As a garage repair business ourselves, we have used ACE on a number of occasions and can honestly say that they have been professional, extremely helpful, communicate efficiently and turn work around efficiently and to a high quality. Took my wife’s car to them to have the gearbox replaced as a Skoda dealership told me the box was shot.
Ace Gearboxes called, said they weren’t convinced Skoda were right, diagnosed and fixed the problem same day, turns out it was just a rear wheel bearing.
So much for main dealer expertise Skoda.

5 star service from Ace gearboxes. Our gearbox went on the motorway on the way up north some weeks ago, AA took us to a local garage who replaced it. when we got it back it wasn't quite right. - As it was under warranty Ace gearboxes found a garage in my area shipped a replacement to them and then had my car collected and returned to me within 24 hours as i was moving house. Thank you Darren!! credit where it's due sir!!

I would just like to share my experience of the excellent work conducted by Ace Gearboxes after recently dealing with this company. I can honestly say it was a real pleasure to deal with such a professional business, especially after we had just discovered to our dismay that our new vehicle needed extensive work to correct a Gearbox fault.
I proceeded to call the Sales Number, to which my first contact was with an enthusiastic gentleman called Sean Knight. Sean listened to my whole story and explained that from the detailed description I gave him of the fault that they would first look in to saving the existing Gearbox before recommending a new one was fitted. He explained that his experienced engineers could possible replace parts such as the Seals and Bearings which could mean saving on the cost of a new Gearbox, which I found to be very encouraging, and instantly gave me a feeling of “trust” that I was not being oversold products and that this was a company considering the clients needs first.
Following the phone calls to various other companies, I decided that Ace Gearboxes had impressed me most, and emailed Sean to confirm that I had chosen them to carry out this work. However as the Dealer and Warranty Company were to share the cost, I asked if it would be possible to split the invoice between two parties for convenience. He said he would discuss this with the Office Manager, but could not see a problem.
My next point of contact with the business was with the Office Manager, Sally Ashby, who was very pleasant and professional, and arranged for my vehicle to be booked in. She confirmed the billing would be OK to be split between the Warranty Company and the Dealer, but explained clearly so there was no confusion once the work was completed, that both parties would need to settle the bill before the vehicle would be released. This was really good to be explained upfront to avoid any confusion when the work was completed and obviously when we would be collecting the vehicle.
After agreeing to deliver the vehicle the night before the work was to commence, I arrived at Ace Gearboxes to a warm welcome in Reception from Sally and Sean. Sean proceeded to go outside and inspect my vehicle to complete an Inspection Report, too which after a quick signature, I handed over the keys for the work to be completed.
Over the next 24 hours, Sally kept me updated by phone and email as to the progress of the vehicle, and confirmed that the Gearbox was repairable much to my relief. She proceeded to contact the Warranty Company and Dealer, and sent very detailed clear pictures of the failed components for authorisation.
Although proceedings with the Warranty Company were possibly not quite as straight forward as we had wished for, I was fully supported by Ace Gearboxes throughout, and when I took the decision to complete the work due to their delay in authorisation.
On the morning of the collection, Sally phoned me again to say the vehicle was now ready for collection and contacted both parties for payment to be arranged before I arrived. On arriving to collect my vehicle, I was welcomed by Sally and Sean, who told me that the payments had been made and that my vehicle was ready to collect. I was told that the Engineering Manager Darren would also like to meet me to explain in detail the work that had been completed.
What was most impressive to me was his passion for Customer Service and Satisfaction which I am sure at this point many workshops would have let you leave their premises without explaining what had been done. Darren however treated me like a valued customer, demonstrating how a new product should look against the ones removed from my Gearbox, and proceeded to show me how he stores of the OEM Parts in a very methodical way, which demonstrated not just his Engineering Expertise, but the personal pride he takes in keeping the stores area immaculate, and managing a very professional operation.
