One needs to prepare before visiting of it's too be helpful in uncovering any family history, but they doing have ample resources, including some unique ones that they've compiled. The library is staffed by helpful volunteers. It's free for members but other users are expected to provide a donation.

Charity runned by volunteers, they offer a wide range of resources and training for genealogical research. They are very helpful and friendly people with tones of information regarding family stories, specially Scottish ones. Located at the very end of Victoria Terrace, while working through there you can enjoy the views of that colourful street but in a calm way by going to the there

Great help in researching your family roots in Scotland. They can't do the work for you but have a huge store of records and knowledge. The volunteers are great about providing help in figuring out where to look next, or to bounce ideas off. Membership is £20/year, which includes 4 editions of their publication as well. This is a great resource for the serious genealogy researcher!
