We are in the process of re-modelling our house, including changing the exterior of the property, building a porch, knocking through to join rooms and replacing a cold rear conservatory with a single story extension. Initially we discussed this project with four architectural practices, with AN being the last. We chose Architecture North for two reasons. Firstly, at our initial meeting we sensed a genuine enthusiasm from Lewis and Adam for our project. This is the only time that we've done something like this before and Lewis was able to articulate our aims very clearly. My wife is Finnish and we are looking for our house to be Northern European in style. Lewis really took on board that we're not trying to replicate Scandinavia in the East Midlands, but elements like functionality and natural materials are important to us, and that we don't feel at all constrained by quirks of British houses. The second reason is that we felt that the whole process was clear and transparent. In the initial quote we new exactly what was required and when payments were to be made. This was very reassuring as we were quite cautious about some of the other quotes that were less clear. Lewis and the team have developed a design that matches exactly what we want. They showed creativity and the final solution for the outside of the property is exciting, contemporary and not something that we would have come up with ourselves. Finally, we have planning permission. This was a long process with delays at Nottinghamshire Council. However, Lewis kept us up to date and hurried the council along where he could. We're excited to be at the next stage of the design process and would recommend Aricheture North highly.

From meeting the team, they put your needs into a Dieter Rams-esque design sensibility to our proposal, showing your design through models, which you can wear glasses to see the full design through to pictures and floor plans, which enables you to understand your design. With their technical ability they submitted our drawings to planning with complete ease. A very easy and professional process, and we would highly recommend them.

Great helpful team they are very professional and caring to, I've contacted Architecture North Ltd. Lewis the director got me an appointment and listen to what I wanted to do which is an extension on my house he explained everything to me and came around the house got the measures of the property and submitted the application on my behalf to and we got a positive result with a planning permission for that granted from nottingham council which is great news. Lewis then contacted me to appoint an construction engineer and a building inspector everything is arranged by Architecture North Ltd. I would recommend Architecture North Ltd. We wanted to add another bedroom to our house so we could have a spare bedroom. Plus we thought we could extend the ground floor by adding an tension to improve our kitchen space. We invited Lewis to visit my property where he attended for a free consultation, where he listened to the details of what I want to achieve whilst going on a tour of the whole house, garden included, he presented us with a sketch that in just a few minutes me and my husband were sold. He was able to transmit clearly innovative ideas and colourful suggestions on how we could improve our family home. Lewis was able to provide us with a professional service whilst giving us invaluable tips on how we could create much needed storage solutions and improve the flow and luminosity including roof lights and changing our roof pitch of a multi-use space, for my whole family to enjoy, whilst also tying in the existing bathroom into the rear elevation by increasing the headlight and including a rear window which fills the room into much needed natural lighting. Listening to Lewis describe how to improve our home with such an unrivalled passion and attention to detail was uplifting and encouraging for our project. He was extremely supportive and understanding. I don’t think our project would be completed without him.

We encountered architecture north at the beginning of a tricky project, building four large detached houses with subterranean accommodation. we were recommended to them by our selected basement contractor. Our architect at the time had failed to provide the information required and had gone into meltdown. We had four big holes in the ground and we’re getting no where fast!! Lewis met with me at short notice and jumped to the job in hand providing all the info some fairly technical. He has supported us through the build and made good suggestions and overcome some tricky situations with warranty providers. He is easy to deal with and takes a real interest in your project. I think he is well priced and always delivers what is promised. Good work architecture north.

I needed planning permission to convert our garage, along with a rear/side extension for an open plan kitchen/dining and lounge space for our pool table and upstairs a bedroom with ensuite and home office. As I have never done this before I decided to use a professional service. I contacted Architecture North who visited promptly and gave me good advice and suggestions. I then subsequently engaged them to submit the planning application. I had good communications throughout the procedure and as a result I would highly recommend them to anyone requiring this type of service. Their help has been fantastic, advising us on the interior layouts, and assisting with the kitchen design, enabling us to keep parts of our kitchen and extending it making it look it was part of the original design. I would highly recommend them. My application was subsequently approved. Our builder found an un expected steel beam within the lost space, but Lewis and his team had already taken into account an additional beam as he surveyed the the space, this was such a relief at the time. Building an extension is stressful but Lewis and his team were so helpful and polite throughout the whole process. Thank you!

They came to see me at my request and explained the best way to create an extension on my property, whilst listening and understanding how our family worked.
