Hands down the best garage in Southampton without a shadow of a doubt. We take all our cars/vans here for everything they need for the past 3-4 years. The guys are so so down to earth, genuine and honest, the prices are always fair and I can’t respect these guys enough. They are so hard working, forward thinking and always have time for you no matter how busy it gets (they are always busy which is great) - they are a huge credit to the auto industry! I’ll never look anywhere else.

I was in Southampton with my son, who was about to drive to Bristol when the engine warning light on his VW Golf came on. We took the car to the VW main dealer in Shirley but they said they were too busy to help. Having googled other local garages we went round to Shirley Garage Services and despite being really busy themselves the boss stopped what he was doing and immediately came outside to have a look and see if he could help. 10 minutes later the problem was solved and we were on our way again. If you are a student in Southampton take your car to this garage! Had multiple great experiences from the team here, great pricing and honest staff. Outstanding service. Honest and friendly service with integrity. Just by calling to speak about your issue will reassure you that you're in good hands, so give them a go. I narrowly avoided/escaped a £195 bill from a main VW dealer only to be charged just over £75 by these guys to replace a broken windscreen wiper arm. LESS than they quoted over the phone the day before because it took them just a few mins to fit the part and said they wouldn't charge me for fitting. They'd sourced the part for us (next day!) after we found them via Google. All my future car needs will go their way and I'll recommend them to all my friends and family.

This is the best auto garage I have ever been to. Fantastic and generous customer service. I put my car in for a full service, MOT, and investigation of a change in engine noise. The team inspected my vehicle and found there were a lot of things that needed repair or replacement and gave me advice about the condition of certain parts. Ian contacted me and offered to email me a quote for the work so I could think about it, and I felt zero pressure to proceed if I didn't want to. When I decided not to proceed with the work and asked how much the inspection and advice would cost, Ian told me it would be free of charge as they hadn't actually proceeded with any changes to the car. The team here put time into assessing my vehicle and kindly asked for nothing in return at their own cost and to my great benefit. This is how you win loyalty - I won't be visiting any other garage from here on. Thank you Ian and all the team.

They fit car in for MOT same day, despite me calling only a few days before it expired because I didn't action the reminder email at the time. I made them aware that I was sure it would fail and was in no rush to receive car back. But they called the next morning and said repairs were done, MOT now passed and ready to collect. My car broke down so I took my car to this garage. I have only used the garage a couple of times previously. Unfortunately my car was beyond repair. Terry and the team went above and beyond by getting me the most money they could for my car. My partner was away so I was a female trying to sort this out alone, (I have no idea with cars). I have been using Shirley garage services for quite a few years now and have always been pleased with their honesty. Its hard to find a garage that doesn't go out of their way to find faults that dont really exist just to extort money out of you. Every time i have gone i have had a friendly quality professional service. This week i had a MOT on my newly purchased car, which i had failed. I managed to book in 2 days later and get a repair done as well as a new clip on my other CV boot. I was able to drop my car the day before with no hassle which is so helpful as i start work long before they open and didnt have to book time off to drop my car in. The garage is always busy and can take a bit of time to get booked in but the guys are always friendly and go out of their way to get the work done as fast as possible. I always recommend them to anyone who is after work on their cars due to their good value and quality of work. I remember when I dropped my car off in the past, someone had come in to collect a car with a headlight wiring issue and they discovered that the cables had beed mixed up and didnt charge the person anything for their time. All I can say is that its a really quality garage.

I’ve been to many car garages over the years for various different things and it really is extremely difficult to find a decent and honest car mechanics, however I honestly think I’ve found one now, just by reading the reviews online I thought I’d give it a go, I’m glad I did as they couldn’t of been more helpful, they kept me updated throughout any repairs, they were completely honest and mentioned little bits of work that will need to be done but it wouldn’t fail the MOT and even though you could see they were really busy the repairs was done on time. Not that I really want to see a garage anytime soon but if I need to I will definitely feel more relaxed about it.

I had an issue with my exhaust which I was told by another garage could only be fixed by the main dealer. Gave these guy's a call and they were more than happy to help. Got my car in same day (Audi couldn't even look at it for two weeks) and diagnosed it same day. Repair was finished in less than 24 hours even though they had to order the part from the main dealer which was just great service. All in all I couldn't fault the service given one little bit, everything was explained fully from start to finish and they even managed to squeeze an MOT in for me before collecting! Garages are one of those places I always feel a little lost in and when you find a good one you make sure you stick with them..... I will certainly be doing that.

