Such a great charity supporting local families with books, toiletries, school uniforms and Christmas gifts. If you can, please offer your time and donations to help out.

I spent the day there as a volunteer along with two of my work colleagues today. Between us we unpacked bags and boxes of children's clothes, games, toys, jigsaws and many baby items too. We cleaned them down (in fairness they were already donated pretty clean) and put them into the right places. We assisted in the 'shop' area by helping out the visitors with choosing and collecting clothing, toiletries and toys etc etc. I absolutely take my hat off to all of the people that not only work here but in other charity organisations too. A special thank you to Heather, Amanda and BB who spent probably the most time with us and kept us busy. Many thanks again for this opportunity to assist if only for the one day. Also, a massive thank you to everybody who donates to this fantastic charity.

I had the privilege of helping out at Wood Street for the day. It is an amazing organisation and I can't thank everyone enough for allowing me to help. It was a humbling experience. All the staff are superb and have my greatest respect. The people of Manchester are so generous.

Had a christmas party there about 1938, I was taken there with my brother, he had a flat battery car I had 5 lead soldiers, never forgot, had to take a mug and spoon with coloured wool so we knew it was mine.

Hats off to such an amazing team. I have been driving a friend here recently due to personal circumstances and I was surprised how people can act. Having never visited such a place I was surprised with what an amazing charity wood street are. Helping families in the time of need to cope with the daily struggles.
Unfortunately whilst waiting for my friend I also witnessed disgraceful actions from some who forget woodstreet is a charity not a money maker for their own gain. Crowds of ""African (i could be wrong)" women possibly friends or related, grouping together and bullying the genuine people who need help. Fighting over "the best stuff" and intimidating all around to get what they want. I've witnessed workers being verbally abused and single mothers being shoved about by these crowds. Unfortunately the same crowd also appear to have little care for the children they are supposed to be here for. Little children running round the waiting area, throwing things, attacking people and fighting amongst each other whilst the mothers are in the shop doing exactly the same things. Amongst all of this you can find young single mothers waiting quietly in the corners trying to do the right thing for their children whilst others are abusing the system.
During one of my visits I witnessed one of the "crowd" be sent out of the shop for trying to cheat the system. Upon doing so she was threatening one of the workers. Now this lady, to look at her you would think frail old lady here to help buy wow does she have some lungs when she needs them. I've never heard her raise her voice so it did come as a shock when she stood her ground.
Despite all of the above the workers are amazing. Friendly, helpful and keep calm no matter what happens.
I urge any company looking for a chosen charity to choose woodstreet. I will be putting them forward myself and looking for options to help where I can.
