C. P.
Beautiful place and so well maintained. We couldn't stop for the Carol service unfortunately, but the people were very friendly and let the children look around. We also lit a candle for my nan x
J. M.
Gaia display of the earth from space. Unfortunately the globe was so high I was unable to capture an image of Europe. I would of liked someone there to talk about the display
D. S.
The old graveyard might have been more scenic than the current arrangement in front of the cathedral.
R. J.
Nice to walk around, also visit the Guild hall, free to look round
R. H.
Leicester Cathedral is a beautiful space and they make a great point of utilising it to its full potential. As well as being a place of worship, it often houses concerts and art exhibitions.
Plus it makes it's history easy to access, including being the resting place of Richard III. Just across is the King Richard III Visitor's Centre, or the better option, the Guildhall - which is also free!
D. H.
Beautiful building for visits and services. Photographs can be taken
J. W.
Closing for 20 month refurbishment 2nd Jan 2022, get in quick.
S. P.
Its a shame part of the cathedral is being removed to make way for a modern visitors centre. We have precious few original buildings in Leicester.
A. A.
I like visinting this place, the ancient building is a peace of art.
F. W.
A must see when in Leicester. King Richard III tomb impressive and moving in it's soberness and simplicity.
A late recognition of King Richards greatness
S. R.
richard third. dominos pizza. six pack of carling. proper british. cheers.
R. D.
So welcoming and a truly spiritual feel about the building but more importantly the people.
S. H.
The cathedral is well maintained and nice and warm on a winter's day. Of course the big draw here is the tomb of Richard III and this was very respectfully done. Staff friendly and helpful. The only thing I would like to have seen extra was a little more background on Richard III and how they found him. I guess this is all covered in the nearby visitors centre but we gave that a miss because it's too expensive. Recommended.
M. M.
Lovely place the windows are beautiful.

The cathedral has many interesting and artistic features, including of course the recent tomb of King Richard III. The stewards offered a warm welcome.
M. C.
A little gem and oasis in a busy city. Peaceful atmosphere, some stunning stained glass windows both ancient and modern. Very tasteful King Richard lll tomb. Experienced and interesting staff. The area outside is a lovely place to sit and has a simple but quite gorgeous water feature. Inside the Cathedral the current Wondering Soul art exhibition is an exciting mix of Paintings, workshops and response stations. I recommend the whole exhibition which is in a number of other venues too.
M. M.
Beautiful cathedral in the city centre & King Richard III's resting place
C. L.
Lovely warm atmosphere and very historic, houses the remains of Richard the 3rd which was found in a local car park
T. S.
Went in to see the 'esrth' exhibition. Late in the day but were given a wonderful 'tour ' by the lovely gentleman in charge. Very interesting exhibition and cathedral.
M. D. F.
Gorgeous cathedral which is the home of the remains of Richard III. Very well decorated and maintained, with plenty of information about the history of this beautiful piece of history. The ringing of its bells is a lovely addition to the atmosphere of the city, and it has amazing seating outside to sit and watch its beautiful architecture. Staff inside are always happy to help with any questions or information.
J. P.
I had the best experience at the Cathedral- the staff were so extremely kind and I had conversations with several of them about the history of the Cathedral and the burial of Richard III. Speaking to them made my trip to the Cathedral so much better than I could have hoped. I would definitely recommend talking to the Cathedral welcomers as they have such a wealth of knowledge! Thank you so much! Will definitely be visiting again.
S. C.
Went to the cathedral to see the Gaia exhibition. The exhibition included a 21m globe of the earth comprising of photographs of the earth taken by NASA. I would highly recommend visiting the exhibition before it closes in 2 weeks time.
N. H.
Very beautiful cathedral and knowledgeable guides. I enjoyed my visit and the sight of Richard III burial place. Modern stonework but definitely in keeping with the layout of the cathedral. Definitely worth a visit for anyone who enjoys finding out about history.
A. B. E.
Beautiful.. The details of the cathedral is amazing.. Just couple of mins from city centre. Plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants around it.
