J.Visited the Penarth site (not on Google Maps). The beans and poached eggs on sourdough was good value (£8) and very tasty. Wide selection of baked goods and high quality coffee. Excellent service from Ben.

Nestled along the popular Pontcanna Street in the leafy and relaxed Cardiff suburb of the same name, Ground produces hot plates, baked goods and coffee you dream of until your next visit. London, Paris, New York, I’d take Ground every time such is the quality on offer. Led by manager Amy, the talented and on-the-ball team couldn’t do more. Good luck getting a table though such is it’s draw! First come, first served…

J. N.I love Ground and go every day but the Pontcanna cafe is better. The granola is more interesting and uses lovely seasonal fruit. Penarth proves a tiny amount of yoghurt and other than maybe a couple of apple slices doesn’t use other fruit. Also the butter for toast is always rancid. It’s been cold, warmed up in the kitchen the cooled snd warmed up again. Why isn’t it kept permanently kept in the fridge? Several times it’s been completely liquid inside the packet. Gross.

Staff are friendly, coffee is very good. Pastries really are excellent here and definitely have a nod to traditional home baking vibes.
A nice spot to have elevenses with a friend. Parking around the area can be a little haphazard and is definitely Pontcanna priced, so you can have a pastry or a coffee for a fiver, but not both.
