Reviews of The Wee Boulangerie
A very small but lovely bakery that does great coffee. Stopped in on our way to town and the staff were very friendly and the smell of fresh bread was very enticing.
Best bread in Edinburgh.
Lots of different breads, made on the premises
Nice cup of tea and a lovely assistant.
Best almond croissant in Edinburgh.
Great French bread and pastries.
Great bread every day.
V good pastries. V friendly service.
Great coffee and the nicest attention!!
Very wee! Small selection of choice! Nothing special!
Best bread in Edinburgh!
Every time I have bought anything from this store it has made my day measurably better.
Heather rye loaf, sourdough baguettes, croissants. Delicious.
Best sour dough in town
Fantastic food and service
Best bakery ever!
Best bakery in Edinburgh
Awesome!
The best bakery in town
Love the fougasse here
I like carrot cake
Fantastic bread!
It was just delicious.
Tremendous wee bakery. Went in for fougasse which they don't have just now but came out with a very tasty sourdough baguette, a couple of oven warm savoury pastries and a bun. Everything was incredibly fresh and friendly people too
Great
Fantastic wee place
Fantastic bread.
Nice
Fabulous baguette
Fantastic bread!!!
Wonderful bread
Nice cakes
Amazing sourdough
I eat two things, a croissant and a chocolate bun. I say one of the best croissants in the world, crispy, fresh and full of flavor. The lady was quite friendly.

Right down the street from me and very tempting every day :) staff is always friendly and every pastry I’ve tried has been very yummy! Always smells great in there as well.
The bread in this shop is very delicious.
I've been there many times and bought almost every item, and they're all very good.
Croissants, chocolate bread, baguettes, etc.~
You can also dine in the store.
Excellent boulangerie for a French breakfast. You can also find quiche. Small place though.
Complete breakfasts, with pretty good coffee and freshly made pastries in the store. We were in a hurry and had breakfast in 15 minutes, so it is totally recommended. I recommend the cart cake and the fruit cake, delicious!
I am French and I assure you that this bread is as good as ours! The croissants are also worth the detour... Bravo! Impossible to find better in Edinburgh, believe me!😉
Honestly the bread is excellent, I'm not French but my friend is and he said he had Lons-le-Saunier in his mouth for a few moments ahahah.
Good fresh bread
Good bread as fresh but goes dry/hard quick. Not best pastries as they also get hard too quickly. Would recommend for getting a baguette or our fave french white - which is heaven I must say! We have visited the shop multiple times as we leave close and tbh we were much more excited about the products at the beginning. We still do recommend it, but it’s not the best you can get and the stuff is not too friendly, rushing clients because of the queue or just simply being grumpy. It seems because they have many clients they just take them for granted and treat them not as they should.
Delicious breads and pastries at incredible prices! I've been buying supermarket baguettes, but no more-- now that I know I can get french quality baguettes for two pounds or less, I'll never buy supermarket bread again! Incredibly friendly staff, willing to sell me an existing half a baguette and explain some of the less familiar breads. Good food as well, but not much space (2 tables). Bread specials on Saturday. Worth waiting until the afternoon, as the sourdough doesn't come out until 12 pm. A delicious gem!
Terrific bakery, good selection of breads at a reasonable price point. 6 grain sourdough has been my favourite one so far. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Good Covid practices in place too
Delicious and beautiful bread, glad to have found a great baker in Edinburgh!
I was super impressed with the croissant (buttery, crisp exterior, light interior) and the cinammon bun. Carrot cake is nice and moist and not too sweet. Excellent cream cheese frosting.
A real local treat!
I am so glad to have this authentic bakery in my neighborhood.
Every morning, you can see the bakers prepare the bread and all the foodies, so it's all fresh.
Their breads keep very well, and they also have a few tables to sit in and have a proper coffee, or something for lunch.
I simply love it!
Great wee shop, most of the bread is vegan. They even have a sweet vegan bun, occasionally. Everything is made onsite from base ingredients, flour, water yeast.
All the bread is delicious.
Outstanding bread, every time. So good indeed that we make the trip here even though we live other side of The Meadows. Also great that there are different varieties of bread over the course of the day.
A wonderful local spot! Great bread and pastries, and very friendly. They also have lovely macarons, and sometimes very nice vegan options.
Nice and soft cheese bread and crispy sweet almond croissant 🥐
The stuff was very nice. It was the great start of the day.
