I attended the recent Else monthly networking event in Birmingham - and it was excellent - as always! I usually make great contacts there, and last time was no exception with a couple of useful follow-up meetings. I'm booked in for the next one!

ELSE Solicitors Networking event every third Wednesday of the month in Birmingham is an event to look forward for. Always taking place at well chosen venue with good quality menu. Events are always well attended with a long list of delegates, which is available before the event already. This gives an opportunity to co-ordinate networking and make is as efficient as possible. Of course, not always you get to speak to the person you most want to, but at least the list gives contact details to at least get in touch with that person afterwards. Well done, Oliver and team!

The atmosphere is relaxed, there is no pitching for business and the manner in which they are hosted provides the ideal environment to meet like minded people. Else Solicitors represented us via adjudication against a medium to large construction company. The adjudication was my 4th and was relatively simple compared to the others which were more complicated and drawn out. Basically, the fee quoted by Else Solicitors at the beginning was exceeded without any acknowledgement or reason. The process of compiling the referral which is of great importance to the successful outcome was given to one of their trainees who had to surrender it over to one of the directors for final approval at an even higher rate to us). I definitely felt I was l leading the way and was doing the donkey work, I also felt that my trainee was working on other adjudications at the same time as mine and was under a lot of pressure. I have to admit that the adjudication was a success although I believe it would have been with any Dispute Resolution company worth their salt. The total amount sought in the adjudication was relatively low however, Else Solicitors were paid more for their services than ourselves despite the process supposedly being a success. Remember - the referring party will not recover their own legal costs through the adjudication process even if they are successful. They will always say yes to your business because there is no financial risk for them. My advice would be that if monies owed to you are less than £25,000, you will walk away from the adjudication process tired and none the richer. Oh and the losing party will have your company removed from their database within 24 hrs.

Excellent venue and well supported , in view of the amount of people it is impossible to talk that many . I think it would be useful if delegates could say briefly what they do on the lists you prepare . This would give everyone the opportunity to seek out those people they would like to network with .
