Excellent service! The team at Halfords Autocentre were excellent, they were extremely accommodating. They offered to give me a lift to and from the garage while my car was in for repairs. While my car was in for work they offered to clean it (inside & out) while it was awaiting repair for free. Additionally, they completed the work 2 days ahead of when initially quoted. Overall it was an excellent experience. Friendly staff and efficient service. I'd 100% recommend them!

I received a brilliant service from the team at Halfords Brook St. I booked in for a free clutch inspection and found the team to be very friendly, professional and helpful with their advice. Despite the fact I arrived nearly 10 minutes late, the young lady on reception was very polite and professional, and I was expecting to be turned away and make another appointment - but no, they were still happy to accommodate me. All the 3 staff I encountered were excellent,and this was also 8 o'clock at night - the young lady was doing a great job of juggling the constantly ringing phone, speaking to her colleagues whilst keeping the waiting customers informed of progress, and other deals and services Halfords offered. Edit: 4 years later and I still use this garage :). It has since had a massive redesign. They have never let me down, and have been fantastic. I took my car in today for a wheel alignment check, and suspension check, which were both fine luckily. They also did a health check, and found that I needed a new battery. They replaced it the same day, and kept me informed of how long long it would take etc. I will continue to take my car here :). ——————————— Excellent work from the team here. I had booked my car in to have the brakes checked, and to have some warning lights investigated (abs light) after I had been let down by another garage (who told me the car was fine). I told Martin how much I needed the car back before the weekend was over, and they assured me they would do their best (I was prepared to make backup plans just in case), and do a thorough investigation into the issues. By the next morning, (I knew I would have to leave the car overnight), they had found out what the issues were. They quickly sourced the parts (cheaper than what the main dealer garage had quoted me!), and fixed the car. I'm very happy with the service I experienced, and would definitely use them again. Thanks everyone :).

A Different feel to the place since the Refit…… In a Good way. On Arrival I was welcomed in by Sam, really nice chap and whilst I waited he constantly talked checking I was ok etc. The place was overrun and to be fair extremely busy yet that didn’t affect how anyone was treated. Customers coming in every 2 mins, Parts being delivered, dealing with Telephone enquiries etc it was actually nice to see the team dealing with the whole situation very well. Upon arrival at Halfords auto centre in Colchester I was greeted by Kieron who was very polite and helpful. I was only having a tyre repaired but l was told and shown that my tyre had started to crack which was a shock to me as these tyres had only been put on my car 2yrs ago by Mercedes Benz. Then another polite and helpful man called Scott explained why this had happened to a tyre that had only been driven on for approximately 15,000mls! He explained that my tyres were winter tyres and driving on them all year caused the tyres to crack and in reality they should be changed for summer use unless I put an all weather tyres on the car! I asked if they could price for these tyres to be ordered and fitted of which they did! I would certainly recommend this centre to my family and friends because of the staff helpfulness and knowledge of their products! Well done guys! 👍

I hadn’t been able to use my car for14 months so I needed a new battery and the brakes had seized up. Halfords organised the replacement battery and all the other work needed to pass the MOT. I was kept informed of all that needed doing and was warned how much it would cost. I never have any hesitation in recommending this Halfords branch - they have looked after me and my little car for years. Always efficient, polite and helpful.

Failed MOT, then the part was the wrong part, I'm a carer n rely on my care, so they had to keep it in all night,. So I had to find a form of transport to get to work, inconvienced ! Then they left my lights on all night n had to jump start the car when I picked it up, they did give me 10 percent of my bill. But my car isn't running as smoothly as when it went in, n I know how issues with my battery. So won't be going back I'm afraid.

Dropped in ad-hoc on Sunday 16th with my tyre pressure warning light which came on when I was dropping my son back to Uni. Had to head back to London afterwards and was seen almost immediately by the team who were excellent (Callum, Sam & Josh) who checked over for a puncture and re-pressured my tyres and road tested to ensure the warning light was off. Absolutely brilliant service which restored my faith in Halfords after a more dubious recent visit to another of your autocentres closer to home...!

Brilliant service, and so helpful - I can't fault the staff for their professionalism and courtesy. Even though I only own an old, dirty, dodgy and on-it's-last-legs white van, they treated it as if I love it and depend on it - which I do! The team at Halfords were very friendly and professional. Managed to get a last minute appt the day before. They unfortunately had a power cut and we're unable to complete on time, but this was in no way their fault, and they were really apologetic. Once the power was back in the got the job done as a priority. Was really happy with the service, and would use again. All Covid guidelines were followed and I felt safe at all times.

New manager was great at letting me know that my battery is only at 25%, so may have some issues in the near future but put my mind at ease about it - again no pressure to buy anything and it was great for him to advise me on this.

Booked online and chose date and time for the work I needed. Easily done online, and payed in advance. I took the car in at my chosen time, the receptionist checked the booking and confirmed work to be done. They explained what was to be done and approximately how long the job would take. When the car was ready I received a txt message to confirm. Upon returning to the reception desk I was informed of the job done and if I had any problems how and where to contact. This was the first time I have used a Halford Autocentre and I was very impressed with the Brook Street, Colchester centre. The staff is very friendly and helpful but the main reason for the 5* review is the fact that I was called back as they have charged me the wrong part (for whatever reason). I wouldn't notice if the Manager didn't double check the invoice and have called me to come back for the refund. It's not just about him being honest, it is the fact he has noticed the mistake in the first place! Well, my old and bruised car drives much nicer now and the sound of the engine is more as it should be. The difference is noticeable and I am grateful to all the staff for the hard work they have done!

First time visiting a Halfords autocentre, Colchester and was apprehensive. I have always used an excellent honest local garage but they are so busy and are not an MOT centre so I thought I'd try the MOT and service at Halfords. It was £135 for an MOT and what they call an interim service. I only wanted the oil change and an inspection of brakes as I consider most of the extras on higher service to be pointless and that I can do myself. Lube door hinges??? It was nice to see a clear checklist of the things they would look at so I knew what was being checked. The interim service covered oil and more than I expected included wheels coming off and a brake disc/pad measurement. I had visually checked these before service and they looked ok but towards the lower end of their life. Halfords called to advise front pads at 3mm and it would be £150 to replace. I politely declined this extra knowing the price of pads around 30-40 for my car and how simple a job this is. I called a couple of local garages to quote doing this at a later date and £80-100 was indicated supplied and fitted. I felt given they already had the wheels off 150 was disproportionate. But I guess that's where they make up money. Overall happy with the service and MOT at a fair price. I'm sceptical and apprehensive of anything extra suggested from a service though but I'm cynical in nature as there is a difference between 'needs changing now' and could do with changing in the next year.

I arrived nice and early, and wanted to have a FREE brake check, and possible have rear disc and pads replaced, I was told to leave the car for about 3 hours, a bit of long time to check the brakes and then when I went back the brake were passable but noise coming from one disc and pads, and was told 3 new tyres were needed, and was given a quote for cheap tyres.
