When your motorcycle is ill you could take it to a main dealer which is like a hospital, but you could also take it to your local GP. My motorcycle local GP is Vince. He was a mechanic for a Triumph dealer, so it's like a consultant at a hospital has become my local GP. He has been a racer in the UK and Ireland and helped fellow racers to set up their bikes. He competes at trails as well. He once told me why he doesn't use torque wrenches. That's because his hands remember what torque you can add with what spanner. That confirmed my trust on him as clearly he is not an ordinarily mechanic. When I did a major modification on my VFR he renewed all hoses and completely rewired electric cables so that I can sit up with high handlebars. I've been riding it for some years and went to France, Austria, Italy, and round trip of Ireland, but not a thing went wrong. What is even better is he doesn't charge eye watering dealer rate. Without him I cannot own two motorcycles. He has all BMW tools, so I could go for a BMW if I want. I don't think it's easy to find another Vince. To me he is a foundation of my motorcycle life.
