My experience with solicitors has never been great, but this time it wasn't awful! We had the same legal assistant assigned to our case the whole way through, who was prompt at getting back to us and was at the end of the phone. There were some things we needed clarity on but our assistant did not seem to be able to explain some things to us, and there were some errors on the initial drafts of documentation, but it all got through in the end.

Sort legal are brilliant. Really easy and user-friendly service We have recently used sort legal to buy our 2nd home. I work in the mortgage industry as a broker and came across Sort legal as they offer a search guarantee, which in this climate i recommend as things can fall through for whatever reason. Their guarantee means you will not need to pay for searches each time you apply to buy a house, which can be expensive. We used this as we had a fall through on our first house and they did not charge more. The Diamond in the rough here was our Solicitor Morgan Ynyr Caradog Williams!! He epitomises what a solicitor should be and, in my opinion, has the most proactive approach to any scenario. He had regular calls with me and my wife, and clearly explained the process and what was left to do. Morgan has been the one person in this process which has tried his best to make it less stressful. My only regret in this is I did not use him for our sale as we had to chase the solicitor that we did use daily, they hardly communicated and almost cost us losing the house. If any of my clients ask me if I know a good solicitor I will send them Morgan’s way. We cannot thank him enough!!

We were extremely fortunate to have Claudia and her team Carys and Frances dealing with it.They were perfect in every way. The process went smoothly...until completion. I had money owing to me, and the Trainee Mortgage Fee Earner I was dealing with suddenly became unavailable! I must have called 8 times trying to find out why the money was not yet in my account? Only to be told by several different people (who didn't appear confident in what they were talking about) that it was with accounts and can take up to 3 days to clear. On day 4 of the money still not appearing in my account I (thankfully) spoke to a very helpful person called Jordan - he told me straight away that the money was still sitting in their account unprocessed, he would investigate for me and make sure it was in my account by end of day. I called back later and spoke to Jordan, he said he had resolved the issue and could see the money had now been sent by their accounts team. The problem was, the person dealing with my remortgage, hadn't passed on my account details (then went off on holiday). If I hadn't chased this, I would still be waiting (a week later). Thank goodness for speaking to a competent person in the end, who I would happily give 5 stars to - if it was possible to review individuals. Unfortunately the bad experience with the rest of the team is why I can only award 3 stars (and to be honest, it's probably being generous).

Dealing with Sort Legal on the remortgage of my house I have to make comparisons between this and when I initially bought the house and dealt with a local solicitor and the difference was worlds apart. I was constantly kept in contact by email even if it was a simple this is where we are in the process and this is the next step but we have to wait for a specific step to happen first. When I was a little unsure about some of the final steps, the solicitor was happy to get on the phone and talk me through exactly what was going on which is something I was never able to do with the previous. Not only that, there were then follow on emails to confirm everything we'd spoken about and further emails and phone calls if anything when things had changed after that phone call.

Oliver Jones was absolutely amazing. A review on him alone would be 5 stars plus! Everything was very quick and on the ball at the beginning. However during Oliver's annual leave things did not progress, in fact they came to a standstill! People that were supposed to be covering Oliver's work did not respond to e mails/phone calls from ourselves, estate agents and other solicitors in the chain. It was very stressful and frustrating for us and others in the chain as it appeared that Sort Legal had gone off the radar completely. Upon Oliver's return he worked tirelessly to get things back on track. Sort Legal need to improve their procedures regarding holiday cover! If they could do this then Sort Legal would be a highly recommendable company to use.
