What an amazing morning we had ! Our instructor was Iain Stirling who was both thorough and informative . He made our morning of shooting very memorable with his relaxed but professional attitude. We were shown techniques that will be remembered due to the ease in which they were explained . Beautiful location sitting in the picturesque South Downs . Highly recommended!

My first contact with the club was with Ami, what a perfect front of house professional! Polite, bubbly, and very helpful - nothing was too much trouble and having made our appointment she met us at the club house and then introduced us to our coach - John. What a gentlemen, knowledgable, polite and clearly an very experienced shot! He was able to advise me, someone who has been shooting for over 30 years, without causing offence by patronising me and improve both my technique and best of all ‘hit’ rate and at the same time coach my daughter who is fairly new to the shooting world and in the course of just one hour doubled her hit rate! John, my only regret with the afternoon was the fact that I forgot to leave you a ‘thank you’ - which I absolutely intended to do - I won’t forget in the future. Thank you both for a super time for from my daughter Hayley and myself. We will be seeing you again soon.

The road going in,is very long and very uneven so be warned. But I had a very good day clay pigeon shoot. My instructor was very knowledgeable and very patient with me,especially when I missed quite a number of clays. But will be back to challenge my son and grandson to a clay shoot out.

Truly excellent club, sad to see one of the regular shooter's fat boy Kevin shooting the lane with no eye protection and then eventually jump on a quad uninsured and get his glasses from the carpark after having shot several stands with a group of 5. I believe fat boy scores in comps and supposed to have done a cpsa pre instructions course (In this case he was not working but shooting practice). Which every one laugh's at because the standard of coaching is world class at Southdown and Kevin struggles to use a shotgun effectively at the best of times. Southdown are always so carefully with eye safety and the staff are so vidulant to keep an eye out for people not complying with club rules.

Went with a large group, agreat setting out in country side.really well organised setup,instructors were great help with the kids,making a fun experience for everyone in our group and the onsite cafe worth a visit. Will be back

A great day out, do visit if you have a car. The instructor was very good with both experienced shooters and full beginners. Its set in a beautiful part of the countryside. The drive there is on some unmade road so just be aware of that. The whole family loved it.

I joined Southdown as a beginner a few months ago and absolutely love the place. Very friendly and helpful staff, great coaches and a fantastic range of targets in a stunning setting. The gun shop is amazing, in fact I’m off to buy a new gun tomorrow. The cafe is awesome, and great to get a bite to eat when spending a few hours shooting. Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming… as a new shooter I was slightly overwhelmed on my first couple of shoots but the members there seem like such a great bunch and were happy to offer help and advice, or even buddy up with me when I was on my own and struggling with the timed delay system, which I’ve now mastered, meaning I can shoot solo if i want to. Membership gives some great discount. I can’t recommend Southdown enough… now completely addicted!

Fantastic shooting ground would highly recommend just eat before you go catering staff so rude and refused to make my son a cheese and tomatoe baguette because apparently it would not earn them enough money even though we offered to pay what ever the cost of it such a shame as this just ruined our day

Took my 12yr old for his birthday with his mate and his older brother and what a wonderful time we had. Big Kev took so much time to explain everything to the kids, make us all feel relaxed and made sure we had a great afternoon. Very kind staff who were welcoming. We'll be back for the next birthday!

Absolutely loads of stands to practice plenty of different angles. Well organised and managed. Very tidy, with a low end cafe on site serving cheap hot drinks and basic hot food. Cold drinks forva hot day however were poorly stocked in a machine that didnt want to vend. No other means of buying cold drinks which was a bit strange!

Great site with really friendly staff and good facilities. Standard of tuition is brilliant and has transformed me from a beginner to a slightly competent shot, and the on site shop is very reasonably priced, offering a great range of guns and with knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit!

Great place to to improve your clay pigeon skills and very friendly people the food is great ie the big breakfast there are so many options and styles like sporting, down the line and skeet On the sporting shoot it's quite a trek from the bottom and is on a long slope definitely need a cup of tea when you get back to the top

Just posting as an FYI for anyone else newly licensed visiting this club who want to bring a guest, this particular club has a rule that you must have held your license for more than a year to bring guests to shoot. Not had this trouble anywhere else, was lucky I rang to check a few things before visiting as it would have been a very disappointing trip otherwise. shame really as I wanted to check it out with friends before doing the cpsa registered shoots.

All I have to say is these guys have the patients of saints. Was part of a stag that was meant to arrive at 1300, but due to “stag related reasons” lol, we arrived at around 1700. We were calling them with updates on our progress but still 4 hours late is a bit wild. Not a problem, they acted like we were on time, gave us the works, thoroughly enjoyed it.

If you want to learn how to do clay pigeon shooting or do more clay pigeon shooting this is the place to go to. It's a beautiful, place in the Sussex counryside north of Worthing with really helpful staff who are passionate and knowledgeable about guns. There is a cafe serving food and drink. Access is down a long farm track but is well signposted from the A27 heading north.

Great place, been taking lessons with Iain for a couple of weeks. Everyone's very welcoming, no pressure or stress. highly recommend SGC if you want to learn how to handle a gun and shoot properly. Great setup and facilities. Shop seems good and Norman the dog is ace! Don't go there in a low car though, access road is a tad "off road" in places and i ground my car out first time. Oh yes - and there's very little to no phone signal down there... great if you like the quiet.

I have been fortunate to attend the Southdown Gun club for three different reasons, as a: have a go day, completing one of their shotgun training courses and also free practice. It is a nice friendly club with lots of stands and some beginner friendly as well as more challenging targets. A great place to blast some clays whatever your shootongbexperience.
