Fields were able to restore the data (all but one file) and load it onto an new drive and safely deliver it back to me within a week. I did consider making this a 4 star review as the cost was fairly substantial, and quite surprising. However the service was good and friendly at all times, and I got my data back which was the overriding objective.

After shopping around a bit online, i decided to go with Fields and i was glad i did. Not only were the slightly cheaper than other quotes i received, but they also managed to recover about 90% of the files that were on there, and provided me with a new hard drive to replace the damaged one. The process was easy and i had my replacement delivered to my door only a few days after sending away my damaged one, i would highly recommend their service.

They then got back to me with an itemised list of all of my files, which I opened on another computer. The layout of which is as you would expect from file explorer. On this occasion I actually did not proceed, a decision I was able to make with all the facts after seeing the files. I had the most important files already backed up. It is truly no obligation to get the quote, and you'll receive no pressure to move forward either. Highly recommended.

The team were open with me about likelihood of recovery dependent on issue identified; arranged for pick up of hard drive and gave prompt response on issues and ability to achieve success and what costs. Gave sufficient time for me to consider if wanted to proceed without pressuring. I had all data extracted and placed on new external hard drive. Have been using now last 5 months with no issues. Long version:
Fields Data Recovery saved me :)
I was DISTRAUGHT when my USB pen randomly corrupted on March 1st and I lost all my files (pushing 20,000) including my university work and photos, memories etc. My laptop would kinda identify that a USB was plugged in but would not display the USB's name or any of its files - weird and frustrating. I'd relied on memory pens for 10+ years and they had never ever failed me before :( so I didn't have any backups of my files. Tears were shed.

I took the USB to my local PC guy who scanned it, saw it needed soldering and admitted he would likely destroy it if he attempted to fix it. I then tried my luck taking it to a different PC guy who recommended that I try 'Fields Data Recovery', stating that it ain't cheap but he has seen people very happy with them before.
So, I gave it a shot, and on 8th March went to the Fields website and gave them my details.
They rang the next day to discuss my needs, confirmed in emails, and I posted my USB straight to their main Cardiff place (he explained on the phone that if I sent it to my nearest Fields base in Birmingham they would only send it on to Cardiff anyways, which would waste time). They completed a diagnosis of my pen drive and sent me a link on Friday 12th March to a 'lab report' containing the names of the 43GB of files that they believed they could recover. It was quite a relief to see the list of familiar file names that I thought I may have lost forever.
I agreed to pay the fee over the phone and they then set to work recovering the data. I felt lucky to be in a position to afford it.
It was only then that I thought to look up reviews and became worried when I saw a few bad reviews calling it a sc@m - BUT I CAN VOUCH IT IS LEGIT.
Fields sent me a dropbox link on Monday 15th March containing my recovered files, but after a whole day of attempting to download the HUGE file with my pitiful 12Mb/s WiFi speed and using up the rest of my family's internet access (where is 5G in 2021?!), I was in despair that I would never see my files and had thrown away so much money. However, I rang Fields somewhat tearily to explain that I could not access the Dropbox files, and they agreed to send me my data on a new USB stick in the post. It arrived swiftly and ALL MY DATA WAS ON THERE!
It was an extremely stressful time for me but Fields made it a very quick process: a mere week after first contacting them I had all my data back :) Thank you Fields.

A. H.When a hard drive with important data, backed up a little too infrequently, fails, it is a very stressful time. Fortunately, I found Fields Data Recovery and I gave them a call to get a little more detail.
They were incredibly helpful on the phone giving me all the info I could have needed, then I sent the drive into them and they got to work. Their team was in regular contact with me letting me know how everything was going and after a day or two they called me to tell me they had gotten it. They sent me a list of everything they found and then final quotes on retrieving the data onto a new drive.
At this point, even after they had done that work, I could have refused and they would have returned my drive to me at no charge, but of course we proceeded and by the end of the week I had my original drive back, plus a brand new hard drive with a complete backup of everything I thought I had lost.
Could not recommend them more, it was a great service and gave me peace of mind over an otherwise very stressful situation.

