My Audi Q5 suddenly died last Sunday and next day I booked it in with Automotive Engineering for the clutch replacement. Now I am happy to drive my car again, like new. I've been using Nigel's services for the past few years on various cars, and I was always pleased by his professionalism, honesty and fair prices.

Booked my Audi A3 in with these guys after a strange rattling started at the front of my car. Took my car in on the arranged date and they identified the issue within the day and fixed the problem same day for me. They went out of their way to fix the issue and charged me a fair price! Entrusted a very tidy Mk 4 Golf Anniversary to Nigel and James for a full service, cam belt etc and a few other jobs. Everything was carried out very professionally on what is a 19 year old car, including rectifying a few ‘less-experienced repairs’ from yester-year (eg a previously broken timing belt cover). Great expertise, good communications and a passion for your car even if it’s advancing in years.

Went to them based off of Google reviews to have a wiring harness repaired, which had worn away and corroded. The guys were friendly over the phone, efficient in getting me booked in and when I arrived they were friendly and welcoming. I left the car with them for an hour, and returned expecting to have to wait a little longer but the job was already done! Would recommend them to anyone, efficient, fast, honest, knowledgable and the attention to detail is great as you now can't tell any repairs were done in the first place. I had a complicated problem with my car which initially was thought to be the DPF, which was sorted pretty efficiently but didn't resolve the problem and required some investigation work. It was found to be the EGR Cooler that had gone and has now been repaired by Nigel, Richard and the team. Cars are frustrating, not having a great knowledge of car mechanics, it is nice that Nigel & Richard explained to me the issues, how they were caused and how to resolve it. Many garages are just keen to tell you there is a problem and want to give you a big bill! Paying a big bill is made that little bit better when you have understanding of why you are paying, not just because you have been told to. Automotive Engineering are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and keen to deliver a great service. These are now my garage of choice for any of my car issues. A good, trustworthy mechanic is hard to find! But Automotive Engineering is exactly that!

These guys are what a garage should be. Trustworthy and they really know their business! They are engineers first and foremost, diagnosing issues properly - not taking a punt at what might be wrong. I brought my Transporter here after pretty much being conned by a supposed Northampton diesel specialist - who had completely missed a cam and followers that were so worn there were holes in them. The guys here diagnosed as soon as the cam cover was lifted, and worked hard to make the repair affordable for me without compromising on quality. I won't be taking my vehicles anywhere else now. These guys I trust implicitly.

Top notch. I cannot praise Nigel and Richard enough. It’s a real pleasure to meet people so passionate and knowledgeable about their trade who are so willing to provide an excellent service. And on my doorstep too almost. Yesterday the work I had done on my 2016 AUDI A6 was to replace a split Adblue pipe and to investigate whether the dealer recommendation of new discs and pads all round was necessary. In fact only rear pads needed to be changed right now. Honest and fair advice is so welcome when it makes over £700 difference to the bill. Thank you.

Richard and Nigel are experts in their field. Our speedometer wasn’t working and we had taken it to many garages and had been told things like our dashboard needed replacing, our electrics were damaged but every time no one had actually sorted the problem. I took it to automotive engineering after reading online reviews for an unrelated problem (the window of the door had dropped) and they fixed this problem and the speedometer! They had managed to find the problem and resolve it immediately whilst other garages had wasted our time and money by keeping it in and charging us for it. They are great value for money when you consider the knowledge they have, especially on Volkswagens. So pleased we found them and won’t be taking our car anywhere else. They always make sure that you are getting the most of the money you spend with them.

Very honest. I was told by VW on two occasions that my brakes were too worn. As I didn't want to pay VWs ridiculous prices I booked it in here as it is local. They looked and told me that I still had 10k to 15k on my pads so no work was necessary (I only do 7k a year). It's important for me to find a mechanic I trust as I have no clue about cars.
