I recently stayed at Hafanwen for a 10 day detox.
I have been to many detox units and rehabilitation centres over the years both in the Uk and abroad.
I can honestly say the staff at Hafanwen were tremendous.
I went in for alcoholism and had serious issues with my gait, balance and walking.
The staff went out of their way to support and encourage me and as a result my physical well-being is greatly improved. I was shown exercises to strengthen my legs and went numerous times a day with staff around the grounds to build up my strength.
I could not walk properly at all when I went in and had to hold onto what ever was available to get around.
Ten days later I feel like new person.
Came out yesterday (4rd July) and have just walked about two miles without needing to touch or hold anything to maintain my balance
I am so grateful for all the help and support I received, the staff were superb. 👍🏽😃😃

The ONLY way I can describe my stay in Hafan Wen Detox Clinic is - lifechanging. After being an inpatient here for 2 weeks I am no longer dependant on Alcohol and thanks to the staff that organised it, I will be continuing my rehabilitation at Penrhyn House in Bangor for 6 months.
I now understand my destructive behaviours that led to my addiction and can recognise and deal with cravings and urges. Every member of staff has been unbelievable to help me to get to this stage, I am motivated and for the first time positive about my future all thanks to the nurses / volunteers at Hafan Wen.
I am not exaggerating to say I owe my life to Hafan Wen as my addiction was only going to lead to one thing. I can walk out hold my head up high and proudly say I am sober and with continued help go forth with my recovery leading to the best possible life for me and my children.
From the bottom of my heart thank you so much to all the staff they are truly incredible and if anyone is lucky enough to get the opportunity to stay if they are unfortunate enough to need to, then speaking from experience grab the opportunity with both hands as if you want it and engage with the program it will change your life.

In response to the negative review by Debbie, I have been in hafan wen 2 times and I can genuinely say that is not a true reflection of the place at all.It provdes a hugely important service ,available for free. If some think they are better than that, they are perfectly able to go to the the priory. To say you don't know who you are in there with shows the kind of attitude that is definitely going to rub people up the wrong way. That shouldn't cause you to subject this facility to a poor and unjustified review.
