I wanted to leave 5 stars, however it just wasn't 5 star service. Firstly, through no fault on their own, I had to being my service forward by a day as they are short staffed (Covid). This was an issue re getting lifts sorted etc but I got it sorted. However, it meant we had to leave the vehicle over night. Upon collecting the car I see a tatty A4 bit of paper (see image) saying I need sign into the car park system or I could get a fine. This was not pointed out to me at the time for an issue caused by the centre (leaving over night due to moving the appointment) When I raised the issue with the staff they didn't seem interested and just said couldn't help. I am now waiting to see if I get a fine. Secondly the car was left unlocked all night in central Ipswich. Thankfully nothing was taken but this is pretty poor from the persom who left it there. Thirdly the car was in for a full service yet no one thought to fill in the service book even though left on the front seat for them to do. Lastly, I had been sent a discount code which wasn't applied and I had to chase getting this actioned. A shame as otherwise it was a good service.

I had my BMW car serviced. At a very reasonable price. The staff were very good, they were very helpful and polite. Especially Adam. My car was ready on time. I definitely recommend it. I am very satisfied.

Booked a Major Service and dropped my car at 8.30am which was the slot i booked. They recommended i had some fuel cleaner which would cost £30. And i said yes. They said we recommend you keep the entire day clear for a service, as it could take some time. At 12.30 I rang to check how my car was getting on, and was told they are currently working on it. At 4pm I rang again to check and they said it would be another 30 minutes, we'll call you back. They didnt. The garage shuts at 5pm, so i turned up at the garage at 4.55pm and they said yeah its all done. You paid online so no payment needed. So assume they didnt do the fuel cleaner. The invoice had body report pictures with 10.15am on the time stamp. So essentially a major service took 9 hours. On a car that had nothing wrong it. So if you're wanting a service from Halfords, and they say, give them all day. They mean it. Pretty sure other garages would take 2 hours at most for the initial service and the rest of the day for any repairs. But considering i had nothing wrong with mine, im staggered it took almost 9 hours!

I'm being more than indulgent. I am pleased with the work Vs cost but not at all with the customer service side of it which I believe they realised by the end and didn't add more cost. At no point I was called or informed about what went wrong or if the car was ready. I even called to ask as I waited the hole day and the guy could not give me any details , said he's going to call back but never did, therefore there is no point in booking in early as you still going to be all day. I've been going to various Halfords until now and after this experience I am thinking to change at least for next year.

Fantastic Professional and Timely service from Sam and team at the Halfords Ipswich Autocentre, Commercial Road. As a woman taking my car for an MOT can be challenging but I was pleasantly surprised by the Professional and timely service I received . I’m somebody who knows a thing or two about cars and asks questions🙂. My car had a full service and MOT . The price was affordable and well worth it. Had an MOT at the Ipswich branch. Staff were very polite and friendly. Although the car failed the MOT, the reasons were fair and valid. I had the repair done elsewhere (although to be fair the Halfords quoted repair price was only £30 more than I paid at my local garage) I took it back for a retest within the 10 days indicated and passed within 5 minutes of the re-inspection. All in all a very good service. Recommended

The service was provided but I was disappoonted with the customer service, I delivered the car at 8:30 in the morning and was adivsed the car would be ready by noon and around 16:00 (4h after the proposed date) after no receiving any piece of information if there was any problem with my Service & MOT, I decided to contact them, after making contact with service desk, they ask "for a sec" and after holding for 5 minutes, I find out my car "has just" finished its service. I'd appreciate a better customer service a keeping the customer better informed if the suggested time is not going to be achieved.

Visited this store on Thursday with my daughter as she needed replacement headlight bulbs for her vehicle. The service provided by two male members of staff was outstanding. Both went out of their way to assist and were extremely polite, knowledgeable and did the job in two minutes! Fantastic service would definitely recommend.

