Reviews of Quay Arts
S.
We chose Quay Arts as our wedding venue this Summer and it was absolutely everything we dreamed of and more. The staff were incredible, helping the day run smoothly so we could enjoy our big day together stress free. Del was great every step of the way, letting us know that we were free to have the day run just the way we wanted, and communicated with the vendors which made planning the wedding very easy on our side. The food was amazing and we had many compliments from our guests who had enjoyed both the meal and the buffet in the evening. Overall, just a wonderful experience for us and we're both so thankful to the whole team for making sure the day was special.

Had a great visit, the staff were very friendly. They have a Poppy wall in the cafe for armistice day which is really beautiful. Have a latte they are delicious 😋
R. W.
Pleasant cafe in the art centre. I ordered a chicken, bacon and mayo sandwich, expecting a pasty mush between two slices of bread. What I got was two huge hunks of beautiful warm brown bread, thick slices of chicken and whole slices of bacon! Top marks.
Toilets need TLC tho. Not dirty, but very grubby in a should-have-been-redecorated-a-decade-ago sort of way.
I. D.
Lovely location and a beautiful building. Dropped in as I waited for my car MOT and had a pot of tea and an epic Courgette and avocado cake! Chilled atmosphere and friendly staff - spot on!
a. w.
Went here for the Gin festival, held in late September. Really enjoyed the afternoon, as it was well organised and very friendly. The centre is well run with many events planned. Visitors can sit outside on the terrace, watching the river flow by.
E. B.
Attended the IW Tattoo Convention (02/10/22)
Friendly staff. Foods and drinks were fairly priced.
Fairly small venue, could have been set out a little bit better, as there was a lot crammed in one room, and not much in another room which had a lot of empty space.
Unfortunately, the sinks in the women's toilets needed a good clean, they looked like they hadn't been properly done in a while.
L.
An amazing and versatile venue. With beautiful and creative collection of arts , with genres changing, there's always something new to discover. And then there's the events ! From music to comedy nights to weekend events . And don't forget the gift shop and cafe / bar!
C. U.
Quay Arts offers art exhibitions in the galleries, drawing classes in the theatre, and has a nice cafe beside the river serving food and hosting events.
G. A.
Lovely evening watching 'Make some Noise'.
Shame our lunch yesterday was so dire! Tomato soup which was watered down & tasteless. Couldn't recommend for food, I'm afraid. ☹️
K. B.
We held our wedding reception here. From planning to function we had so much help especially from 'Lucy'. The buffet we chose was nicely presented and plentiful. The lady coordinating everything on our day was brilliant and made everyone welcome. A very characterful venue and relaxed atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend .
a. w.
Lovely place and reasonably priced, great venue for parties
A. S.
Nice place on the waterfront. Some good vegan options and good service. There was quite a wait for food, but we were told this
M. T.
Just wonderful - staff, food, beer, music, ambience, the whole shebang.
If you've not been, go.
If you have, you already know why.
M.
Lovely cafe, and a great venue for a variety of live, local music
A. S.
The Arts Centre has a nice riverside cafe with an outside patio, was table service only, staff were great.
A. R.
Unexpected evening out to see some live music , nice venue , reasonably priced.
A. M.
Great place. Kept clean throughout the evening by staff, quite a few young children eating and playing. Went to a friends wedding reception here.
Staff polite and helpful.
K. B.
One of my favourite places, ❤ and what a gorgeously warm day
T. H.
We didn't went inside but the view is nice.
N.
Fair price food and drink, fast friendly services too!!
We stopped for a nibble and drinks and weren't disappointed.
There was mainly one person running around and he was serving 8-12 tables without any problems and cleaning them as soon as they was vacant. They take cleaning very seriously too.
They have a button thing on the table that calls the servers to you when you need them, which works very well.
The FOOD, we ordered a nibble....a meat platter to share...£12:50.... well I let the pic show you, great value.
Nice location and the whole building has things going on.
Well worth a visit.
A. L.
A great venue for the arts, lovely food and the staff are very welcoming.
S. B.
Great food, nice location very friendly staff
B. H.
This place is fantastic. Great food, lovely atmosphere in cafe and the events are great too. I recommend a visit if you're in town. Free parking outside or 2.5hrs for free at Curry's car park.
d. b.
Main art gallery on the Island and a great live music venue with a very varied program. Over the years I've seen artist ranging from Mongolian Rock, Opera, Tibetan Monks making a Sand Mandala, Hurdy Hurdy duo, and most recently Cara Dillon. A good range of events are also held in the Cafe.
J. R.
Never been before, clean and good level of staffing. Service was prompt, delivery of food quick.
L. M.
Most excellent venue for events.. even the TARDIS visited...
D. B.
Great coffee shop, polite and efficient staff....comfortable seats we all had a great time!

