Reviews of GAIL's Bakery Brighton
A. “. S.
Incredible bakery with fantastic coffee. Lots of choices of fresh pastries, and you can’t go wrong with any coffee you get. Each time I’ve been here, I’ve had a great experience. The staff provide a very welcoming and clean environment. I am particularly pleased with Timi and Maxim, who both provided excellent and friendly service. This is my go-to cafe when I’m in Brighton. I highly recommend!

Good coffee, ordered the almond chocolate croissant for eat-in but i think the shop did not do reheat for the baked goods. Wish they reheat the croissant, it would taste so much better after reheating
K. S.
The best food and the best people!
Very tasty variation of both sweet and savoury in addition to great coffee! I had some issue with my card payment so it took some time and while paying they put some extra pastry. I was not expecting it at all and honestly that was one of the nicest things happening to me in Brighton. Love the place and love the people 💕

Lovely new location, great place to meet someone and enjoy one of their artisan bakes. The cinnamon rolls are the very best! Baked eggs definitely overpriced so wouldn't have again. But for a savoury breakfast would recommend the ham and cheese croissant.

I keep coming back because its such a cute café! The staff is so friendly and it has such a calm atmosphere, could definitely study here. They have amazing freshly baked pastries and great coffee:)
C. S. P.
The coffee is great, as well as the bakery (esp the croissant). The staffs are very nice, with good ambience.

OMG. First proper day out to the sea side since being discharged from hospital after being in for 10 months with Covid. We came to this bakers on the off chance as we just parked up round the corner. My tastebuds have not been right but we ordered cinnamon buns. My goodness I could definitely taste this product that was baked at the shop. Not only was it huge, it was so gorgeous. It’s sent my tastebuds jumping. I have not tasted proper food for such a long time and this was absolutely exquisite. I know this is sad but I nearly cried. And I wanted more!!!
It makes me want to make my husband drive all the way from Sidcup to Brighton just so I can get a stash. I absolutely loved them and could not get enough. Thank you guys for also accommodating me in my wheelchair and I enjoyed the visit and I will definitely look you guys up again when we come to visit my favourite place 😋 How I did not find you before I do not know but I will never forget GAILS BAKERY.

Nice tea & pastries. Breakfast was out of my pay grade. Plenty of other places to try if you are on a budget. The friends we were with thought it was good value.

I would love to leave more than 5 stars!! Me and my parter have come to Brighton for the weekend and came here on the Sunday and it was beyond excellent the staff af super friendly and are happy doing what they do the pastries are absolutely sublime my personal favourite is the cinnamon buns they are perfect. We also feel the pricing its amazing considering the size of the pastries they are huge all hand made and and you can see them makeing them all. Just such a beautiful place definitely worth a visit!!

Start the day right. Perfect small Bakery in the center of Brighton. Definitely worth a visit, highly recommend if you love a cappuccino and some lovely cooked food.
H.
The food and pastries are good but its RIDICULOUS that they charge an extra 60p on top of already pricey items just to sit in?! And its not like there is table service... would go a lot more if this wasn't the case
C. L.
Nice stuff and nice breakfast
f. h.

I don't think I've ever written a review for a coffee before but I'm about to. I just got a cappuccino with an extra shot from here to takeaway and it was the best coffee I've had in a really long time. Great service too. Recommend.
R. D.
Perhaps I came on the wrong day as the other reviews seem to love the staff - but when I visited a couple of weeks ago, the staff were unfriendly, unwelcoming and didn't seem to want to help at all. Took a ridiculous amount of time for a black Americano. No cutlery served or offered with our baked goods.
Was willing to give the benefit of the doubt about the coffee (maybe they were cleaning, training or preparing beans? Not sure!) but it was such a long amount of time with no apology or explanation, I was honestly baffled.
A. C.
Lovely! I had cinnamon bun as a takeaway and it was great, coming back soon!:)
J. L.
Gail's is Gails decent coffee and delicious sandwiches, cakes and snacks. Friendly staff for the most!
y. f.
Nice coffee and nice pastries. I checked other reviews before writing this just to make sure I was not unfair: the staff is not very welcoming and kind of make you just want to go somewhere else.
E. K.
A nice looking and clean place with lots of options which will satisfy your hunger. Since this place is bakery, my expectation about the coffee was not that great. But their coffee is one of the best in Brighton. They have the best equipment and a solid recipe for their espresso. I highly recommend this place.
W.
Very strange place, coffee was average and cakes on offer were limited. There is certainly better places for coffee in Brighton.
L. M.
Simply fantastic. Huge selection of pastries and options. You merely have to peek through the window and you mouth will salvate. Can be busy at times but that's because it popular. My favourite was the porridge and almond butter, which we begged for a jar of to take home. Maybe next time Gail!
c.
this is my favorite. thank you delicious
S. B.
Just delicious bakes and lovely staff. The pecan salted toffee cup cakes are to die for. I would give it five stars if it were more affordable for me, as it can only be an occasional treat. However that said, you will not be disappointed by the quality there.
D. M.
The quiche here is excellent, as is everything else. Good coffee, nice pastries and some interesting savory stuff.
Staff are helpful and polite and offer good service.
All in all mm much better than your average cafe/bakery.

