Fantastic alternative to dealer service. Very knowledgeable. Service from Craig was outstanding. Such a friendly person. Brought my car in for diagnostics and they even fixed some electrical issues at no extra charge. And when I said I would like to attempt to repair some bigger issues myself, Craig even gave me some pointers on how to do it. Recommend to everyone who needs their Volvo looked at.

Extremely impressed with pragmatic & experienced professionalism from Craig & team. I've been looking for somewhere to look after my 2012 V60 into it's old age >140k miles, this is definitely the place! Quickly diagnosed and fixed a nagging squealing from wheel wells that's been plaguing the car for over 2 years and had £££ spent trying to resolve from both main dealers & various mechanics. Might pay a bit extra for genuine parts, but much better value for money in the long term.

Fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable - even though I just turned up of the street they were able to fit me in at very short notice before they closed for Christmas. Parts were in stock and I was offered a lift home whilst they did the work. They phoned when they said they would to tell me the car was ready, having done all the work I'd asked (timing belts) and even taken the time to fix a little issue on the side (spring on the clutch pedal). I'm new to Volvo ownership and will most definitely be back in the future as and when any maintenance is needed.

I have an 11 year old Volvo V50 1.6D that's been frankly hell to own. Reliable? Volvo? Turns out my car was a love child of Ford and Peugeot where they took all the least reliable parts of both, stuck them together with blu tack and put a Volvo badge on it. This car never worked properly. There was always a warning light of some type, or dangerously reduced power, or both. It had been to literally every garage in East Lothian and most parts that weren't the actual engine were replaced. Apparently replaced with potatoes. Each garage the car went to it came out worse. By now I was into the car for way more than it was worth so definitely a case of the 'sunk cost fallicy'. I was determined, but jeez give me a break it was equally determined to be abandoned and sold for parts. A guy on Volvo V50 forum suggested I try Craig Moncreiff Cars as they had a reputation for fixing cars that other garages had given up on. Into Edinburgh I 'popped' at under 30mph and with no acceleration to speak of in an interesting rush hour journey and handed the keys over. Time passed (it was covid) and they did their voodoo magicks. I picked the car up and they'd replaced the potatoes with actual functioning parts and the car was definitely improved. It did however need a new turbo and at that point I just couldn't throw another £800 at the car, so off home I drove. 2 weeks later I was back, gleaming turbo in hand and they fitted it - as well as replacing the final potato ( non Volvo egr valve) and adding a huge number of bolts and fixings the various other garages had lost or broken. The car is now a rocket ship. It's amazing. It's a miracle. It works perfectly, flawlessly, even the stop start function which till then had never ever worked. I'd become so used to how terrible the car was I've had to relearn how to drive. Roundabouts are no longer a terror. Nobody peeps as I pull out and proceed at a walking pace. The thing flies! I love the car, I love the garage. Life is great! I also learned 2 valuable lessons - model specific specialists are worth their weight in gold. #2 Amazon and eBay car parts are gawdawful. We’ve just bought a 2012 XC60. Car seems to be in great condition but about 2 weeks after taking delivery it started to make a strange squeaking / rattle. I did a search for Volvo specialists and found Craig and his team. I called him up, booked the car in and on the day I arrived Craig listened, understood the issue and offered me a lift back to my office. He couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I got a call later that the issue was rubber seal that when the weathers hot, starts to rub and makes the noise. I reckon your typical franchise would have cost me £100’s in investigations and possibly incorrect fixes. Craig and his teams knowledge of Volvo’s is superb and they seem to sixth sense in trouble shooting issues. Yesterday I took the car in without an appointment as it seemed to have lost power. Craig got one of his guys to check out the car and a small pipe had discontented from one of the turbo’s. This was identified and fixed within the 10 minutes and at no cost!! Craig’s also fitted new suspension arms for us which again were completed quickly and at a very reasonable cost compared to a main franchise dealer. So, they do great customer service, they have excellent knowledge of cars and how to fix them and are fast and efficient. Probably most importantly, Craig and his team are honest and will ensure we’ll be going back to Craig for the cars services and other work of required.

I asked a question and I received a straight answer. The problem I experienced was fixed first time at the advised cost. Craig Moncrieff Cars is a rare thing in the world of garages - a trust worthy, exceptionally knowledgeable establishment that delivers on it promises and comes through as very good value . I've been hugely impressed with them, and so far they have looked after our Range Rover and Transit Van. I've been hugely impressed with the level of detail and understanding Craig and his team have regardless of the marque of the car. Main dealers would do well to follow this example and I don't see myself taking any of our cars elsewhere. Superb, highly rated, and genuinely customer focused. Reputation matters to this garage and their service levels reflect that.