R. S.
Small for a cathedral. It is basically a large church. However, the key and most important thing about this place is that the love of Christ is at the heart of everything that goes on here. We are truly blessed in Leicester to have this place and if you come inside you will be made most welcome. Yes, the remains of Richard III are here but the spirituality which is at its heart makes Leicester Cathedral so vital as a true witness to the love of Jesus which is freely available to all those who seek Him.
A. C.
I came here with a friend in April 2017. I love Richard III and thought it would be an amazing experience to visit this grave and the visitor centre. When we went to the centre and purchased our tickets we was told that the cathedral would be closing before the centre and recommended that we visit this place first.
The outside is stunningly beautiful. It is surrounded by flowers and has a statue of Richard III which you can take a photo with. Some people will leave a white rose on the statue.
Inside it is massive, the scenery and the decor is spectacular. You can walk around by yourself or ask one of the volunteers to walk around with you. You can see others things and not just Richard III's grave.
You get to see the final resting place of Richard III. It is truly a sight to see. You are not allowed to walk up the grave and touch it but it can be clearly seen. You can also light a candle for him by making a small donation.
The volunteers there were truly a credit. Taking the time out of their day to teach people about the life of Richard III. If you know history very well you will probably already know most of the things that they will tell you but it was still interesting to see and listen to another person's perspective.
You can also make a donation to help keep the church in repair which I did.
It did not take long to walk around the cathedral but it was still a good trip. I think if you enjoy history and/or want to learn more, then you will not be disappointed if you came here.

Love going to the cathedral everytime I'm in the city centre. I find just going in even when a service isn't on peaceful and awe inspiring. It's one of the few places I find easiest to feel the presence of God. Very informative when it comes to the history of Leicester and the staff are always friendly and helpful even if you are with two small boys who aren't always very good at being respectful to people wanting to pray.
r.
Had to duck into the Cathedral when we realised we were too late for the Richard III exhibit nearby. We were then treated to an informed tour inside looking at the tomb and seeing how the building had changed over the years. It was lovely.
P. J.
We went in the cathedral during our cycle ride to Leicester. It's free to get in and doesn't disappoint once inside. We were greeted by the staff and given some guidance about making our way round.
The grave of Richard III lies inside which is an interesting thing to see. Not too busy inside the cathedral and worth a visit if you're in Leicester.
g. m. (.
Beautiful cathedral with stunning stained glass including some new style one's, and a magnificent cross chair/throne. A must visit in Leicester and does not need you to be religious or have any interest in history or king Richard....JUST VISIT.
V. G.
One of the main attractions of the city. A unique cathedral organ and, of course, the grave of Richard III !
M. H.
Small but beautifully formed. The site of Richard III interment is simple but stylish. The cathedral has some powerful medieval carvings. Everyone was welcome to participate in the Communion, confirmed or not, which I thought was wonderful.
D. C.
Not the grandest, largest or best-known cathedral in England but it still has the right mix of spirituality and impressive architecture to inspire visitors. The tomb of King Richard III is a modern yet poignant draw, as are the lovely gardens to the front.
R. L.
I have worshipped qat this cathedral for many years, there have been a great many changes. We now have the tomb of King Richard iii which draws in a lot me people now. For those who want time for quiet prayer and reflection there are side chapels where you can sit quietly, there are also priests on site if you need to talk to some one
s.
We have a lovely Cathedral here in Leicester and its attracting quite a lot of visitors nowadays which is why it should be made a priority to have the seating area outside the Cathedral kept clear of the drug users and alcoholics that I've seen using 1 particular bench on a few occasions. I was going to sit there a few days ago with my young daughters and noticed they were sat there so we crossed the road to sit and rest, we had been sat down a couple of minutes when a homeless guy approached us, he was shaking and asked me for money which I said I didn't have but he stayed a few more minutes asking me again and again which was scary for my youngest daughter who couldn't walk away fast enough to leave the area. So if you visit the Cathedral or are just passing through town and want to use a seat be aware of this happening as it's clear they're targeting people that sit nearby with sob stories about needing money for a hostel bed when it's really for alcohol or drugs.