External Hard-Drive crashed. Potentially losing 1.5TB data. A. A.I lost films, music, photos and documents on my 1TB hard drive that just stopped working.
However, on contacting Data Recovery Service, their professionalism, speed and ease of use soon put my mind to rest and at no point was I pressured into using them.
They had my hard drive picked up (DHL) and within a short space of time, emailed me to tell me data was recoverable and showed me the files on my hard drive were still there.
I could have , at that point, just asked for my hard drive back at absolutely no cost.
I went on to have them recover said files transfer on to a completely new 1tb drive and all at a single cost, which saved me time, energy and faffing around.
Fast and efficient, (again via DHL) my new fully recovered files were back! In their new enclosure and they even called to make sure all was good and to suggest I remembered to back them up, just in case.

Returned email to say to not do anything else as I could not afford. Day later, a call with a reduced price, something I could afford. Within hours, email of links to download all files, 2 week window for 160 gig. All downloaded no problem. Very happy with what was recovered, maybe 2% unreadable from head crash, but nothing really important. 2 weeks later, drive returned and follow up call asking if all was OK.. Very easy to contact, will certainly use again. Very professional. Highly recommended.

I had an external disc that most companies said had data that would be lost forever and wouldn't touch, but these guys performed wonders, after a secure pick up of my disc i got a call a few days later to say that they felt they could recover approx 95% of my data, with a costing, which i thought was fair enough considering the amount of work i had lost and how precious the files were! My external hard drive completely crashed with lots of sensitive data, I was so stressed out and ran checks on the hard-drive, unfortunately, nothing happens!. It was worth it in the end, as I had 15 years of living memories, you certainly cannot put a price on these. We experienced a ransomware attack in our company just before Christmas. Every file on our file servers were lost (millions of them) and it was business critical to get them back. We got in touch with Fields Data Recovery in hope they could recover our lost data and they did not disappoint.
Within the day they had responded to our enquiry. All our questions were answered and the service was explained thoroughly before arranging collection of our file servers. Within 48 hours of the files being collected we were provided with detailed information of what can be recovered (which in our case looked to be everything). We proceeded with the service and within another couple of days the files were recovered and ready to be shipped back to us. Considering the timing of all this happening over the Christmas period we were concered it would take ages to get our data back but it only took 4 working days from sending the files to the data being recovered and about a week in total until we received them. The service was very fast and efficient.
The staff professionalism was just as good as the service. We were kept informed and updated regularly by the chief engineer and he was really helpful in answering any questions we had.
We've been using the recovered files for a couple of months now and are very confident all our data was recovered. Hopefully this never happens to us again but if we do lose data in the future we won't hesitate to use Fields Data Recovery again. Highly recommended.
P. K.An old drive, from some time ago, with mainly nostalgic stuff on it. But I'd held onto it, and it was something I wanted to get back. It wasn't cheap but, for me, worth it. After enquiry, they offered to courier pickup (at no extra cost) and I had my list promptly. Once I agreed to proceed, I had access to my photos and data within a couple of weeks. Very happy with the service received.
T. H.A friend of mine who is a plumber was not very computer 'savvy' and had not backed up his computer since 2006 ! He had all his company data on there (quotes, invoices, templates etc etc).
A couple of weeks ago, the inevitable happened and his hard drive failed. I can fix computers but I do not have the environment or equipment to fix hard drives - they really are very specialist.
I looked around for a data recovery specialist and was drawn to Fields Data Recovery because they have a really good rating on Trust Pilot.
The experience has been extremely good from start to finish. The staff are really helpful and friendly. I was allocated a manager for my job (Dan) and they arranged pickup of the drive on the same day it failed.
Dan gave me an update virtually every day on how the job was proceeding. A new part was needed from Holland so they ordered it up and had it sent over. Note that at this time, no commitment to pay anything has been made.
After the initial investigation, I was give ball park figures on what it would cost. My friend was happy to pay to get his data back.
Once the part arrived, it only took a day to get it fitted and to our relief, all the data was successfully recovered.
I was sent a dropbox link and was able to download all the data and put it on a new drive for my friend. Needless to say, he's over the moon. It would have seriously hurt his business if he had lost this data.
I received a final call to make sure all the data was OK. These guys go the last mile.
So, you won't go wrong with these guys. If you find yourself in the un-happy situation of having a hard drive failure or some other data lost, this is where to come.
Finally, I must stress that I am in no way linked with the company or it's staff. I just wanted to share the experience because sadly, it's rare these days to receive such brilliant service.
P. H.My husband used Field Data Recovery when his hard drive failed, it was very quickly and efficiently dealt with and the full data was recovered in a short time frame enabling him to complete the training event he was due to deliver.
It was extremely good service although it was not cheap it enabled recovery of many many hours of work which was maintained on that hard drive.

