I enjoyed buying my new alternator here. It was a pleasure to deal with Pete. A pleasant patient, honest and straightforward expert in his business. My boat alternator burnt out. It was an odd make and quite old. Pete quickly diagnosed the problem and offered to find a replacement. He called the next day to say he had got one. It needed two modifications which he did. He gave me valuable advice about fitting and wiring it. Finally it cost a lot less than I expected. He would be my first port of call with any future electrical problems. Can't recommend him and his business highly enough. Thank you. Ray

I am extremely happy with the professional service and advise I received from Peter at Unistart. My alternator had packed up and I had looked online for a replacement but found the prices to be extremely expensive for my Porsche (£500 - £800). I have had alternators repaired before on previous cars so looked online and found Unistart. I contact them late Saturday afternoon and was told to bring it down the same day so he could see it. I dropped it off and we agreed for him to recondition my alternator. After opening up the alternator Peter found it was completely burnt out. The coil was black and the electrical components had melted. He sent me pictures of the damage and said he could replace all the required parts but for the price he suggested I would he better off replacing it. He checked his suppliers and was able to find me a brand new alternator for less than half the price of any of the ones I found online and it was made by Bosch ! He had it ordered in and I picked it up the next day. I would highly recommend Unistart to any and everyone. In this day and age it rare to find a business where they put service before profit. I managed to save hundreds of pounds using them and also learnt a lot about how an alternator works. Thank you Peter 🍻

I highly recommend "Unistart" Great costumer service and very helpful, very professional and quick turnaround in my case same day repair. Had my car stoped for 3 weeks because I couldn't find a new Alternator to replace my damaged one. From a Phone call away to a 1h repair to a running car again.

My dad's alternator on his Kia broke. We spoke with Peter on the phone who said to bring the part to him. Peter took a look and diagnosed the issue and swiftly repaired and rebuilt the alternator in an hour. Peter is a very gentle, friendly and knowledgeable technician, which was very reassuring and he explained everything very clearly. It is hard to find places like this anymore. We managed to get the alternator repaired and fitted same day, otherwise we were struggling to find a replacement part. Highly recommended for any alternator issues. The unit is located in an industrial street off wick street and there is a spot to park while you drop off, so convenient.

Brilliant service. Took my 40 year old faulty alternator to see if it could be repaired and it was fixed in half an hour for 60 quid which was fantastic. Got home, refitted it and it works perfectly!! Really friendly and helpful service. Would highly recommend.

Amazing service! Quick, reliable, friendly, honest and excellent value for money. I had both my alternators tested straight away while I was chatting away. One was shot, but the other working. They were very honest with me, saying they could fix it, but it wouldn't be my best option. The new replacement was perfect and they made sure that the alignment with the belts was perfect for me. I live on a canal boat and they seemed very well versed with my requirements and needs, it made me feel confident in them. Highly recommended!

Peter was incredibly helpful. Found me a replacement alternator at a good price in 48 hours. Couldnt ask for a better experience, will definitely use again.

From the outset, Peter was Knowledgeable and friendly. There are some people, whom when you speak to, you will know that they are a master of their craft. Peter at Unistart is just that, with a wealth of experience and a high professionalism. Peter entertained my questions without being pushy whatsoever, and i dropped the bmw Bosch (problematic) alternator off at 7.40pm, having been quoted a maximum of what id have to pay for the repair. Essentially this service is a 'same day' service depending on parts needed, but mine was done in a few for collection the next day or so. The regulator was changed with genuine parts, and i was very happy, i even wanted to pay before the work was completed! Ill use UNISTART again and have recommended them to a few mechanics already for future reference. The price is a 1/3 less than other places too. Peter and co and this business are from a generation of those that will never measure your custom, based on any "discriminant" factors, advice or anything else. Wish i could give ten stars! Thanks again Peter, and do not change a thing! (Apart from asking your customers to kindly leave you a review, as this is the LEAST that they can do). Big thanks to UNISTART for restoring faith in my BMW, and humanity!

Where else could you turn up at 4pm on a Saturday with a knackered vintage BMC starter motor and find an absolute expert who can recon by midday on Sunday? Within minutes of me walking through the door the starter was in bits and a diagnosis given. The gent helping me understood that we really needed to get the engine going and went out of his way to turn it around in a completely unreasonable time frame. It's rare to find people willing to repair rather than replace now, and we're lucky to have this place available to us! Support the experts and get your rotating stuff fixed here!

This company is great. I had a vauxhall vivarro van alternator fail. Firstly over the phone Pete gave great honest advice. Instead of taking the entire alternator off, I just took off the regulator (fifteen mins work) and took it in. He tested it with a good alternator and confirmed it was faulty, he then refurbished a good original quality stock regulator with new brushes. He drilled the old ones out and soldered in the new ones in front of me whilst we talked about Minis and engines of yestercentury. He charged very reasonable dough, and even offered to knock the price off any further refurbishment if required (if the remaining alternator had anything else wrong ). I fitted the regulator in 10 minutes when i got in and the van lives on. This skilled guy knows his stuff. (and he even did this on Sunday).

When I diagnosed my alternator was playing up, I thought I'd be without power on my boat for a while. I was recommended to give Unistart a call, and I'm glad I did! Pete there was great! He was really knowledgeable and talked through everything when it came to issues with my BMC 1.8. Incredible customer service. We needed a not so common glow plug controller and urgently, as without it we couldn’t start our boat engine.
