N. M.Well, it's been a day, but the staff at Alan's have been absolutely wonderful as always! They diagnosed a fault on my car that if missed could have cost me or my Husband our lives in the worst case scenario and I cannot thank them enough. After getting it fixed we got a retest in the same day and now we're back on the road. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff and lovely receptionist who still managed to make me chuckle despite the initial bad news. We'll see you again next year!
E. W.Can't fault the place, always friendly and efficient! Reception lady is lovely! I have always looked after my cars, regular servicing and repairs etc and Alans have never failed my car for its MOT, unlike other places that can make a quick buck by doing so!

There's a comfortable waiting room if you're hanging around for the test to be done, which isn't too much of a hassle as they are pretty quick at completing the tests.
Above all, the tests are fair - my bike has never failed a MOT there.
b. w.Ive been taking all of my cars and trucks there for 15 years, its a bit more expensive than other places, but I know that what ever vehicle I take in will only be tested, unlike some other garages that might start looking for work during slack times. I've found them to be 100% honest in there evaluation of the truck or cars safety, and road worthiness.

J. D.I have used Alan’s Test Centre Derby for a few years now or my vehicles. The reminder service is handy, and it’s easy to book online, or by phone. I was late for an appointment once due to traffic, I let them know and they were still happy to do the MOT 20 minutes later, even though it was the last slot before closing. The owner is very polite and friendly, which goes a long way in my book. The facility is clean, the technicians are competent, and honest. I have no doubt my vehicle is safe, and been tested properly. Highly recommended.

B. T.My First Time at Alan's Test Center and I couldn't have been happier. Booked a few hours before and got a call to let me know they could fit me in earlier if I wanted to be. Booking system online was great. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Receptionist was lovely to chat to while waiting. Covid wise they had everything in place that you'd expect.
With regards to the testing they gave a very through and honest breakdown of the MOT wether it be pass or fail. As others have mentioned they provide a very impartial service as they have no incentive to fail you. Both due to the fact that they don't do the repairs for you so arnet after the work and as your second test is free within 2 weeks. (Make sure to call to book the follow up test if you need it as you can't book this online)
Overall throughly recommended. Will happily get my car tested there again. Typically I don't write many reviews but felt they really deserved one.

Firstly, fantastic customer service from Shareen on reception. I've worked in customer service for years but she is in a different class altogether. Warm, welcoming and remembers your name!
As for their integrity never in question. You can rely 100% on their accuracy and knowledge. There is no agenda as they do not undertake repairs but will take the time to explain any failure. Plus you can go back any time for a re-test.
Thanks to Naveed too for his time explaining issues. It makes it so much easier when checking what a garage has told you.

J. J.Excellent service. They text you in advance (2 weeks). Very polite and friendly. Comfortable waiting room with viewing area. No worries about ulterior motives as they have no interest in the repairs. MOT can be an anxious moment in itself (like going to the dentist).
They have invested into the psychology that for their customers it is important to minimise that stress and as a team have developed a business model that works to that end. That starts from the moment of contract with the ultra polite and friendly welcome through to the thoughroghly helpful explainations and solution focused disposition. Confidence is everything when deciding who's hands to place the saftey and wellbeing of yourself
And that off your passengers.
However, the challenge in setting such high standards is maintaining them. To date that challenge appears to be handled well. Hope it continues.
A. A.Excellent service and supportive company. Because they are independent MOT testers I'd always go here as they don't have other interests. To elaborate on this point, you can go to some places that also do servicing and repairs... And guess what.... You end up with your arm twisted and have to get work done. But with these guys it seems sincere and beneficial for the consumer.

They are probably the most expensive in the area but you get what you pay for, which in this case is a very thorough and unbiased inspection of your vehicle, along with friendly and accommodating service. Make sure you ask for a loyalty discount card which gives you 50% off your 4th MOT.

I booked my MOT for the next day afternoon in advance through their website which is very simple and easy.
On the test day - they have a waiting area with windows so you can take a look at what they're doing, and a couple of testers inspecting the car in a thorough manner.
My Honda Civic passed with only two advisories, receptionist Sheren & Tester Ahmed were very friendly. Definitely will recommend this centre to everyone.
