I decided against doing my own probate and was extremely pleased I choose Berkeley Weston. The forms and information initially sent were easy to follow. Once I had completed and sent them off to Berkeley Weston Probate was granted in approximately 10 days I was amazed how quickly they obtained it. Throughout the process emails are sent with very helpful tips including a different subject each time. I have also had a follow up telephone conversation advising me how I should now deal with probate. the office is always on hand to help you with any questions you may have. If you are thinking of doing probate yourself purchasing the DIY Probate Guide is an excellent first step. It is very clear and, to me as a non-lawyer, very thorough and helped me complete the probate process with confidence. I really loved the template letters! Even if you eventually decide not to go the DIY route, the initial investment in the guide is well worth it as it makes it clear what is involved and when it is sensible to seek help. My mother passed away in November and I looked online for advice regarding the Probate application. For the record, I had initially enquired with the Co-Operative Probate services and they valued their Probate cost for my mother's simple estate at a shocking £7500! On making enquiries I was offered a deal from a solicitor who said they charged 2% of the value of the estate plus then £250.00 per hour administrative costs. I as a little fearful of applying for Probate myself until my brother in law recommended Phil Weston to me. I contacted him by email and had a reply within minutes. The next day I received the information pack setting out in clear terms how to apply without engaging the services of a lawyer. This included a guide as to the procedure and also a CD which contained all of the necessary forms for me to print off and complete. Once started, I found the procedure relatively easy, the only holdup being the slow response of the banks and building society. Always at the back of my mind was the reassurance that I could contact Phil's office with any questions. My mum passed away in May and I initially bought the DIY Probate Pack from Berkeley and Weston. It contains a lot of useful information to get the job done. This helped me to decide to opt for the assisted Probate option and I have been very impressed with the service I've had throughout. Telephone responses were very quick. Forms were posted or emailed to me according to my preference and I avoided a couple of mistakes I would have made on the Probate form if I hadn't had help. Phil Weston, Samantha and Sarah are lovely people to deal with. They know the job inside out, explain things clearly and are very easy to talk to. They post completed forms off really quickly. The Probate Registry can take several weeks to process the forms but I had a great experience as mine were approved within a day or two of receipt. I would definitely recommend Berkeley and Weston for the probate process. They have been excellent to deal with and removed all my concerns with this part of the process.

I purchased the diy pack with the view of dealing with the whole probate process myself. The pack is amazing if you want to go down that route as it is a clear guide & gives you templates for all documents etc that you would need. To be honest, i probably could have done it all this way but the inheritance tax side of it worried me - I wanted to make sure I got it 100% correct. I therefore decided to use Berkeley Weston assisted service. Wow, did i make the right decision? They took all the stress and anxiety out of the process giving concise simple instructions on what needed doing. Then, when i had all the information, they took over completing all the forms, working out the inheritance tax & submitting it all to the authorities. The process could not have been smoother &, i believe, saved us a lot in inheritance tax. I cannot fault them at all & would highly recommend them to anyone. The costs are very reasonable especially if you were comparing them to soliocitors/accountants.

Best £30 I have spent this year on the probate pack. My mother sadly passed away and at a very emotional time being the executor and having to deal with the will , probate and all the jobs which at the time are daunting and seem endless .I felt it was correct to engage a solicitor to deal with probate . It seemed from my first phone call to the solicitors, re the Will and house deeds “which they held “, that asking about the will and how things worked regarding probate etc. was not upmost in their mind . Their first comment was the starting cost are £xxxx and not let just go over details and see how it pans out. With the high cost and not knowing what was envolved it made me look to see if there was another way to go at this most difficult time. When I had a look online, I found it. Phil Weston and his team. A first phone call with Phil to chat over with no pressure just recommendations and suggestions lead me to purchase the probate pack . Best move I made. The worry of what if I made a mistake with tax forms etc. I avoided getting started , “ will get things moving next week , then putting off again and again. were all covered in the pack as if it was written with my thoughts and feelings. Went ahead with the pack and had to email Phil a couple of questions which were answered within 24 hours . All forms ,certificates ,will etc collated and posted off . Had email back from Harlow office received the request the next day and probate done within 3 weeks . This when letter of confirmation dropped via the letter box onto the door mat took the weight of the world off my shoulders and put me back into a much better place for the first time in 2021 . I saved a few thousand pounds , it only took a few weeks after I had got all the paperwork together and had help at the end of a phone if needed . I have to say Phil Weston is every bit as good as his word and his help and support resulted in me receiving the grant of probate five weeks after the forms were submitted. After the death of my father in law it seemed a pretty daunting task, as the executor of his estate, to be faced with the official processes required to allow me to finalise his affairs. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Phil Weston for helping us to get Probate following the death of my Mother. It was already a stressful time and the prospect of dealing with this was daunting. initially I purchased the DIY probate pack, which was both comprehensive and clearly explained everything I needed to know. After some consideration, we decided to use the Assisted DIY probate service at a cost of £714. All relevant forms were prepared for us based on the information we had supplied. They were sent to us to sign . We returned the signed paperwork to Berkley Weston on 12th January. We received Probate on 2nd February! Phil has spoken to me subsequently to discuss the remaining actions I need to take in order to finalise the estate. This again was very helpful. Bought this pack back in August and it is all very clear. The follow up emails then remind you of bits to do and act as a check and balance. Had a couple of questions, during the process, which Phil answered via email. Everything went smoothly with all of the forms being sent off at the end of November. Waited until 1 Mar 21 and with nothing heard I rand the Probate Office only to be told there was a problem. When I enquired what it was they didn’t know. Rang back yesterday to be given more information which seemed odd and there was no record of the previous day’s call. Emailed Phil with the scenario last night and he came straight back with what questions to ask the Probate Office and to ask what their corrective action plan was as they had not made contact and this should not be just sat on someone’s desk. Rang back today and asked all these questions, asked if all their calls were recorded I wanted then to undertake an investigation as to why there was no record of my phone call on Monday and asked what their plan of action was to sort this out as it had been 12 weeks and all the paperwork was in order. Insisted that the shift supervisor rang me back to inform me what was happening. Miraculously within 2 hours they formally approved the Probate request. Thank you Phil for the expert advice last night as without that I would not have known the right buttons to press on the phone conversation and would not have had such a speedy resolution. I would recommend this Probate pack to anyone who has the confidence to do a straightforward application themselves. The benefit is that he doesn’t just sell you the pack and then leave you too it he provides follow up advice as and when you need it.

I usually begrudge paying for services that I can do myself however this service was well worth every penny to help me sort out my Dad's estate. He only had a small estate so I ummed and ahhed about value for money because it was a flat fee regardless of the value of his estate but I would still be trying to sort it out now. Working full time with very busy weekends I kept putting it off as it looked too daunting. When my mum passed away earlier this year I was gob smacked everything was daunting and didn’t have a clue what was what everyone I spoke to said you have to have a solicitor for probate and it’s going to cost loads so I looked on google and came across Berkeley Weston which did it all so my cousin and I looked at the forms looked at each other and said Omg how do we do this so I took to a family member and asked her to help us which she did they responded to us saying it would take up to 8 weeks which was fine but time was ticking away but it was back within no time at all approved by the court and probate was granted we would of been lost without Berkeley Weston so we’d like to thank Phil for his time and patience great company
