Reviews of L'Angelou

One of the best French bakeries I have been to and I have visited Paris so that says a lot. The puff pastry dough was incredibly flaky and delicious and the buns were soft and fluffy with warm balanced flavors. The scone was fantastic both in texture and in taste. Everything was well worth it, and I wish I had time to go again!

I have past L'Angelou many times but never when it's open , today was my lucky day !
I bought 2 Black Forrest desserts and a seeded sour dough, as an after thought I also bought 1 Croissant to have when I got home for Brunch .
This was a great decision as it's the BEST croisant I've ever had , I'm excited for dinner later to try the bread and dessert .
A wee photo of my Brunch , I warmed the Croissant in my Air Fryer ... Delicious .

I can only describe them with one word "masters" Masters of bread. There is an old saying "If there is bread on the table there is everything" I can not describe to you what the thrill is to pass the bakery early in the morning. It smells so nice that you can't help but stop. the last time I took bagels that had come out on foot. Amazingly crunchy and fragrant. Well done to the masters, you continue in the same spirit and I guarantee you that the clientele will only go in one direction and it is up.

Fantastic wee bakery. Very friendly service and amazing pastries. Tried everything from their bread to cakes. They are all top quality, you can taste the care that goes into their baking. If you are around pop by, and pop by even if you are at the other side of the town. Definitely worth it.

There is always and queue here for good reason. Everything I’ve had from here so far has been exceptionally good, the baguette in particular is the best I have ever tasted. A must try.

I'm French and I can attest that L'Angelou is the real deal when it comes to boulangerie. Their baguette and pain au chocolat/croissants are so delicious that I come back for a refill pretty much everyday. I'm so glad that opened here!

The best croissant I have ever had! Lemon meringue tart was 5* too.

A gem of a find by chance today! Fabulous coffee, savoury bread & pain au chocolat! Still to try the quiche!

The walnut, pear and blue cheese baguette is AMAZING!!!
To be honest... everything is superb and the guys running the bakery are friendly and down to earth.
Lovely to have such a place in the neighborhood!

Great baguettes, the almond and chocolate croissant was a blinder. After I had bought it, I thought the bottom had been burnt and would tasty funny. It did not. Absolutely delicious it was.
The baguette was also excellent. There are quite a few breadmakers in Edinburgh, all claiming to sell baguettes. They have been mostly dry and tastless. L'Angelou's really does sell a tasty French baguette. Crispy on the outside, soft and doughy inside, the way they should be.

Absolutely brilliant bakery, you won't find better baguette, sourdough bread or viennoiseries elsewhere, including in the best boulangeries-pâtisseries in France! An unbelievable gem in Edinburgh.

Early morning walk to try them out. Really impressed. Baguette's still warm. The almond croissants are amazing. Eat them while walking back, couldn't resist.

Superb Bread and Pastries, very friendly team. The bread is a similar to what you get in France - Delicious. Get there early as the baguettes usually sell out quickly.
Pay L'Angelou a visit - you wont be disappointed.

A fantastic wee bakery which is worth a detour if you're not in the neighborhood. We bought pains au chocolat and a baguette and polished the lot off within minutes - they were as good as any I've had outside France. We'll be back!

(Translated) Great French bread and patisserie. Just opened a few month ago. Limited selection, but quality and fresh. Opening time can be restrictive (Closed in the afternoon). Makes it worth to get up early on a Sunday to get fresh bread. They also do Afternoon Tea.
Very good Boulangerie Patisserie. Opened a few months ago. Limited selection but very good quality. Binding hours (Closed in the afternoon). Worth getting up early on Sunday for fresh bread.
