I have had a few bad experiences with local mechanics in MK such as QCS in Granby and AJ’s autos. MK mechanic undercut QCS BY £312 for the work I needed doing on my car. Shawn is by far the most affordable mechanic in Milton Keynes. He has done a fantastic job on my car and is a really decent and honest person. I will be using Shawn for all my car needs from now on. Used Shawn many times now, Just to say he is really busy and it was a misunderstanding from one occasion. As a converted skeptic -- I called up several mechanics before making a decision, remaining wary as I had nothing but my sheer ignorance to go on -- I can safely say my first experience using a mobile mechanic was exceptional. There was no question of driving our car to a garage, since the power steering was not working, and the battery reading 10V instead of a healthy 14. Shawn diagnosed the issue with our family car within 2 minutes of arriving, and was refreshingly transparent about part/labour costs from the start. He advised on the best quality vs budget replacement alternator, explained the difference between brands, as well as why it would be pricier even if we did make it to a garage -- something I suspected, but didn't know the reasons for. It was evident from all this that Shawn had a fair deal of experience. In fact, this was made even more obvious when he mentioned he hadn't previously replaced an alternator on a Verso/D4D -- the more someone professes to be an immaculate expert, the less brilliant they are (usually). We were in quite dire straits as the car was urgently needed for hospital and work trips. It was booked in for repair 2 days after we initially met. (I am writing this a week later, with no issues to report and several long trips made). Given Shawn's honesty, knowledge and prices that I daren't think I'll find again -- it was worth the slight wait. I'm also guessing it would have been booked in even quicker had Shawn not been doing all of the jobs on his own for a week, while other staff members were away on small summer breaks... Shawn kept me informed throughout the entire process of replacing our alternator with a brand new one straight from the box -- even demonstrating how he was going to do things and when. I greatly appreciated this, given how much I wanted to educate myself, hoping never to find myself in a situation again where I was so uncouth about the vehicle I'd been driving for 8 years. He also checked some of the oil/coolant levels and patiently answered some rather daft questions I asked. Initially, it seemed as though the drive shaft would have to be removed for the new alternator to be fitted, which would have cost more. But Shawn tried moving the drive shaft to the side instead, which was quite impressive lateral thinking on his part. He did not charge us more than the initial quote, and from the time the entire job took, I'm certain that nobody could have done a more thorough job getting the car back up and running again. I hope not to require mechanic services any time soon, but in a way, I'm somewhat saddened by that, given this unusually positive experience.

EXCELLENT! ... First and foremost Shawn was brilliant. I couldn’t recommend this company enough. I rarely write google reviews, I tend to only write them when I’ve had an either an exceptional or appalling experience and Shawn was the former. He came out the same day and seemed to genuinely care about my predicament (I had an electric window that wouldn’t close, it’s been heavily raining and I needed to take my family, including 2 year old daughter home 120 miles away). I felt he went out of his way to fix the issue with my car and wanted to make sure he was showing me the prices on the parts he was buying. He didn’t want to add anything on top, just the labour. He quoted me a price over the phone, and even though i think it took him longer than he originally estimated, he still charged me the same price and stuck to his word. I couldn’t have morally let him charge the price he offered, so gave him more on the labour, but that was offered from me and not asked for. If he has time and you have a problem with your car, call him. You will be happy you did.

Honestly these guys were great, especially Shawn who helped so much with my car! He literally went out of his way to solve the problem with my car whilst keeping costs down. Much cheaper than a garage and I don't think I would of had the same service if I had gone through one. He came to my house, fixed my car and got it in for an mot the next day!! They even picked it up and drove it back for me. Which was great, especially if you have kids. He Was really informative and helpful when it came to explaining about my car and answered any questions I had. Nice genuine guys and would highly recommend them. We highly recommend MK Mechanics and their service, we've called Shawn out several times to diagnose faults with our vans. Every time the fault has been diagnosed quickly and they provide a cost to repair which is always very reasonable, the work has always been carried out to a high standard and comes with a warranty which you won't get with many of the other mobile mechanics.