By far the most knowledgeable specialist I have ever dealt with. My 2010 Lotus Evora EPS was transformed after a major service at 30,000 miles. Tweaks to the induction were really effective, the bushes were replaced on the suspension and new disks an pads + all the usual oil changes etc. So a big service but sensible money form a great team. Fantastic also to see some of the other Lotus's being serviced at the time. On top of all this the garage is 200m from a tram stop and because I was coming over from Cumbria, all the work was done the same day and I got to have a great day out in Edinburgh (The picture is of the monument)

Had my Volvo in for a re occurring fault that the dealer couldn't fix. After an initial call to Craig, he had a good understanding of the fault even over the phone and diagnosed it quickly. Five star service and five star workmanship. I have had my (new to me) Lotus Elise back from Craig Moncrieff for around a month now and it is running perfectly. But that does not tell even half the story of just how good a service I received from Craig Moncrieff. I bought my car from a Lotus dealer down south. After a few months of mounting problems I found Craig Moncrieff's name on a Lotus forum. I spoke to Craig on the telephone and he told me to just bring the car in and they would look at it. It transpired that the dealer from down south from whom I bought the car had not prepared the car well. A discussion ensued. Craig's advice and assistance through what was a difficult process was excellent. Craig explained the problems (and solutions required) to the dealer for me and sent photographs in support. The result was that the Lotus dealer from down south bore the cost of the work required to bring the car up to standard and I now have a first rate Lotus Elise (which is every bit as good as they say about these fantastic cars). And Craig, well he now has a very loyal and grateful customer. As I said, five star service and five star workmanship.

Top-notch garage that threatens to give the motor trade a good name. It was a pleasure to deal with both Craig and Jim the mechanic. Experienced the strange feeling that they actually liked customers. Also learned a lot about my Volvo (C30), as they took time to explain my problem (diagnostic). Professional, Customer driven team, Trustworthy, Experienced, Affordable, Car enthusiast I had engine oil leak under the bonnet of my car (Astra 2006 model) for some time which has been looked by 1 garage with no success and money spent for no reason. The car was really noisy as it would run out of oil very quickly. I had recently moved to Edinburgh and was looking for a good trust worthy garage near Edinburgh Park who had the knowledge of the car inside and out. After researching online I picked Craig Moncrieff as it had positive reviews. I planned to leave the car in the morning before starting my day job. First impression when I reached the garage, this was one of the garages which looked like a car showroom, clean n tidy with no oil patches on ground and friendly team. I had to start work so I left my car; they offered to drop me at work which was unusual for a garage as I was never offered this by previous garages. Craig called me to update me on the status as he worked on car and progressed throughout the day. As the oil was all over the engine it found challenging to figure out precisely what the issue was. The team offered to steam clean and fill the engine oil for free and asked me to drive the car for a week so that the oil leak can be identified. The Freebie came as a surprise to me as I had never hear of freebie from garage, and Craig emphasised that his boys are enthusiastic bunch of individuals and want to attend to the car in the most efficient and effective way. He has a different approach to conventional garage which works on bilateral trust between his team and clients. They didn’t charge a penny for the first visit as the oil leak was still outstanding. The car was in the garage after a week, the team were able to locate the cause of the leak and was sorted within 24 hrs. I was worried about the final bill as perception of such garages is felt on the pocket. I was pleasantly surprised with the bill and the quality of work. The bill is very detailed where work carried out on the car is summarized which comes handy if the problem is not resolved. Craig explained me the root cause and what work has been carried out on the car to resolve the issue. The car engine was cleaned and tidied, never did the car engine looked so shiny. Overall, my experience with the Craig Moncrieff was positive. After all the work the car engine was much smoother, and is much enjoyable to drive. There has been no oil leak and the car is performing the way it should be over the past week. The team was very efficient in repairing the car, I was kept informed of the work and above all the bill came to me as a pleasant surprise. I recommend this team of experts to anyone who loves their car and want the cars to be looked after by responsible team of experts. The way this team is heading I am sure the other garages are going to envy them.

Craig is an absolute genius, I had a heating problem with my Volvo V70 another garage closer to me told me that they would have to remove the complete dashboard to rectify the problem and get Volvo involved due to not having the right computer equipment. I then took the car to Craig and he had the problem rectified in a day without removing the dash. I would recommend that anyone with a Volvo,Lotus or any other car that needs electrical work or computer needed to investigate the problem then Craig is the right man to go to. I would not hesitate to return to him for any future problem's.

