Lovely place to go to unwind from the hassles of life and there is a fabulous shop selling incense candles books chocolate and more things than I can recall - oh currently they have an Xmas stall selling wonderful handcrafted items.

Friendly people there provide great education, and a nice open area to meet new people and relax your mind

A haven of tranquility in the concrete jungle. They put on de-stress meditation and Buddhism courses. There's a well-stocked bookshop at the entrance, an alternative therapy space and a vegan restaurant in the basement. Have a peek inside, the staff are ever so friendly.

Great yoga lessons, meditation room and cafe with vegan food. Very warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely building, calming environment. Took one of the classes there on a Saturday morning, highly recommend. Little shop inside sells nice things too and has a great veggie cafe underneath

Wonderful centre , met some really nice like minded people here .
The whole experience of learning buddhism in such an organised and peaceful way is a delight .
They practice in a beautiful manner.

Highly recommended. A very open and welcoming place. The drop-in lunchtime meditation sessions during the week are open to all, and alternate in meditation type. There's also one-day or six-week courses you can take - in meditation, or in Buddhism if you like. In fact, there are many classes or drop-ins you can attend, which cater for varying levels of understanding. There's also a bookshop, a common area with kitchen, and a lovely vegan cafe underneath the centre.

The lunchtime meditation is amazing. I feel very welcome here

It's an incredible building with lots going on - however the first time I attended the beginners meditation there was a lot of noise and disturbance going on upstairs. It really distracted me which didn't help with relaxing. It's very popular so if you're looking for something more intimate I would probably recommend going to a smaller beginners class, maybe something local to start off with. The fee is donations only, which I think it quite nice, and perhaps why it's so popular.

This place is a wonderful haven of spirituality in the bustling city centre; and is at risk of closure because of lack of funding. If you can attend the 40-minute (daily) meditation sessions for £6/£4 that would really help them stay open 🦾

I went to the lunchtime meditation class and it was a lovely experience. Class leader for the day was very friendly and did all she could to make new comers welcome and relaxed.
The session itself was what a meditation session should be peaceful, restorative and calming.
I'll definitely drop in again

This is a fantastic and historical building beautifully renovated and turned to new purposes. In the last year the floors in the meditation and yoga rooms have been replaced, so that yoga upstairs no longer disturbs meditation downstairs.

Beautiful, calm....an oasis in the city!

Last Friday I went out in search of Frankincense oil to both cleanse and get some nice smells going around my home after some heavy duty decorating and I stumbled upon the Manchester Buddhist Centre who didnt have what I wanted but, were able to offer me an alternative. In addition to this, I found the perfect incense holder. What I needed was a hot nutrious meal after existing on snacks and bananas all week. Best meal I had all week.
Much love and gratitude to all of the delightful people there. I said I would return and shall do soon for more supplies and great food.x

Did an online body movement course with Padmadarshini which I really enjoyed, it got me out of my comfort zone and put me in an even more comfortable zone. They are great people, thank you so much! <3

Great place, daily drop-in meditation sessions at 1 till 2 anyone welcome, they do ask for a donation of £2-3. An oasis of calm in the middle of the city

The smell of incense hits you as soon as you walk through the doors, along with the cosy wooded interior. A serene and slightly earthy vibe. A nice respite from the bustling city centre.
The Manchester Buddhist Centre offers free taster sessions, courses and various books and Buddhist artefacts. Due to my rather hectic lifestyle, I really haven't taken a course or spent much time in the library-cum-shop. Instead I have been turning up for the biweekly taster classes. Where for a nominal donation of £2 or £3, I've learnt breathing and meditation techniques. Delivered by friendly teachers, who have been enthusiastic, yet very honest about what can and can't be achieved.
Every time I managed to get into a place of relaxation and calm. And, any thoughts that do come into my head during meditation are pleasant and positive rather than stress-inducing. I have also managed to become more cheerful on a day to day basis. I've even worn more colourful clothing. I suspect this is a result of not caring so much about washing, rather than a new love of bright things.
But, and isn't there always a 'but', the only really drawback of these drop in sessions is that they are 'drop in'. Therefore, anywhere from five to thirty people could be in one tiny room. Often squished together and creating what I call 'heavy air' from too many people breathing out. Although a small price to pay for a donation-based drop in session that is more heavy on relaxation than on religion, and really does help me feel less 'road rage' and more 'road relaxed' on a day-to-day basis.
