S. N.The most fantastic place, we visited the house as well as seeing the many sculptures in their beautiful settings. Such an interesting place, we learnt so much about Henry Moore and his love of natural forms that he recreated in his sculptures. The cafe is delightful and serves really delicious food at reasonable prices.
D.Oh wow - what a beautiful and very interesting place to visit. Staffed by very friendly people who were enthusiastic to share their knowledge. Afternoon tea and cake in the sunshine to finish off what was a lovely afternoon. We would highly recommend you pay a visit.!!

W. L.What a fabulous place to visit, It's great to see the actual studio where he works. Not to miss the video in Henry Moore The Sixties exhibition on now. We also ate at the Cafe, sandwiches were good and good selections of teas and coffee too.

The walk to see all his works takes about 30 minutes to take in cursorily but could take much longer. Not all wheelchair accessible but mostly so.
Café and shop very good and plenty of parking and overflow parking if it is a busy day.

S. S.I can't tell you enough how amazing this place is! So special. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. It has an amazing vibe. You have to pay extra to visit his house but it's worth it! A couple of minor criticisms. The tour guide was excellent in the house but we weren't given enough time to take in what was in the house if you wanted to listen to him. A shame. The other thing is the sound in the gallery is terrible. I gave up trying to listen in the end... Another shame. I highly recommend visiting the foundation. If you like Henry Moore, you won't be disappointed....

A. Z.Came to explore not knowing what to expect. The place is run by really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our three children were given activity packs, including a little sketch book and pencil, which kept them engaged and interested for a couple of hours. The cafe is nice too with good cakes and tea.

J.A must visit for anyone fond of Henry Moore, an absolutely amazing collection of many of his work in one place in a natural environment, where he created them. It is tucked away in the beautiful rural Hertfordshire countryside which is a little challenging for city drivers to navigate through the very narrow and twisty village lanes but worth all the hassle. The village Much Hadham also worth a stop over for a stroll, it was voted as the most beautiful village in Herefordshire.

K. H.Lovely place to spend a few hours, even if you're not into sculpture. The grounds are pleasant and the cafe is lovely food, not too expensive.
D. K.First I should mention I have visited annually for some time and have been fascinated by the sculpture in the photos. Each year the foundation presents different elements of Moore's work and the exhibition's for this year were about to finish when I visited. The photos are of the works in the grounds which I enjoy and hopefully give you a flavour of what you will see. For me the whole place is very special, they serve nice tea and coffee and excellent cake, pick a day with nice weather and either use sat-nav to find it or plan your route carefully. I do recommend touring his house if you are a first time visitor and again for the first timer follow the sculpture in the sequence in the guide. Finally it's worth wearing shoes that allow you to walk in fields, some excellent work are often surrounded by sheep.

Situated in acres of rolling English countryside outside small village.you can follow a designated trail around his studios and gardens and learn his history and view his huge sculptures in their natural settings. Excellent exhibition called The 1960s which was fascinating especially with the timeline to help explain the context of world affairs alongside Moore's work. Very good facilities for visitors - refreshments, shop, toilets. Very knowledgeable guides. All in all a superb trip.
R. P.This is a wonderful place to visit with larger pieces outdoors and an uplifting exhibition of Moore's drawings and sketches in the big barn (contemporary exhibition space) until 27 October 2019. Cafe in modern rooms, serves a range of quality food. Overall, It's a must!
G.Fascinating. Beautiful grounds with many of Moore's large sculptures, studios showing how he worked & an excellent gallery. Best of all, take a guided tour of the house which is kept exactly as it was when Moore lived there & also contains a wonderful private art collection. There is a very good café & a gift shop with items to suit all pockets. Highly recommend.

However, the cafe service was appalling. It took 40 minutes to get a slice of cake and the place was half empty. They gave our order to an other table and then said we were sixth in line. The table next to us said it took 20 minutes to receive their coffee.
The staff didn’t clean up tables. I would recommend bringing a picnic (there is a picnic area) and avoiding the cafe.

It was good to be able to get up close to the magnificent sculptures, and equally impressive to look at some from a distance, in the fields, before getting up close to them.

The ground is so spacious, there is enough room for all, including the sheeps pasturing. There is a cafe/ coffee shop with lots of seating areas both on the grounds and the in-house exhibition centers.