We stopped here in April and were pleased to find an authentic boulangerie with long-fermentation sourdough breads. A small and comfortable space, we were happy to sit there for an hour before beginning our day of sightseeing.
Great French white breads, baguettes, brioches, sourdoughs, I've told all my friends about this place and all the ones that went can't help but go back for more. They even had some delicious pastries and cookies for the Xmas season. Moreover you can get lunch there in a warm and cozy atmosphere with the smell of warm bread in the air..Mmmmm..
Not been in before as not a big bread lover. But got some good advice on what to buy from a very friendly lady. Would recommend.
My world's favourite bakery! They have real (french) and delicious bread, the best macaron on earth, super tasty buns and pastries (sweet and savoury) and the staff is so lovely! Plan a visit when you are in Edinburgh!
Shockingly expensive. The produce is quite good, but does it really have to be this expensive? I'm from continental Europe and I'm used to little pastry shops like this. They are however extremely cheap over there... I don't really understand why in the UK decent pastries have to cost so much. But hey, it is what it is, and if you want to buy the stuff they sell, you won't find it in many places around Edinburgh, so you really don't have much of a choice. If you want what they sell, cough up the dough.
Great start of the day with delicious breads:)
The quiche was very small (10 cm x 8cm x 2cm), especially for the price. I hope it was a one time mistake.
Pastries are ok, considering it's not France, bread is very good and staff is very friendly.
Probably the best crusty baguette you can get in Edinburgh! I also tried cinnamon bun and croissants the other day. They are not bad but a bit pricey for that quality.
An amazing place to get sourdough - all of their breads are good, but they do have a lot of sourdough breads and it’s a specialty of theirs. Friendly staff that offers good recommendations. Can’t wait to come back!
It's wee - with just three tables. The proprietor is French. They bake bread and cakes on the premises. The young woman who served me is half French and she was very nice - reflecting an honesty about the place - clean, open and airy.
Good coffee, good croissant. What more can you ask.
I was accidentally introduced to their carrot cake while I was in need of a quick bite a few weeks ago. And it's the best one I've tried so far!❤️
Let's be honest: it's twice the price and not as good as even your average boulangerie in France. But it's still a world away from supermarket bread, so I'll happily stop by every couple weeks as a treat.
Excellent crema on the strong black coffee. Bread and bakes all home made and delicious. Excellent service and friendly staff. Wonderful home baking smells
A clearly passionate ownership about bread. Some french details, but mostly good, nutritious and flavourful bread.
The best baguette, country loaf, croissant, pain au chocolate, and almond croissant in all of Edinburgh! Highly recommend.
Best capuccino in town. Awesome attention, prices and great patisserie. I give 4 stars because it closes too early and sometimes I fancied a cappuccino and was already closed when I went (at 5.30 pm).
Hands down the best almond croissant I've had in my entire life. Would be willing to travel 20 miles for it, it's honestly life-changing.
we had the pain au chocolate and the chocolate buns. the treats were okay but not great. not enough chocolate in either. the pain looked great but was a tougher bread than most, and seemed to be missing it's flaky layers. the chocolate buns were also tough and were bland beside the chocolate in them. I think the bun was a plain white bread.
I bought two Roscones de Reyes, today. They are delivious
Superb bread and friendly staff! Will definitely come back again and again!
My favourite bakery in Edinburgh. The almond croissants are exceptional, the bread is lovely.
Ok coffee; good cocoa and tasty croissants. The small customer seating area could be cleaner & the walls need painting to upgrade the customer experience.
Best bread in Edinburgh. I've been going every other morning for a good six months now, as after the first few visits I couldn't stand supermarket bread any more.
Excellent sourdough and pastries at a very reasonable price. Was particularly nice to have the bread still warm when I bought it.
Authentic breads and delicious!!!!! The sourdough baguette is the best I've had, ever! Super pleasant staff and the aromas are to die for!
The bread here is delicious. I used to live next door and I miss the days where I could buy a loaf every week.
Absolute top quality products - the almond croissants are some of the best ever!
A great wee bakery that I've been going to for a while. Lovely bread and great pastries too!
Lovely little bakery, so far everything I've tried has been amazing!
I tried many bakeries in Edinburgh. This one is definitely the absolute best in town. I told all my fellow frenchmen, and they all agree! Vive la baguette!
