I’ve had my Audi for a good while now and was not ready to part with it when it the gearbox started playing up. I spoke to Mike on the phone and he arranged collection of my car for a diagnostic test which I was not charged for. Without any sign, the gearbox in my Chevrolet Captiva failed to function and I used to do the service for my car at the same dealer and they never advised me to change the gearbox oil until it stopped completely. I asked few engineers but no one was honest or knows what’s he can do until I found through the internet a local garage called:” Automatic Man @ Acton W3 7 SG I called to enquire about the procedure and a nice lady gave me all the informations, so I brought my car there at evening time and I dropped the car keys in the letterbox. In the morning I called to make sure that everything ok, the Engineer Mike replied by don’t worry the car it will be ready within 5 days. After 5 days my car was ready and everything worked perfect. So from my experience, this garage is highly recommended with confidence as they are very professional, respect the time and provide very good quality of work. Thanks everyone @ Automatic Man 👍👍

Mike is a joy to deal with - a true automotive craftsman - he fixed (with Brendan’s help) the sick gearbox on my e38 BMW and in a matter of days and a not unreasonable amount of money later she’s as good as new. WHAT CAN I SAY! I took my Jaguar to a local dealer. They told me that changing the oil and filter would cure the problem and cost me £500. I drove my vehicle for a few days but it had actually made the problem worse. I took my car into Mike and he took the time to explain to me that changing the oil and filter does not make the transmission unworn. I felt totally comfortable to leave my Jag in his hands. I got it back on time and in budget and working like new again. I would recommend their services to anyone. Friendly advice and good service. Mr Bennett

Cannot rate repair as diagnostics revealed that it would be as expensive as cost of my poor old Honda, but can rate the service. Mike was very polite and kind on the phone, available to help as for all it is urgent when car breaks down. And they really do the diagnostics for free, unlike plenty other dodgy garages (I paid in another place for diagnostics which was wrong!). They are real specialist for gearboxes.

Courteous craftsmen. Automatic Man rebuilt the auto box on my Mercedes E270 W211 estate last year. It has run beautifully since until the gear oil pump failed unexpectedly last week. Although this was not part of the original rebuild, Mike took the view the pump should be included in his 1 year warranty so made the repair immediately free of charge. It is rare to get such honorable service and I am very grateful

After visiting so many places which seemed to be endless trying to get my Mitsubishi Pajero fixed. I was disappointed that I could not find a place which could repair the vehicle, they all seemed to very reluctant to do anything, due to the complexity and other problems involved. Anyway after searching the internet, I landed here, and I am glad to say what an excellent choice I made, they did not refuse me and fixed the problem. This garage gets a 10 out of 10 from me! I contacted Mike at automatic man concerning my disabled Dad's Ford S-Max I was very concerned that he would be without a car for a long time. Mike made us feel very at ease with the whole situation, and to leave it with him. Within a week Mike had found the problem and fixed it! My Dad was back on the road in no time. I would really like to give more stars. I didn't really have a good experience with this garage. BUT I must say the final outcome was ok. Took my car car in initially for Auto gear repair in June. Went to collect car. OMG. Someone had been smoking in the car. The car stank with cigarette smoke. I was just thankful the car was fixed. So I thought. Within a few days had absolutely no gears. Garage arranged for a pick up. Thankfully car was fixed within a week. Went to pick it up, car was covered in bird droppings, which had effected the paint work. The thing that made me mad was there was no explanation as to why my car broke down in the first place or even an apology. In fact the mechanic did not even speak to me. I like to be fair in my reviews hence the 3 🌟. Its been 8 months and the gear box is fine. Not 100 percent but enough to get me places. From other people's reviews this seems to be an odd occurance. Maybe I just got unlucky.

Took my Chevrolet Cruze to them with a gear box problem. When the diagnostics was done they quoted me 1000-1600 + vat, a day before picking the car up was quoted 1800 + and then finally on the day was charged 2100 + vat. Overall the issue seems to have been fixed but If I knew it would cost so much more , would have given it a second thought , as that wasn’t in my budget ..They have however given me a one year warranty. Which I guess is a good thing ..

On the advice from a female friend I took my car to automatic man, as I have taken my car to other garages in the past & been ripped off. My gear box had started to make funny noises & the car wasn't running properly, I had already taken it to another garage who had quoted me an astronomical figure, saying that it needed this, that & the other doing, but I didn't trust them & said that I was taking it elsewhere for a second quote. I then went to automatic man & Mike explained to me exactly what the problem was (in a language I could understand lol) & it turned out that I actually only needed half the work doing that I had previously been quoted for & also for a fraction of the price, happy days. Automatic Man was recommended to me by a friend when I was having car trouble with my vauxhall corsa. I had a warning light come up on my dash I took it to Automatic Man who put it on a machine to test it while i popped to the local cafe it was a very wet miserable day and the last thing I wanted to do was hang about! Mike told me the problem but I had no idea so Mike very kindly offered to speak to my partner. I left the car at Automatic Man and when I returned the car drove like it was brand new. The staff made me feel very welcome and I felt at easy that they would deal with my patner being as Im no expert at cars. i would highly recommend Automtic Man to anyone! 10/10

I could not find fault with automatic man services. I have had a conversion from manual to automatic last week. I did not realise this was actually possible, I left the car with Mike for just under a week. Since getting her back I have done around 400 miles this week and it has been faultless. Mike knew his stuff. Originally, it had an issue with going into 4th and 5th. It did not go in. It was only in conversation I mentioned I prefer autos and wish I bought an automatic car instead when mike said he could repair the manual box or fit a reconditioned automatic gearbox in the car. It was more expensive but I have put a lot of money into her so decided to bit the bullet and get her converted. One very please customer.

Modern Auto boxes are a world away from the lumps designed in the 70's and 80's when fuel efficiency was not a consideration in their design, where once all their components were hewn from pig iron they are now formed from the lightest alloys machined to the tightest of tolerances and all operated using highy sophisticated electronic components and hydraulic control modules, they are, in effect, state of the art electro-mechanical devices and will simply not deliver the number of miles before failure that their predecessors did. When the auto box on my Dodge Journey failed i did some research and discovered it to be a known problem with the unit. I got three different quotes including one garage in Wimbledon that were not even interested to look at it because 'its American' It turns out the unit in my dodge a double clutch Getrag unit is the same as the Ford Galaxy, so their loss of my business. Mike at Automatic man impressed me with his no nonsense attitude and his small team of guys plus a a garage with Range Rovers and Volvos all waiting for gearbox work. I was happy with the quality of work and the price, and the 12 month parts and labour guarantee, my Dodge jounrney is a transformed driving experience after Mike fitted a new clutch and dual mass flywheel. Thank you for a great job guys.