My wife & I had 2 cars booked in for MOT's and services today. A Lotus Evora S and an petrol Evoque. Great service all day from Craig with lots of contact as to progress. We drove through from Dunblane for this and had planned to walk or taxi round to the tram to spend a day shopping in Edinburgh, (however the atrocious weather put paid to much of that.) Craig happily dropped us off at the station and picked us up again later. We returned earlier than planned and one of the cars wasn't quite ready but he kept us plied with lovely coffee and the usual banter. My wife even commented that the toilet was more boutique hotel than garage. As usual the cars were well presented and nothing too much trouble for Craig for some of the niggles we had requested he look at. The final bills were very acceptable, considering the work done and in comparison to main dealer prices.

Since buying my Elise I've used CMC for brakes, radiator and a general engine running issue. Craig has been nothing less than helpful on all occasions - even picking me up from the train station. The original problem I had was a vibration which I had originally thought to be a wheel buckling issue. Craig and his team tracked this down to a drake disc being warped and sorted for a very reasonable price saving me the cost of a new set of alloys. Would not hesitate in recommending Craig and his team to anyone. The garage is as spotless as a dealers showroom with comfy leather chairs and Craig makes a cracking barista quality coffee.

The perfect garage experience. Warm & friendly, highly competent & utterly honest (I know a bit about cars and there's no flannel with these guys.) They've done work on my VX220 & VW Golf and, although they specialise in the high performance Lotuses etcetera, each time I've been in, they've had a whole range of ordinary and unusual cars being worked on, from a Micra to an older, classic Merc. Not quite as cheap as a back street lock-up but very reasonable given the high standards & professionalism; downright cheap for the specialist stuff (Lotus and VX220.) My experience is that I come away feeling like I've saved money, have confidence from having experts working on my car & an all-round feel good experience. They're certainly entrusted with some very specialist and high tech machinery from other, more affluent customers and seem to have a very loyal customer base. You get a great, relaxed, no pressure conversation from Craig too, for whom nothing seems to be too much trouble. Even though he's plainly busy, he will happily take time to tell you a bit about some of the cars they have in. The guys really know their stuff! They're definitely not your run-of-the-mill mechanics and Callum in particular is one of a kind. Can't recommend highly enough.

Very late on Sunday 23rd December the brakes on our car weren’t responding. To compound matters, our car was old and had Dutch licence plates. My husband frantically left messages at every Volvo specialist or garage he could find. Much to our delight Craig heard our message and called back first thing on Christmas Eve After speaking to my husband he'd narrowed it down to 2 possibilities. The first, no problem. The 2nd scenario might be problematic as it required a specific part required for our old model. Prior to the tow truck arriving at his spotless garage he'd phoned every garage in Edinburgh looking for this essential part. Unsuccessful, he managed to get the part couriered from Glasgow just in case it was required. He then dropped my husband and I off at a local shopping centre to while away the time before he picked us up again in OUR car. The repair was done within a couple of hours without any hassle whatsoever. In fact he’d inflated our spare tyre and replaced an indicator bulb too. This was Christmas Eve. We were stranded and desperate. He could have charged a fortune for he had us over a barrel and yet he didn’t. His rate was half the price of the Volvo dealership and he minimised the work required to get us on the move again. He was a true gent and we can’t rate this company high enough. A true Christmas miracle!

I can't speak highly enough of the experience I had at Craig Moncrieff cars. He and his team put other garages to shame. During the search for my replacement Range Rover, I instructed a full vehicle inspection and report from Land Rover. Naturally I assumed there would be an element of 'fat' and Range Rover tax in the remedial works suggested to be carried out but I'm certainly not qualified to say one way or another. I called Craig and he asked me to send the report to him. He called me back to let me know what the "real" cost of the proposed works were likely to be. After purchase one of the car's first journeys was to Craig Moncrieff Cars for the suggested works to be carried out. Whilst the car was in there, Craig and his team noticed a fairly significant issue that the Land Rover technicians themselves had missed during their (two hour, 165 point) check. Craig fully explained matters to me technically then in layman's terms. He also sent me a video so that I could send that on to Land Rover and highlight what they missed. He then set about rectifying the issue. Land Rover have apologised for missing the issue and will meet the cost of repairs. Craig's advice, expertise and assistance are 2nd to none. I would not hesitate to recommend him and his team to friends and family and colleagues. If you're not using the services of Craig Moncrieff cars at present, no matter how good the service you think you're getting elsewhere, you're missing out. Professionalism redefined.