D. D.Excellent service, I was kept informed at every step. I delayed things myself by thinking I had sent the wrong parts, but just after I had posted the additional stuff I realised my error.
Within a few days I was told what the problem was, and the cost of the work. when the files had been recovered (it had been a mechanical failure) I was provided with a list of what data was available, and I was pleased that virtually everything was there. As it contained personal photos going back about 10 years (amongst other things) I was anxious to recover what I could.
I was then given the option of media the data was to be transferred by, and I opted for a 1Tb drive at a slightly higher cost, but with plenty more 'headroom' for further files. This arrived within a couple more days so in a very short time I was back up and running.
The cost was about the same as another firm I have used in the past, so a word of warning - data recovery in general is expensive!
I am now seriously considering buying a NAS drive with RAID capabilities for the 4 computers and 2 iPhones in my house!

J. M.When one of my customers brought his Surface Pro in which would not boot, and the tag line "I know I should backup regularly but...." I thought he was pretty much out of luck. The Surface in question was a model with the Storage soldered to the main board, so if we couldn't get at the data via conventional means he was bang out of luck. Which is was.
Thankfully, Fields did a great job as usual, performing the evaluation on the unit free of charge, and even removing the chips from the mainboard to reconsustruct the data, before we had to pay a penny.
When they managed to recover the data, the price was very reasonable for such a complext job, and my customer was ecstatic.

I chose Fields Data Recovery to do this for me because they already had a lot of good reviews, and I wanted to do my best to restore all my files. This totalled 794GB, comprising 19 years worth of my irreplaceable photo collection, so I wanted someone I could trust to do this for me.
I found them to be very professional and helpful every step of the way, from the initial (free) lab test and report, through to supplying the recovered data onto a new external drive. Following the lab report, they knew the extent of the damage and were then able to detail the costs of salvaging all my data; there were no nasty surprises.
I have already backed-up the new external disk onto another in order to avoid this happening again, but I recommend them unreservedly.

After the hard drive failed to my backup drive I contacted a few companies with the idea of trying to retrieve my lost data but to no avail and I came across fields data recovery by chance and found them to be extremely helpful and efficient my drive was collected 24 hours later I was given the information on what could be retrieved before I went ahead and approve the retrieval, once completed my information was returned to me I then confirm receipt before they securely deleted their backup.
I would wholeheartedly recommend them and they are cheaper than the thousands of pounds other companies were requesting.

I found this data recovery service very good. My laptop HDD failed on the Monday and after contacting Fields Data Recovery to discuss the options, I removed the HDD from the laptop and sent it to their facility in Bridgend, Wales via recorded delivery. Two days latter I received an email and an integrity report detailing the data that would most likely be recoverable along with a firm price for the recovery. I understand that my HDD had to be reconstructed from spare parts and that allowed approximately 51GB of data to be recovered, the cost of this was £645 excluding VAT. The data was copied to a USB memory stick and returned to me via DHL on the Friday of the following week, the whole process took just under two weeks to complete. I can confirm that all of my important data was successfully recovered.
A note about the cost, whilst it was not possible to obtain a firm quote for the recovery up front I was advised the costs would have a starting figure of £200 and I appreciated that this would most likely rise after Fields Data Recovery had a chance to assess the work required. My advice to any other person with a failed HDD is you will need to weigh up how much the data is worth to you and be aware that any starting figure you may be quoted will most likely rise.