This is a gem of a place, cool clear day transformed into a very warm sheltered lunch. Fantastic economical fare, both food and staff well presented. Nice little find and only minutes walk from the town centre
s. b.
Great cake and coffee, helpful staff and a we equipped meeting centre. Thank you. Love the shop
L. B.
Art gallery and shop wonderful. Location of cafe beautiful but service in cafe incredibly slow. Even when reminded we were waiting and were on a parking meter it was slow. The cafe wasn't busy so if you have plenty of time and patience give it a go.
N. S.
Had a lovely visit here with the kids as part of the story telling festival. Staff were great and it's always a great place for a coffee and a mooch in the shop.
P. N.
Great cake with wheat free options and vegan choices.
R. W.
Great venue, events, classes and cafe. Awesome gift shop and well worth popping into.
M. P.
Went for an evening function, good choice of drinks at the bar at reasonable prices. Good space for a function of around 50-100 people.
S. S.
Wonderful food, good prices. Has a sweet little theatre, display of great art work by locals. Entrance comes into a shop that sells locally made it items which make super souvenirs at good prices with some unusual things as well. Sits on the water so can eat outside overlooking nice a view. Just a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours or more. Serves lovely sunday lunches includes meals for vegans and vegetarians with music to make you feel relaxed.
J. M.
A place of culture. It immerses you in the art experience and delivers the most amazing gigs! Just go!
K. M.
Really nice place, we always sit outside, the staff are friendly and helpful. We've only eaten cakes and snacks here but they were good quality. 🙂
E. D.
Lovely lunch spot., excellent fresh ingredients and enjoyed outlook . Happy to recommend to others
C. B.
Knowledgeable friendly helpful staff who care. Tidy & niche #Arts #Centre for the Isle of Wight to be proud of.
I. M.
Nice cafe with a good menu
G. S.
It's a good clean place e to meet up for coffee drinks or something to eat. There is always something going on .The outside space is pleasant with views over the Medina. I went to the cinema which is intimate, the seats are a little cramped, so if you need room for long legs get the front row
L. M.
Perfect place for mums with prams as there's plenty of room, high chairs, children's menu and excellent service.
C. D.
Lovely service. Had the soup for 3 occasions now and it's always super tasty flavours. Nice place to visit
A. L.
The restaurant has good fresh food with lots of vegetables..the soup was certainly homemade and the salads with fresh leaves very lightly dressed. After midday they have a longer daily menu. One can sit inside or outside on the terrace. Social Distancing is very much respected. The shop has superb craft work for every pocket, especially pottery. There are also cloths, scarves and table mats.
C. J.
I visited twice in seven days as the first visit was so good. Staff and the food were absolutely top drawer. The first time was with my 19 year old son and the second with my Wife.
Dale and his team have hospitality down to a tee. We can't wait for the Quay Arts to open fully so that we can get to experience and enjoy the live entertainment that we crave.
W.
Excellent outside area. Me and my friends sat out there by the river for hours, luckily they have a great bar with various selection of drinks. Including a few niche lagers and Ales. We didn't try the food, but what we saw coming out to other people looked excellent too.
d. c.
Beautiful location, 2 car parks next to the Centre, lovely food and drinks, pleasant staff and my brother attends a group here and the space for it was fantastic! Really excellent atmosphere and experience
S. H.
Customer service is very good. However. The food took a while, a bit strange when they were salads. The view and the environment is the best and can't be topped up.
r. l.
Shame about the millennial middle class coffee; a quality instant serves me well I find.
Apart from that minor whinge I find Quay Arts a lovely place.
Great music and exhibition venue, polite and helpful staff.
E. J.
Perfect spot for lunch. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m here!
S. B.
Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful crafty shop.walk over the bridge to a super cafe with an outdoor balcony over the river. Great homemade food.Plenty of vegetarian options. Good coffee. Highly recommended.
T. M.
Very cute café, always great exhibitions happening; a fantastic place for creativity to blossom and for a decent cuppa. And not to mention the lovely view if you sit outside! Would definitely recommend.
C. M. (.
Went to see the fabulous Roddy Bootom on Saturday 19th March. Great show, cool venue and bar
B. B.
Cycled non-stop from Cowes and in need of a rest I found this well-hidden little gem of a cafe for a pot of tea, a flapjack, and a place to park my bicycle.
Helpful and courteous staff settled me at a table from where I could observe fellow cafe-goers. Pre-teenage daughters having a school holiday early lunch with mum. Older daughters gossiping with mum, or grandparents over coffee. A beautiful young lady laughing with her attentive beau, and two elderly gents in earnest conversation about cricket contributed to a civilized ambiance that was quintessentially English.
The refreshing tea and flapjack were good too.
The only fear I have is that it will be spoiled by becoming too well-known or popular.
F.
Didn't visit but lovely location and looks inviting.
D. T.
Nice spot in Newport. Seem to have a decent selection of beer on offer, better than a lot of pubs actually. Not bad. The canal-side location added a nice charm to the outside area.
K. C.
Went here for tea and cake, an afternoon refreshment break. Uncrowded, promt and pleasant service, riverside seating if desired.
Seek it out,well signposted
D. B.
Sat on their terrace in the sun, this has to be one of the nicest spots in Newport for a coffee. There's always something to watch and it always seems to be booked out so that must say something. The architecture of the building always appeals to me and if you like a cake there's a fair selection of them too. Enjoy and relax, just out of the main town.
C. D.
The punk art exhibition was good and very interesting and the cafe was lovely but the lift didn't work properly and no-one came to our rescue so my elderly father had to walk up and down the stairs. I'm sure once they get the lift sorted it will be well worth another visit.
S. L.
Super breakfast on their sunny Riverside terrace
C. H.
As clean efficient, friendly as ever...and good value.
g. H.
Lovely setting by the canal side. Friendly service and varied drinks and food menu, vegan options too! . 👍
S. C.
Very friendly, good for taking children too. Cafe has soya milk which is handy. Exhibitions upstairs change regularly and are always interesting. Saturday mornings usually have a free film for children too. Plenty of parking nearby.
T. B.
Good light food. Pleasant atmosphere. Deck area on the harbour is great for relaxing. Good variety of art/craft exhibitions and music events. Licenced too !
B. W.
Lovely day spent at the music for Ukraine. Good and drinks lovely as ever.
J. P.
Various art exhibitions. Good quality items on sale in the shop. There is a theatre but the seats are pretty tight. If you have long legs you need an aisle seat. Plenty of car parks nearby.
A. M.
Welcoming and relaxed place for lunch, meetings or coffee. Not the cheapest but quality products make it worthwhile. Lots of activities llincluding free films. Excellent LGBT+ night once a month- free entry.
D. M.
A good venue, place to relax with a coffee or to have an afternoon meal. Quay arts is warm and welcoming, always having something to see in the galleries and gifts to browse in their shop. The Morrocan dinner option is good though I feel they should change the theme every month.
M. C.
Attended an excellent production by origins theatre company. Underneath reflections. Very hard hitting and so in tune with recent events. Multi ability cast encompassing all aspects of society and the problems faced by us all. Well done all
P. S.
Only had coffee and a hot chocolate but based on that it was very good.
J. F.
The cultural Hub of the Island. A great venue for Galleries, Music, Drama, Dance, Crafts. Also an excellent Café with a varied menu. There are certainly some talented individuals contributing to this highly recommended Arts Centre.
I. G.
Nice laidback bistro, however, slightly lacking in atmosphere. The food is delicous, although slightly pricey and limited menu. I had a BLT sandwich which was delightful, particualry the beautiful artisan bread.
The shop is lovely with lots on offer from local artists and the staff in the gift shop are particularly friendly and welcoming.
H. H. L. I. o. W.
Doing a live drawing course and loving it !

