We had a flat battery, and a red funnel ferry to catch. After a bump start to halfords, we met Simon on the door who immediately sorted us, fitting the battery, topping up all fluids and sorting the tyre pressures out. All extras were effectively free, with the vip membership which I was happy to pay for. Superb.

Booked it on the net the day before for 11am, when we got there I went into reception and the chap said good morning sir are you here for a battery, so quite impressed so far. It is not the biggest Halfords autocentre I have seen so not actually any waiting area but he did suggest that the Dunelm across the road is a good distraction, so we went across the road had a pleasant wander around the shop bought a couple of lamps we needed had a drink in their coffee shop and then received a call to say my car was ready. Made our way back and car good as new. Polite staff, good price and good quick service. What more could you want. Well done Isle of Wight branch.

Had a worrying squeal from my brakes so booked a brake check. Brakes checked and were found to be safe and sound. Suggested work was given, but as was still safe decided to postpone it until next service. Friendly staff, fast service and good communications. No pressure to go for work that wasn't needed and didn't find any made up issues. Eg: Most places I've been to always say the tyres need replacing even when they're brand new, but this place seemed honest!

The work carried out was a bit pricier than it would’ve been at your run of the mill mechanic’s, but they identified and solved multiple problems with my transit custom, and had it ready for me the same day. Also, despite the (in my view) higher cost, Halfords provide an option to spread payments over a few months, which at the moment is a huge help. Very friendly professional team and will definitely use them again.

First time I've used a Halfords Autocentre for service and MOT work and I thought the experience was very good. They did just what they said they would, used good quality consumable items and were able to give me a little advice regarding a potential future maintenance item. I've had a couple of good visits (mot) before and saw the tyres I was looking for at a good price. The fitting took much longer than expected however it appeared that there was a problem with one of the wheels. Tracking also presented a problem (japanese grey import mpv) as the data for setup was not available. Anyway, they remained polite and professional even though I was obviously grumpy!!! They set the tracking to be parallel and refused to charge me as it wasn't 100% correct. Again, these guys remained extremely polite and professional throughout yes....I would definitely return. Thanks guys....Good job!

It is definitely not the cheapest place for an MOT but it definitely seems like one of the more genuine places to get one. I haven't had any spiel given to me about why my car would need hundreds of pounds of work done to it. They outline issues clearly and state why they need doing immediately or can hold off for a while. They are reasonably priced when it come to work getting done too. They seem clued up as well which is not something I would normally associate with the halfords crew in general, given that their store whizzes are definitely something... Generally I was pleasantly surprised at the service I recieved and will definitely be going back in the future for other work.

Excellent customer service. I had a full service and MOT. I have used Halfords for several years now to keep my 10 year old hard working Freelander up together. I have always found the booking system online easy, the charges are competitive. Dropping off my car is always seamless. Communication is excellent throughout the time my car is with them. Work completed is clearly explained and options listed. I needed new tyres a couple of years ago and was given very honest and completely transparent advice to buy them online and book in fitting to save money on the booking in store option which I really appreciated. I have absolutely no problem in highly recommending Halfords Auto Centre Newport Isle of Wight.

Took my car in as a rear indicator wasn't working. Called me to say that couldn't fix the issue as it's not a part they can get but did what that could a short term fix. They didn't charge me for any of it as they couldn't fix it. Would definitely recommend this place. Wil back next time when I need something fixed. Top service.

Really very good on the MOT. I will be using them for a service when the time comes as I was impressed. UPDATE - just had my Mot and full service. Excellent, plus they identified why I had an oil leak. Without mentioning any names, incredibly the honda dealership on newport road cowes had fitted an incorrect filter and of course called me a liar when I told them.

Bit annoyed to be honest I put the car in because the fluid in the coolant expansion tank keeps disappearing, engine everheats and engine clunk's, the result was they put it on there diagnostic machine, silenced the 4 codes and as they never came back on they said they can't fund a problem.well my cars a bit filthy and covered in cobwebs, the cobwebs on the bonnet wernt broke which tells me they didn't open it and actually look at it. It could just be a split in a hose, but a diagnostic machine wouldn't tell you that. I should be more annoyed as there's still clearly somthing wrong with my car but they do get 3 stars as they never charged me

Great current deal with the£10 MOT. Excellent prompt service with a knowledgeable and friendly mechanic. My Alfa passed too However as service parts and labour are the most expensive I've found and Halfords will not fit customer's own parts, I opted to buy my own from SES and use the independent garage next door for my service, saving nearly £100. Staff were polite when I dropped the car off and picked it up. I was kept informed on the results of the brake check and happy the repair could be done the same day. The only small issue was that staff were unaware of a 10% discount Halfords were running, luckily I had the email on my phone.

Have a 1 series BMW Diesel, doing a number of short trips in the car clogged up the DPF. I have the carly app and OBD scanner, I'm usually able to clear the fault and force a regeneration, however on this instance I wasn't able to, had over 39g soot in the DPF. This figure didn't seem to change when driving or attempting to regen, I don't know if the sensor was filthy. Booked the car in on the Monday (there was space the very first day I looked at booking it) dropped the car off at half eight and collected about half one. I believe they either sprayed the DPF directly or added an additive to the tank, and then forced a regeneration, something the local BMW dealership will charge £400 for. On picking the car up the soot content was down to 30g. A blast of the car for half an hour and I was able to manually regenerate the DPF again as normal using the app and soot down to 8g and working perfectly. I've only deducted a star as although the job was done, I was able to reduce the soot content even further, I had an expectation that it would be completely cleaned of soot, but I wouldn't have been able to have done that without their help. Was offered further treatment if necessary if the light came on again. Friendly staff, easy booking. Had services performed here in the past and always impressed with their price and efficiency .
