From speedy emergency recovery to running diagnostics and completing the relevant repair, the whole experience was seamless and made really easy on my end. Communication was excellent the whole time and work was completed in a timely manner. Every person I spoke to at varying stages was really friendly, polite and happy to answer all my questions. Pricing and work needed to be done was transparently communicated- very competitively priced too. Baileyfield Garage turned a stressful experience right around and I've just about forgotten how my clutch decided to pack it in on a busy road during rush hour. Highly recommend this business.

Wonderful service last night. Phoned @ 11.30pm with flat tyre after son hit pot hole, car was picked up and he was home within the hour. My wife's bike wouldn't start when we were out for a spin. After a quick call, they turned up within about 10 mins, and started it with an external battery charger. As it's suspected to be the alternator causing the issue, he followed us home to central Edinburgh just in case the bike stalled again and we were stuck. In my opinion, service above and beyond, for a very reasonable fee. Would defo use again.

This is the quickest I've ever gone online to leave a review. Fantastic company. Great service. My car had a flat battery, as I've been unable to drive for 10 weeks due to a back injury. They were here in about 20 minutes. The employee who came out was fantastic! He even stayed for an extra 30 minutes to wait with my car while the battery charged, as I was unable to take my car for the usual recommended immediate drive due to my injury. So grateful. Visiting Edinburgh from Manchester just a day before Easter holidays, car broke down (drive shaft came off) on Portobello Rd. Guy named DAVID (i believe the Owner) came from this garage and he was just awesome. So friendly and caring. He couldnt have helped us more. He towed the car, and said he will give a call next morning with a quote and if he can get the car repaired or not (depending if he has the parts available). Not only he called us with a quote, repaired the car same day by afternoon (as he knew we have to leave for Aberdeen same day). He really saved the trip for us. Thanks guys (Y)

David was extremely helpful in diagnosing the problem with my car, getting it promptly onto the tow truck and getting me home in no time. There are not many experiences left in consumerism where you're not left feeling pretty hollow from dealing with businesses. This is one of the few such experiences I've had in recent years. They truly did everything they could to make things easier for me. On one occasion the guy I spoke to said that, due to the fact that the repairs on my car had been completed after opening hours, he would personally drive the car to my house as long as I could give him a lift back! Every aspect of the service I received was excellent and I would happily use them again and recommend them to anyone.

50 minutes from calling to a fix in the garage! The car wouldn't start and within 10 minutes a mechanic appeared at the house to jump start me and escort to the garage. A quick battery test to confirm that was definitely the issue followed by a replacement. Unbelievable level of service and efficiency!

Jamie saved me almost £70 tonight by going above and beyond. I phoned at almost ten on a Saturday night trying to avoid paying the £136 my insurance company wanted me to pay to get me and my car 36 miles home.(My insurance includes roadside assistance and recovery) I hoped Baileyfields would do the job for less but Jamie had a better idea. He had the tyre in the garage and would fit it for me. On a Saturday night!! Jamie is my hero.

Baileyfield to the Rescue! My gear shifter broke as I was in the middle of a complicated day, but their expert arrived, ripped the cover off and tied the broken cheap plastic linkage with a cheap plastic tie. That broke too so he whipped out a better quality tie, saying he wasn't going to waste a good one if it wasn't going to work. I ended up with 4 out of 5 gears working, and it all took about 10 minutes once he arrived in his allotted time. Amazing Scottish dexterity and expertise.

I would highly recommend this garage. Took my car to two other garages (including Vauxhall dealership) who told me my car could not be fixed without massive expense. Then took it to Baileyfield... they detected the problem the others didn't detect and fixed it at a fraction of the price. An excellent garage. It goes out of its way to address very tricky situations and for that I am truly grateful. My car was broken into, the window smashed and the electrics torn up. Since it's an old vehicle, the parts were difficult to source and fix, but David, the manager, took it in his stride and spent a great deal of time helping to get the car more theft-proof and secure for the future. This was beyond the call of duty for a relatively inexpensive job while the final price was more than honest. Highly recommended, plus they have their own Recovery Service so they deal with everything from start to finish.

They were prompt in arriving and couldn't be more helpful in explaining the cause of the fault and how to prevent it from happening again. I appreciated the honest, helpful and free advice as I know nothing about cars they could have quite easily taken me for a ride! Unfortunely, shortly after the repair the (very old) car had another fault and I had no hesitation calling bailey field. Again, they arrived promptly, were very friendly and took the car away to be repaired. The next day I went to pick up the car, the garage stayed open past their usual time for me to come after work! We had a flat tyre in a car park at 9.00 pm on Sunday night. Having never changed a tyre on this car before we were having problems. A Baileyfield Garage van came into the car park to assist someone who had called them out and asked us on the way past what was wrong. After fixing the other car he came across to us and offered to help. Within ten minutes he had changed the tyre for us and explained that the spare tyre was only a temporary measure and that we should purchase a new tyre as soon as possible. He was professional, helpful and at no time did we feel that we were an inconvenience. Baileyfield Garage has superb customer service and I would recommend this Garage to anyone. My Vauxhall Vivaro broke down less than three days before we were due to go away on holiday. It was something to do with the gear cable and the thing was stuck at a busy junction, unable to be moved as it was stuck in gear. We called Baileyfield on the grounds that they were one of the nearest to us and we were delighted by the service we received. We had a lovely guy called (I think) Dave turn up within 10 minutes and he turned the key, tried the gears and sussed out the problem in mere seconds. Twenty minutes after that, with the aid of some gaffer tape, we had the van moved to a safe location and were able to go away on our holiday with complete peace of mind. Now, don't get me wrong! The gaffer tape isn't a permanent fix, it was just so we could get it out of danger and parked up. Dave (I think) asked us to post a review online in lieu of any payment (what a dude) and, not having time before we left, I'm doing it now. Sorry guys for the delay. I'll be in touch to book the van in not just for the repair, but for a service and an MOT as well. You've won my business for keeps. In summary, if you have a vehicle and need a good garage, use these guys. They will not disappoint you!

These guys are fantastic. I was recently quoted over £1000 of work from a free "health check" on my Mini from Peter Vardy while it was in their garage having a simple oil service. Turned out almost all of the "essential repairs" that I needed to carry out weren't actually necessary at all. I'm so glad I took the car over to Bailyfield for a second option, I've ended up instead having to spend a fifth of that replacing my front tyres only. These guys are a proud independent local business and we're lucky to have them in our community.

We can't thank Baileyfield enough - having broken down near Inverness at 5pm we had a long wait before getting to Edinburgh (not our destination) between 12 and 1am via two other recovery companies. They arrived promptly and were going to take us, as agreed with the breakdown insurance company, an hour further down the A1 (still an hour away from home). After learning that we would then be left in Berwick in the early hours (until 8am - the earliest it seems that onward rescue had been arranged) after a long journey with a 5 and 9 year old, the person who rescued us kindly made arrangements so he could drive us all the way home adding 2 hours plus to his journey.
