Excellent customer service from the bike team at Halfords in Catford. Always friendly, helpful and professional. They really know what they are doing and go the extra mile to give customers the best possible experience. I ordered a bike that turned out to be the wrong size (or maybe just unsuitable) for me and it was surprisingly easy to return it and try a different size instead. Wouldn't hesitate to buy bikes from Halfords again.

The driver mirror was fitted quickly. A nice, very young man (studying mechanics at college) was extremely friendly and despite some problems caused by the the whole unit hit by another car, he put everything right and even had a bit of time to have a small talk with a middle aged lady. Got a lightbulb fitted for my car today. I was able to find the bulb for my car easily online by entering the registration details. I also arranged for it to be fitted. This time around,inspite of a massive confusion,of accepting my order,followed by canceling it without explanation.i had to contact customer service,who were not able to effectively contact the branch,so I took a chance to go to catford branch,and without too much grief able to get my helmet light. Note priviously I had purchased several bike chains,that did not come as advertised,so I had to go back,and spoke to the management,who was kind enough to explain to me what happened.i also found out the hard way that unless it's a bike,all items are to be collected by the cashier,and not as advertised on site, hopefully the management have adjusted that,because I had to wait about 30 mins. To then be told you need to go to the cashier.

Catford is often regarded as a bit of a backwater, but it's a great place with great people. This also applies to the local Halfords. It's always very well stocked, and the staff are friendly knowledgeable and helpful. If they don't know the answer to a question they will make it their business to find out the answer - it's like they are genuinely interested, and really want to know and help.

We went to the Catford center to get a dashcam fitting done. Samantha (Sam) was very friendly and made us feel assured that the job would get done. She told us the slot was for 2 hours and we could go off for a bit and she would call us once it was done. Sure enough we received a call an hour later to say the car was ready. She gave us a good summary of how to use the dashcam, what she had done and what she recommends we do. She did a great job and I would definitely recommend a dashcam fitting from the Catfod center.

The store visit itself was very good - the store was clean and up to standard given the recent Covid-19 situation. There were quite a few customers in the store but the staff were doing all they could to keep the queue moving and keep customers satisfied. However, my experience before and after the store visit were different. I was initially going to order a boxed version of a bike. I ordered this via the Click & Collect service online from the Catford store, and was satisfied that despite low stock of this particular bike across the country that I would receive it the following day as stated on the website during the order. As the Catford store is quite a way from my home I decided to call ahead the next morning and was told to wait until 12:00pm as the Bike Manager wouldn't be in the store until then but they could call me to arrange collection. I accepted this and waited until 12:30pm. I didn't receive a call from the store, so as a courtesy I decided to call the store myself and explain that I had a reasonable journey (1 hour) to the store so would need to know if collection was possible that day. They explained that the delivery hadn't come in yet due to some delays but they would call me as soon as possible. After a short while I received a call to say that the bike wasn't on the delivery and they would need to order one from the central warehouse (which they subsequently found out wasn't possible due to a shortage of stock). The member of staff checked with the Cycling department and found that an unboxed example which had been rejected by a customer was available instead which I accepted. I collected the bike but on loading it into the car I noticed that there were a number of scratches on it. At no point had the damage been pointed out to me or discount offered at the time of purchase. I suspect that the bike was damaged while in storage and may have been rejected by the original customer as a result. Given the current situation with Covid-19 I decided not to re-enter the store to complain. On returning home, however, I decided to contact Halfords Customer Service via Live Chat and was told that I should expect an email regarding my complaint later that evening. Thankfully, Zikhona and Owen from Customer Services worked tirelessly and (as I didn't want to return the bike), Owen offered a £30.00 partial refund on the bike by way of apology for the damage. Overall I had a fairly good experience though I do feel that improvements need to be made regarding contact with customers and also a review of policies when handing over items, such as checking for any damage to an ordered product and acting accordingly (e.g. offering a full refund or a discount).
