I have just settled a very long and complicated negligence claim with Slater and Gordon fighting on my behalf. Through the 8 years I had a number of lawyers working on my case but finally was allocated to Rosaline Wong in the Clinical Negligence Department’s London office a few years ago. Rosaline was fantastic, communicated clearly, was professional and always quick to respond to my questions and I don’t think there’s a lawyer that works harder or puts in more hours! She kept me informed of developments, really listened, arranged appointments in suitable locations, and even on one occasion helped me back to my hotel when no taxi would take my wheelchair. Daniel Denton handled the case of my sister-in-law, who broke her hip when a bus she was travelling on, stopped very abruptly, hurling her down the length of the bus. In September 2017 I was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma. As this is an asbestos related disease and an industrial injury, I was advised that I should make a claim for damages against my employer. From my first contact with him through to the successful conclusion of my claim he and his team’s performance were excellent. Due their diligence my ex employer finally accepted responsibility. I received compensation far in excess of anything I had anticipated but of a level that they fought for me. They made recommendations regarding help that was available both medically and financially. They managed to obtain grants that helped to make his final months easier. The team tried to locate the firms that my father worked for that were responsible for his illness. Better value and easier to do business with than a firm of lawyers in Blackpool! I dealt with William Gubbins - I would recommend him. Other lawyers/firms (Blackpool/Manchester) were keen to 'stretch out' their engagement and charge me at least twice as much as Slater and Gordon! Very professional and customer friendly Legal Firm. Hired them to do my conveyancing and so far they have been on point. I only write reviews, when I feel something needs to be said. So to put things in to context, I have looked at the 273 reviews logged with the London Office. 64 logged reviews (23%) give 1 star, while 186 logged reviews (68%) give 5 stars. Given that the range is 5 stars, two of the ratings capture 91% of the reviews, obviously with 5 stars having nearly 3 times more than the one star. However, it is the one star reviews I delve in to, to get my context. There is a common theme running through these reviews. I also was told, "S&GL are ambulance chasers", "too expensive", along with other negative comments. I googled the top 5 Employment Law firms in London and sent out communications to them over the weekend, in anticipation of a Monday response. One actually responded to me on a Sunday and we spoke on the Monday. He clearly was a Cowboy, when we spoke. The others did not even bother responding. I then reached out to S&GL on the Monday and was dealt with immediately. The Call centre were polite, patient and efficient. They clearly explained the process to me. They then confirmed who they would be allocating to me. My situation was managed by Remziye Ozcan. You can look up the team on their website. I then got more than my 15 minute free chat with Remziye and we then arranged to meet in person. My point here is, you need to invest the time to understand what and who you are dealing with, to make an informed decision. Unfortunately it will cost, but you still have the option to walk away. Remziye was in no way aggressive, but patient, empathetic and sympathetic to my situation and laid out my legal options as well as how long it may take and what the potential costs would be. In my world, she was very professional in her dealings. As the clients, we are in effect in control and have to give them the instructions to act. Remziye had the matter resolved in less than 2 months and communicated consistently throughout the process. She even got my Legal Fees paid for. Hence why I am giving 5 stars.