I booked my car into Shirley Garage Services for an MOT after reading the online reviews. I gave them 5 stars based on the initial phone call, the update when it failed (only one thing). I was given a full picture of the work required, how much the work would cost including the test and VAT. Plus the two advisories before the next test. I wasn't in a hurry so I left my car for 48 hours as they were extremely busy and now I know why! Received a phone the call to say my car was ready for collection and the closing time of the garage. Just returned for my third visit... Reliable, honest, friendly and very very reasonably priced. If and when I relocate, I'd travel a considerable distance to see the guys because places as good as this are few and far between. Write up from my first visit... My car recently failed the MOT and I was left somewhat stunned and a tad panic stricken. The original garage couldn't do the repair work needed (welding), or give me a rough idea of expected cost, so I was in somewhat of a limbo. I'm relatively new to the area and, fortunately, never needed to use a garage so I didn't know where to turn to. I've heard horror stories about 'dodgy' garages either overpricing, convincing you to pay for unnecessary work or botching it completely. Even though Shirley Garage has a range of incredibly positive reviews both recent and over the last few years I was still sceptical so I visited 3 garages in the local area for quotes. Selecting Shirley Garage was a 'no brainer' and not simply based on price (though they did offer the best quote). They made me feel at ease, explaining what needed repairing, why and how that related to the MOT testing. Incredibly efficient and professional offering a full range of services from MOT to welding. They over-delivered and to be honest I'm actually feeling guilty that they costed the least but appear to have delivered the most. As an added bonus... they are a great team, friendly and chatty but NOT in a hard sell, forced marketing kind of way (which I detest). I'd definitely recommend and in future I'll be visiting them for all my car requirements including the MOT.

Very professional. Very straightforward. My Peugeot 307 1.6L hatchback always went to them. Was an old car. They were prompt in accepting the car whenever I took it despite a busy schedule. Only complaint would be they wouldn't call when they said they would. So had to follow up everytime. But great service and always good advice for my car. They even accepted parts I bought online and fixed those for me just charging me for the labour. Often did minor checks for no charge. Highly recommended.

Ian at Shirley Garage Services, a family run business in Southampton, came to our rescue when we broke down 62 miles from Southampton on the A34. We had only travelled down for the weekend on a late Friday afternoon to see my brother in Southampton and were to return to Lincoln on Monday. I am so grateful that our insurance company, One Call Insurance, recommended Ian's garage. The insurance company sent a tow truck out within 60-80 minutes that took us down to the garage, left the car there and then dropped us at our hotel. The next morning we called Ian to let him know that he may find a red Avila left at his garage and could he help look at the car and help us out given our situation. Ian was quick to answer the phone call, very polite, helpful and gave us realistic feedback of his existing committments and expected repair time while saying he would do his best to help. We went down to the garage and Ian have us honest and detailed feedback, explaining logically what he think had happen and what our options were and what his recommendation was (surprisingly and refreshingly he proposed options to suit our circumstances which demonstrated custimer-iriented and out of the box thinking to support what was in our best interests rather than his own - a rare and unique quality in a business owner). Our decision was we would scrap our car but how would be get rid of.it by Monday and where would we keep it as the engine was deas. Ian even went out of his to ask around his garage if anyone was intert and then gave us a few suggestions offering to help us out in our time of need and deciding not to charge us his normal £15 per day charge to house the car at a busy garage. He even helped us out with the paperwork and with dealing with the scrap company when on Monday we had a solution to get the car picked up Thursday as that wa dyhe only available time. He went out of his way and extended support and helped us out when he could have just charged us and also made it an issue that he didn't need to resolve given he was busy with ongoing customers and work. His attitude, honesty, work ethic, approach and customer service as well as the customer experience he gave us will forever bring us back to him and recommend him highly for any of your garage and car related needs. He is a true gentleman, he treated us equitably, fairly and respectfully. He helped us when we had limited options without trying to make a quick buck out of us or do what benefitted him most. Had a panicy moment last Saturday when I realised my MOT had run out and a quick google search led me to Shirley Garage Services where Dave was about to lock up as they close on Saturday afternoons like most garages. However he offered to stay behind especially to MOT my car as I was only a few minutes away from them. A quick trip and an hour later my car had been sorted...OK it had failed on 2 minor things which they quickly remedied on the Monday by squeezing it in between their other jobs. My partner and I are reasonably new to the area so were looking for a new trusted garage to look after our cars. The problem they diagnosed was what I had already suspected was wrong, so I had an idea of the part that would probably need replacing. I am always a bit concerned when getting something done to the car but these guys were honest from the start and spoke in an understandable language (for someone who isn't an expert). I'd been told by another garage who quoted on the work for my brakes being done all round, that the suspension bushes also needed doing. These chaps said to hold off on the suspension until they have the car in to check this first and in actual fact they are slightly worn, quite normal and completely fine for the time being. Saved me over £150 on the suspension bushes alone and at £400 on the pads and disc all round on a Z4, it was around £200 cheaper than the other garages I enquired with - with similar decent mid-range parts used. A lot better than forking out well into the £700's! Great customer service, good advice on the general health of the vehicle and advising on the other things I was querying (without trying to sell anything), prompt service with car ready to collect as advised and generally a very positive experience. Will be going back there for MOT's and anything else that come up.. Fair play to them

Last year I thought my luck had finally run out and that my beloved but ancient Nissan Micra was beyond salvage. These guys literally rescued me, miraculously accommodating a last minute request and breathing life back into my Micra with their welding expertise.
