We had a lovely service here for my dad's funeral. Pastor Jean was very caring and helped us get through through a very difficult, sad day.

I go here occasionally because I know the regular pastor, Jean Clements, and I am her son's Godfather. Jean has been a friend for many years and has known me when I have been going through some rough times, including a divorce, serparations, and the funeral of my father, over which she officiated. I'm therefore never quite sure what she makes of me, having never seen me at my best. I just hope that she appreciates the importance of her friendship to me. Under Jean's leadership, New Chapel has become a warm, friendly, accepting, and non-judgemental oasis. Visit and you will be made to feel welcome, and you will leave inspired. As the name suggests, the chapel is new, the old one having been demolished when the nearby shopping complex was built. The replacement is bright, airy and relaxing. It is well worth using a visit to New Chapel as a stepping stone to finding out more about the Unitarian faith. When you hear tales about churches still refusing to marry divorced people, etc, it is comforting to know that there are places like this where you will not be turned away and where a genuinely caring pastor will council people with common sense and empathy, or a kick up the bum, as necessary. ;-)