D. N.The place is beautiful. Really good place to take kids as an introduction to Art. Firstly cause there is not much chance of getting told off when the kids touch the sculptures. Cause lets face it, kids touch everything. The gardens are stunning, the walk around the sheep field was nice (mind the poop) - staff really helpful and polite. And pub right across the road. Bonus right there.

G. B.Good, but not great. I enjoyed visiting, particularly the science fiction vibe I got from a lot of the works, and where they were placed in the landscape. The Edmund de Wall exhibition at the moment is worth five stars alone, and his work here highlights the issues for me. De Waal has a really interested video on the website introducing the exhibition here that he's curated. He goes into some detail about the works involved and the background to them. There's also a little brochure you get with the exhibition where again he goes into some depth. This is what is missing from the gardens here. I'd like a bit of explanation, a bit of context, perhaps a board in near each work talking about them so I understand what Moore was inspired or consumed by at the time he made it. There was not a lot here to a) put each work in some form of context or b) give me some background on Moore himself. I came away feeling I didn't really know much about him.
A case
The second point was the staff. Having spent the last few months since lockdown ended trying to visit some museums and galleries, this was the first location I visited where I felt the staff weren't particularly welcoming. In a couple of examples I felt like I should be thankful I was being allowed in here to worship at this altar of his genius. Well, times have changed, haven't they? I may not be an artistic expert but a bit of a warm welcome wouldn't be amiss, and I don't mean you have to go overboard and get all 'have a nice day' about it. A bit of enthusiasm. The guy outside the De Waal exhibition was great, very welcoming and helpful. Some of the others a bit 'meh'.
I'd still recommend going, and will perhaps consider returning in the future, maybe I caught everyone on a bad day?

A. R.Popped in to have a coffee in the cafe and bought a few items in the gift shop. A little disappointed we were given takeaway cups when others around us were drinking from cups and saucers. Tiny cups too for the price, but the overall experience of seeing some of the sculptures in the gardens for free was worth it!

S. B.I should say at the start of this review that I am bias. I love Henry Moore's work so I was very excited about going to the place where he lived and worked.
However even if you are not a fan this is a very well run place to visit. Decent sized carpark despite the rural setting, good signage, disabled access, nice cafe situated in modern but sympathetically built reception building.
Lovely grounds with sculptures scattered around the grounds. Exhibitions of his working models, drawings and sculpting work shop in separate buildings.
Tours of the family house available, but can only be booked at the site, not prior to attending. House worth booking. Very inciteful into the life and nature of Moore and his family.
Easy place to spend a long morning or afternoon, or longer if you're a fan.

J. C.Beautiful surroundings frame the sculpted abstract - representational forms of Henry Moore's artwork to great effect. This is a gallery on an acreage scale, and partly populated by the sheep the artist found inspirational. The size of the largest sculptures, and their material, lend themselves to being truly encompassed only in the outdoors. You are encouraged to touch, but not clamber on, the art, and there is one picnic area dominated by a large sculpture children play around. A really enjoyable visit and pleasant way to pass a few hours. Two observations or perhaps warnings for children or large parties. The first is the entrance fee, which is rather high for what is a walk through a decorated park with some static, of very informative, displays. The second is the cost of refreshments, which is very high. Bring your own food and especially drink.
R. B.On a nice day this is a fabulous place to stroll around, enjoying the weather and the interaction of the light on the statues, and having a picnic in the areas set aside. It is 12.25 for adults and there is plenty to see but I suspect some of the enjoyment is lost if visiting in bad weather despite the indoor attractions. The Hertfordshire way and other public footpaths run around the perimeter so bits can be seen on a stroll which can be surprising if you're not expecting to stumble upon it in the middle of the countryside.
N. R. E.Amazing place. You truly get a sense of Moore’s life and the way he worked. A tour of his house is a must - it’s a treasure trove. The perfect setting to enjoy his sculptures and the newly built visitors centre is stylish and welcoming.

The house (opened in 2008) is a fascinating throwback to the fifties and sixties, rich in artifacts from Moore's travels yet humble in its presentation. The estate grounds, with many of Moore's sculptures, hiding behind trees and positioned to present their beauty, makes a lovely stroll. The new exhibition centre houses more information, a gift shop and a lovely cafe with plenty of tea and cake.

