AP sorted my car with a new gearbox, clutch and master cylinder. I had the pleasure of dealing with James, he is a knowledgeable and very customer centric member of the team there. I won’t be going anywhere else for the maintenance and upkeep of my cars.

Simply superb, would quite happily recommend them to anyone. Great bunch and always willing to help. Nothing is too much trouble. Was having issues with my Skoda, main dealer wanted to charge an astronomical amount to sort the issue.

I'm not generally a fan of garage services. I grew up in an age when you could open the bonnet, recognise the components under it and fix it yourself with a Haynes manual, a rudimentary toolkit and lots of swearing. My days of squeezing into small spaces and spending hours lying under a vehicle are behind me, but I have a working knowledge of most automotive problems, their diagnosis and repair. I have been amazed, over the years, with what work and components I have been told will be required to fix the 'current issue' by a wide variety of garages. Some blatantly fraudulent, others maybe only being over pessimistic with their quotes. A.P. Engineering was recommended by a friend, and I took my car along with a fairly complex problem and fairly jaded expectations. Andy, the owner, ran me through all the possibilities, gave me a ball park estimate of costs both likely and possible, and put a cap on the costs of the exploratory work before meeting again to decide how to proceed. Result! A knowledgeable mechanic who wants a fair day's pay for a fair day's work rather than expecting to be able to retire on the proceeds of reconnecting a wire! I exaggerate. Did I say I'm a cynic? But you get the picture. That car is still running and various other vehicles have been sorted since with the same fair professionalism and skill. I wouldn't go anywhere else now and have no hesitation in recommending them for your needs.

I've been bringing my car to AP Engineering for 4 years and they have always delivered above and beyond expectations. Pricing is transparent and incredibly fair, communication is good and they really know their stuff. Like most women, I've dealt with my fair share of patronising blokes in garages in the past, but there's absolutely none of that here - it's so refreshing to be treated with respect even though I don't know the first thing about cars! Andy and Tom always take the time to explain what needs doing and what the options are, and I feel like they're actively trying to save me money, which I really appreciate. I would highly recommend AP Engineering to anyone.

Andy proved to be a great help to us. Having been presented with a worrying, extortionate estimate for repairs to our car, he patiently sat down with my wife and I and dispelled our concerns. He explained the problem and promised to complete the necessary repairs at a fair estimated cost. The job turned out to be more problematic than first thought but he and his excellent team persisted until a cure was found. Very reasonable bill, two extremely satisfied customers. Incidentally although my surname is the same as his we are not related, AP Engineering was recommended by a friend and this is a genuine review.

These guys were recommended to us, after other garages couldn't find fault with our car (3 Series) and it's traction. These guys did after perseverance. Problem solved! Will not use another garage, and can't recommend AP Engineering enough. Great customer service, with prices to match. Easily best all round garage in Colchester!

So this place made me feel at ease right off the bat. After calling around 5 other places within the Colchester area to fit lowering springs and wheel spacers I finally found this place and the exact word from a mechanic was "Yes its what we do". I was instantly like okay great. So I got my lowering springs on but not the spacers as they didnt come in time but I also had some other work done and a service. Its very reasonably priced with all the details right there in the invoice Receptionist is friendly as hell. The Mecanic I had wasn't very personable but I could easily overlook that because his knowledge was on point and for someone like me who doesn't know much about cars I trusted him 100%. I will be using them again for more work done in the future.😋

I found A P Engineering after a very disappointing experience with the Mercedes main dealer. They were outstanding from start to finish. They fixed the problem, contacted my third party warranty provider and got the repair cleared. They put main dealers to shame. This is the type of service I expected from Mercedes. I would highly recommend A P Engineering and will be using them from now on.

I cannot recommend AP Engineering highly enough. We have been using them for over a year and recently had a major fault with our Audi. The team are absolutely fantastic, honest and reliable. Everyone has been really helpful and gone above and beyond to make a difficult situation as easy as possible for us. They explained the faults with the car so that I could understand what had happened, why and what needed to be done. For someone that knows nothing about cars, I have found this invaluable. Every single member of the team is friendly and helpful, they don't overcharge and always communicate about what is happening and costs. They are super busy for a reason!!! I wouldn't use anyone else now.

Faced with the kind of issue that a main dealer would rub their hands at exploiting, AP were able to take the car within a couple of days, get stuck in and resolve the issue cost-effectively, and without any teeth-sucking. Had I read the reviews beforehand I would happily have taken my car here. As it happens, I just came across AP by chance while searching for someone who could help me out with an emergency repair. I cannot say how very pleased I am with the professional attitude of the people there. I was fully expecting a sharp intake of breath and an 'it'll cost you' approach to a stranded holiday motorist. Had gone to 3 other garages with regards to a headlight on my car. All these garages simply said they couldn't work out why it wasn't working. I called A P engineering and explained the issue, they suggested I pop in so one of the guys there could have a look. My wife and I have been taking our cars to AP Engineering for 4 years now. They do a great job of servicing our vehicles, sourcing the right parts and giving us options when a lot of work is needed. The new workshop - still in Davey Close - is bigger but they still have retained the small garage personal service. Andy, Tom and everyone at AP Engineering always look after us and our cars; we live some 40 miles away and we still wouldn't think of taking our cars anywhere else.
