Reviews of The Cowley Club
P. D.
Anarchist unique jewel of a place, ran entirely by volunteer, slightly disorganised which makes it even better.
You get a soup or a dish of the day (all vegan) and utterly delicious for a few quid, nice music is played and there is a good internet connection. You can browse books, chat to other guests or the lovely staff. It's about having a voice against gentrification, expensive overpriced places. There are sofas also so coffee, tea is available.
They even run English lessons (free) for refugees on Mondays at 1200.
Likely to find it open on Wed Thur and Fri.
Awesome.

Interesting little venue. Went to see a couple of acoustic punk acts, and throughly enjoy my evening. Drinks reasonably priced (for Brighton), nearest car park is London Road, again reasonably priced for Brighton.

One of my favourite bars I've visited! Friendly staff and reasonable pricing :)

My favourite place in town cause I t just feels like home. The Club is definitely a place to be cherished as Brighton’s only diy venue and community centre. So many activities take place at the Cowley and everything is run by volunteers. Amazing gigs, tasty food nights, bar nights while you can meet like minded people. Stop by, ring the bell, a volunteer will open the door for you and GET INVOLVED! This is a safe space!

So many good gigs here. One of my favourite venues in Brighton to go watch an intimate gig. Drinks are cheaper than elsewhere. Friendly and ethical people. So many good memories. Deffo worth coming here if you get a chance to go watch a show. Highly recommended.

Walked past this place so many times as I wasnt sure, really good vegan food, suprise! Very reasonable prices.
Also treated myself and a pal to the handmade chocolates, delicious.
Pretty basic decor wise, polite helpful staff and I love their ethos. They could make more of the place though.

If you like to get off the beaten track with something different the cowley club is a great place. Has a bad rap because its an Anarchists club but you wont find a more reasonably priced place in Brighton for a beer and they put on amazing music nights. Well worth a visit

Was awesome to finally make it down to the sibling club to my homebase of The 1 in 12 club in Bradford, friendly staff, attractive venue. Solid political message is everywhere you look. Hopefully get a chance to call in again <3

Always thought thw cowley club looked really uninviting, until I went in! Lovely warm welcome, great beer and cider on the bar, food smells incredible. Hope to return in the near future.

The cowley club was a fascinating dream that has been realised by a bunch of extremely lovely and really interesting people I've been lucky enough to meet and work alongside. It's an awesome venue for gigs, with good value bar, and has easily one of the best value restaurants in Brighton as well as a library with free internet use, etc. It's a thriving place that beautifully exploits so many community, social and cooperative values, including running English workshops, debates, social events and skills exchanges as well as being the venue of choice for many political groups.

Nice staff, realistic prices, 80p soya milk tea, lots of vegan cakes, and cooked food. Good for all ages of the Community!