I go here on my way to work for a coffee and a pastry. The pastries are fantastic and usually warm at that time in the morning. The coffee is good and the staff are wonderfully welcoming!
H. P.
Lovely authentic feel with beautiful tasting pasteries and drinks. I ordered the blueberry pancake which was perfectly cooked and a latte and I was made up. Cosy and quaint overall.
F.
The place itself is great and there appeared to be a lot of choice on offer. I had a hot chocolate, well warm, and it was 'not very chocolatey'. I could have complained but I just wanted to rest out of the rain for a bit...so a drank up and left.
H. F.
So glad to see a Gail's in Brighton! Really cracking coffee and fantastic baked goods. The perfect place to go after a swim. High chairs available, but it's often very busy and there's not much room for a buggy, let alone a couple of buggies on a Saturday.
A. P.
Very good coffee/bakery place with friendly staff and very good products in the heart of the of the Brighton laines.
T. O.
Great to have a Gail's in Brighton. The food is amazing and the vibe comfortable and chilled. The staff maybe need to drop the formality and up the friendliness. One bearded, tatted, 30-something bro calling another one 'sir' is inherently ridiculous and makes me feel very uncomfortable. This is 2019 guys. Just cos you're working here at the moment and I dropped in for a coffee doesn't mean there is some kind of bizarre imposed social hierarchy! We're both human beings. #fistbump 😊
E. S.
I love love love this place yes some may say a bit pricey but for the service and the food you will not care!! There cinnamon buns are to die for not forgetting there selection of drinks and scrambled eggs also try there home made brown sauce wish they bottled and sold it
J.
Top notch coffee and incredible sausage rolls. Bit pricey but... it is in the middle of Brighton lanes so probably about right. And the staff are superb.
M.
Surly staff and dry, bready croissants. Overpriced and unwelcoming.
A. K.
A lovely place for breakfast 🥐😊
P. A.
Lovely food and coffee. Great service and a wide range of food and drink available. Absolutely lovely decor. A bit expensive for every day eating but a nice treat.
D. P.
Really lovely staff and the pastries and coffee were delicious! Thanks so much!
S.
Strategically I should rate them lower so I don't have to queue so long but Gail's definitely deserves all of the stars. The olive bread and tahini chocolate bites are absolutely worth queuing for!
J. G.
My favourite place to get a pastry! Lovely friendly staff too!
O. M.
Really good coffee and tasty snacks. It can be busy at times but always worth visiting. Wish it was not closing that early.
J. P.
Lovely ham cheese croissant this morning (Sunday), mini brioche avocado egg Tom roll, shame take away took so long to produce the coffee (it needed someone else, to do this whilst the girl serving me first moved to next customer, I jyst stood about for a minute or two not sure what was happening.. A chap appeared, picked a ticket... But who took a while to get there) ...
s. f.
Love Gail's I have a good ☕ here nearly every day and would recommend their cheese scones, all the staff are nice and friendly.
S. J.
A thoroughly pleasant new coffee bar/eaterie with a good atmosphere and a light interior - owing to the amount of glass surrounding the place.
E. R.
Impossibly delicious fare!!
Very unfriendly staff, cold and rude.
J. B.
