Reviews of Raven's Bakery
N. D.
My son discovered this Bakers' a few days ago whilst walking around fiveways from Preston park.
Best for miles!
I now can't buy anywhere else - well worth the walk up.
No pretentiousness. Paper bags, simple presentation, excellent bread, cakes and pastries (plus the fresh eggs are lovely).
Sometimes the loaf I'd had in mind hasn't been ready but the alternatives have been of the same standard.
No superfluous packaging - plain paper bags.
This all makes me so happy!

This place is just magical. Ravens is a delight to have after work.
The cheap prices seems impossible to beat, the quality is so good for around £1.
The staff is average and do their job as intended, nothing else. Even though once i came in and there was a worker facetiming. Nontheless, she did her job as intended. A good experience as it is.
Recommended for everyone.

Raven's bakery is always busy and popular for a reason (or 2). The bread, cakes and buns etc that they sell are always fresh and yummy. The prices are always super reasonable 😃
Win win - enjoy
B.
I love this place! It’s an old fashioned bakery with good quality bread that’s well priced. Their Easter hot cross buns are truly the best in Brighton. Always a line outside but worth the wait.
V. D.
Amazing bakery with the best hot cross buns at Easter. Worth queuing an hour for.
S. M.

Well known bakery for all the good reasons. Love the bread!
T. P.
Best bakery food in town fresh and tasty.

Great bakery. I own the Indian down the road (Agra Tandoori) and this place has been around for a long time - as long as I can remember. We’ve been in the area for nearly 40 years and I think this bakery was there before us. Regardless, always been great, just wanted to thank you for your lovely food!
D. F.
Traditional bakery fayre, done just right, at keen prices! What's not to love?
A. R.
Hot Cross Buns yummy and bread and other bakery stuff made on premises... is the best in Brighton!
G. W.
One of the best bakeries going, fantastic selection all at reasonable prices. Biggest favourite by a mile is the hot X buns, they're superb.
Just remember to shop reasonably early as this place has a great turnover, both local and not so local clientele.
Definitely worth a visit, you won't regret it.
J. D.
I want to love this bakery but my cheese twist was so cold and stale it must have been baked yesterday, same goes for the sausage roll 😔. I arrived at opening time so I could enjoy everything fresh. The bagguuete and bap I also got were warm and freshly baked. If you see this let me know what time fresh savoury come out and I'll be there. Didn't have the white bread out yet, will be back for that. New to fiveways.

Great bread and cakes. We come from Lewes to pick up our sunflower seed loaves regularly! The doughnuts are amazing and I love the fruit crumble cakes and the spinach and ricotta pastries.
Lo be Ely friendly service too. Proper hot cross buns at Easter too!!!
E. C.
OMG, what a find! Not a sourdough starter in sight and packed with iced buns, chelsea buns, Jam doughnuts, white split tin loaves, granary loaves: I'm in heaven! It took all my self control not to have everything, but I went for a jam doughnut which looked perfect and was, in fact perfect: crispy, sugary, just the right amount of jam. We also bought a granary loaf and I haven't tasted bread like it for years, again it was perfect: crispy crust, soft middle, full of flavour it's just the right texture and perfect with butter and marmite.
A. C.
Famous local bakery with friendly staff and freshly made selection of breads cakes sandwiches rolls pies sausage rolls tray bakes hot and cold drinks. Loyal customers and shelves don't stay full for long. Too many favourites to mention. Give them a try you won't regret it.
M. E.
Ravens consistently makes some of the best bread I've ever had. Go early and it's still warm. Eat it within a few days as it doesn't have preservatives in (not that it lasts that long). They do great chocolate squares too! But you have to get in early before they have all gone!
S. W. (.
Cracking traditional bakers, no frills tasty bread and cakes at non-artisan prices with friendly service.
A well baked, traditional split-tin @£1.50 vs 7-day sour dough, mixed seed, heavily bearded, hand massaged loaf @ £5.00 - no contest and no need to roll your trousers up, lace your work boots and don a flat cap.
J.
Amazing cakes at good prices! What more do you want! :)
I. S.
Love Raven's. Their baked goods are better then other bakers and taste so good. The veggie sausage rolls are really good, and I'm not even a vegetarian let alone a vegen.
R. L.
The lemon bakewell tart is amazing!
M. J.
Still the best bakers in Brighton. Great bread, wonderful pastries and the best hot cross buns I’ve tasted, the queues on Good Friday are proof that they are good. Ravens have been there for ever, so they must be doing something right. They don’t do everything, but what they do they do very well
M. K.
Highlights: jam donuts, cheese twists, the multiseed loaf and the little white rolls.
J. G.
Amazing food and lovely service I have been going here since I was 6 years old I am now 24 so enough said in my mind 😀 😊
R. -. B.
Friendly bakery, however have a tendency to mix different products in one bag (and have no nut free guarantee) so be aware if you have a child suffering from a nut allergy
A. S.
Very popular bakery within the Fiveways Community. Great bread, good selection of savoury items and nice sweet treats all priced reasonably.
V. A.
This bakery has been here for YEARS! They do some really love apple cake that is so moist and full of fruit. The bread is baked on premises and on Saturdays the queue will go out the door. Love this place.
T. T.
The best bread at Fiveways, wonderful sausage rolls, and something new to tempt you every time you visit, and all for a reasonable price. The heart of Fiveways for decades!
I recommend a large white Danish, the knotted poppyseed rolls, and sausage rolls. Hot cross buns at Easter!
m. h.
The taste of the rolls .... 😋🥰 the crispy jam doughnuts are lovely ... but the woman I don’t know if it’s just the way she is but she doesn’t make you feel welcome I think ! 🤷♂️✌️
S. W.
probably been here ~200 times, never been disappointed
M. F.
Old school bakery, cakes and pasties the way they used to be. Sometimes queues for the hot cross buns at Easter time.
Find this great place on the corner of Sandgate Road and Ditchling Road
R. G.
Whilst I am not a Raven's regular, preferring to support our own, local, bakery, this is certainly the best bakers in Brighton, probably Sussex.
C. P.
Really great food and cake tray bakes. Get there early though as it does seem to sell out of the good stuff quite quickly.
M. J.
Everything I’ve tried from this bakery is loud from the pastries to cakes, but it’s always sad to miss out on the Balti pies
J. C.
Good selection, didn't do any gluten free bakes.
M. C.
Everything about this local bakery is good, there's always a queue when I go (mid morning to lunchtime). Support your local shops.

(Translated) This is the place where I always buy bread. Chinese people are run, so it suits Japanese people. Although it is not as good as Japan, it is useful because it sells white and soft bread.
The price is also very cheap. You can come from the city by bus number 26 or 46, so I think it's worth visiting at least once.
However, students from nearby high schools often come to buy, so it may be sold out in the afternoon.