I booked my car in for an MOT, I wanted to be able to book and pay online and Halfords was one of the garages in Ipswich giving that option. It was cheap too. The process was really easy, booked a time and paid online, took car in all very organised and clean with social distancing measures in place. It was the most straightforward MOT I’ve ever had done. I was concerned about taking my car here for a service and MOT after reading some of the reviews here. What I can say from my experience was, good friendly staff, excellent communication. I received email conformation after I booked my appointment and received phone calls from the staff throughout the day while they were doing the work, to let me know where they were at and when the car would be ready for collection. I also received an unexpected £10 voucher for the store, which was a handy surprise. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because of price, Halfords charge £94 per hour for labour. We don’t expect them to work for minimal wage but £94 is more than double local competitors, best having major work done else where.

I recently took my car to Halfords Autocentre Ipswich for a MOT & Starter motor to be fitted. I was expected, politely welcomed and was to to return in 1hr 45min. After 1hr 30min I received a call to say it needed a brake bulb and a ball joint, which I authorised & was told to give them another 30 min, I said ok. When I returned it was not ready. It was ready after 3hrs after I left the car, much longer than I was initially told, it was cold, windy, & with Covid there was nowhere I could shelter. Also I think to repairs were overpriced - I know they use Euro Car parts so I enquired the prices. Bulb £1-50 - fitted I was charged £6-00 Ball Joint £12-00 - fitted I was charged £65-00 ( Only 3 bolts ) Starter motor £90-00 - fitted I was charged £165 (Again only 3 bolts & 1 nut) I think to charge £132-50 was excessive for fitting 3 very simple items.

Will never return to this garage. Communication and knowledge was appalling. Wasn't given a rough price for 23hrs even though no parts were required. Overcharged for simple labour for MOT. Requested call backs which never happened. Was told it would be fixed by 6pm Friday after going in that morning. Wasn't actually seen or dealt with until next afternoon. No apology. Receptionist kept calling me "darling". Update: I got a full refund after complaining to head office last year. So decided that I would give the garage another shot with MOT this year. And I am very glad that I did. Dropped off car and waited. New receptionist who was very professional and friendly. Work was completed in an hour and passed with no issues.

Happy with the service from the centre but not particularly happy as I had prepaid in full for my tyres online, only to be told there was £16 to pay outstanding. I paid it begrudgingly because I needed my car. UPDATE 31.5.19 I've since received a £60 parking fine from the company who operates the car park for being over the 90 minutes time limit. I shall be round to the branch to discuss this with the manager.

Just enjoyed fantastic service from the team at Halfords. Firstly they accepted my car this morning with no booking after it came up with an oil pressure warning. Then they checked it, filled up the oil and best of all did not charge as I have used them a lot in the last couple of years. That's how to treat a loyal customer and guess what ... I have used this Autocentre for the past six years and have been very satisfied with the standard and quality of service provided. My clutch pedal came loose as I was driving. Had to get a tow truck to take the car to Halfords, where I always get my MOT done. They looked at it a couple of days later, and it was a plastic clip that had broken. Had to order it, and then they fixed it on. Also checked all my tyres and my heated windscreen that doesn't work. They were brilliant. And the bill was very reasonable. Cant ask for better. Thankyou to all at Halfords, and very friendly and helpful.

I booked in online to have two front tyres fitted as they had worn on the outer edges. I booked in for a 9.30-10.30 slot. I arrived at 9.15 and asked the manager to check the tracking as well. I was still sitting there at 10.15 and my car had just been driven into the bay, 45 minutes late. At 10.45 they brought my car back and said we haven't got time to do your tracking, you will have to re book. I therefore have to loose time off work to go down to the garage again to have the tracking checked which is costing me money through loss of wages.

Been bringing my now 16 year old Previa here for servicing and MOT for last 3 or 4 years, after relying on a main Toyota dealer before then. and it passes its MOT without the need for any work. This tells me they're not trying to rip me off. There may be a no frills waiting area, but then I'm not paying for them. Came in last week with a headlamp bulb failure. It's difficult to change because things need to be removed from under the bonnet to get access. Yet they charged a very reasonable price. When they suggested I also got my lenses polished, I took their advice and can now see much better at night.

He let me know what information he needed from me, where I could access the information, when he needed to order the tyre by, when he would receive the tyre and when he would be able to get it fitted.
