Authentic French bread, pastries and cakes. In this specific location little space to sit and relax, but you can grab your coffee and pastry and walk across the street to enjoy them strolling along the Bruntsfield Links. Amazing pain aux raisin, pretty meringue. I did not try the French Gallette des Rois, but they were so pretty…

Wonderful place. The chef waited for 2 hours more than closing time just for me to collect this beautiful cake for celebration. It was the best one I had so far!! Thank you so much. I'm definitely coming back for moreee.

It looks AMAZING from the outsiders and it is beautiful inside. However my visits have been a bit disappointing.
Staff are nice however there is a lack of a positive and welcoming energy -which is fine, but when I complained my latte tasted weak, I got the equivalent of a shrug. In cafés 5 star worthy, they would have apologised and made it again.
The café is ok to visit still, it just has much room for improvement.
It's a shame because it looks great from the outside!

Can’t recommend La Barantine enough, so much so we now have a menu in the salon for take-out lunch/ pastries to be brought in for our clients having a long service.
The BEST bread, sandwiches and pastries in Edinburgh!! ⭐️

I love this place! They sell very high quality freshly baked bread, and lots of other good stuff like pastries, quiches, and coffees, all at decent prices.

There’s no space to sit in here, but you can take away everything that is available at the other La Barantine outlets in the city. The breakfast pastries are good. I’ve tried the Lorraine and the Vegetable quiches, they were both okay but had an overriding taste of goat cheese that wasn’t particularly pleasant. The cakes look better than they taste, but are still nice.

Open early.. Perfect little piece of France right on the Door Step! My early Dog Walk made perfect by a pop in for a Flat White and fresh bread or Croissants. ✨ Très très bien! ✨

It was great to find La Barantine open at 7:30 this morning, and the bakers speaking French to each other. I bought fresh croissants. It was like having a 5 minute holiday in France!

Real bread at last! What I tried today was as good as I remember from my childhood. The best bagette I have had in Edinburgh.I look forward to trying all the other delicious looking loaves and croissants they had on display. So grateful to have found this place!

We treated ourselves to some lovely baked goods from here for our lunch - bread, quiche, pan au chocolat etc All of it was fresh and delicious. We will be back. Thank You!