M. M.
Leicester Cathedral is a special place to go to. There are many things to see. It has got much history to it. You can have quiet times of Prayer also if you wish. The Tomb of King Richard III is also there. A wonderful Cathedral.
D. H.
History and an excellent cathedral. The lovely guides are full of knowledge a d will answer all questions brilliantly. Take a moment to sit in the pews dedicated to Leicester's military history and personnel. If you can time your visit with an organ recital you won't be disappointed. Go see!!!
S.
A nice piece of history for those that enjoy a visit to a cathedral, I however was having a rest on our way out of town and knew there were seats in front of the cathedral, unfortunately there was a group of junkies and alcoholics sitting there so we crossed the road and found a seat there. If Tourism is going to work in areas like this then something needs to be done to move these people away from areas where tourists visit ie: clock tower & town hall square fountain aswel as here at the cathedral because it is a deterrent when tourists want to take pictures and there are scruffy day time drinkers with their bottles hanging about and approaching people asking for money for a hostel or a meal.!! We can't expect foreigners to recommend our city to others if they see street drinkers at places they are visiting
s. B.
Lovely time, the arch deacon took us for a tour of the roof then the Roman bath house beneath the altar. Most interesting.
N. T.
Well, it's a cathedral. What do you need to know? Much smaller than they normally are. I went to a service led by the bishop. I was surprised at how very high church it was, especially as this was a service related to children. There was much mention of politics and "the world today" but little focus on children. Two young people took part in the service (plus some in the choir), and very few were present.
B. W.
Absolutely stunning building. The volunteers/staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Also a great history lesson for our home educated children.
M. P.
Marvellous day out. Splendid ceilings, a beautiful small niche with all blue stained glass windows, knowledgeable volunteers sharing stories. The foreground has been updated and is a great place for a picnic. Also Outside a period film was in process and that was fun to see.
J. M.
Not your typical medieval cathedral. A parish church which grew wider and became a cathedral in the C19. It has a nice blend of ancient and modern fittings in its square version of a round church! The discovery and burial there of the body of King Richard III has been milked to death but will surely interest many visitors.
B. J.
Didn't see the monk in the tree outside so my life is not in danger. Richard 111 burial place and exhibition centre close by. So well worth a visit. In a picturesque part of Leicester also indulge yourself with a visit to the close by museums and parks all worthy of your time Jewry wall museum Newarke house museum Abbey park guildhall are my fav but so much more to explore in this fantastic city
J. B.
A really beautiful building. Please be aware that it is a functioning place of worship, visitors are encouraged to join services but you cannot walk around during a service, so if you only want to see it, check service times. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. There are many layers of history in this place. The stained windows (some v old, some modern) are exquisite. Of course Richard III is interred here and his tomb is worth the visit alone. There is no entry fee, which makes it accessible to people on low income. Visitors are encouraged to make a donation, it's very worth donating to in order to keep it accessible.
A. H.
Superb visit. Lovely Cathedral with very friendly and knowledgeable guides. Fascinating history. Probably most famous now as the final resting place of England's last Plantagenet king, Richard III. At the side of the Cathedral is a visitor's center with the story of Richard and the Plantagenets. There's a café and small gift shop.
F. L.
A lovely place to visit where Richard III 's lying.
C. j.
Beautiful Cathedral, with the new memorial for Richard III inside, made from local stone.
Just across the courtyard is the recently found tomb under the car park of Richard III, see my photos.
Excellent stories, well told and well presented with considerable dignity as befitting a King.
G. T.
Obviously religious. Calm peaceful sobering. With respect to fallen genuine hero's. But perhaps the historical. main attraction. Richard 3rd burial place. Great respect has been taken .and well worth visit
D. B.
It was quiet when we went round so was good,The guide was quite good and knowledgeabe we maybe git told little bits of snippets that arent mentioned in large groups.like the fact that how the light huts Ruchard the thirds tomb makes it look like a seord running down the criss on the top. Loads of little details running through the Cathedral that are hard to spot if you were to do it on your own.Pretty little Cathedral a stones throw away from hussel of the city
C. H.
I went to visit, & was able to light a candle. Say prayers quietly by myself and take a photo of the Christmas tree. Had a lovely chat with Beryl.
