Reviews of Stray Aid Ltd

It's taken us a while to get another dog after the death of our beautiful Bella in May, we felt it was time now. The We went to see Lucy a few days ago and today we brought her home. She got on straight away with our 2 grandpups. She is good on a lead and the we've only had her less than a day we adore her.
The staff at Coxhoe are friendly and helpful and genuinely care for their charges. Why oh why do people get dogs and then just abandon them?
J. C.
The time the staff invest with these animals is incredible. After the death of my dog I contacted them and they responded within the hour. Saw a dog and made appointment to view. The facility is at full capacity and genuinely need support. Can see the donations they get but doesn't seem enough for so many animals. Want to say Thank you to all the staff at Coxhoe shelter for looking after my little boy until I took him home. He's settling in nicely and doing great. Thank goodness for places like this or animals wouldn't have a second chance.
M. B.
We gave a lovely boy called max a home after we came across him on the stray aid website. The cattery staff that we dealt with were great!
D. C.
Great charity, they were collecting outside of my local asda, 2 gorgeous lurchers Trevor and Sally with staff, fell in love with Sally if i had room for Sally(i already have a large lurcher) would definatly have gone down the rehoming route. Fabulous charity keep up the good work folks. Lovely staff to chat with about the dogs.👍😁
Y. D.
Thanks to Stray aid we (my son and myself) have a lovely staffie Mia. Loves cuddles and plenty of walks and attention. A real man's dog but comes to sit on my knee when son is out.

Glad to recommend this place. We have now adopted two dogs over the years and found the staff caring and helpful.

Went for a visit yesterday to meet Lex, German Shepherd.
Appointments must be made owing to Covid but that really wasn't a problem, in fact a little more organised in my opinion.
I got to have a good chat to Lee, the manager, who took time to tell me about strayaid and what they do and also Lex and how he arrived, this gave me a good opportunity to discuss my situation, which I felt Lee listen to and understood.
After, we went outside to a secure meeting area and Lex was brought out. He's a lovely natured German Sheppard, a bit daft but very friendly, it was slightly damp & he smelt of wet dog, I must admit it was lovely 😍
The handler who brought him out was very nice too and clearly connected well with Lex.
I will need to take a few days to decide

Our garden gate was left open recently & our two dogs got out.. 🐶🐶 They were found not far from home & taken to Stray Aid by the Dog Wardens.. As it was the weekend they were closed by the time we found out where our dogs were..
We were contacted the next morning by Stray Aid & collected them from Coxhoe a bit later.
As they had no collars with ID the dogs had to be scanned to find out if they were microchipped.. fortunately they were.. however following a recent house move the contact details were out of date..
Luckily the Wardens were given my new phone number so Stray Aid could contact us..
We were able to have new ID discs (bone shaped) when we collected our little furry friends so will keep their collars/ID on them at all times now.
It was a costly lesson.. but good to know our dogs' ID is up to date & they have their collars/discs to keep them safe..
Thank you Stray Aid 🐶🐕

