Having spent money on architect’s fees on a project in a different borough only for planning permission to be turned down, I was keen not to repeat my mistake. We used Adara to advise on what would be accepted, draw up plans and submit. Our plans were approved with only the most minor of amendments, which were handled smoothly and quickly. Dominic and Michael were available and responsive throughout, and clearly know what they are doing. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

I contacted ADARA regarding issues I was having with Barnet’s planners over my new house. We designed a modern detached house but the pre-application response from Barnet Council was negative. I arranged a free consultation with one of ADARA’s planners (Dominic) who had previously worked for Barnet as a senior planning officer and he understood exactly what the issues were and how to fix them. Dominic’s suggestions helped improve the design and the new house has now been granted planning permission while still keeping a modern look that we wanted. On searching for an Architect with knowledge of the inner workings of Barnet Council I found ADARA via a Google search. We have a corner plot in Barnet and before committing to building a 2 storey extension we wanted to find out if we would have a chance of applying for planning permission for a detached dwelling on the same plot with the aim of selling the property to maximise the profit and potential of the land. Prior to calling I did some due diligence via LinkedIn and I could see that the Director had recently spent 4 years in a senior role with Barnet Council’s Planning Department. On speaking to Dominic I found him extremely helpful, knowledgeable and honest. He advised us that in his opinion after reviewing a pre-planning application we received from the Council we would have an extremely slim chance of gaining permission and if we were lucky it would be via a lengthy appeal process. He offered the assistance of a CAD draughtsmen he works with who made a very competitive quote if we decided to move forward with a design and lodge an application. In the end we decided to go with with the extension and he also fielded some questions we had on modifying our existing plans and gave advice on the best route to get these changes made. Overall I would recommend ADARA to anyone looking to achieve planning permission in Barnet and realise the potential of your plot.