The best place for bread in Edinburgh! Authentic French bakery. Everything freshly made each morning. Convenient opening hours and super friendly staff. A great place to go when you want a special loaf to complete a meal.
Very good bakery (mostly takeaway) but too small if you want to sit and have a cup of coffee with any of the products they sell. Also no toilets
An extraordinary French bakery. Perfect quality and highly recommend. Everything handmade. Loved the almond croissant.
The BEST croissant EVER. I really love the almond croissant. Brownies are lovely as well.
Brilliant bread, one of the best in Edinburgh, helpful staff I recommend trying the pan au lait
Really really great baguettes and french pastries. Little pricier than sainsbury down the street, but definitely worth it.
Brilliant baguette, excellent quiche and fabulous pizzetta. I love this little boulangerie.
Such a cute artisan bakery / coffee shop, we ate here twice during our visit to the city. Recommended.
Amazing bakery - their sourdough baguettes are awesome!
Have you tried their almond croissant already? £2.50 is a wee pricier than other places but ... Try it and life will never be the same again.
Fantastic authentic fresh baguettes in Edinburgh!
Tasty traditional Roscon de Reyes which has made my day. Lovely sourdough baguettes, highly recommended too!
Great flavours!
It's a great place to stop by and get amazing bread a little off the beaten tourist track, but close enough in Edinburgh.
Lovely bread, a bit on the expensive side. Can't pay by credit card unless you meet their £5 minimum spend.
great place. great staff. great food. proper French breads. just lovely!
Bought a small country loaf and a pain au chocolat yesterday. Both were excellent.
Best baguettes in Edinburgh. Just like being in Paris but close your eyes when you walk out of the shop...
Their baguettes are particularly special. Used to live nearby and visit them regularly.
Loved the tomato red pepper soup with their fresh baguette! Very French in style and quality!
such a great wholemeal bread that I have ever had!! Highly recommend
My favourite place to buy bread in Edinburgh. Everything is absolutely flawless
The best breads we have found in the city. Small but worth every product. Proper croissants and very nice quiche as well. Staff always lovely and kind.
Great service thanks for the pain au choclat and great tasting quiche.
Fabulous selection of breads and pastries. Great knowledgeable staff.
Friendly staff and amazing quality bread and buns!
Good french pastries and bread. Probably the closest bakery to the ones we find in France
Highly recommended! Their breads are fantastic! :)
Excellent fresh baked bread and the pastries are amazing.
The staff has always been friendly and the baguettes are delicious
Wonderful bread - not cheap but you get what you pay for!
Amazing pain au Chocolat and almond croissants!
Lovely lovely lovely! Superb bread and a host of other sweet and savoury French treats.
Very nice sourdough, if you can pay by card or the person behind the counter is good and lets you pay by cash.
Not sure if that is due to covid situation or not but denying cash payments bars some people who don’t have or prefer not to use a card from buying there. Outside of that, great place
Liked it as close buy. Bread very fresh and reasonably priced.
Just the most wonderful bread and french treats! Its very expensive but its very worth it!
Great bread and pastries. Very nice staff too
A little taste of France in Edinburgh. Bread is great.
Went for baguettes. Service was great and the baguettes were lovely and warm. Will be going back.
Real bread made by real bakers. Incredibly tasty.
Wonderful pastries and quiche. Fresh and natural ingredients.
Staff in here are really friendly and the pastries and tarts are delicious
Quick and great experience, food is tasty and staff are polite.
Interesting bakery, a bit on the expensive side for the breads they sell
Many places claim to sell a French baguette, this is the only place in Edinburgh that actually does. The chew, the crust and the flavour are all there. I will definitely be returning to try out their other breads and delicious looking cakes.
Great bread and pizzettas. Worth the trip!
This is by far the best bakers in Edinburgh - a fantastic shop!
Best place to buy freshly baked, delicious bread
The bread is extraordinary.
Bumped into this little bakery and was impressed by their coffee!
Now open 7 days. Try "une baguette en épi" for a party or dinner party.
Love the food, but the weak coffee lets it down.
Excellent freshly baked bread.
Best French bread in Edinburgh :)
Really good place, go whenever I can.
Lovely little bakery with a few tables for sitting in. Had a delicious chocolate roll and a cappuccino and bought a rye sourdough loaf and two mini pizza things to take away. Both were yummy. Lady behind the counter was very nice and friendly. Atmosphere was hot and steamy (it's a bakery!) and full of delicious smells.