P. H.A hidden gem and sadly not open after October until the spring. It is very hard to find down narrow country lanes with no sign posts and no 4G. However well worth it. Huge grounds with very impressive statues workshops galleries and also Henry Moore's house. Very knowledgeable staff on hand. Firstly the studios and gardens are amazing. Everything is well maintained and the visitors centre is only a couple of years old and is well designed. The is a new gallery by the sheep field which architecturally is a bit barny so fits in with the local vernacular, but inside is climate controlled with clean modern lines.
The gardens are spectacular, well maintained with lovely planted areas around Hoglands (Henry Moores house.) The gardens is where most of the sculptures are diaplayed and with the surrounding foliage and in natural sunlight they gleam and show of textures within the castings.
The cafe is amazing. We've been to the HMF many times and always stop for a drink and food. The cakes are fantastic and the bacon and sausage Sandwiches make a filling and tasty lunch.

The HMF has a license for 12 weddings a year in the aisled barn (which I forgot to mention above) which is a 17th century barn Henry Moore bought from a local farmer and had moved and modernised. It has climate control (a pre-requiset of mine for an August wedding!) and HM displayed tapestries he commisioned of his some of his pencil sketches. These give the hall a very unique feel for your wedding. We comfortably seated 90 in the barn for the service and the wedding breakfast, although you'll want to hire a shelter in case of inclement weather as you need to vacate the barn during switches between service/dinner/evening do. We took Jules (the lovely lady who organises the events with tje equallu lovely Sarah) advice and hire a giant hat Tipi, these look amazing and so much better than a traditional marquee. If you have more than 90-100 guests you'll probably be better hiring 2+ tipis and eating outside. HMF make sure that everything runs smoothly and are there for the entire day keeping everything on track.
You can pretty much personalise eveything as the HMF isn't a wedding venue all the time they have no chairs and tables and hire them in for you, so you can have what you want. We had the best day here for our wedding and our guests loved the venue, even of the weather had turned we had shelter and good views.

J. L.Fantastic over 80 of his greatest work. Moved to Perry green in 1940 ewhen his London house hit by a German bomb. He purchased this house about 5 years later after selling one carving for a lot of cash. Beutifull setting on about 80 areas and access to his house and workshop . Every nice teas shop. And access for disabled people. I ghostgot around easy. Every clean toilets. Lovely staff. There is also a very large display outside. Great pond very big. Keep an eye on your children no fence they mayslip in. It costs £10 entree . Guide in his house an extra £4. Well worth it. A whole day not enough. Maple parking. No charge. The drive to get three very pretty. No picnics. No cameras in buildings HAVE A GREAT DAY WE DID. Been about 3 times a year . Henry Moore . My Hero

S. M.Henry Moore’s former home, studios and gardens, make for a wonderful day out. We celebrated my birthday here on a gloriously sunny day, with a yummy picnic next to the "Square Form With Cut" concrete sculpture.
There are many large sculptures dotted around the gardens and sheep field and you are allowed to touch the outdoor sculptures, but be warned, the bronzes can get very hot!
Staff were lovely, friendly and very knowledgeable about all things Henry Moore. Do check out all the studios, including the Bourne Maquette Studio which displays Moore's original mini models and the 16th century Aisled Barn which is home to Moore's stunning tapestries. (You have to look up close to see the weave and appreciate the beauty; from a distance, you could easily mistake the artworks as charcoal and watercolour.)
I love this location and will visit again.

The staff are really enthusiastic. It was just starting to drizzle when we entered the grounds and staff provided us with umbrellas.
The grounds are mahoosive with much of the artist's work dotted around.
His studios are a must see with the rocks, bones, etc that gave rise to much of his work. Along with tapestries and wallpaper designs.
Café and toilets. Staff are friendly, approachable and informative. Highly recommend. Also a shop.

M. D.A fantastic day out. If you have any interest at all in Moore, Sculpture, 20th Century Art or art in general, you should visit. If you have no interest, it's still a wonderful place to visit and walk around. The new visitor centre is architecturally interesting, with a good cafe and shop. The Hoglands tour is interesting. Walking through the landscape with Moore's large scale works in situ is breathtaking. And, perhaps most interestingly, numerous studios show his practice, full of found objects, sketches and maquettes. The Hoops Inn next door is a great pub, too.

S. S. S.You won't find any works of Sir Henry Moore there. Major collections of his work are there in Hertfordshire, Peri Green. But it's a nice place to be if you are in Leeds. Staffs are very helpful. Sir Moore had established his studio here. He used to work in the coal mines nearby.