H. B.
An oasis of calm in the city. Whether you go and visit King Richard, learn about history, admire the stained glass windows, pray or just sit and contemplate you will be made to feel welcome by calm and friendly clergy and volunteers. Leave feeling at peace and refreshed.
G. H.
Not much like a typical cathedral as it was converted in the 1920s from the parish church. The main attraction is the tomb of Richard III but we could not get near it as there was a party of school children surrounding it with another waiting to replace them.
B. F.
England has many great Medieval cathedrals, but Leicester's is not one of those. Nonetheless, Leicester Cathedral makes the most of it's organic church-turned-cathedral by offering an intimate and lived in space that feels open to the city, like it's place a passerby is actually meant to be. Wood ceilings painted in the Medieval style help conjure it's history, as does of course the tomb of Richard III. Leicester Cathedral has the royal distinction of being the only church beside Westminster Abbey to house the grave a post-conquest English monarch
J. T.
Quite underwhelmed. I went to visit Richard 3rd final resting place although the tomb is simple and dignified the cathedral is smaller than I thought it would be and not quite what I expected for a former king of England.
L. H.
Lovely cathedral, small compared to some. Interesting to the grave of Richard 111.
N. B.
Coming from Middleham to visit Richard III's tomb was a must. A small Cathedral which has done a great job for this King with an additional display close to the font.
Very well done and close to other displays about Richard III, and no charge!
A. B.
What a little gem. Not only the tomb of Richard III but much more beside. It's free to go in which is very welcome so you are happy to make a donation as you leave. Nice cafe next door as well
N. M.
Site of Richard III's tomb. Well worth spending some time here. There has been a church here since Saxon times and a Roman temple before that. Very helpful volunteers will tell you all about it.
M. S.
A beautiful cathedral. The history around Richard 3rd is interesting. There was a very thought provoking art exhibition about northern Ireland.
P. H.
Go and see the Museum of the Moon (it’s back again) and King Richard III reinterment tomb - next door is the fantastic Guildhall the oldest standing building in the city and it is opposite the award winning King Richard III (KRIII) Visitor Centre just a short walk across the beautiful Cathedral Gardens
T. W.
A good historic landmark well worth a visit.
R. K. A.
I really liked it here. Nice place to visit and very informative, especially now they found the old King Richard 3rd.
Beautiful stained glass windows, peaceful atmosphere and delightfully helpful guides.
D. M.
Wonderful cathedral, very helpful and informative staff. Must also see the Richard the third exhibit just about 100yds away. The tea shop is surprisingly reasonable
S. G.
One of the nicest cathedral in Leicester, with full history. It's a must visit for all.
M. T.
An intimate spiritual place, quiet enough for contemplation, yet welcoming enough as a meeting place for all. Enjoy a packed lunch in the Cathedral gardens or visit the final resting place of King Richard III.
C. P.
Richard III has a respectful & honourable resting place here at Leicester Cathedral. A beautiful building with a family of Peregrine Falcons soaring above the Spire. A visit here is essential for all Ricardians
C. h. 2.
Fantastic .Good to hear they are renovating some of the cathedral for a shopping centre
M. G.
This is the final resting place of Richard lll, the last of the Plantagenet kings (whether you think he was a usurper and murderer or not). His original grave is just across the street about 100 yards away. Otherwise a fairly ordinary provincial cathedral.
L. H.
It may not be as grand in scale as its mother churches at Canterbury or York but a visit to the Leicester Cathedral area make a good day out. Contains the tomb of King Richard III which is of course on public display. It is directly opposite the King Richard III visitor centre. Helpful guides will happily answer any questions. The cathedral is only a few minutes walk from Grey Friars, where the last of the plantagenets was famously discovered in 2012. It also neighbours the historic Leicester Guildhall.