Lee couldn't have been more helpful. He knew our situation and helped us loads.
S. O.
Fantastic staff, dogs are very well cared for, easy adoption process. Thank you
H. M. T.
Absolutely brilliant. I had to wait three weeks to see if my beautiful stray was claimed - I phoned almost every day. Everyone was so patient with me.
Thank you Stray Aid for all you do.
Thank you for letting Wylfen come home with me.
S. S.
Mate adopted a lovely cross staff yesterday, staff were really helpful. Dog was taken on a walk and intriduced and settled into new home....
P. W.
Excellent helpful staff. They gave us so much time to choose, taking out various dogs.
G. S.
Brilliant place would rather re-home a dog or cat from here than get one from a breeder all animals looked after very well
P. S.
They do amazing job 👍🏼😉
J. G.
I adopted my bull lurcher Rosko.and love him to bits. He's my life. Very friendly staff and very caring towards the rescue dogs. xx
h. s.
I went into the little charity shop at Chester, the ladies were lovely. Sad I missed the dogs. I also rang stray aid for a bit of help with my dogs microchip and the manager was amazing. He really went out of his way to help me and sort the problem that had nothing to do with the charity. Very appreciative
L. B.
Dropped off loads of blankets and towels at the Coxhoe shelter Staff were so pleasant and helpful with us
S.
Got Brian from Stray Aid recently. Great place do a lot for homeless animals. Well worth our support. Please help with food and toys.
C. O.
We adopted a gorgeous little dog from Stray Aid and the staff were very helpful and supportive throughout the process. They totally prepared us to understand what is entailed when adopting a rescue dog and it has turned out amazing. We are now the proud owners of a beautiful little Patterdale terrier.
B. W.
Only visited their website As interested in adopting a dog. Seems to be a caring company. Will definitely keep looking when the right time comes
C. H.
These peeps really look after the dogs that come through their hands, making aure the people wanting to rehome the dogs have the animals best intrests in minds when adopting - bit pricey tho
C. S.
Doing a fantastic job. Help them regularly.
D. W.
Stray aid do a good job with limited resource. Got my first rescue dog from them as have family members.
E. S.
Excellent layed out facility that provides you with the means to meet and greet your potential new forever friend. Many dogs and cats just need a good home and understanding. This place has very friendly staff, good parking facilities and some pet food. If your interested . Have a look on the website as animals change every day, cat and kittens start from £50 adoption . This helps pay for the food.. injection and spading.
S. S.
Nice staff really efficient rehomed Minnie now Gucci lovely bouncy girl settled in very nicely you won't be seeing her back we love her soooooo much
E.
I actually volunteer looking after the cats, and the cattery one of my favourite places to be.
W. T. &. L. C.
Lovely friendly staff and extremely helpful. We were about to leave empty handed as no dogs were suitable then some more enquires were made for us and the next thing our beautiful new girl was brought trotting out to meet us. It was love at first wag!
L. M.
Fabulous atmosphere, friendly staff
d. p.
Support this charity, so worth it, they do a lot!
J. N.
Always really helpful. We took a little Jack Russell who had been found by a neighbour and was really scared. The lady at Stray Aid took lots of time with him until he was completely comfortable with her. You can see the love they have for the animals in their care in the way the staff speak. X
A. B.
Got my dog from here. They seem to do as best they can for the dogs and my dog seemed happy and calm when we returned to drop some bedding off. So I trust he didn't hate it that much when he was there (obviously no one wants dogs in a rehoming kennel but staff seemed lovley to the dogs in their care)
c. h.
Local family run business, great selection of plants and reasonable prices.
N. M.
Amazing place. Rescued a lovely dog and my cousin did as well. Easy to follow the process and all the dogs are vaccinated and neutered. What a joy!
A. M.
Stray Aid is a wonderful charity, my son rescued a dog from them 11 years ago he was such a lovely dog.
P. H.
Good charity to save a dog or cat ...
h. M.
We adopted our best friend from here. Everyone was very helpful and polite we arrived on a late Sunday afternoon, (Hardwick show day) and met our amazing Lurcher. They do amazing things for these lovely pets. ❤❤
I. A.
Plenty of lurcher type dogs. Small place, not able to walk round. You can look at pictures of dogs and ask to see a relevant dog for adoption, adoption fee applies. Please make sure if you have a cat it is able deal with the relationship and dog is friendly with cats. Its heartbreaking to have to return a dog X
K. S.
I met my little lady Mandy today, who has made herself right at home. She is sandwiched in between me and my husband as I write, I have to say all the staff are very nice the dogs are well cared for, one guy lee stood out he shows so much love to the dogs. It's more than just a job to the staff and it shines through. Thank you to everyone that helped us with adopting Mandy.
n. c.
No nonsense kennels with a modern reception area. Hygene and animal management seems to come first which is great to see. Other kennels i have been to leave dogs sat in their own mess whilst they facebook photos of dogs wearing funny hats.
S. B.
They do a really important job rehoming abandoned dogs and cats. All of the staff have the best interests of the animals at heart and do everything they possibly can to look after them and find a new home for them.
j. M.

S. B.
Lovely place if you are looking to adopt a animal they really care about the new home where they will be going to . If you are a lover of animals and can't give them a home you can always donate to stray aid every little bit counts.
H. T.
I lost my elderly German Shepherd on September 18. On September 24 I caught sight of a stray on the council found listing. I've had GSDs for the last 20 years and wanted another Shepherd. I nearly drove my friends and the wonderful staff at Stray Aid mad asking about Wylfen (Tyra).
Four weeks on and Wylfen runs free in the Forest every day. Thank you Stray Aid for allowing me to be Wylfen's person. Thank you for all you did for her. Thank you for all you do for all the dogs.
S. C.
Really friendly helpful staff offering great advice often with little background to go on
Children chose a lovely little dog, who must have started in a good home as she is very well trained, but between then and now has had a terrible time, nothing a little love and affection won't fix an luckily shes found 2 kids with plenty of both shes settled in great
Bit pricey at £200 for a small dog, on one hand its a charity so I know they need funding to carry on doing what they do but they need to bear in mind not putting people off with high prices
J.
Bit of drive for my place, but worth it. Got a lovely dog from them
M. P.
My thanks to all, what a wonderful world when you are reunited with your best friend after a year apart, Millie is back home where she belongs thanks to your team, special thanks to the dog warden who scanned her and gave me the most wonderful news she was found! Don't you just love a happy ending !
J. C.

H. C.
Friendly staff, gorgeous dogs wish i could take them all ☹😍
P. R.
A Charity that rehomes stray and unwanted dogs. That alone deserves praise, however being more specific, they are of a sufficient high standard that they work with most of the local authorities in the region to take in the strays picked up by their Dog Wardens.
F. M.

A. G.
