M. U.One of the few places that offers legal assistance. Greatly organised and reassuring solicitors. Very competent and high expertise compared to other expensive law firms that don't know what is the matter and still request money in advance.
To add that not all solicitors at DLS are good. In my comment I was only referring to my experience with one in particular. Others are of lower level and do not show any interest even if having 20 years of experience. Overall I do not recommend someone with several years of experience but someone that shows passion for what he does. Hopefully this clarifies that responding to any emails or calls is essential for the job you are delivering.

m.I worked as an advisor at DLS. The firm dealt with only disability discrimination in employment and community care issues at the time. Funding cuts meant there was limited disability benefits advice provided. The firm is very under-resourced but does it's best to help its clients, from providing advice on next steps, drafting letters and representing people at tribunals. Solicitors try to visit clients in homes and hospitals. There have been many success stories and the service is completely free.
If you want legal advice on disability discrimination in employment or community care advice, DLS should be the first port of call. There is a huge backlog of calls given the free service and understaffing, but the firm always attempts to call back at least three times.
The staff are very empathetic and know what they are doing. Service users should bear in mind that the staff are overworked and under-resourced but do their best on every single matter. The pay is also pretty low as it's a charity, so the staff working there are not doing so for the money but because they believe in helping others.