S. C.
Very friendly helpful guides. See where King Richard is now resting
P. F.
Fantastic little Cathedral and the final resting place of Richard III.
D. M.
Full of history , beutiful architecture
m. t. (.
Place you have to see if you visit a Leicester. Beautiful architecture and place where is the body of last English king who died on the battlefield with his sword in his hand. The resting place of the King Richard III last of the Plantagenet dynasty.
M. R.
Not the biggest Cathedral, or the most spectacular, I've been to but the Richard III tomb was surprisingly moving. City centre parking isn't cheap but it's also a relatively quickly visit if the Cathedral is your main reason to visiting.
B. L. B.
It's come a long way since the revamp, a pleasing place to mull and meander about. A great area for a lunch break with a clean aesthetic and quiet vibe.
B. T.
We visited for the Richard III angle and were not disappointed. His final resting place and the pall were wonderful. They were simple and highly effective, with wonderful craft man ship. And two modern in style stained glass windows dedicated to Richard III. Which all three of us found quite breath taking in there beauty. The lay staff we found were knowledgeable (they helped us find the qwerky reference to Leicester city Football Club in the stained glass window) and very help full to me. I am in a wheelchair and found accsess easy. The signs in the cathedral were short and informative.
On the hour there are no more admittions for five minutes for prayers to take place. A reminder of the function of the place its self.
Also had a very nice soup in the White Rose Caffee next door.
S. W.
Active community. My son was part of the choir for several years and gained an excellent musical education. Always something going on, involvement in social justice and the rights of immigrants and have a heart for God and prayer.
V. H.
If, like me you haven't been to Leicester for some time, you will be most pleasantly surprised as they have spent a great amount of money sprucing up the town.
Everyone has read about the finding of King Richard 111's remains in the Leicester car park. Now you can see his new resting place under Swaledale fossil stone from North Yorkshire. A fitting tribute for the last King of the House of York.
I found my visit to this medieval Church most enlightening.
BTW- This year Leicester is having it's first Christmas market.
I was told that this year they are having their first Christmas Market, so it is a very good time to visit.
M. P.
Lovely interesting place to visit Richard 3rd is buried here
D. B.
Nice cathedral, we went to see the moon exhibition. The giant moon was impressive but would have been better with music and visual display of the phases.
T. W.
Well worth a visit if you're in the Leicester vicinity. Cathedral staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, King Richard the third is there too, but he doesn't say much nowadays.
S. C.
Wow. Great to see the moon arrive for its second visit to leic cathedral. Richard 111 always in residence. Peaceful serene. Good people here.
A. H.
Love some of the comments on here... apparently Richard IIIs tomb looks too modern, maybe thats cos its only 3 years old?? Lovely place to visit, make sure to visit the Guildhall and Richard III centre at the same time.
S. Q.
Saw the moon museum here. Amazing
J. J.
Lovely cathedral. Saturday afternoon was orchestra practice. Great exhibition going on inside also . Very interesting.
N. C.
Situated in a nice, quaint little corner of Leicester it made for a nice detour popping over to the cathedral to see the tomb of Richard III before having lunch in Leicester. There are people around who will tell you some of the history of the cathedral/tomb too.
P. W.
Leicester cathedral is interesting because it is a newish cathedral at around 100 years old. It also has the tomb of Richard lll. The welcomers are very friendly
b.
Friendly hosts, rotating exhibitions, interesting cultural space as well as religious story with explained symbols. Occasional cultural events are hosted there, as well as Christian Church services.
S. L.
If you love the Plantagenet era of England's history, then Leicester cathedral is well worth a visit. Here lie the bones of the last Plantagenet King of England who died at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.

Interesting building. Unusually warm for a Cathedral. Make much if Richard the third. Some beautiful stained glass windows
C.
A small cathedral just by the city centre where Richard the third was re-interred. I believe this is the first church I've been to where the choir is behind the congregation. It is also the smallest cathedral church I've ever seen.

Interesting cathedral. The tomb of King Richard III does justice to the man, and is overlooked by 2 modern stained glass windows that do justice to the building.
