Alex acted as our lawyer for the sale of our business. As well as proving an extremely effective and competent lawyer, we found Alex to be thoughtful, clear and lightening fast in his response. He was available when we needed him the most, which was not always at sociable hours. Alex challenges people (both the other side and us) to be objective and reasonable in our positions. He also never loses sight of why businesses use lawyers - which is to help them assess and attribute commercial risk. Alex May of BladeLaw really is an exceptional solicitor and I'm very glad indeed we found him. I highly recommend him both as a solicitor and advocate. We'd never heard of him before and only found him by chance through a very recent recommendation. Having now worked closely with him for a number of very intensive days I can confirm without hesitation that he's very hard working indeed and has a wide range of talents and abilities which he successfully combines with some impressive professional skills and experience. We particularly needed someone with corporate/company law as well as property litigation expertise and, unusually, Alex has both. Not only does Alex have valuable legal skills and experience but he seems extremely capable of dealing with people from all walks of life and in a wide variety of situations both formal and informal. He amply demonstrated his ability to not only cope with, but to an extent even pacify and disarm, angry and aggressive people trying to intimidate. Even under pressure he was always good natured and remained at all times unflappable. At very short notice he took on the role of representing us as a Solicitor Advocate in a full-on three-day hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice in London. He had a very daunting task but I'm delighted to say that our defence was a great success. The outcome was a huge relief. To my mind Alex May is a real champion, though a surprisingly modest one. My feeling is that he wouldn't accept instructions for a case he couldn't handle so if he does accept your case you can be confident you're in safe hands and he'll do all he can to help you succeed.

But his knowledge on how to use them far surpassed mine; his grasp of technical detail was a revelation, and his analysis, an education. He suggested 'After the Event' Insurance, so that, as plaintiffs, our exposure to an adverse judgment on costs was insured, and the cost of this became a potent hazard for the defendants. He helped us to obtain this cover. In negotiation, he grasped all the other sides arguments and answered them so comprehensively, that they quietly ran out of steam, and we achieved a very satisfactory settlement. We would unhesitatingly instruct him if any other dispute ever arises.