D. F.
Had a Christmas fayre but items quite expensive. No seats in cafe to have a drink as busy
B. P.
Me and the wife enjoy coming and she likes to sit down and have a coffee and it is a very relaxing place to do so it is not really a place for young children as they do seem to be quite disruptive and mine are a prime example for this can be nice to go for a walk up stairs and show the children what is around and give the wife 10 minutes break
G. J.
Went for drink and draw evening. A delightful get together. Very nice place with a varied selection of beverages and excellent food
R. F.
We were a party of five. We all enjoyed our food and drink. The atmosphere was pleasant and although the place was full we were served quite quickly. I would go again.

A really interesting place to visit with a wide variety of things going on, there are interests to suit most people and a visit to the cafe/bar with a wide selection of vegetarian and vegan food is well worth it just on it's own.
C. R.
Nice setting, food good, but service is very hit and miss.que can be lengthy as only ever one person making the posh coffee. Bring back filter coffee, but then they can't charge as much for that
L. S.
A great cultural resource for the Isle of Wight with theatre, concerts, film, art exhibitions and a very good restaurant/bar. Run with tireless dedication by the manager, Paul, who us not afraid to try new things.

Disappointed was expecting some crafts being done here but just a shop and some of the products weren't even from the island. Lovely coffee shop though and nice to sit outside by the inlet.
