The team at Halfords Autocentre Reading recognized their mistake even though it was not on paper and they could easily refuse liability, they stayed behind their words and resolved the issue and repaired the fault at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend them for their attitude and the way they demonstrated responsibility and accountability for what they say.
G. J.Prompt and friendly service. Only concern is there was no waiting area and nowhere in the close vicinity to grab a coffee while waiting for tyre replacement. Problem exacerbated by COVID rules allowing only one customer in reception area at a time so a lot of time spent outside on a bitterly cold evening! However would consider using again for other services as a result of professionalism and good prices.

Prices are competitive and they have never tried to 'pull a fast one' and sell unnecessary extras, unlike a poor experience I had at one of the other large chains when it suddenly needed new brakes, discs, etc.

D. A.Very rare to find a garage repair service that you come away from feeling that you haven't been ripped off. The industry has that reputation of being deceitful and untrustworthy. This was not the case with Halfords autocentre Tilehurst, Reading. Firstly they managed to squeeze me in on a bank holiday (a garage that's open on a bank holiday with no extra cost) to change my brakes. Was kept in the loop throughout, and was given the freedom to choose any additional other items rather then feeling tricked into having them. Extremely charming, and welcoming front line employee sitting on reception on Good Friday. Can't remember the gentleman's name but definitely a great first impression and a great asset to this garage. Looking at the service cost they are substantially cheaper than main dealership, who bolt on so many extras and have no guarantee the service has actually happened or to the level they charge you for, so will use them going forward.
I'm hoping I have found a garage I feel I can build trust in to deal with my vehicles and so far so good. Give them a try and hopefully you get the same impression I did.

J.Even after being booked by blackcircles.com my appointment was showing on a Sunday instead of the booked Saturday and when I said will call Blackcircles and complain suddenly they changed and said oh now it is today but we are full and cannot fit you in till 6pm. Reluctantly accepted. The work was done in 45mins but had to go twice and only took the job when I said will call and complain. Not visiting again.

The only hitch by booking the day of appointment online, I was not given a specific time,or AM or PM. I was just asked to turn up before 11.30am, and so arrived at 11.00am, and according to the reception my car was not booked in for the MOT and then service until 4pm. Therefore I could have actually arrived some time after 3pm, and not wasted the day with also not getting my car back until after 6pm.

a. b.Booked a service and MOT for Mercedes E350D , all easy to book on line and got a discount on MOT so full service and mot £239 approximately quarter of the cost of Mercedes service . The car is running very well after service and they fixed an oil leak and replaced lighter fuse for no additional cost. Would recommend to give them a go as they exceeded my expectations.

I arrived at the centre 15 minutes early, but that wasn't a problem, as it could have been due to parking space availability. I was greeted straight away in a very friendly manner and was told it would be ready in an hour. It was ready on time and I left very happy...my car had passed!

S. L.Fantastic service in diagnosing fault near to closing time on a Sunday afternoon even though the staff were busy with other jobs. Understandably a repair could not be effected on the spot due to the fact an uncommon part had to be ordered but the staff were very helpful in providing advice and necessary information. Star only deducted due to poor appearance of the building (hardly their fault) although based on this experience it would be fair to say one shouldn't be put off by this.

They are honest, reasonably priced, friendly and quick.
Twice my car has failed due to bulbs being out and on both occasions they fixed it for free.
I feel I can completely trust them and I can't think of a more important compliment than that when it comes to car maintenance,

P. C.Hit and miss. I used them exclusively for my last car. Had a service every year and an MOT. I had recommendations for work they say needed to be done which wasn’t picked up on the next service. However, I also had a service where all was good and passed the MOT with flying colours. Like most multiples, it depends who serves you. But that lack of consistency is a concern.
B. S.Delighted to have found a garage I can trust to do my MOT 3 years in a row. If it wasn't for the fact I need the manufacturer to do a hybrid battery health check for the warranty I'd also get it serviced there too.
N. V.Quick, efficient and able to explain what is needed next. I did just the MOT and it took about 50 mins in total. They don't try to up-sell anything which is appreciated. Location is also good, since it is close to Morrisons and the Retail park so you can combine it with some errands if need be. Small place to wait while MOT is being carried out (a few chairs in a small reception area) but it is possible to wait.
S. P.I would give them 6 starts if I could... The dashboard coolant light in my VW Polo went off and took it to a well known independent garage for an engine diagnostic. After pluging it in to the ECU, they were not able to find the issue or offer me a solution... So I decided to take it to Halfords and their guys determined the issue IN MINUTES and fixed it within an hour without even having to plug the diagnostic computer.
Absolutely brilliant service and I will definitely come back to them for any engine issues.

Imagine the delight when they were able to fit the job in, and complete within 30 mins of arrival.
